LD46 — Keep it alive

Keep The Beat Alive! by Willops 2020-04-23T09:10:03Z

I love it.

Web version didn't show the rythm bar for me, so I had to download it. The art is super clean and beautiful and the music is simply amazing. Went through the trhee levels, each of them was reasonably harder than the previous one, progression felt smooth.

Congrats for the game!

Nekotchi by Devastus 2020-04-21T10:38:55Z

They art was really clean and neat, I love it. I like how you show in the paper what is the player supposed to do. My Dee is stuffed almost all the time, damn.

I am your Dead by Akelliona 2020-04-23T08:46:43Z

Since the image for the Warrior showed E for LOOT and SPACE for DESTROY, and there were no enemies but two mana icons in the map, I pressed E in order to pick up that mana.

Then a "LOOT" word appeared, but then "DOWN" appeared and he did whatever he wanted even if that LOOT order used some of my mana.

When I clicked the mana in the map, and this route showed: undead.PNG

But the undead will do whatever he wants instead of that route, so then what's the point on drawing the route? It feels like I have to wait for minutes and minutes until he randomly gets to the end. I feel like I'm missing something, can you please spoonfeed me on how to play this game?

Several minutes later he got the mana but still didn't walk to the door: undead2.PNG

I am your Dead by Akelliona 2020-04-23T10:36:36Z

I feel stupid for not realizing I was meant to double click

Yay, I manage to beat it. I found out that it was best playing each level with the mage to find out which ones were false traps and decide the best route, then playing it all with the warrior to beat the game.

I saw that after you die you can change to the other character, but it would be useful if you could change it when you wanted. In my first run I manage to beat the game ignoring chests, and for the second time I looted them to check what was inside, and I lost because too many actions.

It was a cool game of optimizing actions, I can see it working great as a phone game. And yeah "spoonfeeding" is a hilarious word, hahaha.

Thanks for your game and sorry for getting confused with the controls.

Oh! That's a Hare!! by metalfist213 2020-04-20T21:11:29Z

I liked the music and the old school graphics style, but it feels like there isn't a goal. I would really appreciate a score, either in meters, precision, time or stuff killed.

Also, sometimes I got my hare killed while I was shooting some birds, so my shooting made me restart the game and I didn't get to see how did the hare die. It would be cool if there was some other button to restart the game instead of the shooting button.

Did you consider a web version so we don't have to download it?

Ducky's Day Out by Kosmo 2020-04-23T19:48:00Z

Cool concept, fun game.

That one level with a hundred of tunnels was frustrating since there is no way to know where is that one going to bring you. Did you consider a button to speed up? That would be useful.

Tiny Fragments by Daniel Moreno 2020-04-21T20:12:59Z

Really great idea for a puzzle game, can't believe it's not done yet. I would totally play the full version, specially if it was for android.

Simple but great art and music, even if the music ends up being too repetitive. Sadly it doesn't fit the theme at all, but other than that it's one of the best games I have played in this jam.

Fishing Around by TheGameGoyal 2020-04-23T20:10:26Z

If they breed why did their population drop?

So many fishes, can't click yellow fishes because they are fast as fuck!

Recursion by Finn Truman 2020-04-21T08:36:12Z

I'm stuck exactly in the same place as @the_martin. What should you do there?

Graphics are cool, and I appreciate the comments of the big guy after he refives you. But I think I would really enjoy some subtitles, as English is not my mother language and with that robotic voice it isn't always clear to me what did he say, but that's probably just me.

I think the jumping from platform to platform isn't very forgiving, and I didn't manage to find a checkpoint (maybe there are but I didn't get so far?) Starting always from the big guy might be logical for the game, but for playability it's a complete pain.

Please, could you tell us how to keep going from the image that the_martin published?

Protect the little one by Vodzik 2020-04-21T09:40:55Z

The concept was good, but I still dont get what kind of animal the small one was, and why does he roll as he walks? Haha.

I liked that you have to manage the bar while you advance, and you get more enemies each wave the highest the bar is. Attacking and using the shield felt a bit slow, if you attack and then use shield to protect you from an incomming attack, the shield isn't fast enough to protect you so you get hit. I found out that shield to take the blow then attack twice was a better way kill the birds, as it seems like finishing sword attack wont get interrupted by using shield, so you have to wait until the sword is back to iddle position before shields goes up.

All around it was enjoyable and the graphics were cool, but I feel like there is something wrong with torches.

For Ducks' Sake by GaryS 2020-04-23T08:57:19Z

Suck it dwarves! Simple but fun, and I love the retro feeling with that music.!

duck score.PNG

Not a very high score but still a lot of dead dwarves :ok_hand:

Corposprint by SaRNEh 2020-04-21T08:04:21Z

Art and music were nice, and the idea is neat. Sometimes when I jumped while running in a direction, I was standing still after landing even if the direction was still pressed, that was annoying.

Other than that I enjoyed it, good game.

Courier of Fire by Balgorode 2020-04-23T09:26:38Z

It was simple but the mechanics were so clear. Level design was clever and difficulty scalated smoothly.

Overall it was a fun experience, thank you very much for your game!

Mount Ookie by Brusi 2020-04-21T19:52:26Z

Web version doesn't work for me, it stays loading forever: ookie.PNG

I downloaded it and played it, and I like the art and music, and the concept is pretty cool.

But I have to complain about jump, it's way too fast. It should be slower or smoother, but feels like you go up a lot in no time, so it's annoying to control.

Overall it was enjoyable and fun, thanks a lot!

It Came From Inside! by Ziamor 2020-04-24T22:30:26Z

I enjoyed it, the idea is pretty original and the game was fun.

It would have been great if there was some kind of transition between levels other than just appearing in a new pool. Something like "Level complete", or a small black screen and a "Level X" when you get to the new level.

Other than that, an original idea que cool graphics? Bought!

Lamps by qkjosh 2020-04-24T22:52:06Z

Great atomsphere and cool, but I can't stop feeling the way the dog moves is kind of weird. I really like that it keeps you all the time waiting for something to happen and in tension, but sadly nothing happens, so I was kind of disappointed there.

I can't really see the theme anywhere, your light fading out is barely an excuse to fit the theme.

It was okay overall, thanks for the game!

IcyNoid by XCVZXC 2020-04-21T16:14:50Z

Very clean, a classic reinvented with funny poses.

I keep being greedy trying to make combos, but instead I fail to catch him. I should probably just keep him alive by moving the bar only if necessary, but I love the stars popping out when you make a risky push.

Zoo keeper by Team-on 2020-04-26T12:52:02Z

Graphics were so cute and clean, I loved them. Got the crab meme reference and I enjoyed it.

Great game, thanks a lot for making it!

Story of Lost Demon by Epsulon 2020-04-22T17:53:21Z

It was a cool game. I love the attack animation, it's so dynamic.

Did she kill me in the end? I didn't get if she was hugging the character or sucking his blood.

Reckless Brave by dimlight 2020-04-23T17:35:10Z

I enjoyed the game, it's a simple idea but the level design is indeed very clever. The one with the invincibility star took me a while to figure out.

Graphics are old fashioned but very clean, I would definitely play the full version. Great game!

Necromancer by krakadushka 2020-04-22T16:58:19Z

I just don't get this game. I like the style and the idea so I played it, but I have played twice and I lost in both of those.

The first time I recruited randomly so I can get why did I lose, but for the second time I carefully read the graves and recruited only people that was mentioned to be a warrior, a hero, an archer, and avoided weaklings like a lawyer and a stundent. I even had the first 3 icons at yellow, which is supposed to be good, but the 4th one at red. I thought I was doing great but still lost:

screenShot3.PNG

Why is yelow-yellow-yellow-red not enough to win a damn battle? :sob:

Necromancer by krakadushka 2020-04-22T17:27:20Z

I followed your advice and tried to go for good characters. Recruited everything that seemed to be lawful, and got all four icons yellow. I managed to win, yay!

necromancer1.png necromancer2.png

It would have been cool watching my guys fighting, but the important thing is that I won. Thanks a lot for your game and your advice to beat it

Keep it on light by Rahcelz 2020-04-22T17:35:07Z

It was a cool and original reverse tower defense game.

I didn't get what did the light with 30 cost do, what do you mean by "Silence gates"? The cross one was the best one for me, so much value for only 40 points.

Overall it was a fun game, thanks for making it!

The Umbrella by Team Watt 2020-04-21T07:51:25Z

I liked the music and the art, and the concept is cool.

I miss a feedback of completion, as I got Oxygen, moisture and energy to max and Radiation to zero, and then some "You terraformed the planet" message would have been nice. By the way, the radiation bar should be moved apart, as it's totally different from the others (it has to be reduced instead of increased). I would add something to close the mothership menu, since I sometimes opened it to check if I could get anything new but found out that I couldnt get anything new yet. Then I couldn't close it so had to ask for something I didn't need in order to close the menu.

The idea is fun and it fits the theme well.

Elnelis by Rodi 2020-04-21T09:54:23Z

The game is okay, but I can't seem to fire my bow. I'm playing with mouse and left click wont shoot it (I tried a lot of keyboard buttons but didn't find a single one to make the bow work). I'm eating flower corruption balls while I'm trying to heal corrupt plants, so they hit me while I can't move. Am I doing something wrong?

I guess firing them with the bow might make them stop shooting.

The music is pretty cool, and the concept is good, even if elven trees corrupting seems like a classic theme in RPG culture.

Lonely Year by Shanzhai 2020-04-21T19:42:22Z

I didn't get what to do in this game, died falling and getting lost. Then I slept for days and days until uncle was back, then the same but I buried an apple so there was a big tree when uncle came back.

Is there a good ending? It feels like sleeping simulator, haha.

Other than that, I like the simplistic graphics and music, I can see it working if it had some more depth.

Untitled Mouse Game by Binney 2020-04-21T08:23:07Z

I came here for the funny name, and I stayed for the music.

The sound is really well done and gameplay is fun all around, but I seem to be unable to tell in an instrument is playing slow or fast for some reason, even if I have no problems with sharp and flat.

Carrying is Caring by Vederant 2020-04-22T20:13:41Z

I love the mechanic and the graphics, but it's very unforgiving, specially since there aren't any checkpoints.

When I managed to get to the big glowing crystal I thought "Oh so here's where I have to bring the jar" and right clicked. Then the jar crashed into the crystal and I lost so I had to restart.

Once in a while I get hit and one hit means you are dead and have to restart from the very beginning, that was very frustrating. Also when you are in slow motion the character moves way too slow, so slow that hitting the air was a better way to close distances to grab the jar before it hits the ground (not sure if that's intended, though).

Overall it was a fun game, other than the checkpoint thing (I would definitely add one in the glowing crystal, seems like a perfect place). I can see this with some polish working as a proper game.

Congratulations for the game! You did a great job

A tale of Rebirthism by Pomo 2020-04-23T10:07:41Z

It was a very challenging game about multitasking, you really need to be doing 3 things at the same time in order to beat that asdasdas whatever it's called.

I also enjoyed the funny text conversations, but the voice of blue and red were really annoying (specially red).

It's a great idea and the game was fun to play, while I also appreciate the fact that difficulty went up smoothly. Definitely going to get some nuggets now, though.

A tale of Rebirthism by Pomo 2020-04-23T15:11:40Z

@arthurds Yes, I did! Does this prove it?

Feed The Panda by Takase 2020-04-21T20:59:33Z

It was a cute game, graphics are awesome. I liked all costumes, but classic panda is the cutest by far.

Is there a way to remove an ingredient you placed incorrectly? Also after I lost, if I click "Restart" the ingredients I missplaced are still there, that's definitely a bug.

Thanks a lot for your game, but you make me wonder how good would a salmon burger taste. :fish:

Clonization by FPGames 2020-04-21T20:48:55Z

screenshot2.PNG No game :sob:

Clonization by FPGames 2020-04-21T21:40:25Z

It was simple but the idea is cool. I feel like it need some more depth, but overall it was okay.

The Intern by FlorianB 2020-04-20T22:20:52Z

It was really annoying that I can't play with WASD, but I'm supposed to press left shift in order to run, so I needed a third hand if I wanted to press left shift plus arrows plus moving the mouse to look around.

The environment is cool and I enjoyed hitting the boss with everything that was in his table.

The Apocalypse: Your Fired by oramun 2020-04-21T11:09:37Z

I really loved the music, it's sad that for some reason it stopped playing at some point.

I think that after the fire is at max size you don't have any reason to keep playing, maybe if there was a score and you got points for each zombie you kill?

The game was good, I would play the full version with extra levels and bosses. :thumbsup_tone1:

Planets wars by raguel 2020-04-20T20:50:05Z

I really like it, I had a lot of fun playing it. I appreciate the sound feedback for shields up and down on the enemy planet, and explosion particles were really clean and neat.

I kept on playing because I was curious about if the levels were set or random, and it turns out they run out (the last one is a purple planet with really fast spaceships). Some feedback of what level are you in would be nice, or maybe giving a feedback of what's the last level. Still, it's definitely a great game.

Also I noticed that your planet can still shoot in the direction your spaceship was shooting when you died, but I'm not sure if that's a bug or it's intended.

Rift Defender by RK-17 2020-04-21T10:28:34Z

You can only pick up items if you are really really on top of them, it should be more forgiving. Also I would enjoy them better if there were a lot less items and they had more uses, as in 2-3 uses most of them are over.

The art and music is okay, but I really miss sound feedback for the actions you take. For example that one last room with appearing buttons was a pain for me to understand, since it's so big that it doesn't fit in the whole screen and I didn't see that more buttons were spawning. I started to think that maybe I didn't press the button right, so a sound "Click" so you know you pressed the button would be great. Also when I put the machine in the socket I didnt get a feedback that I did it right, it feels like I just put it in the wrong place, as it didn't fit in the socket and it didn't make any light, sound or move into the center of the socket.

In one of my runs I didnt pick up the machine and instead went to clean the way before bringing it (I think it makes sense, since you can't attack while you have it on you), and realized monsters are only going after the machine and not after you, causing some weird stuff like this: screenshot.PNG

I get that maybe I did it wrong and you are not supposed to play like that, but I wanted to give that feedback. Maybe the should chase the player if the machine is too far?

Overall it was a nice experience, other than what I pointed out, thanks for the game.

Keep Us Alive by Aroma 2020-04-23T20:01:12Z

Dont get me wrong, but it's not what I was expecting when I opened it. I was expecting a classic shoot 'em up and got a space button mashing game.

Even with that, I enjoyed the mechanics and music. Suck it space snails!

Captain Jayce by cowarky 2020-04-21T16:17:28Z

Still can't play the game. captainJayce.PNG

Captain Jayce by cowarky 2020-04-21T18:32:16Z

I can't hear any sound, and the camera doesn't seem to move with the character, and it probably should. I mean it's only a screen where enemies come from the right. Also the gun shoots once every 10 seconds or so, it shoots slower than enemies come which is weird.

Could you please try the game yourself and check if it works as intended?

To The Sky by darksylvok1 2020-04-21T10:51:12Z

Game music was cool, but main screen music was very annoying. I totally get the old school feel of both music and graphics.

Overal it was enjoyable, thanks a lot for the game!

Healer by PisiTo 2020-04-20T21:30:45Z

The idea itself was original and very fitting for the "Keep it alive" theme. But controls were kind of weird and I didn't get a feedback of how good I was doing, a game score would have been great.

Graphics were simple but they work. Great job, overall it was nice.

The Dark Cave by Tom Stephenson 2020-04-24T20:51:51Z

Cool idea and atmosphere. I also thought of Limbo after those spiders and black and wait scary graphics

The splatting went too intense near the end of the game, but the concept is great, I would definitely play the full version. Thanks for the game!

Silkworm: Keeping the Game Alive by Roey_Shap 2020-04-21T20:45:10Z

I liked the humour and the memes, it was an original idea.

But for some reason I can't understand the pong minigame where you move the mole. Why do I keep losing? I tried to press spacebar when I hit the ball, tried to press it endlessly, and tried not to press it at all and I lost anyway. :sob:

Quack Runner by Grumpy Wren Games 2020-04-21T21:58:07Z

I liked the art of the ducks and the tsunami, even if I'm not sure how can a duck outrun a tsunami, haha. By the way, I almost got a heart attack when my mother duck died, that sound is way too loud.

I couldn't dodge wheels for real, all my ducks died every single time one of those showed up.

It's a enjoyable game overall, thanks a lot for making it!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Moby's Trip by blaster391 2020-10-08T21:47:56Z

It feeks like a retro version of audiosurf. Shooting was a bit messy, but I enjoyed the synthwave aesthetics.

Lucy Liuper (~DreamLooper) by Prostone 2020-10-08T21:38:53Z

The mechanic is fun, it can definitely work in a full game. I missed some sound or music.

Stuck in the Office by BobParis75 2020-10-11T10:30:54Z

I was really interested in playing this game, but keyboard doesnt work. I plugged my switch controller that works in most of my steam games, and it's not working either.

BL0CK by GregoryBlomquist 2020-10-11T10:42:24Z

I didn't find a way to push the blocks. I general I think using manuals is a bad idea, but even with that I downloaded and readed it. I get that I'm supposed to switch rooms all the time, but still can't do anything other than freeze the green blocks. I feel dumb that I can't play it, but maybe add some visuals to make it dumb-user friendly.
