Quite a good game. The music and sfx fits the game perfectly. Some instructions or indicator of where the socket is might be great.

You can only pick up items if you are really really on top of them, it should be more forgiving. Also I would enjoy them better if there were a lot less items and they had more uses, as in 2-3 uses most of them are over.

The art and music is okay, but I really miss sound feedback for the actions you take. For example that one last room with appearing buttons was a pain for me to understand, since it's so big that it doesn't fit in the whole screen and I didn't see that more buttons were spawning. I started to think that maybe I didn't press the button right, so a sound "Click" so you know you pressed the button would be great. Also when I put the machine in the socket I didnt get a feedback that I did it right, it feels like I just put it in the wrong place, as it didn't fit in the socket and it didn't make any light, sound or move into the center of the socket.

In one of my runs I didnt pick up the machine and instead went to clean the way before bringing it (I think it makes sense, since you can't attack while you have it on you), and realized monsters are only going after the machine and not after you, causing some weird stuff like this: screenshot.PNG

I get that maybe I did it wrong and you are not supposed to play like that, but I wanted to give that feedback. Maybe the should chase the player if the machine is too far?

Overall it was a nice experience, other than what I pointed out, thanks for the game.

Not bad, music was very loud though, had to lower it with volume mixer. Something you might want to look into : the items that are dropped on the ground can kill enemies. :) Good submission

Pretty good, a lot of fun to play. Picking up items is quite difficult though as you have got to be quite close

Nice work on this entry! Amazing that you managed to fit all of those different weapons into the game in just a short amount of time... the machine gun was particularly satisfying! I wasn't quite sure what the objective was but it was quite nice to just run around shooting monsters.

justuspan 2020-04-22 11:19

have lots of fun from it. The pick up range is too small. The various weapons make it feels great to play with. I got some inspiration from this game! Good job guys!

Catchy 8-bit tune 👍

ja-viera 2020-04-22 11:22

I like the dimensional rift idea! I would have preferred if you could take the machine with you, like grabbing it somehow, it was a bit annoying going ahead, killing the enemies and then pushing the machine...also since you can only push it sometimes I got it stuck in corners.

This was an enjoyable game and I really liked the way that you can pick up weapons and how some of them only have a few uses, encouraging the player to use a variety of different weapons. Just a tip, I reckon you're using the unity tilemap. If so, you probably want to turn your colliders into composite colliders so that they all merge together; I was getting stuck if I was walking along the edge of the walls due to each tile having it's own collider. The gun shot sound was fantastic but the music let you down here. Parts of it were great but there were others where the notes clashed and sounded horrible. I think it's probably just different audio samples being mixed together.

flyingthunder 2020-04-22 11:29

@ja-viera You can pick up the machine by using spacebar... It might have been a web player bug. How ever you can only pick one machine or weapon.

fun game, the soundtrack is pretty cool but i'd consider lowering the volume for it a little! also sometimes picking up items required more than one attempt but other than that it was a cool experience :)

Your game has a nice idea and is playable and even fun in some passages but I think you had an issue with the scope of it all(like I often do). I think you've seen too big for a jam and didn't prioratize elements to be implemented. Like the range of weapons to choose from is really nice and adds the fun to the game. But maybe you should have worked on a navmesh for enemies before making the different weapons, or a timed escape end to fit your scenario. Overall your poject is a good idea with not enough time to make it fully enjoyable, which often happens in gamejam, obviously ^^ I enjoyed the music and sound design that fit well with your game, though.

flyingthunder 2020-04-22 12:10

@gnocchi Yes i realize that. What actually happened is that while writing the AI , i used a* Path finding project for navigation and gave every enemy the target of the Machine. The gates that are opened by the switch were also obstacles so that the enemies wont leave their rooms. But i did not consider to include something that forces you to have the Machine with you before you start a room. By the time i realized they were doing that it was 15 mins to submission so i uploaded it as it is.

flyingthunder 2020-04-22 12:14

@vulgaris @blue-pin-studio There had to be a tradeoff. The sound track is playing at 20% volume any lower and it was inaudible on the web build and it was already high on win build but on win build its easy to lower it from volume mixer however if one increases browser volume than that would affect other things as well. Thats why its high.

Really enjoyed the guns in the game you could make them the focus and roll with it, great game still.

mravec 2020-04-22 14:08

Awesome. A small HUD for showing ammo would be cool to have.

sharbelfs 2020-04-22 14:10

nice game, very frenetic. I like the weapons, but they are hard to pick up, so, after a little time trying I decide to go with the fist only and looks like that most of the time you don't really need weapons, they are just for fun.

naca 2020-04-22 22:48

Nice entry. The camera is a bit too close to the player in my opinion, I wish I could zoom out a bit in order to see whats going on in each room. The game is fun to play though.

adriankrawczyk 2020-04-23 07:49

cool artstyle

homunculusgames 2020-04-23 08:21

Good job guys pretty fun game! Loved the area damage of the shotgun. The only con is the pickup range, was kind of hard to pick up stuff. Great game overall!
