LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Fenik by Kataware 2018-12-04T02:43:08Z

gosh darn dude this is absolutely amazing! I'm impressed you managed to do much of any of this, with skill trees and spells and rpg-elements. It's really good!

Holy darn dude how much time did you use on your levels?! That's so many! How???

BulletHealth by Rugbug_Redfern 2018-12-03T00:14:06Z

Dude, this is really good! If I were to make one request, I sort of wish the bullets didn't take as much health away, but you've done an amazing job!

Lab Escape of the Terrifying Blob by theyellowgreninja 2018-12-04T02:31:34Z

@darylsteak I didn't realise that was a thing that happened. Thanks for the very timely info, I should hopefully have as fix for that one up soon-ish (like 2-3 days, w/ schoolwork and all). I'm also really glad you all enjoy the game!

Split Soul by Sthor726 2018-12-04T02:37:30Z

When you die, the music loops over itself and it gets kind of messy. Figured I'd give you that little heads up. Otherwise, a bit finicky with the controls, but the idea is cool. My only other complaint is that your soul is affected a lot by physics, maybe it could be toned down?

LD44 — Your life is currency

Horde Defence by Lemon 2019-05-02T22:03:07Z

This is a really neato idea! I think your art is, while minimalist, good to look at. The gameplay is a little bit lackluster, which is kind of to be expected from a TD game, but I do feel like not being able to build a base is a little sad, but I understand that in 72 hours you may not really be able to do that. I will say that the upgrade UI could be improved, I originally thought the indicators on the side where the upgrade or replace buttons, but I think the upgrades tab being a pull down is a little unnecessary and makes it harder to navigate. It would've been better if you either click those side indicators or have other buttons on the other side of the screen that were always around. I also really wish you had gotten around to music, because 9 times out of 10, that's really what drives the whole thing home (but again, I do understand that 72 hours is not a long time).

P.S. I also think that some way to go back to the start from the game over screen would be nice, but I might've missed something on that screen as well.

LD45 — Start with nothing

Buildout by Igor KinGamer 2019-10-13T17:38:22Z

I really like this, actually. I think the gameplay itself was really, in a surprising way, fun! The graphics weren't all that great, but as a fellow user of epic programmer art, I appreciate you using simple shapes. It took a bit to get used to using the blocks well, but that was a fun part. The introduction of non-breakable walls kind of made it seem, to me, not very in-line with the theme, but the game itself was really fun! I did notice a lot of super weird collision issues, like the ball getting stuck in the paddle and the wall, although only once did that actually require me to reset, which is definitely better than it could be. Overall, a solid game, but without a ton of the theme present. Still fun tho.

New.AI by smilewood 2019-10-13T17:48:56Z

This game is really hard! The gameplay itself seemed fine enough (although I got stuck really early on so I couldn't say if it got better or worse later on or not). Music was great, although the sawblade sounds were really, really loud. Theme works, but not super innovative. Overall, not bad, not super great. Nice work!

Sticky Fingers by ruthiepee 2019-10-13T17:54:06Z

Was it just me, or did the web version get all blurry and run at like 2 FPS? I don't know if I can rate this game because of how messed up the web version was for me.

Edit: @ruthiepee I'm on Chrome Beta (Windows 10). I'm also streaming, which could put some extra strain on my PC, which isn't exactly a supercomputer.

Grab your katana! by Mikeliosus 2019-10-13T18:00:46Z

Okay but for this being the first time you've used GMS2, this is really good! The art is pretty decent as well, and the sound effects are honestly kind of nice (especially that death sound effect 😆). All in all, a solid, if short, game!

Substructure by Mateusz Wojtkowski 2019-10-13T18:06:01Z

Yeah okay so the graphics are really nice, the music is sick, and the mood of this game is really well made, considering the "game" part of the game is 3 lines of text. I'm really impressed with just how good you made this considering that this is only 3 lines of text. Really well done!

Purpose: Unknown by Frogravity 2019-10-13T18:18:42Z

This is really fun! I got stuck once the only enemies left were the ones with the zapper guns, but it was fun right up until that point, and I'm pretty sure there was some way to get past I just didn't find. Really fun, great music, nice visuals, all in all a great game!

LD46 — Keep it alive

Motobot Defender by pkenney 2020-04-22T15:22:40Z

This is a really fun game! I saw one of the updates you posted about it and instantly knew I would want to play this game first, and boy did you not disappoint! The controls feel really nice, the visuals are pleasant, and the gameplay is surprisingly satisfying!

In terms of criticism, I think that this game could be even cooler with a soundtrack (even just one song) to keep the energy up. I also found myself having to constantly re-center my mouse because I had to go back and forth to hit all of the enemies. Actually hitting the enemies proved to be challenging, but I think that's just because I have very poor aim.

Overall, super fun!

Life of the Party by KC_Shiftyyy 2020-04-22T15:38:23Z

This is a pretty good game, considering it seems like it's your first jam. Graphics are simple, gameplay is simple, and the music is simple, but it does work, and it is honestly pretty fun! Nicely done.

Chaos by Sthealthinator 2020-04-22T15:32:30Z

First, praise: I really like this game! It's simple, yet very fun to play and try to get a high score. The slow introduction of more obstacles (and powerups? I don't know what those white circle things do), and the ramping up of difficulty works really well. The graphics are pleasant (not super amazing, but they do look pretty nice).

Now, I'm a bit of a music nerd, so I have a couple of quick suggestions on that. You drum beat was actually really good, I liked that a lot, but the melody over it didn't ever quite land. I think a bit more resolution is needed in the song (and maybe some more melodic phrases). The song is pretty decent, but I think a few small tweaks here and there could've elevated it to the next level easily (specifically, the loop point of the song feels very forced, so you could either extend the song or modify the end of it to loop better).

Overall, a very fun game, well done!
