I really liked the mechanics and controls. Physics could use a little tweaking (e.g. tapping jump a bunch causes mid air jumps due to jump cutoff implementation).
The puzzles are good, a mix of thinking and being precise in the jumps. Level design seems to have gotten particuliar care and given the short amount of time you had it's impressive ! Sometimes the physics can be surprising (like the friction sticking you on the wall) but it's not game breaking.
When you die, the music loops over itself and it gets kind of messy. Figured I'd give you that little heads up. Otherwise, a bit finicky with the controls, but the idea is cool. My only other complaint is that your soul is affected a lot by physics, maybe it could be toned down?
I almost got a little bit frustrated on the second to last level, but I am so glad that the game has a fun ending that requires all of the mechanics you learned early on. Great work, very clean! The edge sticking was awkward, and I think a simple PhysicsMaterial2D on the player and soul rigidbody with friction 0 would clean it up. (depending on how your move is implemented I think)
@arkinrev Thanks for the feedback! Making physics for this game was quite frustrating because limiting friction on the ground / player caused an awkward interaction between the souls.
The game play was really fun the physics had a few flaws, and the and I wish that at could skip the cut scene intro to the really long level. Overall the game was really great and just needs a few minor tweaks here and their to be amazing.
great concept, nice minimal graphics that work well for the gameplay. suuuuper moody and thematic. could have used sound effects, and music beyond a short loop. some good puzzles but not very involved (understandable in 48 hours). very nice! bug: jumping up to platforms, if you rub the side before getting to the top it sticks you there and messes up your jump.
Clever puzzles! Excellent idea. Loved the look and ambiance.
I really liked the artstyle, and the splitting soul was a neat concept!
I'm going to second @theyellowgreninja and say that the music looping after you die can be a bit cacophonous. The only other little problem I had was that after you press down to split your soul you keep controlling the white one, I just kept having trouble with the fact you don't switch to the black one when it's created (that could just be my lousy brain though).
Other than those it's definitely an interesting idea and it was fun to play through the few levels that were there.
Nice game, it was quite polished and with a good mechanic but when you die the music doubles...
The concept is interesting, it include the concept of sacrifice in a subtle way because through the game it's never said explicitely, but you have to sacrifice your clone to advance. The game is far from perfect. The audio glitched and everytime I died a music was added in top of the music already playing. The platforming part is a bit too precise to be enjoyable, and there's some collision problem. But I still liked the game, an interesting take on the theme. Good job :)
Nice idea, cool puzzles to solve! It took me a while to make progress with the controls being very precise. Also, I fell off to the left on the first level, and it didn't restart.
Good puzzle game, a bit hard to jump (stick to the wall). Some sounds for split or jump will make the mood more immersive. Nice work !
I appreciated the overall style of the game and the puzzles were interesting! However the controls were a bit slidey, although I was mostly used to it by the end.
Having to sit through the cutscene every time you die in the last level is a little frustrating especially since the level starts so slow. If these issues were fixed I think this could be a really nice game to continue working on!
Overall it was a nice entry, good job!
If you run off the left at the very beginning you lose control of the game and need to refresh the browser, which seemed a little rough. I like the concept of the split and the white/black - reminded me of Ikaruga (in a good way)
I'm not sure what the goal is, the game or instructions do not tell me what the goal is. I can't get the white character to the top-right sunbeam (presumed goal), I can only get the black on up there. Any tips?
@gwinnell I'm guessing your on the first level so you have to jump off of the head of the other player
Oh Yeah :-) One of my favorite game (of all the time) is 'Thomas was alone'. And you know what ? I got the same emotion with your game. I like it ! Only one problem, I have issue with the sound (a lot of glitches) so I choose to play without it.
Nice game, i liked the puzzles.
Sometimes I get stuck in the corners when I jump
This is overall a pretty fun little puzzle platformer. The graphics is simple and good. The music is not super good, but the idea for the music is good. The controls is okay, but they can use a bit polish. Overall a fine LD game. Well done.
