@yvanor Thank you for playing and commenting!

Hi nice name u have on itch.io the game is kind of like a big autoscroller so some interractivity could be nice. Ha en bra dag.

I met a friendly penguin, but nobody else seemed interesting in staying. Every time my fire got more than 2 or 3 sparks, it seemed to burn faster than I could put logs on. I saw lots of stuff happening in the text log, but I wish it was a bit easier to actually see the other visitors. Reminded me a bit of Neko Atsume.

Interesting take on the theme. I enjoyed the experience

dankar 2020-04-25 13:08

Very relaxing game :)

jordgubben 2020-04-25 13:09

Thanks @oune.

@blushine Atsume was one of our main inspirations. It might take a while to get the fire going. The penguin likes lower temperature than the other creatures.

Very relaxing! I think with improved graphics this works nicely as a screensaver

picusbgames 2020-04-25 13:57

@sotsnut @jordgubben Very interesting interactive experience :) Took your advice and let it run while I worked on some course material (fortunately I do enjoy the sound of fire crackling, nicely done there!). Had some people pass and some stay, but mostly I just let it go and interacted with the fire now and then :) Nice little experience, thank you :)

Very relaxing game, maybe a little too much. Good experience, thank you

jordgubben 2020-04-25 15:11

@gaming-night You can never be to relaxed.

jordgubben 2020-04-25 15:13

@picusbgames Sounds like you're playing exactly as intended. Creatures come and go. That's just how they are.

I LOVE idle games, and this one is no exception. Reminds me of A Dark Room which is also a good idle game.

I like that the audio gets more intense together with the fire. Nice touch

This is brave yet solid entry for this jam, well done!

ondrasej 2020-04-25 15:46

This was a bit too meditative for me. I was falling asleep and my fire kept dying off... Otherwise, an interesting take on the theme.

Sniff-sniff!

Looks like we had basically the same idea. 🤩 Of course you managed to add what I did not end up having time for: visitors! 💜

Ended up not doing anything to the side but just focussing on this and having a nice moment with the cosy audio and an interest in seeing who the next one to come by would be. Very nice and relaxing~

Some serious Moomin vibes, especially given the name and the ghostly figure showing up by the fire! 😍 Makes the cute pencil art a very good fit.

Audio is obviously important here and it was great. Love the animal sounds! My only complaint would be the silence between every loop of the fire clip.

Also I was getting increasingly *stoked* (pun not intended but I'm rolling with it!) to see if anything would happen once the fire reached full intensity but I guess the answer is no? c:

Lovely forest excursion! 🔥

Snurf!

jordgubben 2020-04-26 17:51

@ava-skoog Yes, the are alike arn't they? But then again, after playing a lot of your entries over the years, I'm of the impression that have an at least slightly similar mindset when it comes to game design.

The "Moomin-ness" is most intentional. Just hope Tove Janson would see this as a compliment (and not copyright infriegment 🤭).

jordgubben 2020-04-26 17:54

Thank you for mentioning 'A Dark Room', @marcusnystrand. It's a game I've played quite a bit and it was one of out two main sources of inspirations; The other beeing 'Neko Atsume', just like @blushine noted.

Hi! It's a really good entry, relaxing but I miss something like fade out of te narrative text with the time so you don't keep a huge "I stroke the flame...." several times at the right. good job! Congratulations!!

silkworm-sweatshop 2020-05-09 16:37

I like that there is kind of a goal but not really with the intensity bar. It definitely kept me playing longer seeing if I could fill the bar up (which I did, and then I just let it go back down again). Past a certain point it seemed to hot for most knytt and most of them just passed by. I got the same 3 encounters on the way up as I did down. I did notice more names of bypassers but I don't know if they ever join in as well. Nice and relaxing!

Initially it reminded me of A Dark Room, which is a game I really love playing. However, it kind of never took off. I'm not a huge fan of games that are as relaxed as this, but this one seems to be well made! Adding a couple more events that happen, and making the text scrollable, would improve the game overall. Stoking the fire also felt a little unbalanced, but not by much. The atmosphere in the game was fantastic, and this is a really good submission
