Interesting idea. The art style and music gave me Sid Meier's Pirates vibe. I'm not sure I was very good at it because I couldn't figure out how to return fire! The turn-based hex movement was fun but I feel like the oranges just added frustration more than any thing. I suppose they were necessary to limit the number of moves you could make in 10 seconds. Overall, a good game!

@human-writes-code try right clicking. :)

The idea sounds very interesting, and I would like to play it. Could you possibly link a WebGL or Linux-Runnable version?

Music and the art style is very nice! I did not really get the implementation of the theme - I think it only matters when there are enemies on the screen too, otherwise I just had to wait (till the end of the turn) to move again - which felt too slow. Shooting the enemies were fun - but their attacks from the fog of war was not :D I got sniped out a few times till I figured out the black space on the ocean means that I am being targetted by a cannonball :D Otherwise, I think this could be a really good ground for an actual game, but I think you have to decide if it should be real-time or turn based :-D Music was pretty plaful and fitting the piratey lore! Anyways very nice job, keep up with the good work!

Cool application of the theme, about sticking 10s to turn limit works well. However, it could just have more turn based feeling, at first I didn't realize that when can I move and when can I shoot. Anyway, great implementation of the theme!
Hey great idea, good execution and a fun little game! Like @human-writes-code gave me a bit of a sid meier's pirates vibe (good thing!) although I definitely got the firing and evading... won the game on the second try :)

Nice use of AI art (apologies if this was not AI art). Gameplay is impressive, number of moves per 10 seconds punishes a lack of patience haha.

Hello fellow ship game makers !
Everything is clean and working so congrats :)
I agree with the fact that oranges add frustration. The mix between real time and turn base is very interesting.
The game in itself is pretty difficult given that the total amount of oranges you get is reduced every 10 seconds.
Congrats !
Nice submission, the wind making it harder to navigate was a really nice clever addition, of course some times it was frustrating when it wouldn't cooperate but it was frustrating in a fun way.

That's a well made game. Very unique way of mixing turn-based and real time mechanics. But I always found out myself just stuck without moves and cannonballs approaching. I guess I need to better plan my moves, heheh.
Anyway, enjoyed it!

Cool and well made game, i like the art style and the hexagon map   the explosions are an interesting mix in as well. Nice relaxing music as well. Good Job. However, i am not entirely sure how to win, i found the map but i just ran out of those red points / oranges too fast... and the map changed nothing really, did it?

@zluca thank you for your feedback. After you found the map, the Treasure is revealed and the compass points to the treasure. To get more oranges, you need to stop by an island with oranges, so you need to plan your journey.

@martta Oh okay, i thought the part with the compass pointing to your goal, but i didn't know i could restock oranges, i thought i just had to finish the game before i run out  i might try again to see that treasure :)

@zluca there is nice animaation, sound effect and victory screen waiting at the end! :D And IMO the game gets better the more you play it as you familiarize yourself with the weird RTS/TBS mix :) initially it feels wrong and annoying, but then you get to experience the strategy and tactics layers of the game.
I liked the pirate theme. Good graphics for a strategy game too, although I wouldve preferred some more enemy variation

Such a fun game! Is the map randomly generated? Every time I started the game, I would spawn somewhere else. The hexagons is a great idea! It makes navigating so much more logical. I did not really know why sometimes the boat would go streight to the destination, and why sometimes in a zigzag form. Is that because of the wind? (I read later that following the wind is a good idea).
The first time I played, I came across an island with a map (I think?). But no way of opening it. Or did I interpret that wrong?
Graphics are cool. I like the 3d models and 2d'ish map design. The explosions felt a bit out of place though.
OMG so hardcore when you hurry! Yeap, be patient, this is good for you.
Game is relentless, but well balanced. Maybe you should try to switch it to the mobile platform? I would play couple of levels while sitting in the bus or metro
Anyway, great job and solid entry! Good luck on LD51 :sunglasses:

@wouter52 Yes the map is random generated. Yes, the "zigzagging" is because of the wind. It is a sailing boat after all, it is impossible to go against the wind! The proper sailing term is tacking: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tacking_(sailing) When you approach the island with a map, the compass starts pointing towards the treasure.
@niklas-zhaga we are actually thinking about Android/iPhone conversion. I have actually a made list of required changes for mobile: - Reduce line of sight and movement points to 1/2, so that everything is bigger and easier to hit with a thumb. - Double the number of the islands. As you are moving slower and can not see that far, there needs to be more oranges available - Increase the number of enemies by 50 %. As you are travelling shorter distances, you would encounter fewer enemies. - Enable slow motion, when you are selecting your next action. Selecting your next destination/target might be slow and inaccurate with your mobile, you need more time vs. mouse and keyboard.

I played this game on my stream! [Here's a link to the VOD](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1619345236?t=6h04m00s)
really cool game, I was very surprised when I ran into the big pirate ship (and it ended up being my doom!)

@badcop thanks for the stream! Always great feedback to see someone to play your game. For example I learned that the game gives little feedback why your ship is zig zagging (tacking) when you are sailing against the wind. It is just too easy to dismiss as a bug.

@Martta :O that makes a lot of sense! I thought it was just a bug lol
I am clearly a bad pirate :see_no_evil:
It is a good concept and well executed. Only the explanations of the "how to play" are a bit confusing. The visuals are also a bit hard on the eyes with the plain tiles compared to the detailed ships. Otherwise, it is a good jam submission. Well done!

@tinylittlestudio Thanks for feedback! I actually wrote a blog posts here where you can see the evolution of the graphics: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/51/project-hex/evolution-of-our-game-treasure-tactics
In the blog post you can see how we initially had detailed water, but it looked terrible, so we opted for simpler look.
We were in progress of creating a more simpler ship, but you dont have time for everything during a game jam... :-)

Pretty cool little game. It took a while for me to understand the oranges and how they work :D. A little bit of glitchiness when sinking as one can sail while sinking and also the compass turns into a black rectangle. Regardless good job, I like the idea overall!

Cool and interesting game!
