LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Pupu Pew Pew by Samuli 2022-10-12T09:53:00Z

Great game, unfortunately i don't have lightguns but i imagine it'd be more fun than mouse. I feel like the basic gameplay loop is a bit "slow" but it is well paced and balanced with the amount of enemies coming up. Really nice idea for a jam. Good job.

Galactic traders by mar3k 2022-10-05T19:54:39Z

Bild_2022-10-05_214725507.png GOD! FINALLY! it took me over an hour and multiple attempts but i finally beat it :muscle: great game, lots of strategy. I feel like the enemy units sometimes are way stronger attack wise than my own, or i just saw myself defeated too often  I like how i always felt like i could beat it eventually, really enjoyed it, great game. I'd love to give you some critique as well, but except for missing music, a desire for more levels and missing credits, i cant think of anything:

Fun Time Games by LuckyFeathers 2022-10-05T07:12:29Z

Great game, lots of cool minigames and nice rank up in difficulty. Really polished graphics and music. Hard to believe its a jam game :joy: The only constructive criticism i could give, is: credits, put your names on your game, its good work and good to see who worked on it

You've been Thunderstruck by borgi 2022-10-06T20:26:52Z

Very nice game, i feel the instant kill of zeus when you're not completing certain parts is quite a harsh punishment, but i'm a soulslike fan so i like it :v: some parts are really challenging and about navigating precisely around the enemies without touching them. I actually got stuck in the 6-8 zombie area because of that, tried it multiple times, but always died for one reason or another. Maybe making the respawn points also reusable could help, so that you can "work your way" through a difficult challenge. Anyways, i had fun, great game, good job.

Garden Panic by barret 2022-10-06T20:10:27Z

Good game, i really like the artstyle and music. Impressive art for learning the tools over the weekend  I didn't quite understand the connection between shooting the birds at the top and the farming. At first i didn't even notice i was supposed to shoot anything up there, i like that the music changes when they spawn tho. Overall a fun and mostly peaceful game, Good job.

10 Seconds Defense by oda 2022-10-06T19:48:53Z

Wow, nice to see another tower defence game and how it couldn't be more different from ours, nice title btw   Gameplay feels solid and there's good visual and audio feedback to the player. You even got random map generation which is great for replaying it. It could use a bit more variation for the towers and enemies tho, it feels a bit repetitive after a short time already. But otherwise its a great solid game for the jam, good job

T-10 by Kyle Spence 2022-10-04T16:22:19Z

Great game, the music is kinda disturbing and building a rocket with those weird sticky rocket parts is quite hard.... So i guess you can't build a rocket in 10 seconds after all, at least i can't

Treasure Tactics by Martta 2022-10-05T16:09:18Z

Cool and well made game, i like the art style and the hexagon map   the explosions are an interesting mix in as well. Nice relaxing music as well. Good Job. However, i am not entirely sure how to win, i found the map but i just ran out of those red points / oranges too fast... and the map changed nothing really, did it?

Treasure Tactics by Martta 2022-10-05T17:14:03Z

@martta Oh okay, i thought the part with the compass pointing to your goal, but i didn't know i could restock oranges, i thought i just had to finish the game before i run out  i might try again to see that treasure :)

Pablo's piñata party by Njitnelav 2022-10-13T07:53:55Z

Nice game, i like the graphics style and the relaxing music. Changing the level every 10 seconds is a good and simple idea. The jumping controls feel a bit floaty, there are some good gdc talks and ressources on optimizing platformer controllers. Overall good job

Between the Gap by Fragile Star 2022-10-06T19:35:10Z

Nice game, really hurts your index finger :joy: Great idea and good execution, very nice music, art and sound design. However, at some point the game over screen pops up, without killing me or destroying all buildings. I can even keep playing behind the game over screen which is weird. But otherwise you guys did a great job on it, in such a short time

Switch and Click by wrac4242 2022-10-06T20:39:17Z

Nice idea and most of the games work just fine. Some critique: - The HTML version doesn't show the whole game unfortunately. You can't see the time you have left. The windows version was fine however. - The arrow keys don't register the input correctly, so 2 of the three games are more luck based than intended  - Maybe that also explains the imbalance i felt, as the matching game was way faster done than the others.

Anyways, great game(s), good job.

Switch and Click by wrac4242 2022-10-07T16:08:27Z

Yeah balancing is hard in this limited time, i feel you :100: :joy:

Clocking Hell by broodjethomaat 2022-10-12T10:02:18Z

Great little puzzle game. Tbh the jumping soundeffect was a little bit annoying  The levels in general were well designed. Good puzzles and i like the resetting time feature. Good job.

10 Second Defence by ZLuca 2022-10-04T15:34:42Z

Hey, thank you for playing. Which version did you play? the upgrading works as intended in the Bugfix version for me... The Final one does crash when going down on 0 seconds through upgrading or buying units, thats the bug i fixed.

10 Second Defence by ZLuca 2022-10-04T20:52:45Z

Wow, thank you lots for all the feedback :joy: It's indeed just my second jam (other was gmtk this year), but i am a software developer so i thought to risk a "bigger" game, it was a lot, but i got everything implemented

I've updated the description to add some more understanding to how to actually play the game :joy: i get that it can be quite confusing and it is very challenging even to me lol.

10 Second Defence by ZLuca 2022-10-04T21:30:32Z

@martta Updated the description. "Final" is the real one and "BugFix" is 1h later.

10 Second Defence by ZLuca 2022-10-04T21:30:39Z

@luckyfeathers thank you for your feedback, i thought about moving the camera forwards but this just felt good enough to me... but you have a good point there. Yes it was ambitious and a little bit smaller scoped could have been beneficial, but i got everything except for vfx into the game, and the logic is working as planned, so im happy :) i should definitely added some tutorialization tho...

10 Second Defence by ZLuca 2022-10-04T21:30:54Z

@tylerstraub @parsonb @nenechico @borgi @thebutterapple24 @eyezzzick @johncoffee @tarnop @sohei @defilerzero Thanks for all your feedback, i can see how it can be a confusing mechanic to figure out. I Updated the description "How to play": the blue time in the top is the "money" and the wave spawning time spending it all kills you right away, as it overruns you with enemies. You can click on the castle/tower and units to see their current health You can click and move units, they attack automatically when enemies are in range.

10 Second Defence by ZLuca 2022-10-04T21:31:06Z

@wrac4242 that is weird, never happened to me in either version, but thank you for the feedback.

10 Second Defence by ZLuca 2022-10-04T21:31:20Z

@cheesecube thank you for your honest words, i will try out your game tomorrow :) I do agree with you on the feedback, there is audio for sfx that play when units attack, but i ran out of time for visual indications... but trust me, it was worse without the sfx :joy:

10 Second Defence by ZLuca 2022-10-04T21:31:28Z

@pete-thorne Due to some shader version issues (not my shaders) i couldn't make a web build yet, but i try to add one for Mac :)

10 Second Defence by ZLuca 2022-10-05T06:12:03Z

@izzo thank you for playing, i am glad you liked it. - yes, i could totally optimize the vizual indications, like you said, only highlighting tiles when you select them, show unit range on the grid, show attacks. So a general better visual communication - oh my... i didn't even realize that the wave counter is basically your highscore, i'm sry xD - the suicide part is hard... even if you go down to 1s you essentially suicide yourself, as all your units only deal 10% damage and enemy waves spawn every second.... balancing your time is the point of the game - yeah, a message to indicate who/what killed you could be good

10 Second Defence by ZLuca 2022-10-05T07:30:51Z

@martta i considered that, but i thought there might be some people who want to play the original uploaded version. So even if the rules allow it, i left the original, but buggy version there, to have a "fair" comparison with competitors who don't want to do bugfixes.

10 Second Defence by ZLuca 2022-10-05T20:48:33Z

@timbaleek glad you liked it :joy: yeah upgrading the castle at the start isn't the best idea. I haven't thought of moving the details out of the way when placing units.... i see how it could be helpful, but it might also be weird not knowing what unit you currently place, UI would need other changes. I'll consider it for the post-jam version. And i am really happy you noticed and liked the flavor text of the speaking fighters  they say different lines for spawning, killing and dying, i thought about voicing the lines, but there is only so much time in a day.

10 Second Defence by ZLuca 2022-10-08T04:50:28Z

@sirdorius yeah visual indication of attacks really is necessary  and there is an almost invisible unit in the game, but its not the one killing you. It is a bug, i just haven't figured out why exactly it happens and therefore how i can fix it. Its probably too big of a fix for in-jam anyways. But thank you for playing and reporting that bug

10 Second Defence by ZLuca 2022-10-22T21:52:58Z

omg, im so stupid... apparently, on one of the page updates, i accidentally opted out of all ratings. :see_no_evil: Being my fist jam on here i just assumed i couldn't see how many ratings i received (thought it made it more neutral/mysterious) thats why i didn't wonder. In 2022 some assumptions are just too risky, it seems. Thank you all a lot for playing, critique and nice conversations, was lots of fun. Next time i try to actually take part in the rankings

The Artist by Tomga 2022-10-05T20:42:04Z

Overall good art. I generally like the effects that the artist gives you and that they're good as well as bad. The rest of the game is a classic card game. Its playable and beatable, so good job  Now to the critique. Sometimes the enemy cards were attacking in random directions. The visual effect of the artist drawing on your cards could be more pronounced/indicating that its the artist drawing on your cards somehow, at first i wondered why my cards kept exploding :joy:

Slime Dungeon Escape by Cheesecube 2022-10-05T07:22:27Z

This is what you call a "kind of similar" game? :joy: its quite different i would say, but i like it, the graphics look great, the slimes are so cute. Its a good base for a game. Could use some more levels, better menus, and more content variety. Good Job.

LD52 — Harvest

Space Garden by Yamzho 2023-01-10T18:18:22Z

Cool game, was a bit difficult to start because i had no shovels for the first two turns (i guess thats a karma lol) but afterwards the gameplay was quite solid. The game looks great however, since you mentioned most of your art is ai generated (mine is too) i have to say that the rules say to opt out of graphics unless they were all made by a human dev within the time of the jam, to be respectful to those who did it. (I hate being that kinda guy, but thats how the rules say it) Since the rules where changing based on a timer, it was quite a challenge to take it all in in one go, letting the player manually flip through them might help. Anyways, everything worked as it should and the game was fun. Good Job

Verdant by JustinMullin 2023-01-11T00:35:29Z

Okay, interesting game. First of all, the graphics look amazing. I liked the story and the tutorial to get the basics out of the way. But still have some observations: - I don't think the defence icons on the tiles are updating properly - It's quite difficult to predict what's going to happen next round, in the automated section. I know what tiles are fired of, what will be attacked (not how often) but once you get to more than a few runes, you completely lose track of them and just place what you think you need. I made lots of those overgrowth runes, had the complete island covered in forest (except for maybe 5 tiles) and generated 80+ energy each turn. I had plenty of attack runes as well, but the damage seemed to be off, or the settlements were waaay more resilient than they look, idk. - Without really controlling what's happening and just controlling how much of it is, its well... hard to control  - When you hover over a tile it doesn't always show you the correct recipe, the ui there updates a bit slower than the one in the bottom left corner. With the lack of a "recipe" book that just makes it harder knowing what combination of runes does what. - It all does fit the theme of the overgrowing forest tho, since i had plants/runes everywhere. - If there are two different stages to runes (sometimes they look different) i didn't really feel a difference

Nevertheless i still enjoyed it and managed to beat it, good job

Harvester by Nathan Varughese 2023-01-11T12:24:50Z

Nice and simple game, scored 56k idk if thats good, the mowers were just zipping around the screen by then :joy:

Props for not using a game engine. Tho that does make it harder controlling the speed of things, i programmed my first game in C++ with nothing but a visual library too, like 10 years ago. When i play that on my computer now the speeds are just of the charts :joy: But hey, you made a good playable game. Good job

Tree of Destiny by givit-game-studios 2023-01-12T12:44:28Z

Really nice game i like the graphical dungeon crawler style. - The strive was the wrong way around for me, i could only strive through walls and not along open spaces. I was very confused at first, but after figuring that out i just didn't use it :joy: - The combat is authentically simple, hit and take damage. Maybe "modernizing" that formula would be cool? - I liked the idea with the apples, but i took more damage than i needed bullets so sometimes i was just running around in circles around the tree. - The graphics of the tree didn't really match up with the surrounding area, not a big deal for the jam i know, but maybe having a pixelated effect over the whole game could improve the feeling in an easy way? Essentially rendering it at a low resolution once and mapping that to the actual resolution, like "a short hike", might be worth looking into, if you want to experiment. Otherwise i liked the idea, and its definitely an interesting interpretation of the theme.

Avian Reaper by MaximBegunov 2023-01-10T19:58:50Z

Nice game, i really like the graphics style feels like playing inside a religious painting. Having this balance between humans and followers is a cool concept and i was just struggling keeping enough humans alive. Really liked the game, good job and great teamwork

Mun Fields by MadreDeDios 2023-01-11T18:43:45Z

Nice idea and solid clicker style gameplay. I like the art and the different day/night cycles. Some advice: - The cheapest and fastest (on 2 moons, from my testing) option shouldn't also be the one thats basically multiplying your investment by 5, so giving you the most money. Maybe there are more potent strategies that i haven't considered with the limited time tho. - The time does be very short for figuring out what grows on what moon and actually using it effectively. - Using the same button for planting and harvesting sometimes lead to me accidently planting crops on empty fields. Its a nice farming clicker game, good job

Harvest Swarm by LuhUchiha 2023-01-15T14:49:12Z

Nice game, i like the mixture of 2bit pixel graphics animations that aren't bound to pixels. The music is also quite chill and not too repetitive.

For the gameplay, apart from what bugs you already mentioned, i felt it weird that the bugs were spawning so often and then directly on a crop tile every time. Maybe having them spawn randomly, but move towards those tiles could be more interesting  As it is it's hard to get anything done cuz you have to run back to the tools every 5s to get the insecticide :joy:

Oh the screen resizes when you go fullscreen, just to let you know.

Anyways, for what i assume from your description only 48h (+10min) its a good little game, that looks great. Good job

Souls harvest by PlusMinus 2023-01-10T13:23:43Z

Nice graphics and sound. I like the take on the gameplay as well. But some critique: - I feel like the traps individually are a bit underpowered, barely anyone ever walks over them. - For most of the time i didn't really find anything to do but watch my skeletons. Drawing cards cost soul and only receiving them on level up is kinda scarce too... Giving the player more cards could help.

Druid's House by LuizGT 2023-01-10T13:05:40Z

Good interpretation of the theme, the scythe moved a bit weird at first, but its quite fun to control once you figure out how. Tho i feel like the progression curve is quite steep at the start, the prizes are a little bit too high. But otherwise its a great game, good job

HarvesTile by Wieczny 2023-01-14T07:22:28Z

I like the idea of combining the soul harvesting with food farming. It looks great as well and i could see the impact of some of the cards i placed. - Unfortunately i couldn't figure out how to control what towns are harvested. He only automatically harvested the first town visible and upgrading that one with a bank made the reaper not harvest at all... despite playing the sound. I thought placing the reapers tile next to new towns might add them to the harvest, but no.

The game looks great and I like the idea of keeping the balance of harvesting enough but not too much. Good job

The Night Harvest by Matank 2023-01-13T16:05:04Z

I like the concept of being the beast (not sure if thats a dog) and stealing the crops from the farmers. The two balloons were too much for me to handle and i just watched the video  I liked the gameplay in general, but being on a "qwertz" keyboard, y and z are switched for me. wasn't really a big deal just something i thought I'd share. Cute game, good job

Christmas Carols by exofrenon 2023-01-11T09:27:46Z

Great game, i really like the concept of playing the songs on the keyboard. I'm so bad at it, i only got pity money every time, i always messed up when the note was changing :joy: while i like the error feedback i almost wish there was no sound to playing wrong, so you could instead hear the song played wrong

But very cool concept and a well done execution. Good job

Cultist Garden by GreenRadiation 2023-01-11T11:13:21Z

Interesting take on a memory game. Tho i wish i had somewhat of a say in what cards are on the field. Its nice and challenging, the mechanics were a bit weird at first, but easy enough once i understood the numbers and the interplay between the two screens. I feel like the transition from harvesting to culting comes too sudden, it already happens before i see the last card i opened, quite confusing. The graphics are really good i like the style. I only managed the "all my cultists died" ending, but all in all a well designed game. Good job

eHarr West err... by bloodycoin 2023-01-11T16:30:28Z

I really liked the start of the game, screen black and i was just clicking to create the plant and start playing. In general it was a fun little exploration game, with nice text prompts and a cool idea. Very well done, good job

Escape From The Ostrobothnia by Tomssuli 2023-01-10T22:59:41Z

Okay seriously, i spent too much time in the game :joy: just finished it after about 2.5h. But there was always something new to discover, some new mechanic to unlock. This might look like a simple farming simulator but is so much more. Great job guys

I do feel like there should be something to let you walk faster as well tho, it was quite slow when the mower broke.

And their is a bug with the last upgrade of the mower, the amount of your hand doesn't change when entering or exiting. Just makes the game a little bit easier, not that it really matters at that point.

FarmTaker by Onizik 2023-01-12T12:54:34Z

Okay nice, i like the art at the end, the game itself is not really changing anything tho. The lives don't work and i made a second run only picking up garbage instead of the veggies and it didn't change the ending. That being said, i liked the ending, so thats something. Good job

The Big Pumpkin by ThorPalsson 2023-01-11T18:22:52Z

Wow cool and quite unexpected game. I liked the story and the different paths through it. I had to play two because the game crashed on my first run after leaving the room with the Teddybears. Even without making the models, its still great how much you put in and the story design etc. Good job

Harvest of the Gods by jitspoe 2023-01-13T17:30:42Z

Wow nice idea, of letting it all being generated by ai. As someone who's been using chat GPT to add a third voice to my head (for arguments, you know, to check the ethics of taking over the world and stuff) And who has used Dall-E for game art for my last two jams its quite interesting to see how weird a game can still be, left entirely to AI :joy: I liked your promotion video. But enough of that. - The art looks okayish, but some things don't really work well together (i know how that feels lol) - The controls for movement are quite messed up to be honest. I played on computer and it was quite hard getting to where i wanted to go. Sometimes pressing up was straight up, sometimes it was diagonally across the screen, even without momentum. - The music worked quite well actually. Had a nice jam to it. - The colliders on the lightning either don't match up or i have terrible aim. - I've never used chat-GPT for code (don't need to) but i imagine its quite a struggle to tie it all together.

All in all, its a fun idea and good teamwork (:joy:)

Disarm Protocol by Starlet 2023-01-13T11:27:47Z

Great idea. I like the graphics and the sounds. - The UI looks good, but its sometimes hard to use, having to drag everything one thing at a time into the scrap maker and not being able to just drop it in the scrapmaker without opening its menu. - For someone just clicking and dragging the mouse button around to move, i hard issues figuring out how to mine scraps  its also weird right clicking the enemies to shoot them, sometimes i moved closer before actually shooting them (because i didn't click em the first time), having shooting/harvesting bound to a different input from walking could improve the feel of it - Enemies and scrap-piles stopped spawning after 5 minutes, seems unintentional. - I thought its about disassembly and tried to disassemble the solar panels and stuff, didn't work, but thats probably my misinterpretation. Anyways, cool graphics and i like the movement mechanic. Good job

Hedgehog Tree by Alexascher 2023-01-10T20:21:00Z

Wow, beautiful. Really enjoyed the game, i love the artstyle and the relaxing music. Everything just looks so adorable. And on top of that the gameplay is quite fun as well. With all the little details and stuff you can hang on the tree. The only thing i found a little bit weird is that the bells ring periodically instead of when they're actually shaking (like a bird flying against it), and that the basket always only fills with apples. But those are tiny details in an otherwise great game. Good Job

The Redder Planet by TRraim 2023-01-11T16:13:12Z

The game looks great, and the music is good as well, once you actually turn it on in the menu. having it off by default seems weird  As for gameplay, i know how to shoot rocks and bushes to harvest them and how to open the crafting menu, but i couldn't figure out how to actually craft anything. Without names to the items it would be initially hard to figure out the recipes anyways. Right click to place didn't work, not even in the Hotfix version.

How do you craft anything?

Automatoes by Cievers 2023-01-10T14:48:19Z

Nice minimalistic game. The graphics and audio go well together and are very relaxing. About the gameplay... does it actually end at some point or do you even have a score of some kind? at some point i just played it like a rapid clicker to collect all the (mostly blue) tomatoes but i'm not sure if thats what i was supposed to do. Is there a win condition? Still, good job, especially on the graphics + audio design

Harbinger's Harvest by Mad Brokli 2023-01-10T18:33:32Z

Cool game. Nice graphics and a catchy soundtrack. Could use some more player feedback and soundeffects, but its of to a great start. I didn't know the machine gun runs empty and died to like 20 slimes :joy: The bossfight was also quite good. Good job

Brain Crops by BinaryPrinciple 2023-01-13T17:07:47Z

Wow what a great take on the theme, i loved it. I normally don't struggle finding my words around people, but the nervousness with the bosses almost hitting me on my third try and then starting he last level with half a heart left is perfectly reflecting the mood :joy: Only thing i noticed was that my dash didn't work, i played the html version. But still a great and unique game, good job

Blighted Crop by Bearacus 2023-01-10T12:38:01Z

Cool game. I really like the artstyle, it reminds me of early 2000 games with its vibrant colors and blocky models. Gameplay wise its fun for a round or two (survived 1min 20s) but it doesn't offer a whole lot of variation. Still a great entry within the time restrictions, good Job.

Ether Warp by Celtican 2023-01-13T15:33:48Z

Great game, i really love the minimalistic, drawn artstyle and the movement mechanics in space. I feel like its way too easy tho and i played quite a bit and couldn't find a victory condition. The Ai also ran straight into planets multiple times. For the time of the jam its still great what you put together, those are just details to improve for release. Still really enjoyed playing it, good job

Wheat harvest paradox by KenForest 2023-01-12T13:41:05Z

What an awesome and unique take on the theme. I really liked the story idea and the cutscene at the end. With a bit of polish, some more content and maybe some music (that also plays in reverse) it could become a good little story game. But its already amazing what you put in for the short scope of the jam, good job

Now some critique/things i noticed: - I harvested 100% on day one, 180% on day 2 harvesting everything, and then i just stopped caring at ~270% on the following two days. Seems weird :joy: maybe thats because the wheat is always respawning at the entire length, instead of exactly where it was harvested? - The upgrades don't do anything, idk if the money increasing one works, but the others sure don't (i bought them on a reverse day, if that changes things) - It was weird that the village/settling was also mirrored to a second one on the other side, with a second mower. Those are just details, other than that it was a great game, on a brilliant idea

Creature Colosseum by Adam Gallina 2023-01-11T14:00:39Z

Cool game. As a fellow card game designer for this jam i must say i really like the art design of your cards and the fact the images pop up. The rest of the UI is a bit too default tho and the cards are quite small in the bottom unless you click them. I would like to play this against an in-game ai opponent, but i agree that its hard to pull of within the time limit. Otherwise it's a good game with good variety on the cards. Good job

Crop++ by TheShelfman 2023-01-11T13:39:38Z

Nice game, really cute and minimalistic design. I do agree with the other commenters that the expansion speed is quite slow. Additionally there isn't too much variation in the tiles either, so it feels slow and repetitive after a while. But it was a fun and relaxing experience. Good job

Rookie Harvester by VA_kuro 2023-01-13T15:48:37Z

Interesting game. I like the artstyle even tho i find it weird that the images change when hovering over the different states. The UI is quite overloaded, i like the effort of putting in the information window, it was still quite... confusing. Maybe making things smaller could help  Its quite the number crunching game with all those percentages etc. It also took me a while to understand how time is progressing, or that it is and how fast  But its a good and short entry to the jam. Good job

Arnold the Reaper by D3kryption 2023-01-10T19:42:15Z

Nice game, quite funny idea and the menu screen and intro scene do be funny. The gameplay itself however is quite weird with that multi second delay on attacks and those random hippie pirates running around trying to kill me. Otherwise its a cool and unique entry. Good Job  (and good job to "Actor" who voiced the lines of "Name" 3 times according to credits )

Bio-Harvest by Back2Zero 2023-01-11T12:03:14Z

Good game. I liked the environmental design even tho it was a bit hard to see, with how dark the game is  - I feel that the time it takes to carry the ghosts to the workbench, craft new bullets or reloading your gun is way too long, especially when it takes 6 bullets to kill those ghosts. - The game started to freeze every other second, the freeze time increased the longer i played. I couldn't survive for long, but i still enjoyed it. Good game and good job

Hivesters by HexStart 2023-01-10T14:27:45Z

Great Teamwork, cool game with a lot of content for this short timespan. While i like the idea of the swarm just consuming everything i often felt it was easier going with individual bugs or small groups, avoid the weapons and just eat the biomass. My larger groups were two hard to control and every stride i lost like half of them because they got stuck on a wall or where just standing around in the middle of nowhere :joy: Its super hard to keep all of them together, idk if thats by design. I still enjoyed it, good job

Celestial Wheatfields - (Roguelike Farming Game) by ludovic-moge 2023-01-11T14:21:32Z

Great game. First of all the graphics just look amazing. I love the swaying of the wheat, i always liked those features in games. Upgrading the scythe and then farming with increased range was just great. The combat however, was too easy, i don't think i got hit once and never upgraded my damage, just walking to the side and attacking those scorpions was enough.

A fun and amazing looking short game, good job

Melon Guardian by tsuyurikuraudo 2023-01-11T09:15:51Z

Cool game, i like the imbalance in the design, that the beasts are more mobile, but the harvester can stun them. The ai does move a little bit random tho, after playing i just let the computer play against itself and some of the beasts just wandered of on the side, while the harvester was continously bullying one of them around :joy: But i guess making a competitive ai isn't really within the time limitations, so you're good. Enjoyed the game, good job

@plusminus its a browser game embedded on the top of the site. Isn't it?

Reap what they sow by ZLuca 2023-01-10T17:54:59Z

Yeah i do agree that the amount of each card isn't as balanced as it could be... i tried multiple different constellations and the shovel is actually the individually most common card, but still overshadowed by all the others i guess... @yamzho as for the amount of turns its quite similar... i thought too many turns would make the game feel too long for people, i had it at 10 turns once and that was too much, but maybe because i played the game an awful lot for testing lol. Tying the winning condition to the amount of turns wasn't ideal, but i needed to do it somehow :joy: Are you talking about all card animations or specifically the attacks? because those are heavily slowed down so the player can react, if they have a pitchfork on hand... but i guess it makes it seem a bit slow, when he doesn't  Oh and there are actually 4 different opponents. Thanks for your feedback

Reap what they sow by ZLuca 2023-01-10T23:21:59Z

@justinmullin Thank you for playing and for your great feedback. I do agree with most of the points you listed. - The shovels should definitely increase, but it is also possible to use them wisely on your own crops, technically you can plant, water and harvest in one round, or at least water and harvest. - Idk if you noticed, but you can also plant crops everywhere, not just in your own piles. It aint really useful, but hey. The only advantage of only harvesting your crops would be to not anger the other players, or give them a chance to defend. - As for selling the recipes without doing them  idk, they are not really preventing your from anything, there is no limits to your cards on hand... maybe reducing the amount of recipes could help tho - I thought to make selling cards just one action per turn (if you decide to sell cards), instead of an action per card. Making it completely free might make it too easy. - Yeah the digging through the deck isn't really happening much right now, the amount of cards is not properly balanced with the amount of turns/rounds. I should do more math on that for future games

Glad you liked the game and thanks again for the feedback :v:

Reap what they sow by ZLuca 2023-01-11T17:58:17Z

@thorpalsson Thanks for playing and your feedback. There are sounds for most cards in the game and for the coins dropping (really proud of that one lol). As for the music i was actually of two minds. I thought about putting some low-fi harvest music in for the ambiente, but decided against it since it's not really mandatory for a card game and it wouldn't have been created by me.

But thanks again, I'm actually impressed by myself with how good it already looks

Reap what they sow by ZLuca 2023-01-11T19:44:46Z

@joanna-skorupa thanks for the feedback, i agree the rng can be quite mean sometimes, I should focus more on balancing for future jams  I had runs like that, just brussel sprouts and hate stew. I put those in as a joke, to be mean... maybe I put in too many.

But for the act of selling, just select the card and click the shop. Mango sells quite good.

Reap what they sow by ZLuca 2023-01-12T05:23:44Z

@eddrw Glad you liked it, but trust me games like that are fun with the right group of people. Even tho no ability is the same, you could compare the "interactivity" with the other players to something like "exploding kittens". Which is a lot of fun exactly because of stealing from others and throwing them under the bomb.

Thanks for letting me know about the windows issue, i think i forgot to allow rescaling the window or smth, i'll fix it later ✌️

Reap what they sow by ZLuca 2023-01-13T09:35:59Z

@ntb896 Thanks for playing, yeah i should definitely add a short tutorial on where to click for the final version, buti thought, once you understand what is what, its quite intuitive  but thats probably the dev-glasses I'm wearing.

@celtican Thank you, that real live messiness was exactly what i was going for :muscle: - I wanted to make it symmetrical, like a real card game with human players. I think the main reason they feel so weird, is because they all have different goals, potatoheart and billy really struggle with winning, because they're too nice :joy: - Hmm, well on the one side the coins are a way to portray your score, and on the other you can buy new cards with them... but i already have one more use in mind I'm gonna implement. - The recipes being able to use cards from your field would be an interesting approach  tho, when i want to use them, i just steal my ingredients together from other players lol - Having the shop revealed so you know what you're spending your money on is actually a good idea! I was thinking of adding a discard pile for sold crops from which you can buy, but having it being it open like that would reduce input randomness and increase strategy! Great idea - Yeah no, the recipes gonna stay cards :joy: together with the multiple piles they might be easier to pull of tho - The free card draw at the start of the turn is exactly so you don't get stuck doing nothing. Before that i had multiple instances where i didn't have coins and no useful card. Now it at least allows to get out of there. Thank you a lot for your feedback

@matank Yeah well, the mechanics themselves i came up with in like 20min, but making it digital is a whole other deal :joy: It took only slightly longer than anticipated, i didn't have time adding voiced dialogue lines as i planned, but apart from that it worked out great. - The fruit salad and other recipes require you to have all the ingredients listed on hand... I wasn't very descriptive in its description, my bad

Reap what they sow by ZLuca 2023-01-28T17:22:43Z

@bloodycoin Wow, thank you a lot for that very in depth feedback. You make some really good points about not really being able to place the gameplay feel

First of, I agree with everything you said. - If you do the maths for the crow, it does look bad  - Yeah initially i planned of making selling cost just 1 action per turn for any cards sold, i didn't get around implementing that tho. - I thought the flying cards would already help with understanding what's going on, but you're right, without knowing what all the cards do, you don't know what exactly is happening. - Helping others does make you look more friendly in their eyes. Its like low key diplomatic. If you help someone they're more likely to help you back (most of them at least) same for attacking. But maybe encouraging helping could be worth it  - hmm I do like cooperative games as well, but most of the ones i played were about escaping or saving something. Making a fabulous garden sounds like a weird goal :joy: and a completely different game, not necessarily bad tho.

Thanks again, really appreciate the feedback and getting the game feel right is definitely something I'll focus more on for the next game. Even tho it might be just as challenging as balancing in the time window  :v:

Forget-Me-Not: Harvesting Memories by eddrw 2023-01-11T09:47:09Z

Nice story. I really like the concept of harvesting/growing memories, its a nice interpretation of the theme. Gameplay wise i would only add, that the updated journal page should show, when interacting with items at the clients house. (i had to come back here because i didn't really know what to do, and though the interacting wasn't doing anything, i didn't know there was a journal, or what it does)

Otherwise it was a great idea and good story, good job

Honey Inc. by DurkaGames 2023-01-10T13:38:09Z

The buttons don't work for me on the windows build, so i can not start the game.

Honey Inc. by DurkaGames 2023-01-10T13:48:52Z

Alright figured it out, you can switch between the buttons with a and d and "click" them with enter to start the game. So essentially pressing enter is enough to start the game, but maybe add that to the description, as its not really intuitive. So now about the game. Its good, i really love the artstyle and the idea of rythmically shouting at them to get them to work is cool. I went through all stations until i noticed they have do be done in specific order lol, but i guess thats part of the experience. I love the credits. Overall good job, great teamwork

Hopping Harvester by ntb896 2023-01-13T09:44:41Z

Quite a fun and satisfy small game. I liked the artstyle kinda reminds me of downwell. - Maybe making the things that kill you a different color could help the readability of the game, i started of thinking i die when touching the sides of the screen or the top. I know the spikes are a bit more spikey than the rest, but yeah still spikes. - I think the bar shooting at the bottom was just for visuals, but maybe making something come from the bottom so you have to get over and shoot could add an additional challenge?

Great game, good job

Dice Wheat Me by Joe Eric 2023-01-11T15:54:53Z

I like all the word jokes and tooltips. It does look like a nice game and has a cool concept with the random events and stuff, but is there any other way of getting farmers, than random chance? Cuz i got the first farmer at the end of year 2 and then some more in year 3, but without farmers, after building the buildings there is not really anything to do except spamming the dice to roll. I saw your other answers, still seems like a weird Choice to me

The game looks great and does have a quite relaxing atmosphere. Good job

Barn Game by Zach Hsu 2023-01-11T08:32:44Z

Great first jam game, i really like the art style. The combat is simple but on point and works really well. I do agree with some of the other commentors about balancing and that the scarecrow basically died way more than the barn, particularly the corn did a lot of damage. But i know, balancing is hard, i cant get it right either so there's that  Otherwise a great little game, good job

Money grows on trees by Fluburbio 2023-01-11T11:37:59Z

Beautiful little clicker game. I do agree with the previous comments on it being a bit too easy too fast, but hey, better a too easy game than a too hard one :v: Other than that, i really don't have anything to add.

Enjoyed playing it, was a nice and quick experience, good job

Plant, Harvest, Make money! by huozhedexiaoc 2023-01-11T10:22:13Z

Cool game. At first i thought it a bit simplistic, but the ripening mechanics and how the crops interact with each other are quite deep. The puzzles are well crafted and some were quite challenging to complete. I like the ability to skip some puzzles, but an ability to select previous ones to try them again after letting your mind ponder would be cool too. Its a great entry, good job

Macrogreens by joshedev 2023-01-11T09:03:22Z

Really good game, i really liked the dorky artstyle and humor. Great voice acting, together with the fiddly mechanics its a great combination. Sometimes i just wished for some kind of trash can cuz things cept cluttering up my workspace, but i guess thats by design :joy: Good job guys, great teamwork
