Fun Game! got a score of 2340, but i needed a few turns to figure it out
The cards and turns put a really nice spin on the harvesting genre! The music is nice as well. Starting with 25 turns left might be a bit much, I got a bit burned out after about 15 rounds.
The AI generated art was really nice, the gameplay was fairly fun but a little slow.
I really liked this game! I don't think I was very good at it, but I played all the way to the end and had a great time doing it. Very pleasant game and well done. If I had to give a complaint, I had a hard time remembering when I was out of points, so I would spend a while wondering why my cards wouldn't work. A little sound effect or flashing UI element would have made it a tad easier. Aside from that, a really good entry :)
EDIT: I just saw that the art was AI generated, I never would have guessed and you did a great job with the prompts generating a bunch of cohesive assets!
A lot of fun! I wish there was more card variety. The AI generated art is incorporated well. Only issue I had was background vegetables floating over the game board sometimes.
My high score: 4200
Interesting take. Controls are a bit janky, but not too much as to take away from the fun. Could maybe add a clear objective a part from the highscore.
Of course the suggestions are for after the jam, we all know the 2-3 day panic that falls when the jam starts XD
Damn, your game was really well produced. I don't know how many people participated, but congratulations are in order, it's very beautiful visually, the gameplay is very cool. There was an hour when it crashed, but I think it was my PC that had a problem. But congratulations are in order. If you guys keep making it and you can send it to me later, I'd love to play and keep giving feedback. Ah, take the opportunity to play our game too and let me know what you think: https://ldj.am/$318266
Awesome idea and good implementation.
Cool game, was a bit difficult to start because i had no shovels for the first two turns (i guess thats a karma lol) but afterwards the gameplay was quite solid. The game looks great however, since you mentioned most of your art is ai generated (mine is too) i have to say that the rules say to opt out of graphics unless they were all made by a human dev within the time of the jam, to be respectful to those who did it. (I hate being that kinda guy, but thats how the rules say it) Since the rules where changing based on a timer, it was quite a challenge to take it all in in one go, letting the player manually flip through them might help. Anyways, everything worked as it should and the game was fun. Good Job :thumbsup:
Incredible game, had a ton of fun playing it
The visuals are great, the gameplay loop is engaging, interesting and fun and the music is nice. Overall an amazing game
That was fun! great work!
Thanks everyone for playing my game ! I'll make sure to test your games within the next few days ! :)
@mola0404 Glad you enjoyed ! :) Yeah, I know it takes a few turn to understand the mechanics. I should have made a better help screen.
@supremekurt Yeah, 25 turns might be a bit long. But i also felt like less turns meant that the "deck-building" part was less meaningful.
@surfa Thanks! I had to modify the AI work though to make it fit better (mainly for the interface, not much for the card art).
@slimabob Yeah, I realised that with my wife testing the game. I had it on my list but forgot to do something about that kind of feedback. It wasn't even a big deal to make it... I guess in the rush, I completely obliterated that issue...
@htw6174 Thanks for playing ! :) Well done on your score ! :) I wish I had time to add more card variety too, I had a lot of ideas. But I am not a fast coder, so... ;) About the floating vegetables, I wanted to gice some depth to the scene, but maybe i could have changed their opacity when they were floating over the board.
@theherborist Thanks for the feedback ! :) Yeah, card selecting can be a bit weird sometimes. About adding a clear objective, you're right. But I was maybe 5 or 6 hours into the jam and had a clear idea of the game theme / rendering / gameplay, but no clear win/lose condition. So i went for the score in a limited amount of turns.
@glaupe-cabral Thanks a lot ! I was alone making the game, just being helped with AI for a part of the art (a big part though). I had one crash that kept coming back (rarely, but it still did) during the testings with my particles generator, your crash might have come from there. I'll probably work on the game in the future, I'll make sure to send you updates ! :)
@wolforce Thanks! Glad you liked it!
@zluca Aaaah, karma's a bitch! Haha! I wanted to make sure that the player had a way to dig the ground and plant something on turn 1, but I ran out of time... And about the art, don't worry about "being that guy". I actually agree with you : I should have unchecked that box. I guess this is a way to see if people will be harsh on ratings or not with people using AI...
@zsharpfire Thanks a lot ! :)
@wobbleblocks Thanks ! (:
I did enjoy the gameplay a lot. Unfortunately I crashed the game with the watering can.
Hi there! First of all - Fantastic game! The mechanics are simple but can be challenging because of RNG. Still enjoyable though. The cards are also easy to understand. Kudos!
Great game!
Cool game, wish I could produce such graphics and such amount of time
Awesome game. Cool game loop and cool balance. When you already understand the game, you use cards much smarter and it's interesting. Only I didn't understand the point of making a book/tutorial alternating in time. That was a very strange decision, but okay. In general, thank you so much for such a pleasant game).
Really nice game. I liked the idea of getting a new card every now and then and that some of the card effects actually lose you cards. Growing the carrots and veggie was not quite clear as I kept on guessing which plants were ready to harvest.
Super cool! the concept has a simple but is very well done, also I love the art, using AI is a very clever time save
Well done! Really cool ^_^ I actually also made a card game, it's not as good looking as yours though :D Must have been quite tough to have the art so consistently generated :o
A very interesting entry! Loved the mix of card-based games with a farming sim, it's a really nice mix of genres. Nice art & music. A few suggestions on the game:
- I couldn't figure what watering does: it didn't seem to affect growth at all. I noticed that you can only grow meteorites on non-watered tiles, but then it seems that the right strategy is not to use watering at all :) Guess it's either a bug/unfinished feature, or the watering mechanics needs some better explanation maybe. - The "grow a plant to neighbouring 3x3 tiles" card seems to only work with meteorites: I've tried applying it to all other plant types, to all tile types (non-digged, digged, watered), it didn't seem to ever do anything. However, the text on the card suggests that it should work! - When you don't have enough energy to play a card, the game still allows you to pick it up, but then when you click it again it just doesn't do anything, which is quite confusing. Maybe you shouldn't be able to pick such a card? In any case some indication that you don't have enough energy would be cool: maybe highlight the energy points, maybe play an "error" sound, something like that. - The general balance of the game felt a bit off: I had too many "plant something" cards and too little "harvest" cards. In fact, I ended the game with a whole lot of things to harvest, which I couldn't do thanks to the cards :)

Once again, thanks everyone for playing my game!
@pikkufighter Glad you enjoyed! I think I fixed the crash. It must have come from water particles spawning when watering plants.
@neilcorre2k6 Thanks ! I tried to keep the card text simple (I am developing a tactical card game -a physical one, not video game- and as it is targetted at experienced tcg players, i know i have a tendancy to overcomplicate things).
@taikinaaa :thumbsup:
@cez02 I used AI for this jam to create the UI and the cards illustrations. I had to use Gimp to harmonize everything and make it blend better.
@paulsams The tutorial book rotating system is not ideal. I should have gone for buttons to click to go through pages. But I am glad you liked the game ! :)
@eeperdeheap I tried to make as distinguishable as possible the difference between plants, but I guess I could have done better !
@zuwu Thanks a lot !
@dawnreaver As said before, I had to go through Gimp to harmonize the AI work. But as long as you have the right prompt base, it makes things easier. I'll have to try your card game, I am a big fan of that genre ! :)
@lisyarus Thanks for the long feedback ! :) • Water does affect growth, but I think I have put the cursor at the wrong place. Salads can't grow without water. Carrots and cabbage grows in one turn with water and can take longer without. Meteoritias can grow with water. • It should grow to empty dug areas. I'll check that... • Yeah, I did not implement feedback for when the player does not have energy left. This is a mistake. And being able to pick the card does not help. • The balance can seem off if you did not get the right options in the "add a card" screen. I did not have the time to properly balance this.
To all, thanks a lot, again ! :)
Fun game, a lot of replayability for trying out different strategies and really enjoyable. Fun game and it feels very polished, didn't find any issues while playing so overall great entry. Good job!
Nice visuals and this felt really polished!
An interesting one. I felt like I never felt pressured to make decisions about my deck, maybe because I had lots of turns to work with.
You already were there when I played it on stream, yet here's the link to it again: 😊 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnWqmLOzSps
Ah, nice, this is quite similar to what I initially wanted to do, but dropped due to not being able to balance game in time :slight_smile:
First, the visuals - very well made and thematic, has retro (60's-70's) futuristic feeling to it :thumbsup:
Chill background music and sfx for every interaction, so well placed, I didn't even notice them being there first time playing.
The gameplay itself was interesting and fun, yet, it didn't have that `let's try a bit more / again` feel, at least for me. My though why it could be: * The working field was too big/empty, at least with what I could do with my cards in a turn. * The plants grow too fast - this is I guess in line with my previous point - longer growth times, you need to use more space. * Planting feels underpowered - you dig/harvest 9 tiles, water on average - 4, but plant - only one. Wild growth fixes that a bit, but you usually get around 3 tile more instead of wanted 7-9. And each seed takes card in hand, some even action, so if you are planting, you don't usually do anything else, and even have left-over actions. * I liked row/column dig, harvest tiles. But would want to see the same for seeding / watering. So you are then more inclined to clear more rocks. * Rock clearing is a nice addition. But feels missing something. Either you need to add more rocks? or make the card less powerful, but not used up, so overtime you would open up more and more space? instead of one opening and that's it. Unless you take another cards. Which... * ... Is usually not worth it, because you have space for your fast growing plants already. * Somewhat the same issue with the card that harvests all plants. Not really useful, especially with that price, as you don't have that many plants anyway. * Watering can was a bit frustrating, as you didn't know in advance how the water would be sprayed and could not plan around it. * I think it would be interesting this if you combined current mechanics with **Tetris** - that is each card would a predefined and randomly assigned tetris-like shape that the effect applies to. e.g.: carrot seeds in `L`, dig in `2x2` block, then harvest in `I`, then another carrot seeds card in `z`, watering can in `T`. That would also solve the watering can frustrations, and would be rather interesting puzzle.
One UX downside, is the `space gardening for dummies` (tutorial) - I didn't like it cycles automatically, and the waiting time was too short, and too long in other cases. Basically wanted to have a button, that lets you switch between pages manually.
Oh, and I managed to get stuck two times when picking a card (played `hotfix v3`): Space_garden_stuck1.png Space_garden_stuck2.png
Overall I quite enjoyed it, and would love to see if there are any more updated later on :slight_smile:
P.S. Some run instructions (/download links) would be nice, not everybody has JRE installed :upside_down:
Awesome game! It is really interesting to see what you can pull off with AI help. Just one complain: my game stopped responding after I tried to choose Bulldozer as a new card. I would love to see even more types of crops and mechanics, maybe bugs that you need to kill with pesticides? Anyway, great job!
