LD46 — Keep it alive

Emergency Override by Listonos 2020-05-03T03:18:23Z

Really cool game  and a really good take on "hacking" that's pretty unique from how other games have done it before. Definitely took me a few tries to get the hang of things, but I really enjoyed playing it! Amazing graphics and audio, the voice acting and humor was perfect.

The game was a nice take on the theme, overall amazing job with this game!

Pet shop INC. by Hadik 2020-04-21T21:34:47Z

Great game! Loved the art and style! The 3000 coins did seem a bit high to go to though, I stopped after getting about 150 coins after the last animal. It was fun to play, great job!

The Vending Machine by wrexialmt 2020-05-03T04:02:21Z

The general concept is there, I'm personally a big fan of sort of background games like this (such as Cookie Clicker) but the final result was definitely lacking a bit of content. I would suggest giving the player something to do while they are waiting for the lights to go out, so that they aren't just sitting there doing nothing. Things such as maybe other random things breaking on the vending machine that they need to fix or maybe some sort of restocking the vending machine. In general even for games that are meant to run in the background, there needs to be something going on to engage with the player. From my time playing this game, it pretty much just seemed like a couple minutes of the player doing literally nothing and no real feedback to the player, then 1 second of the player clicking a button, and then repeat.

With all of that said, still good job on getting a game done for this game jam, that is always an accomplishment by itself. I look forward to the next game jam you do with hopefully some of the feedback applied.

Todd and Bobb's Excellent Adventure by bigbadollie 2020-04-24T00:07:26Z

Really cool concept, I thought the light leading you to the next lantern station was a cool idea. Really great job on the level design and feel of the game, it definitely fit the theme well.

I wasn't too big of a fan of the sprint not being infinite. Since attacking the enemies cost energy, it seemed that my only real chance of getting far was to dodge all the enemies, but with the sprint only lasting a few seconds and then having to press shift again (after already holding it down) I would often just forget to sprint again and then die. It could just be me not being used to key board and mouse, but it was just an observation I had.

Really good job guys, I enjoyed played and it looks really good! :)

Carnivorous by James Greenleaf 2020-04-23T23:30:41Z

I thought it was a fun game and enjoyed playing! I wasn't able to beat the game (I'm assuming that when you reach the full immunity that you would win?) but after a bit of getting used to the movement speed of things I was able to make it about half way.

I thought the fact that enemies would bounce off of each other and go in a bunch of different ways was a really nice touch. Often in these types of games all the enemies just go right through each other, but this added a nice touch of chaos :)

As one of the other comments said, a way to gain back some HP would be nice and maybe make it a bit easier, but overall great job!

House Plant Hero by dualtagh 2020-05-03T02:52:55Z

Fun and simple, I enjoyed playing it! Definitely gets chaotic fast as more and more plants start spawning. The hitboxes for where to water the plants were a bit difficult to line up at times, I think extending the hitbox to include where the player is standing might make it a bit easier to line up, but maybe it was that way to make it a challenge!

Perfect graphics and audio for the game's style, overall amazing job!

Tree of Life by noneegy 2020-04-24T00:22:09Z

Fun little platform that fit the theme pretty well! Good job guys!

The killing enemies mechanic confused me a little bit, as some times they would die if I touched them, but other times they wouldn't? It seemed like for the most part the grey enemy needed to be ran into from the back and the green enemy need to be jumped on? Sometimes though they would die from other areas of running into or just not die.

Overall though I enjoyed the game, congrats again!

Tanks For Nothing by SamLeCreator 2020-05-03T03:30:11Z

Really well done game! I don't know what that fish did to have everyone hate it so much but I better be getting the employee of the month award for fixing everything! Graphics, audio, and concept were all really good, nice take on the theme. I really enjoyed playing, great job!

Keep The Spirit Stone Allive by Ausstein 2020-04-23T17:01:43Z

Cool concept, I like the RTS feel of it without needing to actually control the units. It took me a few minutes / tries to truly understand what was happening and how it all worked, but I enjoyed play it :)

A few things to note, some of which I see other people have already mentioned: - More sounds would definitely add a lot more to this. It would be nice to hear some sounds when waves spawn, or the enemies are fighting, as well as some ambient music in the background. For a decent amount of time I didn't actually hear anything, as I was up to high. - The concept of the forest growing was really cool and a nice visual touch, but it might be nice if the trees didn't spawn in the path that the enemies would take. After my forest grew a good amount, I could really see where the animals or enemies were, so I was kind of in the dark of what was happening. - The `Keep playing` button did allow me to continue growing my forest, but no new enemies spawned? (Maybe that's on purpose?)

Overall though great game jam game :) Very nice job, especially for working on this solo

Save Dave by Kirbloid 2020-05-03T03:11:43Z

Amazing game, or in reality, amazing games. Having to multi task and basically play two games at once is a really cool concept and was really fun to play through. You did a great job on the graphics, the "Tamagotchi" looked and felt really polished, and having to move it around the screen to fight off the demons was a cool mechanic.

My only suggestion would be some sort of indicator of your health (unless there was one and I missed it?) as some playthroughs I would get hit a few times in the beginning, then forget about it, and a few minutes later I would forget I took a decent amount of damage then get hit again and die.

Overall though, amazing game, especially for the short amount of time it was done in. I really enjoyed playing it

Cold Cold World by kursadacar 2020-04-23T23:47:59Z

Fun little game, good job! It was a nice touch that if a meteor hits an ice berg that isn't you, it also breaks apart. I wasn't expecting that and it actually saved me a few times :)

One thing I would suggest is that the meteor sound either isn't so prominent or that maybe the sound only started when the meteor is closer to impact. After surviving just a minute or two, the meteors where spawning constantly, and the audio was nothing but the loud meteor sound. I think the growing target that you have is a good visual indicator of the danger that is coming for the player, so the sound could be toned down just a bit.

Again, good job on your first submission, I enjoyed the game!

Lonely Year by Shanzhai 2020-04-21T21:09:42Z

Pretty cool game! I appreciate the trial and error of things, I definitely died multiple times, even when I thought I had figured out all the right steps to take. The art was great and the changing seasons were a nice touch. Great job!

My only feedback would be to either have some sort of display when the game is waiting on the player to press space to continue, or mention it in the description somewhere, as I had thought my web browser just wasn't running the game correctly at first.

Fading Ember by Brelx 2020-05-03T03:42:54Z

Very hard game (or maybe I am just not great at platformers  ) but pretty fun. Great graphics and audio.

The controls felt like they could use a little bit more work if there was time. Mostly jumping felt a bit too floaty, which made certain parts really difficult, especially when there were really small platforms to land on. I would also suggest making `space` also jump, as using `w` to jump didn't feel too natural for me. I'd also suggest putting the controls for the game somewhere in the description of the game, as it took me a few tries to figure out exactly what the controls were.

Overall though, nice job on the game, I did enjoy playing it!

Protect The Plant by Metehan 2020-05-03T04:29:10Z

Cool concept, and I can tell there was a lot more you guys wanted to add, but probably ran out of time (how it always goes with Game Jams  ) Graphics and audio were good and fit the game well.

Some feedback though:

- I would allow the player to move and shoot at the same time. It was a bit awkward that once I moved, I no longer could shot, even for a few seconds after I stopped moving. This really discouraged me from moving around and exploring the map. - There should be a few side objectives for the player to focus on as well. The map of the game was pretty large, but from what I could tell, there wasn't really anything for the player to do in it, and therefore there was no reason for the player to leave the plant area, meaning that ~90% of the map wasn't being used. This could be fixed by giving the player a reason to go explore the map, such as picking up ammo, health, or maybe some sort of enemy spawner the player could go and destroy to slow down the spawns of enemies for a short amount of time. - Since Game Jams have very limited amount of time, it's better to have a smaller scope of mechanics that are polished, rather than a lot of mechanics partially implemented that don't affect the game in the end.

Overall though, nice game, congrats on making a playable game for a game jam in a short amount of time. I look forward to playing your game at the next game jam!
