LD38 — A Small World

Booster's Day Out by paulstraw 2017-04-24T10:32:36Z

Nice game! Reminds of one space sim game. One thing to note is that the landing is very sensitive, a little tilt and it's gone. Also those boundaries/walls do not fit well into this game. Still, very good job!!

LD39 — Running out of Power

Truck, Fuel my Rockets by garethjenkins 2017-08-03T18:45:13Z

Almost everyone mentioned the controls, I will say I do like the look of the game. The sound effects are very interesting, especially when the cars collects fuel pods.

Click The Power by hungare 2017-08-07T16:24:02Z

Lovely game. I like the looks, and the idea. As an improvement, would be nice to see a timer or the number of the wave out of total. And maybe a small hint in the game how to play (I read it on the LD page). If you plan improving it, might add more levels, or the need to select at least 2-3 images from a grid, not just one row. Overall very nice game :)

VoltRush by Reiv 2017-08-07T18:12:44Z

Amazing game! Going over the mentioned bugs, overall has nice graphics and interesting game play. And the audio is nice. It challenges you to make it to the end.

FIZZLE by djfariel 2017-08-09T17:14:45Z

Dark and gritty atmosphere, in a good sense. Makes you think wisely how to spend your energy while trying to explore. The fact that the generators are not there forever adds some challenge. It looks good, and the sound contributes very well to the atmosphere. Haven't met any bugs yet. I have to activate one more generator..

Energy Robot - A tale that never ends by Rixud 2017-08-13T20:12:24Z

Good sounds and not bat at all mechanics and animations. The movement feels somehow strange, but doable. Sometimes there is a battery right before an obstacle, making it impossible to grab it without hitting the obstacle. After playing a while, the game feels like it's the same. Still, a nice submission :)

BugsTD by TheMonsterFromTheDeep 2017-08-11T19:08:22Z

I also couldn't pan the camera, web and windows versions tested. Good idea and mechanics. Couldn't see any enemies, probably because of the camera issue. Overall, good game idea :)

DONNIE_VR by internetpaulicy 2017-08-01T18:42:04Z

Looks promising. Adding some new retro wave soundtrack will make it sound great. The car is hard to steer, can't pick up properly the fuel or switch lanes. Great implementation so far.

Solaris by wenright 2017-08-07T18:21:39Z

Expected to see some Stanislav Lem novel here :) Joke aside, it a catchy game. Simple, attractive, good old feel of graphics and sound.

Lights Out at Station 5 by Wisp 2017-08-01T18:42:17Z

Hey, you still tried and did something. Yes, it broke. You just need to see what went wrong and try to fix it (check some meshes, navmesh settings, rigidbodies and physics). I like the idea, and pretty funny to see those aliens flying down.

I also had some issues, ran out of time, didn't make some features. You gained some experience and I believe next time you will do it much better :)

Hope Glider by Spotline 2017-08-11T18:57:18Z

This is the game I played the most during this ludum dare! I find it very interesting. Some improvements would be to increase the level size, or make it random and bigger, and with each success to make it harder. And it feels strange to control the glider when it's over the top edge. But still a great game!

Corrupted by Shess 2017-08-11T19:22:36Z

Interesting mechanics. Would like to have sounds and some dynamic background sound track. Wouldbe interesting to see a multiplayer out of this.

Out of Power by cpv 2017-07-31T22:14:39Z

Thank you, mango-malarkey!

Planetarium by Irishbruse 2017-08-13T20:32:25Z

Good concept, but might need some changes. The laser actually works, but it takes too much time and energy to destroy others. And other ships are very annoying, trying to push me all the time, and they are so many! I have to use energy to make maneuvers, and I have no idea in what direction shoud I go properly. But a good submission for first LD :)

The Scrapyard by Jake Shaw 2017-08-01T20:47:18Z

Looks good, has nice visuals. Managed to get somewhere and missed the golden trophy.

Indiana Stones by Akshay Katare 2017-07-31T21:58:58Z

Hi There.

You should check your itch.io link, it looks like it's non existent. The GDrive works fine.

Indiana Stones by Akshay Katare 2017-08-01T16:32:08Z

I really enjoyed the graphics. Good sound. Small bug when sometimes the fire pickup is spawned where the character can't go. And the food is hard to find. Still, lovely game.

Ted Crashed! by Sebastian-M 2017-08-01T16:01:31Z

There is a serious bug, if I press E the game closes. But took some time to navigate the world, pretty awesome graphics and style! And the song is nice too.

Icarus Launch by ditzel 2017-08-03T18:35:48Z

Pretty game with nice graphics. I like the mechanics. After the third try I went from a few hundreds to over 6000 feet. Would be nice to have on a lower volume in the background some fun music. And it's fun and challenging.

Neon Knights: Mech Fighter by Srolfe657 2017-08-01T17:29:45Z

Cool intro you have, the graphics reminds of some '80s theme. The soundtrack is nice, and it's interesting to have a local multiplayer. I was confused at first by the Control menu, the windows build doesn't have this issue:

buf.PNG

Power Surge by Neathan 2017-08-01T18:14:32Z

Neat game! Simple and interesting, nice mood. Easy to pick up, and getting into it. Would be cool to have some bigger levels to navigate through. And as mentioned, the possibility to duck/crouch would be a good improvement.

The Last Question by Terribly Awesome Games 2017-08-02T17:05:01Z

I have seen some comics adaptation, but this is something unique. Well done on all aspects! The small puzzles are an interesting addition.

Improvement to avoid sudden end: [ SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!! ] a small improvement would be to make in the end some messages or hints about how the AC collected all data, became self consciousness, and said the magic words.

Automated Explorer by Aircraft Terrier 2017-08-01T19:57:08Z

Simple, nice, well done. Nice retro graphics, spent some time in it.

Batterime by Hadrien 2017-08-09T16:10:40Z

Wow! This game can give some drive. I really like how it sounds, the soundtrack is awesome, and nice sounds for little things. Interesting mechanics, and challenging. Haven't made it further than the second level, can't reach some platform above. Overall, very impressive!

Runnerbot LD39Entry by Pixel Game Wizard 2017-08-09T18:34:12Z

Very well for a first ludum dare! Just add some nice audio, and its' almost perfect. I got easily after 11000, but then ran out of power. Increasing the limit might help a little. Nice diversity of enemies and things to stop you. Very well for first LD.

Shadow Crawl by Connor Hagan 2017-08-01T17:08:46Z

Challenging game, and has some specific mood. Some minor bugs, but they are not critical. Haven't got very far yet, in some places I'm getting overwhelmed :)

Leaf Runner by David Greene 2017-08-09T17:44:24Z

Interesting gameplay. Hard at the beginning to understand what and where. Car controls are harder than I expected, but not deadly hard. I was looking already for other cars and how to exit the car intuitively :) Really like the top down view. Some nice soundtrack would be an improvement.

The Greater Good by Hush 2017-08-07T18:08:14Z

Great graphics and has nice audio effects. One thing which bothers me is at every restart I have to go through the mini training (pressing X to skip make the voices overlap).

Shade Runner by ShadeRunner 2017-08-02T20:09:43Z

Couldn't understand what exactly means to be a clone, until I gave it a few tries. I thought the clone was left behind me and I am running with the original. I like the graphics, the AI follows nicely. Not sure if the energy is well balanced sometimes, but after getting the idea the game became pretty addictive to try again and again. Definitely an idea worth continuing :)

Murder on 39th Street by vadinci 2017-08-01T20:30:38Z

Not a big fan of narratives and text, but this implementation is very original. Nice graphics, I like how the music creates the mood, along with the ongoing gameplay. Great job!

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Robox! by ted 2017-12-04T19:44:58Z

Can confirm the bug mentioned by @pkenney, after restarting the level, the hearts do not count anymore.

Other than that, some music would make it even more awesome!

LD44 — Your life is currency

Mint by nopogo 2019-05-01T17:17:55Z

Felt dark and .. dystopian a little. Managed to follow the in game "manual" and some general knowledge to produce some coins (although the sizes are not documented, had to guess). Managed to create some coins, until I messed something. Overall, great dark implementation of the theme.

Lunch Lord by madjackmcmad 2019-04-30T15:14:55Z

Funny and addictive game, too bad you can't save your progress, although it has its magic in this. Very good gameplay and audio, with nice drawn visuals and interesting mechanics.

A strange bug after you submit the score, the game freezes, and you cannot click on anything.

For those who can not upload the score, you need to allow the game in the firewall settings.

Paper Combat by tgiant 2019-04-30T09:51:27Z

Impressive game. The animations are interesting, and feels fluid. The AI is strange, but nonetheless good job.

Just and advice, since not many might now about cmd and how to run java apps, you might want to consider adding some startup scripts (start.bat, start.sh, with a java check and the command "java -jar game.jar") so the user starts the game easier.

LAZERBOI by SteveCrse 2019-04-30T08:37:47Z

Have seen your stream, definitely waited to try it out. Great visuals and music, but could not understand how to "buy" stuff. Some minor bugs and feels a little unbalanced, but for LD is great. PS: I played the standalone build.

Dirty Cash by Robber 2019-05-01T09:26:30Z

Very solid for LD. Good music, "banking" atmosphere, elegant mechanics for a currency game.

Bankin' Bacon by arielsan 2019-04-30T18:53:16Z

Very fun game! But it needs at least 2 people, and works with controllers only. The shoot button by default is strange, but bearable. A nice play-on-the-coach game.

THE GAME by Filipe da costa lopes 2019-04-30T08:16:59Z

Nice graphics and interesting mechanics. The boss reminds me of Mannoroth from Warcraft III.

SACRIFIGHTS by Lumpy 2019-04-30T15:47:20Z

Amazing! Kudos for graphics and music! Especially when the monster goes into rage mode, that song brings back some nostalgia atmosphere from a different era of gaming.

At times it feels hard to play and beat the monsters, some are very hard to fight, or if you manage to finish all your sacrifice items. But it feels like an almost complete game with unique atmosphere, so bravo team!

GTApp - Great Tube App by Gaming Night 2019-05-01T09:52:37Z

Very interesting implementation of the theme, somehow original and fun.

The Coin's Unexpected Adventure by CharlieMrl 2019-04-30T13:39:58Z

One of the few games from this LD which really stand out. Very nice implementation, nice graphics and unique mechanics. And achievements! Speaking of which, I still have to get the last one somehow...

The cold by EndSSGamesStudio 2019-05-01T10:31:28Z

Played the v2. Atmospheric game, although very dark, after a while you start understanding the mechanics. But it can get creepy as it goes, and I didn't die of cold ..

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

SUBMERCILESS II by grandtheftmarmot 2021-04-28T12:40:40Z

Some funny interpretation :) Really like the intro. The gameplay is fun, the music adds to this whole fun atmosphere. At times a bit hard to aim when shooting, but maybe that's part of the fun :) Good job!

The Miracle Mineral by benjamin-l 2021-05-02T09:38:25Z

Quite the experience. Even if the slow walk is not my favorite activity, there is some good audio actor play within those cassettes. And the slow walking is mostly combined with the audio, so that you don't rush through the level and skip the audio parts.

There was a long corridor on the right after beginning, only to discover it's a dead end.

At the last tape I circled that area for 3 times (and listened to that tape 3 times :D), until I figured to click on something and a final audio, and the game closed itself.

Overall, an interesting audio experience.

Voyager by Jesús González 2021-05-14T07:44:14Z

Very interesting take on the theme! Felt a bit like KSP :D

I got some speed, distance and improvements overall, until I hit a situation when I could not use the robotics because of not enough power/fuel, and I could not progress: voyager.png

Overall the game is great and unique!

In To The Depths by Pavel Stoimenov 2021-05-01T08:13:24Z

Pleasant graphics, and jumpy mechanics. I have seen that there are audio assets, but I haven't heard any sounds/music, so can't say about that part.

A few times the jumping is hard, when jumping from a big platform to a lower one, you must time it right, so that you jump at the last moment, or else you don't get close enough and you fall. But a good point is that there is some checkpoint system, as in some places you don't start from the beginning, but just a bit before you fell off.

Nice job!

Far Gone by TomBuston 2021-04-29T20:42:06Z

Impressive, like an interactive short movie. This is art.

Mr. & Ms. Deeper: Descent to Inner Depth by SIGILL 2021-04-28T07:46:23Z

I think it has interesting mechanics, combining some "deep" theme and puzzles. The graphics are nice and simple. Had some character movement problems (web), and tried to figure a bit some things. But considering the time constraints of the game jam, it's a good submission, which you can improve after :)

Object LD48 by cpv 2021-04-27T14:06:09Z

Thank you everyone, and sorry for the raw state of the game.

The game is not completed :| Lots of stuff to do, and not so much time.

@madr To restart you need to relaunch the game at the moment. Maybe if I will have some time, I should create an updated post-LD version, at least to a more playable degree, add sounds/music, and a more specific ending. It was planned to have a plot twist at the end.

Object LD48 by cpv 2021-05-04T07:01:56Z

@pat-cleaver , @nosfer Thank you for playing it. And I agree.

Not a real gamedev/jammer, so spent time thinking, figuring, drawing pixels, scrapping, redoing, third day was at day job, etc. The initial idea was a bit different and more complex. I might bring it to a better state, but that will be already for my own experience mostly :)

Object LD48 by cpv 2021-05-14T06:23:41Z

@jesus-gonzalez not a well defined one. One is actually to be overwhelmed and die :)

It was supposed to be a bit different, and have more of a plot twist near the end.

Into The Forest by megalukes 2021-05-07T07:16:44Z

Lovely art, and good sound ambience! The game feels mostly complete. Maybe some tweaks here and there, as mentioned(a bit the controls, monsters).

The character reminded me of another character with a similar stance/coat, something with nightmares :)

Well done!

Lost Contact by DrSkort 2021-04-27T10:51:28Z

Simple and nice executed. I read on the itch page about the additional stuff, like the shop (I kept dying because of lack of O2), and then it became a bit easier. As other said, you could polish it, add some tweaks and make it a final game. The sub takes some time to turn, maybe make turn a bit faster, or lower the decrease speed of O2.

Lone Miner by lazarche 2021-04-27T13:27:09Z

May I say that this game is a Gem? Sometimes I join LudumDare just for this. I liked like everything. Gameplay, the graphics, the ambience. Would be nice to play a final version of this :) If it's possible, please continue working on it.Put on itch, so maybe we can follow the game, progress, etc.

Don't know if it's a bug, or I didn't complete something, but at the end of a stair near the "electricity" section, there is some stuff moving, and I can't jump properly so I die there a lot. Did I miss something? block.png

Dig Dog Dig by Rolodophone 2021-05-08T08:51:11Z

Congrats on a game well done! Really enjoyed the audio part, very good combination of music and sounds, I understand that they are not made for jam, but still very good selection :) The music nails it.

For the game, I find it an interesting combination of digging + memory game, since you have to remember were you got something nasty last time, and where are the apples and bones.

I like the attention to details: barks, sound of scratching, animations of digging + eyes, stuff from sewer..

I think the game is quite well made :) You managed to do a lot for a game jam.

Looked at the source code, it seems you are well with LibGDX/kotlin, good job on that as well! You should have a look at their wiki on how to bundle a standalone game (executable+jre) https://github.com/libgdx/libgdx/wiki/Bundling-a-JRE so you can distribute your games more easily in the future (don't worry, I launched the .jar just fine :) ).

Time Slicer by rockadudle 2021-04-30T14:22:35Z

Awesome puzzle mechanics, the "deeper & deeper" theme involving going deeper in time to fix stuff is very interesting.

Surely there are some bugs related to movement, or cube fit, but that can take some time to polish, which is a luxury for a game jam. And I actually managed to get through all just by placing the cube close enough to be able to walk on it.

The game is quite enjoyable, and with some more work, it can be come an interesting puzzle game. Very good work!

Time Slicer by rockadudle 2021-05-21T08:32:26Z

@rockadudle you shouldn't stress much about the grading. Stuff happens. You did a very nice prototype, and you have skills on doing stuff. Keep on creating.

Silesia Simulator by Kosmik123 2021-05-01T10:21:59Z

Even if you abandoned your original idea, it ended up being enjoyable!

Really like the almost like "Silent Hill"/horror vibe. The music is straight to the point. Of course the game might look easy at first, but it's not fun and games anymore when you get followed by an army of "gopniks" :D

silesia.png

Sometimes it got even funny, when there are some souls lost behind a corner, waiting for you...

If you continue working on it, maybe tweak a bit the camera movement, I had to move the mouse 2-3 times to turn, and maybe add a minimap, some end level goal (find a door, collect x amount of diamonds), maybe add ladders, balconies. For some additional change, you could make the overall lighting weaker, and add some light poles on the streets.

T-Minus by michaelaranda 2021-05-04T06:39:06Z

Very nice game! Really liked the small easter eggs from some movies :) Looks like a game worth working on it and making a full one. Just add some tweaks maybe: a zoom out/a map so you could see where you should go next, some explanation how the thrust works (after a few tries I got the idea), maybe the option to adjust the rotation of the rocket (or not, gives some challenge). Overall, very good audio and visuals.

I got to the end, so I'm waiting for some levels :D

Dig World by kuviman 2021-04-27T11:40:17Z

Don't event know what to say. Congrats! Well done! The only thing would be to have some bottom layer, or some easter eggs. As I type this, I reached the end of the "rock" and I'm falling into infinity. Send help :D

Blue Cheese, Lunar Descent by clemonades 2021-04-27T06:17:13Z

Lovely art! Your astro-driller should team up with my commander :D Had some trouble fighting with that "birdy", but overall nice mechanics and game!

Dead Factory by Mr. Meik 2021-04-27T12:53:29Z

I don't see any download/web links. Can you recheck the submission page?

Deeply Organic by DoctorTM 2021-04-29T08:25:27Z

Well, that is an interesting take on the theme :D

So many levels with different mechanics, and some fun here and there. Great audio as well.

Found a couple of bugs, when at the lungs level I managed to fall below the "ground" and kept falling, and at the liver level, at first I died since the fighting controls seemed a bit hard, but on a second run I managed somehow to skip the level (pressed space too much I guess) and got straight to the stomach :)

Overall, a great submission, very unique I might say.

Update: It seems you used music/sound not made by you during the jam, so probably you should opt-out from the audio category. But I'm not here to judge :)

Deeto is Deep in Debt by Mediocre 2021-04-27T12:34:28Z

Not bad at all! Looks polished on the visual part! There are some mechanics which work, I really liked the animations, especially when that little thing is getting angry! . Definitely better than what I managed to submit :)

Super Digger by Shimonster 2021-04-27T11:05:27Z

Interesting graphics, and liked the background parallax effect. A bit higher speed for the character would be nice.

Katavasi by variable_enigmatic 2021-05-09T08:37:06Z

Fast paced hard space action right here! Or it is just me, but felt awesome and hard :D kept dying here and there.

Interesting combination of wormhole and levels, although the games feel a bit hard, when there are so many enemies and bullets flying around, and the energy kept decreasing. But managed to go around them and open a few wormholes :)

With more attempts it became clear that I should use the gravitational space to my advantage and circle around, just making sure to shoot where needed and go to wormholes. But flying enemies and bullets everywhere, and also from the previous level, make it much harder.

If you continue working on it, as an idea, maybe the bullets from the previous level should not go to the new level. And as mentioned above, add some particles related to the ship's thrust.

Well done overall! Great jam game.

By the way, playing in background with the Interstellar "Docking Scene" soundtrack makes the game go full drama :)

Deep Jam by MadR 2021-04-28T12:53:19Z

You don't see every day hand drawn graphics, looks very nice! But the game is a bit hard, I kept dying like every few seconds :D damned those C#, errors, clock and deadline! Might need some balance tweaks, but for your first game, it's impressive.

Down for the kiwi by AniMagik 2021-04-28T19:23:16Z

Had some fun :) Positive mood, really liked the song. The mechanics might look simple, but they work and have a purpose. The idea is quite funny in some way. Are the stations something like the "metro" stations? (the M letters)

After a fail, I kind off understood some things, and finally got to the other side of the planet! kiwi.png

Submortem by KalAsh 2021-04-28T20:30:17Z

Very good game, full of activities! So many things to do, so little time! Only after a few failed runs you understand what and where, sprinting through corridors and trying to fix everything! Still haven't got to the happy ending, still running!

Sub-servicing by Croteru 2021-04-29T14:22:46Z

Like the idea. The game is a bit hard at times, but it's not critical. After I die one time, as someone else posted, it becomes impossible to pick up stuff or use S to go below the ledge. It was done quite well for a first game on LD :)

Went to the menu to discover that you can configure audio settings, very nice. Nice music and sound effects.

The Final Journey by kernon 2021-04-27T08:37:11Z

Awesome! Dark mood, going deep into the unknown. And the music, sounds, darkness and the lights makes it very special. The ending surely fits the overall atmosphere.

Descending by János Parádi 2021-04-27T12:50:23Z

Simple and good looking. Liked the aesthetics. A minor thing would be the narrow tunnels where you barely fit and the sub takes damage. At some point got lost and stuck in some area :D with almost empty battery

Extreme Pizza Delivery by nicholassoen 2021-04-28T19:11:14Z

Nice game, good submission for a first time LD! I like the idea mentioned above, with the pizza being sliced based on the damage.

Darkness Muse by Evil Villain Games 2021-04-30T06:52:30Z

So much was done in this game, awesome! Nice poly graphics, the music fits a bit the atmosphere underground, and the shooting notes + their bouncing + light mechanics + dungeon crawler kinda of make it unique, although at times a bit hard. The slowdown before the shooting make it a bit hard to face multiple enemies, and as mentioned, you can easily run out of light at some point. But overall it is a great submission!

Finding Rachel by Caolan Maher 2021-04-28T10:07:27Z

After walking into dark for a while I was expecting some things to jump on me :). Got at the moment where a girl cries, but nothing happens. The hardest probably was to go through the moving hammers in the dark. Curios, is the overall "descend into madness" a reference to some Lovecraftian lore? :)

The Circle Of Suffering by Cr1stal 2021-05-17T10:55:22Z

Usually when I get at the start a lamp, in a dark room, I'm preparing for worse.

When I find blood, and all the doors are locked, I want to run, but I can't. Like in a nightmare.

It's a good start. Keep it up :)

The Thoroughly Examined Life of Forest Animals by PostFrog 2021-04-30T14:00:31Z

It was strange at first, but some attempts here and there revealed something. Regarding the Karate chop, it's actually easy to get to him: (spoiler alert) ~~use one of the cardinal points~~ :D or that's at least how I got to him.

While I'm not a fan of texture adventures, overall it's a good attempt at a texture adventure, and they are also not very simple to make :)

Plumbers 2077 by Chunkish Campino 2021-04-28T20:01:44Z

What the actual Jam was this? Must say I was not expecting much of the stuff! :D Fun experience, 5/7.

Some improvements would be a stronger drone, and finer controls.

From DeepSpace by DoomsGuardians 2021-05-01T08:46:40Z

Would be nice to have a description, controls. Didn't get the point with the probes, somehow on the sides they were passing me, and on the center they were moving towards me. And it seems the gun can shoot, but the bullets go from bottom upwards if you click and move the mouse, and at some point the bullets disappear. The flying probes seem to be much affected. The graphics look kind of cool, really liked how the gunner looks and moves :)
