For your first game, you killed it! Great use of the theme and the graphics are dope!

For your first game, you killed it! Great use of the theme and the graphics are dope!
I was not able to get the html5 version to load in Firefox or Chrome on macos :(
Game has a good upbeat energy to it, graphics have a nice charm to them, especially the trees in the background, Great job on your first Jam! If only we could push deadlines back as easily in real life. All round good job!
Cool idea, nice graphics, but this game is way too difficult!
Spamming the left and right clicks and memorizing the levels is pretty much the only way to win.
I think the enemies have too many HP and the right click power could be removed, since its only purpose is to be activated whenever it's available.
Loads for me Just fine - not sure. Maybe servers are strugling. I can't really load itch.io submissions constantly. Thats one of the reasons I chose Game Jolt.
@shieldssounds Thanks!
@paul-maxime might be too hard, sometiles I strugled myselft. I got 1 friend to playtest he cleard it pretty fast :)
@inappropriatename thanks :)!
Only played to the first checkpoint and didn't get much further after that.
I agree with paul, its a neat idea and aesthetic, but the game is prohibitively difficult in its current presentation. I don't think enemy HP is an issue, i just feel like there's not really enough to get around. possibly even a small double jump or something would go a long way... a lot of the time you just have to take a leap of faith and start over if you're wrong.
@skoobydoo I actually dissabled a double jump :) Thanks for the feedback, will note it for my next jams.
Also I think aspect ratio of 4:3 would change a lot concerning the difficulty. But my friends ware able to clear it no problem, They might be ninjas!
I really felt stressed playing this, as if it was a very important deadline xD The level before fighting your big character was hard, the boss battle impossible for me, this is more difficult than dark souls xD Still, a very unique entry. ^^
Nice game, I didn't finished level 2, but it's too hard for me.
The game is a little too hard, the thing you can do I think is expand the camera vision.
The graphics are really fun. Are they scans of pen drawings? Or did you create them digitally?
The level design is the weakest part I think. I died probably 20 times before I could even make it past the first clock enemy. The amount of stuff presented to the player with the controls and small platform size just made it very punishing. Thankfully the reset was quick. I eventually got down past the first layer then met my demise to a bird. Good news is that your jam went better than I did as you in the game XD
Thanks for making this! I enjoyed it!
Thanks for Your feedback! I did it with a pen and took a photo with a phone. Thats the reason some sprites have different shades. Scaner would be better.
Technically impressive and a uniques style that's well implemented. I found the gameplay quite unforgiving though. I would have preferred to to start out a little easier. But overall, very nice.
really hard game but cool to play and to look at !!
Goddamn deadline. Always killin me. Cool game, well executed idea, very hard to finish.
This was really hard but I enjoyed it a lot! I love the hand drawn pen style and you did a great job keeping to the theme! I also really like how it's based around developing a game in c#, it worked really well! Nice game and a fun entry, well done!
Congratulations on finishing your first game!
The game has interesting idea and graphics style and feels smooth, but hard to play. I would suggest slower start maybe. For example, when you start and try the controls for the first time, you immediately die when you jump. Also, why not using W for jump instead of space? It was kinda hard for me to get used to these controls and couldn't get far in the game.
Supercool concept, love the esthetics, love the idea, love the setting. But the game is waz too hard :D (maybe accurately given what it depicts?)
Very interested by promo and I can say, that I am not disappointed!) Gameplay is understandable, graphics very cool, stan this :D Audio also is cool. It's great game for the first time)
@petrroll @js @zeilanda @tom-stephenson @jlmast Thank You very much for Your feedback!
Nice art, the game is very hardcore, especially the last boss :smile: My main pain point was the first jump on the first level, more than half of the time I've touched that red things (error icons?).
Yeah errors! @gameraccoon so u managed to beat it :)?
Hugely impressed that this is your first game! I love the use of hand-drawn and scanned art assets. The gameplay is simply yet satisfying platforming. I would definitely say that the game is a bit too difficult at the start, and some of the hitboxes for things which kill you seem a bit overzealous. But all in all a fantastic first game jam! Hope you stay for many more.
@tomlbarden Thanks for the encouraging words!
I really like the graphics, good job!
The game is pretty hard, I keep diyng at the begining, it's a little frustrating because I wanted to see more ^^
Cool idea, and graphics. The pace is too fast for me to survive this deadline :D
Nice concept!! but way too hard HAHA . but I get the message, the deadlines always get you no matter what. For your first game, you killed it!! nicely done!
Just an observation: When you die, it could be a good idea that the music should continue and not start again
@pixelipy Thanks for Your feedback! Agree about the music, just didn't have time for polish :(
Excellent job integrating the hand drawn art, it looks really good. Main feedback would be making hazards more lenient, and balance the difficulty in the players favor. A lot of common platformer design tips involve making good things (pickups) easier than it looks, and bad things (spikes or enemies) harder than it looks i.e. hitbox smaller than the visuals indicate. I think that could go a long way here. Well done.
Really cool idea !
The controlls are really smooth.
You don't see every day hand drawn graphics, looks very nice! But the game is a bit hard, I kept dying like every few seconds :D damned those C#, errors, clock and deadline! Might need some balance tweaks, but for your first game, it's impressive.
0/10 for innovation, 10/10 for hard level design.
I tried so hard, and died so many time to Unity.
Great first jam !
Art is great, really smooth, nice pressing music and the deadline gives pressure.
I don't mind the speed but the hitbox for the errors is brutal, insta death even if I do land on a box! my best after 60 attempts must have been 10 seconds and the only time I made it to the second bit with the slidy boxes, where I lived for so short a time I didn't even know what killed me there
@darkshadow Hard core :D
@zwodahs 0 for innovation is a bit harsh isn't it? Maybe 0.01/10?
Damn, this game is hard. First congratulations on finishing your first game jam game. I like your decision to simply draw the assets on paper, something I tried for one Godot Wild jam previously as well... sadly didn't get to finish that one. I find this one too hard for me though, it really starts with crazy tempo and despite trying many times I couldn't get very far down... damn that C# there :sweat_smile: Keep jaming!
Haha:) Those deadlines are deadly! Nice idea for the game. I like those hand drawn characters. It would be nice maybe to have the checkpoints more often:) Other than that, nice entry! Great job!
Nice game <3
Congratulations on finishing your first project! Cool idea / use of the theme.
Couple of suggestions for improvement: - The best strategy seems to be to just smash both mouse buttons constantly: It resets the deadline as soon as possible. Maybe a solution could be to put both abilities (shooting and resetting) on a shared 'energy' resource? This way the player would have to make decisions. Do I engage in this fight with that enemy ahead first or should I push the deadline back first? - The final boss seemed a bit unfair to me. A visual or auditory indicator just before he's about to attack would have greatly helped imo.
Looking forward to your next entry! :)
you kill it! super game!!!
There is a problem with the HTML5 version i just see half on the screen, i downloaded the windows version and i played properly, that's fun and really hard ! Nice game !
@robowarrior1982 might be a low res display. Thanks for the feedback!
I really enjoyed this! Loved the lo-fi graphics and the punishing difficulty. Apprecaited the very quick restart, I found myself clicking furiously!
Congratulations I play is very cool, it has a very beautiful art, I like it a lot and I would like to make a suggestion, what differentiates a manual art from what is made on paper is the imperfection and the noise in the scene, and your game is the background it is very clean once i made a paper themed game i will leave it for you to see https://etrealjunior.itch.io/morph, a big hug my friend, and i await your feedback on my game.
@etrealjunior tried morph - cool mechanics and the music was just a great to lighten up the mood. I'll check Your LD game. U can check out my devlog for this game if You are interested - you can find it on my games description.
@madr I will see yes, I really enjoyed getting to know your work.
Nice hand drawn graphics. A bit too punishing for my taste.
Great game, thanks for sharing it with me! So hectic, it really got my blood pumping. Addictive quick game loop and plenty of charm in the graphics. Congrats on a good one.
@johnryanaudio Thanks!!!
Nice game! I really like the graphics :)
I think, sometimes it would be great to see more on the left and right. Had realy problems to even get through the second level. :D
Oh my that was good, really good!
Graphics and audio were both great, good job with that
Gameplay was really knives edge, and hard af, but not annoying. Reminded me of old shotgun ninja by cactussquid :)
