LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Florida Simulator by Grogian 2021-04-29T05:49:27Z

This was a nice mini game that I enjoyed playing.

I sort of wish there was an additional way to interact with the alligators. Also maybe more incentive to actually plant, I feel like just managing aggro and gathering is actually a more reliable way to win than planting, since you need to get 2 complete harvests together for planting to even net profit.

GRAPPLE the Abyss! by lectvs 2021-04-28T01:13:54Z

Got some errors trying to review that I was unable to resolve. https://imgur.com/KbFAJ7V

Happy to come back if there's something obvious I missed!

To the Core by Eric Smith 2021-04-27T01:28:01Z

Scene is a bit dark and the light lags behind the drill when moving full speed. That combined with the fact that the "danger" blocks use the same texture as dirt but shifted ~5% means it feels sort of arbitrary when you get punished for drilling into one of the danger blocks.

Great experience, I really liked the idea/execution of using sonar to navigate a level. I'd really like to see it expanded upon with some more interactive elements other than just navigation.

Bumpy Drilly by Paul-Maxime 2021-04-27T00:35:44Z

I don't even know if anything was chasing me but it makes me very happy that you included an ending with a dramatic sequence.

Artifact Rescue by Tiranice 2021-04-27T01:48:33Z

My archaeologist got stuck after about 5 items and I couldn't get him unstuck. WASD controls being at an angle is sort of jarring and probably shouldn't work like that.

Neat idea though

Treasure by popoAwA 2021-04-27T01:37:20Z

I seem to have committed the heinous crime of not buying the suit first....there doesn't seem to be enough gold left in the shallower portion of the level to buy the suit..other than that it seems like a neat swimming exploration game.

The Dwarven Brigade by Wolfier 2021-04-29T05:32:47Z

I liked this game and I think it represents some good work considering the constraints!

I would like to have seen a way to address pathing issues (like if I could slap stuck dwarves to reset them if I noticed them). Additionally, it would be nice to have some sort of end goal after unlocking mithril.

Dungeon Divers by Koolruz 2021-04-29T22:27:40Z

Audio is nothing special, and I would love hotkeys to help quick tense moments, but overall this is a great prototype and I'd be happy to play more!

Pale Dwarf Adventures by SinusQuell 2021-05-02T06:35:28Z

I was sort of hoping there would be something to get to at the end...I stomached about 100 past the point where you cant bear the heat at max upgrades. At that point, when falling down I would sometimes glitch down an extra ~50 tiles into these weird horizontal hallways that might be some sort of terrain gen glitch...

Not an amazing game by any means, but a relatively complete submission (except for the aforementioned lack of an ending!). I think I'd have enjoyed it more with the numbers tweaked a bit to be a bit less grindy...I'm not sure the game as-is really needed to cap out at a depth of 1000, so shooting for a round number probably hurt you a bit there.

A few additions, particularly to make movement a little bit more interesting and either number tweaks or other tricks to make it feel like less of a grind would make this pretty solid.

The Dungeon Of Depth by HyperCubeGames 2021-04-27T00:45:57Z

something about the framerate or background texture when moving is messing with my eyes.

Other than that this seems like a nice simple platformer. I'd probably do something about the inclusion of the soft lock pits where you get stuck and just have to restart.

MagiCave by SrRinio 2021-05-01T17:12:13Z

I feel like the movement (especially the acceleration) is like 5-10x too fast for good feeling controls. Additionally, trying to pick up the gems (or even notice they were there--on my first attempt I didn't even realize they were the pickups) was a bit too difficult.

Asterisk by Crychair 2021-04-27T00:58:19Z

I had some issues with the sound getting laggy and clipping, not sure if it was the game overall running poorly or just sound. otherwise its a pretty neat implementation

Deep Jam by MadR 2021-04-27T00:42:09Z

Only played to the first checkpoint and didn't get much further after that.

I agree with paul, its a neat idea and aesthetic, but the game is prohibitively difficult in its current presentation. I don't think enemy HP is an issue, i just feel like there's not really enough to get around. possibly even a small double jump or something would go a long way... a lot of the time you just have to take a leap of faith and start over if you're wrong.

Dwarven Depths by steelax 2021-04-27T20:49:03Z

I quite like the level design that went into this given the time. Even with brought in assets, to collect and arrange them takes time... Overall for a weekend's work it looks interesting!

I had a few small issues that could individually be addressed pretty quickly im sure: - during intro dialogue, i fell off the platform by peeking down the ladder, it turns out the outer section doesnt have a collider, and was treated with a repeat of the speech (oof)

- mouse sensitivity is quite low

- I had a hard time noticing the key, and an even harder time figuring out how to get the box open with it. I'm still not quite sure what I did differently but that should be looked at for sure. if its a key touches box thing, then maybe a small table for the box would be a simple fix.

- on getting in the main chamber, after being told I wouldnt be able to jump up, I was mysteriously able to just jump straight up (more swim really) the area where the stairs were meant to have been, not sure how I was meant to get up there but I feel that wasn't it.

DeepScape by koalabear 2021-04-26T23:28:11Z

after pressing new game i just get laggy music over a purple spotlight.

Journey to the Core by Adrenalion 2021-04-27T02:18:38Z

After figuring things out, this was a neat little game. I think some additional hand holding to understand what you're meant to be losing, or, more importantly, exactly why you died would be helpful in capturing a wider audience. That said, I made it to the core on my second run.

PROTIP: alternate science and shield upgrades, starting with science. science always powered, drill always powered, shield when temp is too high (means you should upgrade shield soon), otherwise be ready with the laser. If you feel like you don't need shield upgrades for a bit, I was doing resource to get some heals because lasering the targets was really hard.

Beepo's Shop by itsBoats 2021-05-02T06:50:50Z

I really like the aesthetics and implementation of this version of the "dig a bunch" formula that is really common for this theme.

I lost a few very deep runs to what I *think* was some sort of bug that makes you consume extra fuel (no recording cant confirm for sure, but it happened multiple times to me where I had significantly more fuel than I was deep, and ran out of fuel partway to the surface going up one of my ladders (up, left, up, right, up, left, etc) I sort of suspect that quick inputs might somehow lead to erroneous fuel consumption. That or I'm somehow really bad at comparing which number is bigger than the other number.
