Loved the format of this game and the beigepunk! The spam was spot on for the 90's. My main suggestion would be increasing the font size and contrast of the emails to make them easier to read. Overall, hope you go further with a post-comp version of this. --Anna
This game is so pure, and for the pure-hearted. Putting positive intentions out there in the world, and sharing it with others wishing upon a star. The visuals remind me of my favorite Anime film, Your Name 君の名は。which centers around the arrival of a comet. The music is delightful and relaxing, and the slow pace gives plenty of time for wishes to come in so the star can make its journey across the sky. I do like seeing everyone’s wishes at the end of the 10 minutes, though the list scrolls very slow. But that is what this is, a gentle slow game full of good wishes. – Zen
Enjoyed the graphics, music, and the variety of levels. --Anna
Really well done. Fun and engaging with a unique game mechanic. The sound is delightful and comical. Poor Ragnar he really does seem to have a difficult time of things. Great level design - looking forward to playing this game further, and would love to see what comes out of this post-comp. -- Zen
I found this game from your comment on @wrsh07 's Life Based game, and I am so glad I did. I absolutely love Conway's Game of Life and I am thrilled to find a puzzle variation of the rules! Really outstanding work, and so in line with the theme, and I must say a moving and appropriate tribute to John Horton Conway. -- Zen
This game felt fresh and I had fun playing it. The music was catchy too. Would love to see a post-comp version of this! --Anna
I really enjoyed this. It reminded me of the quality shareware games I would trade on floppy disks or download from a BBS in the 80s. It really had that retro feel and made me nostalgic for my youth when I would spend hours playing simple engaging games like this. Even though I actually am ambidextrous, the increasing speed really made it a challenge as well as controlling two different spheres. The animation of the beam-projector did a lot with a simple animation. Absolutely delightful, I could see me coming back to this time and time again for some casual relaxing gaming. -- Zen
I clicked forth, excited to see a text adventure game, but knowing that the competition was short and my review time limited. The experience was captured. It did not disappoint. 5/5
--Anna
ps. I hope this wins or ranks highly in at least one of the categories.
My teammate, Anna called dibs for rating this game, but I wanted to send a little note, about how delightful this game is. It really is amazingly relaxing and I love the music, in fact I am just gonna let the game run in the background so I have chill Star Wars music coming in my headphones for a while. Maybe an hour, or three. Both of us are huge Star Wars fans and I am sure she will rate very high indeed. I know I would -- but like I said she called dibs. -- Zen
This game is fantastic. There are so many things I love about this game.
I'm a huge fan of 80's retro games and I love that the graphics resemble Atari 2600 craftsmanship with a bit of Lemmings thrown in. The particle standstorm works well too.
Tossing the Jawa's in is fun, but I also like that I can rescue them by tossing them to the right. It's good to have pacifist options.
The music makes the game. It's actually relaxing.
5/5 on everything - I hope this wins!

Gosh who would have thought revolutions were expensive? Managing the different resources is pretty challenging, it is pretty hard, but with more time I think I might maange not to get shut down by The GVRNMNT! I just wish there were more(?) cards that could replenish funds, like have a bake sale or something... There may be plenty that can do so, but the randomizer was not kind to me.
I absolutely loved the premise and theme of this game, I hope you continue this project and I can play it whenever I want my poor rebel heart to have some recreation.
-- Zen
I really liked the theme of the game and your interpretation of "Keep It Alive" was spot-on. The maze is too big for the usual "follow one wall" trick to navigate safely so this encourages more random exploration of the map. The dwindling air and food supplies really add some tension into what would otherwise just be an exploration game, and I really felt huge relief for my poor astronauts when I would find air or food. I will definitely be revisiting this game to see more of the story which I just got mysterious hints at and maybe even make it out alive! -- Zen
A very timely game for these times. I absolutely loved the educational aspect of this game, while being presented as a challenging puzzle to figure out. I did not do so well my first attempt, but I greatly enjoyed the game. I really liked that I got to play as a plaque doctor in a modern setting. It would have been nice to have a score about that told me what I got right and what I got wrong so my skill at the game would increase faster, but perhaps being a rookie plague doctor I just have to learn by shooting in the dark a few times -- but the poor residents of the apartment to have such an inexperienced doctor treating them!
I had fun playing this, and having a notebook to keep notes was innovative though my next playthrough I think I need to make a chart or something to keep track of everything. Overall a nice diversion while living in quarantine. -- Zen
Well, I got eaten by a grue! But it was a fun experience. :) It took me a few tries to work out the AI, but I liked that it felt a little random and ferocious, basically very grue-like. I thought the fire mechanic worked well too, it added to an already tense mood. Great job overall, looking forward to seeing more games from you in future Ludum Dares! --Anna
My teammate Anna rated this game, but I wanted to come by and thank you for the nice comment on our Game! Your game is absolutely delightful, and I really enjoyed the unique game mechanic with the fire! Oh I really enjoyed this one it made me laugh happily as I sat at my desk and played it! -- Zen
The pixel graphics and sound make the game. While I wasn't entirely sure what to do at first, I enjoyed the experience of playing it. The mood is awesome! --Anna
I played this with LibreOffice Calc. It was fun and though I played solo I think it's a great party game.
Here were my items and how I used them:
paper plate
water bottle (with water!)
headphones
pillow - Used the pillow to stop up the water, lost the pillow.
metal fork - Used the metal fork to short the security camera
pencil - Throw the pencil at the orb, knocking it off the tree in one shot. Lost the pencil.
sunglasses - Take apart sunglasses, use the plastic to pick the lock. Lost sunglasses.
scissors - Used scissors to cut the bomb wires.
tape measure - Used the tape measure as a makeshift rope, lost it because I couldn’t untie it from the top.
hair dryer - Heaviest item is lost forever in round 1
--Anna
I love the premise of this game with its absurdist humor, though the actual gameplay is challenging. I would love to see a post-jam version where the antvile will make their planned appearance and give it a little more polish. Overall well done. – Zen
I'm so much better at flying drones in this game than I am in real life. Appreciate the instakill reset/recall option. I wish real-life drones had that.
Anyway, I loved the challenge of this game. It's hard! I made it to level 2 and got hit by an airplane. I liked the asthetics too with the graph paper background.
I also found a pileup bug with the birds, the screenshot is attached. Looking forward to seeing more from this game if there is a post-comp version.package_protector_birds.png
-- Anna
@AeroSoap After I got to the second level I died once. Then, I let the game run with my player at the second level starting point. The birds piled up after a few minutes. --Anna
So I absolutely love Conway's Game of Life. This take on it I think is pretty fun and innovative. A lot of people don't get the fun of setting up a simulation and letting it run, but this game adds some arcade-style interaction to it with keeping with the original mechanics of life.
Maybe I did not play far along with but I think it would be interesting if the playing fields had some known shapes like gliders or even a glider gun adding some difficulty to it. -- Zen
This game is very cute! I love the audio and the graphics work well with the concept. It's fun to play and feels complete. Thank you for making it! --Anna
@aerosoap Thank you for the kind comment! That you ended up caring about the crew and acted heroically, compassionately, and wisely to get the winning ending means a lot to us, and that it comes across in such a brief little game is really validating towards our storytelling ability. Again, Thank you. -- Zen
@crispybacon thank you. Those options were part of the engine we used called ChoiceScript which allowed us to concentrate on writing scenes and handling the game logic while the interface was largely handled for us by ChoiceScript. -- Zen
@cataclysmicknight Thank you for taking the time to play through several endings. I know we had 72 hours to make this but due to some poor health on my part, we really did not get started until Sunday night, and I woke up early Monday morning and wrote a lot of the scenes and added in some game logic (our engine ChoiceScript did all the heavy lifting for the interface) Anna and I plan to make another game in October not sure if it will be another text adventure, but it is likely, really that is Anna's bailiwick as she is more experienced in this than I, just add some creativity and little bit of coding.
But I wanted to motivate you that there is a way to save all 300 crewmembers if it is not too frustrating to play to find it! This games rewards heroism, compassion, and wisdom. A decision made on one scene may affect outcomes a few scenes later, so keep that in mind. -- Zen
