This is a very funny game, but it is also very difficult. I was only able to make it to the third area a handful of times. It is great that so many of the screens are set up like puzzles, and it was fun learning how to get through them without taking damage. There are a few that are a bit mean though (I'm thinking of that screen in the second area with the tiny spikes especially)
I had a lot of fun playing this, although since the later stages are so difficult, it would have been nice if there was more variety in the early dialogue. I feel like I will be hearing some of those jokes in my dreams tonight due to how many times I heard them.
The horse sprite looks great.
This gave me and my friend a good laugh, it's goofy and the "Travel deeper and deeper into your own subconscious until you reach the prized toaster" line kills me. The gameplay is fun and the whole game feels like a fever dream sometimes, which isn't a bad thing :)

TL;DR
This game is the Super Mario 64 of 2D Platformers. Comatoast is SO, so much more than the sum of its parts.
Where do I begin? This is the best game I have ever played. Please play before reading further.
The one-liners that play throughout are just as densely packed and enjoyable as Gex, but they are self-contained, and therefore require no pop-culture knowledge and they will not age as poorly. The platforming in this game is absolutely stellar. If you watch videos or see screenshots, you might say "This is a BABY game" but it is NOT. Right from the get-go, the levels are out to get you. But where some games are "cheaply" difficult, relying on invisible blocks and abruptly jerking spikes, *Comatoast* lays it all out in front of you. The obstacles are right there, you have plenty of time to plan out your movements and your path, but executing is another beast entirely.
The way you approach enemies is seamlessly sewn into this landscape. The rooms don't feel like bare platforms with enemy stickers randomly scattered about. Each enemy is painstakingly drawn, attacking in patterns that you must learn and integrate to inform your movement. The soundtrack absolutely nailed it, there is a palpable difference between the dreamy earlier stages and the nightmarish later stages where platforms pixelate and disappear, subverting the expectations of level design and mechanics that the player builds over the first two levels. This is remarkable, in a game that lasts only 5 minutes, there are two strikingly different aesthetics but both are a joy to play.
I only have one complaint: Why are there not 10 of these?
i can definitely see how this would hit a spot for some people's sense of humors, but unfortunately the humor wasn't for me. i did find the platforming somewhat interesting and pretty enjoyable, even if it felt quite difficult at times!
This game cured my fear of horses and stopped me from balding.

The game looks super fun, but unfortunately I can't pass the first area, the toast fall down and the "Game Over screen" appears. I tried a little but can't understand how don't die there :(
@pedrohph Sorry to hear that! Was the game lagging by any chance? Do you know what the level looked like when you kept falling to your death? Trying to fix this problem ASAP.

I really like the looks and feels of the game, but the voiceover got a bit annoying for my taste 😅
Horse was well worth the money
I like that you embraced the "drawn in microsoft paint" style hahah. Definitely a difficult game, but of course there's a market for infuriating funny games :)

@jk5000 Can I get some info on what platform your running the game on? Trying to fix this bug but I can’t seem to replicate it.

The game work in the browser version. The game was funny, but also really difficult.
@jk5000 @pedrohph I think I figured the bug out! Do your computers happen to be running in a language other than English? I had accidentally encoded the file that stores all the room information in English instead of the universal encoding. Should be fixed in the next version! Let me know if this isn’t the case.

Cool cool cool. STROKE OF LUCK i will never get this joke out of my head. Good game, too bad I couldn't leave the horse room every time I got into it, because... where do I begin.. the sprite was just mesmerizing, you know. I was really impressed by how many rooms there were, it made it fun to retry and see what would happen. Might come back to it, and try to finally beat those damned to-do lists.
Fun game, I love the jumping and landing animation! The enemies further down have really cool designs as well.
Nice concept and art! The voice acting was very funny :smiley:

I absolutely loved the voice acting and the writing. Great job with the room design, and the extremely distinctive aesthetic, this game oozes personality!
The horse was, of course, wonderful.
I'll never get out of my head the "maybe I should stop complaining about my stroke, there are starving children in the world", and the "stroke of luck". This is both a blessing and a curse.
Thank you for this scintillating, slightly burnt gift you bestowed unto this sinful world.

That was a GOLDEN experience. Thank you for making this game xD. Loved the humor and the absurdity of it.. that horse.. Big round of applause for you, I'm going to remember this one for sure!!!!

Oh my god that was actually amazing! It was difficult, but in a good way, I just had to keep on trying until I beat the game! All the animations are great, the music was nice, the voice over was amazing and really fun, it's all gravy! The combat using was pretty cool too, a lot of distinct enemies with different attack patterns. In the end I ran away from all the enemies to make things easier, but that still required knowing what the enemies do to succeed - the eye thingys at the end especially gave me a lot of trouble before I figured them out. The horse was of course the best and well worth the budget :). Amazing job - I'd play more of this if it was made into a full post-jam game. I can see this game placing very well~ :)!
The great LD48 diamond! Deeply fun. The voices are the great ludo moto here. I was so challenged by the exam (F). The game designer is a genius.
this game is far harder than a game about toast has any right to be. it's fun, but becomes more tedious each time i die. not terrible.

My god this was incredible. I gave you 5s across the board, you deserve it. This is seriously brilliant. I love the non-stop VO, I love the graphical style, I loved the game. More more more from this dev please.
Interesting game! A little crazy, but it has its charm. The random screens give a greater challenge to the player and the art, almost childlike, gives a special touch to the whole. Some colliders need to be checked. The best, for me, in the whole game is the bread with bone. It never crossed my mind that loaf of bread had bone.

This game is awesome! I found it really funny and enjoyable, it's really well made. However, I also found difficult fighting the enemies and sometimes idk why the player went automatically to the right. Overrall is really good.

@juanv when you go automatically right, is this after you attack Chester? If so, jumping automatically fixes it.
