Nice Game! I Love The UI Design!
powerPlant takes 1000 ore even though it asks for 899
Really nice game! Love the graphics and the voice acting. Maybe some sort of indication that the drill was being upgraded would be helpful, cause I never knew if I had actually upgraded it or not haha. Great job! :)
What a neat little experience, it at times felt more like a puzzle game than a management game, but that's a plus for me, it's got a lot going for it despite how simple it is, i had a lot of fun trying to make the best use of my space to get a material return, it felt like a very calm and fun take on what games like Banished provide the player, the voxel art style and the easygoing soundtrack + the voice clips and little jokes all fit like a glove, amazing job everyone involved!
The voice lines were obviously great and the variety was amazing. Totally worth the time investment! "No whoosh for you", lol. Some of my mines and farms stopped producing resources after a while and I had to demolish and rebuild them; unclear if that was intended.
I'm actually didn't understand whole game But it's fun to listen when you put smth or trying to destroy the main thing haha UI is a bit weird, I can't place stuff in bottom right corners And you can improve lightning to be more exciting Btw, great job!
@maybeagoose thats just a misunderstanding from the ui part, it says 999 uran
It was really fun but there is a bug that basically killed my game. I tried to upgrade the drill for the second time but didn't have enough energy (even though the upgrade button didn't show any requirement in it) and the game didn't upgrade it... but still consummed my resources. When i wanted to refund some houses to build another power plant to resolve the power issue, I noticed i couldn't destroy any of them because i couldn't get refunded the consummed population. So yeah, i got softlock by this.
Otherwise the game was really fun before that. The voice is pretty fun, except for the Destroy button. The voiceline is definitely funny once, but after the 100th i couldn't hear it anymore hahahaha
Congrats on the graphics too, the game looks nice !
@theapplecake Thx for the bug, itch now contains a new build with this issue fixed
I love the voice acting!!! XD Great jam! The visuals are very nice!
(I couldn't place a wind turbine in the closest right corners =/ )
great game!
Solid entry. I felt like I was playing Starcraft or Command and Conquest with less fighting. It was also kinda like that farmville game on facebook. check my vod if you like: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1004193959?t=01h13m49s
nuclear power plant simulator 21 On a serious note, I think it's overkill to install 4-5 power plants to win, and that the 999 uran is a little too much. The graphics were great, 3D pixel art is my kryptonite, but the shadows were weird. Voice acting was hilarious. Great entry!
Wind turbines everywhere! I had fun. Though most of the time I was waiting for uranium to go up
изображение_2021-04-29_162523.png О да, сначала мы строим ветряные генераторы, типа у нас "зеленая экология", зато потом - ядерные реакторы. Вот это правильно! Игра понравилась! Короткая, но интересная. Спасибо! ^_^
I must destroy!
Really cool game. I didn't quite get the idea behind building houses to obtain wood, and what exactly we are digging for here, but the gameplay was very relaxing! Also I loved the voicelines and the audio in general. Good job guys!
@devemil ..... those were people.....
oh my god I am so dumb.... All the time I thought that these were logs and therefore didn't make any sense to me hahahaha
Really relaxed grindy game! The voice over was done really well, the art was nice and calming to look at and the overal feel of the game was pretty relaxed
This has crazy depth for a LD game. I agree with the person that said it was more like a puzzle game than a builder one. I love the voxel art and the music. The voice lines were funny as well. You did a great job!
Took me too long to work out the power requirement for the drill upgrades as it was not on the icons. Loved how the puzzle aspect kicks in as you start to run out of space. Nice set of mechanics to put together for a LD game.
Feedback - The audio was really annoying at times - I kept on using up seeds when I place down wind turbine - Too much energy is needed to finish each level and I ended up with no room - The theme I didn't really see it - Make the wind turbines charge up again because that was a big downfall to me not beating it
@meritcoding
Which part of the audio was annyoing?
I dont undesrtand the second point? Could you elaborate?
That's the catch
Well you are digging down, kinda bending it, but still.
Well, the thing with turbines and powerplant was, that you place it down and it gives you the energy and occupies space. Ye the balance could have been better like cheaper power plant sure
Thx and please fill me in on the second point.
The voice acting was funny, the graphics were great, so was the music and the gameplay was fun. I enjoyed the game.
The drill upgrade was a bit confusing at first because I couldn't see how much energy I need. I suggest adding a 100 energy icon next to the other materials.
Overall great game, good job.
Fun!
Wow this is really deep (haha, get it ;)) for being made in such a short time! also stands out from the many other drill games in this LD by adding a puzzle/city builder aspect to it!
it shows me error and doesnt launch
Damn this is game is so good. The voxel art is great and fits the game perfectly, a simple management game that has a very good replayability. The sound track is great and the voice acting is superb! A terrific jam game, I'm impressed! Overall: Excelent game. Good luck everyone!
I really liked the ambiance you gave to the game, I found it very relaxing and just like another comment, felt more like a cozy puzzle game than a management game. The voxel art is very fresh and works great in this kind of games. The voice acting was a good touch as well. Was it me or did the first power plant game me a lot more energy than the next two ones ? (might just be me :))
I loved the voice acting! The game was cool too.
The camera angle made it a bit hard to see the back of the grid once lots of things are placed. Was there a way to rotate the camera that I missed?
I could not place a block in the front right cell for some reason.
@theernis Hmm weird Could you send me your log at %localappdata%\Nejcraft\DrillCity\Logs ? honzapat#3001 on discord
Nice game! It looked great, and felt pretty decent to play. It took me a bit to figure out what the buildings actually did once you got them, since it only showed the cost, and not the gain of the building. But overall it was pretty discoverable, so I managed to win! I did find myself waiting a lot for resources to build up when there was nothing more for me to do, so the pacing could have been improved a bit, but jams are tight so I get it! The voice acting was fun, "not enough resources" brought me right back to playing starcraft :P.
Honestly I expected a totally different Game in the beginning. I would call this game more a puzzle game instead of a ressource manager. I loved the Graphics and the Sounds are very nice. The general idea of the game is OK but could need some more thoughts and maybe a slightly better game mechanic / features in genereal.
Overall, well doen great job
I enjoyed playing through this game, but there are a couple things I couldn't figure out.
I never managed to understand exactly what the requirements were for upgrading the drill. I think I had to have a full power bar but I'm not precisely sure. I find that the game ended up being mostly stockpiling uranium for several minutes and then buying more power plants. I think that, generally in this kind of game, I would expect to be able to significantly ramp up my uranium output at some point, at least if things are going to cost 999 uranium. I ended up covering most empty squares with mines but it still took a long time for uranium to build up enough. Especially when I need even more to actually upgrade the drill...
I couldn't quite figure out what the bar on the right is supposed to mean. I think the first upgrade for the drill changed it a bit, but I wasn't sure what most of the information on the bar meant.
The game was a bit laggy and ultimately crashed before I could win. If it helps: I was playing the 1.2 version.
One aspect of the game I found rather enjoyable was juggling between the different building types. I would often destroy all my mines so that my energy budget was large enough so that I could tear down my wind turbines and build a power plant in their place.
I did ultimately decide to do a second playthrough, which I managed to complete a bit faster than the one that crashed. It does help to build a bunch of wind turbines instead of trying to get a lot of power plants, but ultimately I think the cost for power plants is still probably a bit too high.
Either way, it is still fun to build all the buildings and try to figure out a plan for getting the drill upgraded. I also found the audio clips that play to be quite fun. The game overall has a really nice lighthearted vibe that I found quite enjoyable.
One really tiny change that I think would accentuate that is unlocking the camera. I really like the title screen which shows a different environment from the city itself, and I think having the camera unlocked so that I could rotate it around and see the surroundings of the city would really make it feel like I was building this city, and help me appreciate it as a whole 3D place rather than a single view.
So overall, this is a nice little game. I enjoyed it enough to play through it again after it crashed, and I found the art and sounds charming.
@honey-pony This is 2nd time someone mentioned a crash, could you send me your log at %appdata%\Local\Nejcraft\DrillCity\Logs ?
The log is pretty long--Ludum Dare comments only fit 4096 characters. I may be able to email it to you? (you can try contacting me if you don't want to post your email publicly: honeyponygames@gmail.com )
The very end of the log is like: ``` [ 00:14:14.625 ]: [Info] House (EmptyActor) [ 00:14:16.706 ]: [Info] Spawn [ 00:14:16.710 ]: [Info] spawning ui [ 00:14:16.711 ]: [Info] X:64.00 Y:48.00 Z:16.00 [ 00:14:16.717 ]: [Info] X:1423.505 Y:1718.316 [ 00:14:16.718 ]: [Info] X:1423 Y:1718 [ 00:14:16.719 ]: [Info] X:711.5 Y:859 [ 00:14:16.720 ]: [Info] at X:681.5 Y:779 [ 00:14:21.183 ]: [Info] House (EmptyActor) [ 00:14:22.409 ]: [Info] Mine (EmptyActor) [ 00:14:24.831 ]: [Info] Spawn [ 00:14:25.795 ]: [Info] Spawn ```
One part that stands out near the end is like: ``` [ 00:11:04.774 ]: [Warning] Exception has been thrown during . Collection was modified; enumeration operation may not execute. Stack strace: at System.Collections.Generic.List`1+Enumerator[T].MoveNextRare () [0x00013] in
@honey-pony Well XD, I forgot to put my discord honzapat#3001 or you can use mail provided up feedback@nejcraft.cz Thanks
The consuming resources when attempting the upgrade without the noted energy of unknown amount) was confusing, but aside from that, solid entry! I definitely loved the voiceovers. I... must... destroy!
THIS GAME WAS AMAZING FULL STARS ALSO...YOU NEED TO MAKE A PART TWO MAKE SOME THINGS A LITTEL MORE EXPECIVE AND MAKE IT BIGGER YAYAYAYAYAYA SOO COOL
What a nice title! I wasn't able to win due to being inherently bad at such games, but I really enjoyed the narration and the voxelart :D
