Synapse by Geckoo1337 2017-12-23T15:01:01Z
Fun game! I'm not sure if I ever truly understood how to properly move the synapses around but I had my own method of madness to complete the levels.

Good idea, and a nice amount of polish too!
Pretty extensive for the time. It hits the theme right on the head too. A cleaner UI would have been more ideal though.
Cute graphics. The acceleration murdered my will to want to play more though, but maybe thats just a personal thing. I though it was a tad slow to decelerate made the movement feel weird for me. Other than that good job, pretty fun!
Cute lil game. Not really my genre but it was entertaining!
The yapping, so much of it. It definitely gets worse the more there are, nailed that theme on the head. Could added some egg snatchers or something that try to steal the eggs, or turn the game into some sort of weird doggo-snake-esc thing. Maybe a future iteration, ahah.
Pretty fun! I kind of wish the player was a bit easier to see / keep track of. The levels are pretty crowded with stuff, but maybe that kind of fits with the theme? Anyways, good job!
Pretty fun! It felt like there was too little on screen for my liking but it was still fun. ^^
Fantastic idea and execution! Really fits the theme, good job =]
I like the idea. I felt the weapon's hitbox was actually a tad small. I saw the attack animation go through the shrooms (quite often) and they weren't hit.
Thematic X 2! Would have been cuter if the elf guy bounced / wobbled around a tiny bit more / less even(?) I guess. Not sure if there is an end game to this but it was still entertaining.
Fun game! Controls felt tight and the idea matched the theme, good job!
Yeah, I've noticed a few things like that that I should change. But I don't know if I'm allowed to anymore? I don't want to break any rules or anything.
Thank you @grostonton! @rob-white It is randomly generated. I decided to add the extra lives when I realized some of the levels can get pretty awkward, but it also allows for strategic suicide missions as the levels get progressively more difficult.
@tvance, thanks for playing! I was pleasantly surprised when the "green collect" sounds actually worked out as intended! Was also afraid it might be a bit laggy (especially if webgl is not enabled), I was more worried about completing it than optimizing it, the codebase is like 900 lines of mess :|
@torcado I didn't realize that about the music :| that really sucks (for me). Thanks for playing and good advice! I think I might polish it up sometime in the future (not for the jam).
@lawrence @mosegames thank you! Glad you enjoyed playing ^^
@bridgs Thank you! I'll have to add something like that in a future iteration.
@mors, thank you. I'll need to think up a good way to prevent the red blobs from completely obstructing the green ones. It seems to be a bigger problem than I had expected it to be.
@lunardust thank you! I'm very happy you enjoyed playing =]
@eldogg Glad you enjoyed playing and good feedback too! The levels are randomized, I'll have to work on the scaling a bit in some future iteration. Thanks for playing ^^
@mads-lentoft Why thank you for playing! It didn't hit me on how chill the game ended up being until near the end of Sunday I was quite pleased after realizing it.
@jchaplin Thank ya very much!
@comatomatoes Thank you! You are actually able to pass through purple blobs if your quick enough and time it between their bullets. But sometimes it is nearly impossible to do that. Glad you enjoyed playing!
@exnihilo @6smith @alottabit @chong-lee thank you all for playing! And I agree on all accounts! Maybe I'll create some hand crafted levels as well as fix the random generation up for the next iteration.
@boltkey @arden @jacobtum Thanks for playing ^^ Glad you all enjoyed it!
I agree that the level size doesn't really ramp up as one would expect it to, I figured the randomness would end up working the level size in better than it did but It definitely didn't (or not as much as I had wanted anyways).
I personally think it fits the theme well but maybe I put enough focus on the mechanics that were created specifically for the theme. (Larger level -> more baddies / other mechanics, more health and more collected -> slower moving player and faster moving enemies, there are a few more) I'll think about pushing the theme a bit harder next jam!
Thanks for the feedback everyone!
@xclementx correct, apparently that is against the rules, I didn't know at the time -- I'm used to the Jam rules I guess.
@ayushman thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed!
I really like the idea! That is very close to an idea I was thinking of doing for this LD. hi5!
Pretty entertaining game. More enemies / changing up the level as you progress would have been a good addition too! Still fun though ^^
Looks pretty great. I like the background image the most, pretty chill. You could probably build on this and make it into a ridiculous 15 minute shmup. *nods wisely*
Awesome! I can't remember what game this /really/ reminds me of but it was fun. There was no audio for me though, that would have been nice. Also (not sure if intended but it felt like a bug) you cant face a direction if you aren't able to move in that direction. Fun though.
Hah, that was fun. As has been said, wasd to move camera. maybe 1,2,3,4 for powers instead of clicking the bar. Could be a mobile game too actually.
Cool! Some suggestions: speed up the lil red dude, make him slide a bit when you stop moving him and have a little bounce when you git a wall.
Fun! I really like the idea. You could totally build on this idea and make a pretty sweet little game. Good job!
Fun little game! I like the little beep boots sound effects. With abit more time you could have added some sort of progression system in it, just a small one could have been cool, like every X currency your sword gets a tad longer but mobs gets a tad faster / spawn faster. Idk, it was fun though! ^^
Nice graphics it all went together quite well. Also good play on the theme. Good job!
Fun! I would have liked to be able to use my mouse to direct the ships direction but maybe that would have been too easy.
Awesome. It all fits together really well! Good job!
Probably more entertaining in VR + twitch (as has been said). But it was neat, thematic and such. I assume with twitch things spawn faster? The demo should have stuff spawn hella fast over time.
Nice! I liked the atmosphere. Not sure if a bug but you can jump fairly often, maybe more then intended? Also the howling sounds are nice but maybe a tad too loud?
Mood, nailed that category. Everything in the game just kind of fit together really well. While not really replayable it was an enjoyable experience. Good job!
Awesome little minigame. I was art and music went together quite well, good job!
I enjoyed ruining my neighbors lives. I think I ended up getting a bunch of negative calm the first time. Not sure if intended or a bug.
I like these types of games! This was pretty fun. If I could suggest, maybe a crosshair in the center of the screen.
Wow, that was pretty cool. For the first time you have to do anything you should be given a little bit more of a grace period I think. Pretty fun though!
The HTML link isn't working for me right now :o I'll check back later, looks like a neat game though ^^
Awesome! Great choice of music really fit the mood. The graphics are pretty silly, I like it. One thing is, if you kind of sit just below the middle of the screen you don't really ever get hit. Maybe just coincidence though.
Pretty funny. I'm sure you could turn that into a silly ass tamagotchi game.
Aesthetic is pretty cool. I wasn't sure at first but I ended up really liking it. Hi5!
I enjoyed it! You guys should totally polish it up a bit and err re-release it? Anyway, good job!
Pretty awesome take on the theme. Was actually enjoyable to play, beat it twice. I really enjoyed coming up with little strategies on how to best form my loops. On bug (maybe) was when the loop is too long and then hits some stuff the screen shake turns up to 11 and camera flies away from play area.
@life-lich you’re right, updated itch.io description! Thank you.
@thescoff I kind of liked the bloop sound but initially I did intent on having it vibe more with the music just didn’t really know how. The particles really can lag, but it looked neat and I didn’t have much time this weekend to really explore alternative effects.
Thanks for playing everyone!
@raphiell i took the tasteless particle approach this jam 😂
Thanks for playing 😊
I liked the mechanics, it was a good take on the loop theme!
Really fun game, I could see this actually being taken and expanded for a slightly more "full" release. Good job!
Looks pretty awesome and the mechanic was neat! I had some weird resolution issues, where the menu and the scene transitions were in a tiny box in the top left corner of the screen.
Art was really nice!
Looks very clean, the bullet glow worked really well =]
Excellent choice of music! I really like your interpretation of the theme, good job!
Really well done! As mentioned previously I think the hitboxes are a bit off but once you get used to it, its mostly okay. It might have just been a combo of the platforming being a little floaty and the hitboxes being the size they were? Great game though, good job!
Really enjoyed how cohesive this game is, everything felt like it belonged! Awesome work!
Not really my type of game but I thought the art work and ambiance were on point.
