Very nice entry
It's a cool little game! Had problems at the start not knowing what exactly I can blow up. For example the first thing I tried to blow up with the bombs were the walls. Then I tried blowing up the red/blue robots and thought the square ones to be my friends!
Minor gripes aside the game's really cool! Congrats
I like the look of the gnome dudes, all together it looks quite nice!
Really solid entry, and I do love me some bomberman.
Maybe a little overboard on the screenshake, but thats pretty nit picky - its a really solid compo entry.
Got really spooked by the music after the long silence, it fits the game really well though. Like the art as well. Maybe some checkpoint for levels? Anyway, really great game!
@prostone with esc you get the menu (it was in the instruction on the left) and you can save from there at any moment =)
@Xacur Oh, guess I need to really go to sleep. Got pretty far even without saving though :D
this ones got a pretty neat feel to it, not controls but just the whole package. 'mood' i guess! nice game.
I enjoyed this! I had trouble finding a place to to be where none of the gnomes following wuld be outside the radius of bombs i would place. Nice job!
The music loop is very short but still ok. Too bad the game is too short I beat it on the first try. Music graphics and playability are solid, we have a polished work here.
@ryan-temple thank you! at the beginning it's explained that the gnomes are immune to your bombs (you are not), they are only killed by the enemies.
It's like Bomberman + that Eagle vs. Chicken childhood game! I've read the other comments that there's music, but it does not seem to play for me (OSX Safari).
Reminds me of bomberman
Fun little game. Seems pretty solid over all, decent graphics, audio and gameplay mechanics. Well done
Nice looking game, was a bit confused I couldn't use a mouse to start the game. Almost gave up.
Good game! Reminded the Highway on the ZX Spectrum.
Hey! Really cool game, impressive for a jam! I haven't found where the theme was implemented, have I missed something? I first thought the gnomes would block you like in a snake game but no.. Would've been interesting! Well done anyway it's fun
Good entry. Maybe making the evil robots more evelish looks will help not mistaking them (yes, I took some walking robots to realise that they where killing me hahaha). Nice job!
Cool and polished game, nice job!
Very beautiful and meaningful game! I loved playing it!
Very clear gameplay, nicely done!
I only had a little bit of time just now but I played it anyway.
First thought: Nice graphics and lightning, overall looking good.
At first, it wasn't quite clear which entities were my friends and which were my enemies. But after touching 1 it became clear, instantly.
I really like that gnomes can give you different abilities (in the form of bombs). This makes me not want to lose them! Also, chain explosions!
Maybe it would be cool to make bombs kickable (nudging it in a direction).
Liked it, nice entry c:. Will try to beat it when I have some more time on my hands!
Can't say I didn't enjoy it :)
Simple, fun and a nice take on bomberman and dungeon crawlers.
Fun! I found that the cross bombs weren't too useful though, maybe give them even more range. Enjoyed the music, the gameplay fit with the theme definitely, and the graphics weren't too bad either. Good job!
Hmmmmm, okay firstly, it's a nice solid entry, it works, and works well enough. There's nothing that feels really broken about any of it. Which is a big plus for jam games.
BUT
The game mechanics feel disjointed, as if they were all made for different games. The trail of gnomes doesn't really work with the bomb mechanic, the cross bomb really didn't make much of any difference, the enemies and the gnomes didn't interact in a satisfying way (often you run away from an enemy but they'd still get your gnomes). The bombs themselves feel like they weren't a fun weapon in this scenario.
So... I dunno, it's okay, but it doesn't really stick out in any way.
Controls feel bit wrong to me, but I'm not really sure why. Also when I start playing I tried to go full Bomber-man and place multiple bombs. Nope.. For me it somehow slowed down the pace of game to almost unbearable waiting. But then I had time to look at your polished graphics :-)
I enjoyed this a lot, well done! The way the gnomes follow you around makes it a really interesting challenge to avoid putting them in harm's way :)
I really enjoy this game
This is a game about the classic struggle between gnomes and floppy disks. I cried at the end. 5 stars.
I liked this a lot and it's a shame it's short but the game is so polished it makes up for it. Bombing the enemies was a little tedious (cross bombs were occasionally unable to kill enemies) and moving around with the arrow keys while keeping the gnomes safe quickly resulted in hand pain (perhaps just me) but those are the only things I can think of that were slightly negative. I love your take on the theme (sort of what I was going for, but executed properly :stuck_out_tongue:) as it adds a layer of strategy to how you move about within the levels.
To sum up, all round very solid, good job :grinning:
Odd little game but I quite like it. Seems really Bomberman-inspired. The sound effects are cool, and after I figured out what exactly I had to do, it was pretty fun. I do think that the screenshake on bomb detonation is a bit too harsh.
Nice variation on bomberman. I like that there are multiple bomb types. The screenshake could be a little bit less aggressive. Good job!
Fun game, I like the atmosphere you create with the music.
Mechanics are good, I like being able to switch weapons. The different colored crates were a nice addition to the game as well. As far as fighting enemies, was a little misleading if I needed to blow them up or get them from behind. Adding another element to the combat system for both player and enemy may be a nice addition to the game as well.
@saucygames thanks for the feedback, I agree. In fact, I had a lot more planed, but didn't have enough time and had to cut a lot and do it soon to make it not look like unfinished. I even wanted some enemies that when killed, their remains will become another type of enemy that you have to bomb again. There is another weapon in the game, but since I cut levels you never get it, etc. It was my first Ludum Dare (and my second game ever) and I think I scoped it too big, luckily for me I know how to cut things from projects to make it on time. Again, thanks for playing it.
@Xacur Nice, yeah you did a good job at turning it into a complete game. I definitely know the feels of cutting features out of LD games. Either way, congrats and good job. Good luck on future LD's.
The music, gameplay, and robots are all great.
Nice Game! I love bomberman clones. This one take it to the next level.
Nice game! Good idea and execution.
Really cool interpretation of the theme!
The content of game is rich.Graphics also good.Really cool.
Nice implementation of the theme! Smooth gameplay and funny sounds
This is a really cool entry. It's like bomberman crossed with snake! The graphics were really nice and the sound effects did their job well.
This game is probably my most favorite compo game (so far). I love how the game combines bomberman with dungeon crawler genre. Nice graphics and the sounds really fit the mood. And it becomes harder avoiding the enemy with more gnomes (which implement the theme very well). Great job!
Good idea and realisation!
Very nice one. I like the sounds it makes an amazing mood. Gameplay is good to, maybe the controls are not so usual for someone (me), but it is comfortable to play.
Very well produced, lots of variety in pickups and gnomes. I think it fit the theme in one of the best ways I've seen, no slowdowns etc... but definitely an elevated level of challenge. Kind of straddles the line between action and strategy, very enjoyable.
Simple game, but with a very interesting design, quickly the game can be much more complex as a puzzle. Congratulations!
Jogo simples, mas com um design muito interessante, rapidamente o jogo pode ter muito mais complexidade como um puzzle. Parabéns!
I found this to be an interesting game. There is definitely some strategy involved and you need to think about where to place the next bomb and especially why. The game was quite polished for being a compo entry. Personally I would make the levels a lot smaller, so to force the player to consider the positions of the robots at all times to make it more challenging.
Overall, a good entry, good job!
This was definitely a challenge game. As someone said, I think smaller but more 'puzzle like' levels would be a really great boone to this game. Otherwise, great! :)
I really like the challenge of babysitting all of the gnomes. I also really like the art style and the depth of the game itself (which you don't see a lot in Ludum Dare entries). Great job!
This was pretty awesome! This one was the first entry that I finished and the first one with the feeling "oh man, finished already?". I love the atmosphere of ancient futuristic ruins and the idea of a Pikmin + Bomberman. I do not feel that was quite on the spot with the theme because I wasn't rewarded for having as many gnomes as possible and the enemies were very slow and easy to avoid, even for my gnomes. But congrats, it's a great game with great potential!
Preventing your gnomes from getting touched by the enemies is a really innovative challenge, I love that. Art style is cute and the solid bomberman gameplay is enjoyable. Nice one! :)
Good work and so much awesome when you're a fan of Bomberman :p
Really nice little game, The mechanics gave it a great strategical edge, and it fitted the theme perfectly as the gnomes got more and more vulnerable the more you got, Super nice graphics, and the sound was top notch! Cheerz!
Graphics and audio are really nice. The way the guys follow in a single file line adds a unique strategy element to the game. I like it.
Very nice entry
I like it. It reminds me of the GBA bomberman games. The sound effects are great.Honestly, I remembered to add SFX to my own game after playing your game.
Very nice entry,i like the art!
Very nice piece of work! I enjoyed it :)
Fun game, Great graphics. I don't like that when the bomb explodes the entire screen shakes. But other than that it's great.
i like it! a very good work for a compo!
Good mechanic that fits the theme really well!
Its a really good game, theme was used in a clever way. Similar to bomberman mechanics but it feels different nice job
Very nice. Creating the best bomberman single player game ever in only 48 hours. Good job.
There was something about the audio that brought me back to a game called Demon's Crest that I played on the SNES. I really loved the mood for that reason. Otherwise good execution and interpretation of the theme. Well done! :)
That was pretty fun! You really hit the theme with this one. One bug? Maybe is somethings the explosion looks like it is catching one of the baddies but it doesn't.
@pinneh Thank you. Yes, the engine I'm using change the position of the events before they move and then does the animation of moving. So, if you or an enemy move fast to an adjacent square, the explosion will look like it hits you, because you are still moving, it's just a fraction of a second but it's noticeable sometimes. I couldn't find a workaround to this before the times run out. Lol, while I'm writing this I've figured out how to do it, but I guess the time pressure was a factor. Thanks for the feedback!
Hey, nice working changing the type of bombs that you can spawn, I think this is really great. Congratulations!
Also, I think the sound is a little bit too loud. Should add more gnomes tho! But I didn't get why the more you have bad it is, is it because the explosion range?
If you need more deep info, you can summon me here. Hope I can help you with this feedback. Also, if possible check my game too.
hey! the gameplay fits the theme well--the more you have, the worse it gets. almost like bomberman with little lemmings following you. Polished visuals and audio.
Really nice game, love the music and it certainly fits the theme well. love to see more of this with more bomb and enemy types.
Crisp controls & graphics. Reminds me a little of a very old game called rescue rover. Nice one :).
The game is addictive, it has very nice art and gameplay for the first time. But then it feels like the game punishes you for playing well when you must lose your long-snake-gnomies-tail.
I know how is hard to create a perfectly polished levels-based game, so you still get high ranks from me.
Pretty neat game! Managing the gnomes fits pretty well with the theme too.
Nice and original game ! It's very polished and it has a great mood. The graphics are pretty too ! However the game is a bit too hard for me I think, my robots always end up killed when I try to run away from the bomb ! Very good entry !
The classic nostalgia bomberman in a new themed shell. Good graphic and gameplay with solid audio. Overall very enjoyable game, nice work.
excellent game, well polished, nice retro style ! i hope you will make a full game of it : it's frustrating to just have only 2 levels but you couldn't design more in 2 days. Nice job!
Nice entry, I like the boomerang-style gameplay. The background music could be a bit better, but still no problem. The game is pretty hard.
@petr-belohlavek I agree about the music. But I had to do it myself and I don't know anything about making music, so I just hit keys until I thought something didn't sound so awful. When I made the last test, I thought about removing it and send it without music. At least people didn't complain much about it.
Cool game
Nice mixup between bomberman and bender, it's great to see that kind of gameplay come back
Really polished entry. It took me a little while to understand I needed to add them to my team but once I figured it out I liked the mechanic. The graphics and sound were well done. Great submission!
Fantastic entry, the visual and audio presentation is top notch! I really like the gameplay mechanic and it ties nicely into the theme. Seems like a Bomberman focused on puzzle-solving. I think bombs being finite is a little unnecessary. Regardless, great work!
Nice little game, which seems straight and to the point. I liked the long chain of robots following me, which reminded me of old NES games like Dragon Quest. Some additional levels would help make the game a little longer, because it seemed like it was over just as I was starting to get the hang of it. It took me some trial and error to learn some of the rules (enemies can kill the Gnome followers, but the Gnome followers can't be hurt by bomb explosions). Also, the game says that you can use cross bomb if you have a blue follower, but you can keep using the cross bomb if your blue follower dies, as long as you don't switch bomb types. I thought the sprites were really cute and made the game enjoyable to play.
Cool game! The graphics fits well with the atmosphere. The music and sound is a bit annoying but it's a compo entry so it's understandable. Better than having nothing. Overall a very cool and fun game! Great job!
Very good execution of the theme and great concept.
I liked how the graphics and the gameplay tied everything together to a coherent whole. I wasn't very good at this game so I only played up to the end of the second level, so I may have missed content.
I think the one thing I would have preferred to make the game easier to pick up again after dying would have been to allow placing more than one bomb similar to Bomberman. That would allow me to clear less dangerous areas quicker.
One comment: usually the itch.io client allows me to download web games but in your case, I got an error message:
robo_error.PNG
It's probably not your target platform, but maybe you wanted to know.
@cerno-b thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I didn't make the windows version because it's so much faster to play it on browser. I could have upload the windows build, but it's about 120MB, and it takes a lot of time. The multiple bombs could have been an upgrade, but didn't have time for that either.
Ah, but I wasn't talking about a specific Windows build. Usually the web builds download fine on the itch client, so it was a bit of a surprise that it didn't work for your game. Not sure whether it's worth fixing, as I said, I would guess that it's a very limited number of people that prefer the itch client over the web version.
Pretty great entry! I loved the little robots, very cute. Super interesting concept. Great job!
This is a great job for a game jam!, I liked the graphics and the game just had an overall good feeling, I probably would have played this game for years on a SNES!
