LD39 — Running out of Power

CREEP by AkirAssasin 2017-07-31T11:52:24Z

This is really good. I'm not really sure why I lost when I did though. Seemed like I lost due to not having enough attack, although the only instruction I read said you lose when you run out of power. I also didn't understand why I can't attack something on the first turn it comes into the play lane.

Recapitate by superpokeunicorn 2017-08-03T11:56:43Z

I like this game a lot. The whole concept of throwing your head like a boomerang is hilarious (and pretty damn fun too). The level design was challenging but fair. Audio and graphics were nice as well. If I had to complain about something, it would be that many of the platforms, even at the beginning, are placed such that you have to jump just perfectly. Great game.

Lead by pvtroswold 2017-08-04T22:16:27Z

Graphics and audio are very nice, but there is no challenge if there is no way to lose. This could definitely be turned into something fun though.

Gain Quest: The Art of Muscle by Devastus 2017-08-06T15:38:39Z

This game is awesome. I actually attempted to make a lifting themed game for my first game ever, so I really appreciate this. I think the minigames are too hard from the start. I could barely manage to do a couple pullups. Bench press seemed to be about the right level of difficulty starting off. The audio and graphics are high quality. Great work with this one.

I/2idium by vados 2017-08-04T12:06:44Z

This game looks really cool, and I wanted to have fun with it. With that said, I couldn't figure out how to move the spaceship. "Impulse Main" or "Impulse Reserve" or just "Impulse" or "Impulse Power" all didn't do anything. I'm sure I'm just missing something obvious, but this ruined the game for me.

Faade by Ace17 2017-08-05T20:02:46Z

Awesome game. This game has a lot of juice, which is something you don't see in a lot of LD games. With that said, I was unable to beat level 2 just due to the fact that the screen distortion/shake gets too violent too quickly. By the time it gets to 50%, it's pretty much unplayable. Still, this is a really great concept that could be a very fun experience with just that one minor tweak.

Running Voltgun by sinclairstrange 2017-08-01T22:34:45Z

I don't even understand how it is possible to create something like that in 2-3 days. What do you do for a living? How much time do you spend each day (or each week) honing your creative and technical skills?

Really, this is an awesome game. I think it would take me at least 6 months (probably longer) to make something like that.

Defend Home: Mars by sgt3v 2017-08-01T22:20:04Z

It's games like this that make me feel inadequate. Really nice game all around. Seems to be very well balanced as well, considering I won but just barely. The muzzle flash is a nice touch. Needs to be played in full screen in order to avoid the problem of your cursor going off the game screen causing controls to become unresponsive.

Full Metal Combat by Ranner198 2017-08-01T22:10:08Z

This game is really fun to play. The main menu buttons were all messed up on the resolution I played at. Not sure what resolution it was designed for. The graphics, audio, and most importantly - gameplay, were all very nice. Good job.

Robogod by multiplexor 2017-08-06T15:19:16Z

The UI is really nice. Audio is on point. The gameplay is fun. There's not much to it, but it is very polished.

Devious Plant Commando by Marcenat 2017-07-31T22:46:16Z

This might be the best game yet! The audio gets 5/5 stars from me - the music and sfx are on point. My only complaint is that ammo seemed to be a bit scarce.

Down to the last Percents by Garazbolg2 2017-07-31T05:57:38Z

I like the art style. It's simple, but still looks great. Pretty cool game overall. I definitely like the idea of adding more apps to the phone.

LD39 - Runner Clone by LogFlames 2017-07-31T12:31:29Z

A nice, simple game. Fun and relaxing to play. I love the graphics. I mean, you aren't going to win in the innovation category, but fun beats innovative any day in my opinion.

Fuse Cell by christina-antoinette-neofotistou 2017-08-04T11:54:57Z

This is a fun game. The audio and graphics are nice, and the charging mechanic works well. Also, the game seems pretty well balanced. I never really felt like anything was impossible to dodge. Good work.

Veggie Power by SpaceSparkle 2017-08-02T12:04:08Z

Really fun game. It is necessary to play in fullscreen in order for the game to not be cropped. I had some trouble figuring out how exactly to make the defenses at first. I know it explains how, but I still didn't understand what shapes exactly to make at first.

The Wizard of Orb by Justashadow 2017-07-31T21:53:27Z

It's a fun game. Imo, the level progression could be a bit faster. I got bored doing the same map three times, although the new powerups did make it more interesting. Other than that, it's a fun game that works well.

Powerpanel by Crckbaerchen 2017-07-31T12:11:48Z

Seems fair enough to call it a game. For your first game ever - not bad! The biggest disappointment to me is just that there was no replay button after getting a game over, so I had to refresh the page.

The gameplay itself is a bit confusing. I wasn't able to figure out when I should be turning the knobs or when I should be pressing the buttons.

The Magical Substance: Coffee by FunkyHippo 2017-08-03T12:05:51Z

It's a fun game. Kind of hard to actually get a good score, but the gameplay is fun anyways. The sound effects were nice, but it could definitely benefit from some music. Overall, a good game. I had fun with it.

Hungry Sky by edmond00 2017-08-06T15:07:53Z

A really unique concept. The game is fun, but it could really do with some end-objective. I think the lightning mechanic could make for some neat puzzles and/or boss fights if you decide to move forward with this concept.

B1NMAN_ROFP by davideperozzi 2017-08-05T19:53:38Z

This is a really cool game. I really like the gun blowback mechanic. My only gripe with the game is that the player character moves so fast that it's hard to jump on the platforms. Great work though. I would love to play a version with audio. I gotta know what that beam sounds like.

Titan LD39 Compo by NamInUz 2017-07-31T23:05:34Z

The graphics are really nice. The concept is really unique. However, I still don't know what I'm supposed to be doing.

DM Slider 9000 by dann_ 2017-07-31T06:04:11Z

Great concept. Has potential bring joy to the hearts of many internet users if fleshed out a bit more. I would love to see it more fleshed out... I would love to see the dik pics more fleshed out..."fleshed" out. Get it?

In all seriousness, there's not much to it obviously, but I had fun.

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

A Walk To The Finish Line by jk5000 2017-12-19T00:53:48Z

Innovative concept. Great music and sfx. The graphics are decent (works well for what it is). The game doesn't seem to perform well (it's a bit laggy). Overall, the gameplay is nice with clever level design. Great work!

Disease In Sewers by Yvanor 2017-12-04T13:21:44Z

I'm not a big fan of platformers, but this one is good. I can tell you actually put a lot of thought into the level design, and I'm surprised at just how much game there is. You put a lot together in a small amount of time. The art is simple but nice. Good work.

Temples of Purgatory by Gulyasarni66 2017-12-05T04:13:30Z

My only complaint is that I wish the movement was faster. Really great game. So great, that I honestly find it hard to believe that you made this in 48 hours. If I'm wrong then just take it as a compliment. Great work. Love the music too.

Holiday Parking Panic! by FormalCloud 2017-12-04T05:23:54Z

Well the nice thing is that you don't even have to go into the store since you found all the gifts in the parking lot.

A fun, simple game with holiday cheer. I enjoyed playing it. The rainbow boost was a nice touch. I can vaguely understand how this fits the theme, but I do think it's a bit of a stretch. Great job though overall. The game is fun.

Calorie by Terryd98 2017-12-04T05:17:12Z

I see I'm not the only one to take this interpretation on the theme. The game is fun, and the art creates a nice mood. My only complaint with this game is that it gets too difficult too early. After several attempts, I just couldn't beat the third level. Also, I wish the umbrella effect lasted longer. It reminds me of the sheet in Alladin for SNES.

The Beforlorne Wander by pvtroswold 2017-12-18T02:56:16Z

I like the graphics and audio very much. The game is fun, but there's not much original about it. With that said, the level design is well done, so the game is enjoyable to play. And as everyone else has already said, this seems to have nothing to do with the theme.

Steam Paralysis by Nammflow 2017-12-04T23:11:08Z

That was surprisingly fun. The graphics and audio could be improved, but the fundamental mechanics are solid. It does seem like the top 1/3 of the screen is pretty much unreachable though.

Strange Keyboard by el-pepi 2017-12-04T04:59:23Z

This is the first typing game I've played that doesn't require me to use a keyboard. The graphics and audio create a nice, kind of creepy ambiance. The difficulty curve seems just right to keep people hooked. "I know I can do better next time!" My only complaint is that sometimes I would hear footsteps, but when I turn around nobody is there. I guess they were in the hallway.

Guero by beta 2017-12-05T01:10:05Z

Swinging around is a lot of fun. It's like a spiderman burglary simulator. The music is perfect for setting a burglary scene. My only complaint is that I don't really see how this fits the theme. Good game though. Great job.

Duck Guardian by mahalis 2017-12-08T04:40:04Z

For a small game, this is so demanding on my computer that it lags too much to play effectively.

Even so, great work. The graphics and sfx are beautiful. The gameplay isn't anything exciting, but it's fun enough. Well done.

The Harsh Life of Terry the Homeless Dude by lautregars 2017-12-08T04:49:25Z

This game is hilarious. I like the art style a lot. The game concept is okay, but very well executed. Great job.

Money Laundering Simulator by candlesan 2017-12-16T23:40:05Z

This game is a lot of fun. It is very well balanced. I enjoyed it. I guess I would say the weak point is just the graphics and lack of music, but nothing was so negative that it detracted from the gameplay. Great job.

Crystalien: Mega Blastar by Gurbx 2017-12-19T01:44:19Z

Great graphics. Nice audio. A lot of juice. I really enjoyed this one. Great job.

TetrisTank by shrekshao 2017-12-04T23:01:56Z

Very innovative idea, and it is fun, but there are some issues. I can't seem to figure out how to move the tank. Can it move? Also, the replay button doesn't work, although I did eventually find out that I could press Space to replay.

I think this game has a ton of potential. The tank needs to be drivable, and there should be more weapon/block types, and more enemy types.

Nano Life by primitive-concept 2017-12-05T00:13:39Z

This truly is a unique game. I'm not going to act like I understand what's going on, but I had fun with it.

Gluttony Simulator by BelowParallel_Ian 2017-12-04T05:30:30Z

@rargrave , the issue is most likely just that the game is too laggy to play in your browser. There is a direct download available on the itch page. The windows version should work perfectly. Let me know if there is any issue.

Gluttony Simulator by BelowParallel_Ian 2017-12-05T01:43:13Z

@criggles @mosegames I am overjoyed that you enjoyed my music. I started learning how to compose music maybe 3 months ago, and it is encouraging to hear that some people actually like it.

A Dying City by minimurgle 2017-12-04T23:58:04Z

I like the concept, but it's just too much to do in one turn. Also, it's hard to tell how my actions are affecting each sector. My suggestion is to make the game start slower, like maybe you only have control of 2 or 3 sectors and you have to unlock the rest.

This concept has a lot of potential. I hope you keep at it. I'd love to see what it could be.

Circus Tyke Balance Hype by quixatocs 2017-12-04T13:07:47Z

The art is really nice. The game could be fun if it was possible to lose. I tried it without touching any buttons and still won. Also, I found the dialogue to be a bit excessive. Overall, good job.

Re:Tileation by Akusan 2017-12-18T04:29:27Z

Awesome game. Fun, innovative concept that is well executed. I think this game would be accessible even for deaf people too, so it's got that going for it. I really enjoyed this one. Great work!

Deadline by Sholf 2017-12-05T00:22:09Z

Probably the most fun of all the games I've played so far. This is really great all around. The gameplay is addictive, audio is nice, and the concept is innovative and fits the theme well. The weakest area for this game is probably the graphics, but they aren't even bad. Great work.

Get in Shape by Prostone 2017-12-04T04:51:03Z

Man, this is stressful. Very interesting concept, and I like the interpretation of the theme. This is a great example of how less can be more with a just a bit of ingenuity. Great job.

Friends.OS by Rob White 2017-12-19T01:01:21Z

Really cool concept. My only issue is that I ran out of time trying to read the tool tips the first time I came to a new activity. Great game overall.

RedCell by kkneville 2017-12-04T04:39:45Z

The game is alright, but it needs more explanation. I know I'm supposed to pop the bubbles and avoid the green stuff, but what about the blue stuff? Should I avoid it? Should I try to go through it? Also, the green stuff killed me when I jumped underneath it, but wasn't even very close to it (certainly not touching).

Overall, I like the concept. It's simple, sure, but that doesn't stop it from being fun. If the goals and aims were more clear, and if there was some audio, and maybe some enemies or other obstacles - I could see this being a really fun game.

Robo Tomb by Xacur 2017-12-05T23:15:39Z

Graphics and audio are really nice. The way the guys follow in a single file line adds a unique strategy element to the game. I like it.

Aimmo by WoooWooo 2017-12-04T05:36:38Z

It's like a drunk shooting simulator. The concept is actually pretty fun. Just throw in some light platforming and some bad guys and you've got yourself an interesting game.

Don't Get Hangry by SniperA 2017-12-04T22:55:07Z

It's simple, but fun. Very innovative concept. One of the red guys fell on top of my head, so I just walked around for a while wearing him as a hat. Personally, I think the weight gain happens too quickly, but that's just a matter of taste.

Smack`Em! by mess110 2017-12-05T00:02:18Z

Audio and graphics are really nice. Unfortunately, the game did not run very well for me, but that is probably more of a reflection on my computer than anything else. Either way, I enjoyed playing.

Mizu by sbarrio 2017-12-07T23:56:25Z

Great concept. Very unique. The levels are well designed, which makes the game fun to play. The controls could be tighter, but this game works well as a proof of concept.

Ice Cream Island by spaceturtle 2017-12-05T23:27:59Z

The seagull cut scene was a nice touch, but I think we only need to see it one time. The graphics are tremendous. Really great job. This game is just begging for a bubblegum pop soundtrack.

Caribou Simulator by Gus the Shark 2017-12-05T00:35:05Z

It's hard for me to wrap my head around this being created in only 48 hours. How long have you been developing games? Did you use any prior made assets for this game?

Great job. A lot of games on here have either an innovative concept or fun gameplay. This has both, plus great atmosphere. This could definitely turn into an awesome game if you decide to work on it some more.

Open the Moon Gate by professor 2017-12-05T00:57:23Z

This is similar to my entry for LD38, except this is way better. This type of game can easily be boring, but the juicy sfx and music helps keep me entertained. The graphics are nice too, as well as the gameplay mechanics. I like the idea of creating a second astrological body that you must defend. It's a good way to increase difficulty. Great job.

SHROOOMS by theloneplant 2017-12-04T05:05:06Z

Really fun little game. I like the art style a lot, and the music fits the theme of the game perfectly. I wish the mouse button did the eating instead of the "E" key. I have to choose between moving right or eating. Great game overall. I really enjoyed it.

Birty Land by FelipeDev 2017-12-18T03:07:02Z

It's too difficult at the start. The game has great aesthetics, and I love the rpg elements.

LD42 — Running out of space

Monster Girl Chaos: Hollow Apple by FireSlash 2018-08-19T22:42:05Z

Very well executed and fun game. Since you didn't opt out of any categories or say otherwise, I will assume you two created all of the art and music in the 72 hour period. If so, wow! Really great job.

Triage by Chao 2018-08-25T15:09:25Z

This is a well made game with a lot of depth considering the length of time it was made in. I think it would benefit from some sort of reward or punishment mechanic. At the end of the day I see who all died and who I saved, but why do I care? If I earned more money based on how many I saved, for example, and I could purchase some kind of powerup or something, maybe I would care. Criticism aside, I enjoyed the game. The background ambiance is reallly immersive. Great work, guys.

Freezing Sky by Zeriver 2018-08-18T15:18:46Z

I very much enjoy this style of game, and this one is well done. There was one big problem though: I build a quarry on the rightmost space, and the button to add workers to it was off the screen! I mean, this may have to do with the resolution I chose (I chose windowed mode at the default resolution). Also, the day cycle is too slow, and nothing is going on at night. I end up having to wait for a couple minutes while nothing is even happening. Anyways, great game overall!

City2048 by shrekshao 2018-08-19T23:09:41Z

I like this game a lot. It could definitely be better with some better balancing, but it is already a ton of fun as it is.

High Castle by Wheffle 2018-08-13T23:22:41Z

A lot of fun once you understand how it works. The difficulty ramps up a bit fast imo. Great work on the music and graphics as well. I enjoyed it.

The Virus! by DogSquad 2018-08-25T14:46:51Z

Pretty well made for what it is. Imo, it is a bit too difficult from the very beginning, but that's ok. Also, it could benefit from some music. That aside, it's a fun little game. Good job. (btw, if you don't know, the way to get more ratings for your game is to rate and comment on other peoples games. There is an algorithm that will put your game at the top of the list whenever you've rated more games than the number of ratings you've received)

Space Taters by Jan 2018-08-19T14:40:22Z

I couldn't figure out how to use the public message or torch or chainsaw. Other than that, great work! I really enjoyed this. Sure, there's not much to it, but you've got a great foundation there for something amazing in the future. Personally, I think you should keep going with this.

Question: what tools did you use to make this in Java? (like for the graphics or anything else)

Escape From Pompeii by ThatSommeS 2018-08-19T14:24:01Z

I like this game. The music is great. The gameplay and concept is really fun. Unfortunately, the game crashed on me after the third stage.

War For Space by DrSkort 2018-08-14T22:29:54Z

This looks like it would be fun, I just simply cannot find out how to move troops. I click "set destination" then click on another planet or out in space or w/e... nothing happens.

Warehouse Simulator 2018 by PSiv 2018-08-15T23:05:18Z

I am not very good at this game. I like the concept, but some things weren't very clear to me. Like, how does the score system work? My first playthrough I got only 1 box on the conveyor while I got 3 boxes in the second playthrough. Yet both times I got a score of 40. Anyways, good job. This could be a fun game with some refinement and well planned level design.

Will Survive by foxserranu 2018-08-13T22:27:12Z

Really well made. The music is great, as is the art. My only complaint is that it isn't all that much fun just chopping trees. Are there supposed to be monsters? I never saw any.

Great work, guys.

Space Inc by Lander Miskolczi 2018-08-15T23:14:50Z

Basic style of game, but good execution. Once I learned the obstacles and controls, it seems infinitely easy (as if the difficulty isn't scaling). My main complaint is that the screen movement is so fast it is a bit nauseating, but maybe that's just me. Great work on this one. I enjoyed it.

Interstellar Stupidity by Jono953 2018-08-16T22:31:48Z

This was very well made for sure. The music (and audio overall) is spectacular imo. I also am a fan of the art style. I will say that the gameplay leaves something to be desired. To me, it just isn't much fun. Not that anything about it is poorly designed necessarily; maybe it's just my taste. Great work!

Too Much Post by Thomas den Hollander 2018-08-19T14:10:14Z

The music is great considering the short amount of time you had to make it. The concept of the game is pretty neat. As it is, there is not much to it, but I think the overall concept has a lot potential to incorporate some interesting strategy. Good work.

Archer Librarian by Neverdusk 2018-08-13T23:47:51Z

Definitely a unique concept. The controls feel kind of unintuitive to me. Like, I just can't get the hang of the fact that I have to click again to reel in after hooking a book. Either way, great work. I enjoyed it.

Crumble by anstabo 2018-08-14T22:22:37Z

The graphics are really nice. Overall, it's a fun game, but quite difficult. Great work!

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

CardRacer by Smooth 2018-05-08T22:55:38Z

Well there certainly isn't much to it. It's pretty much like playing War. With that said, it works, and it's actually kind of fun to keep clicking and see the results.

AstroDeck by Ben Pearson 2018-04-24T00:07:33Z

Is the ship supposed to be invisible except for the flames out the back? Also, I never saw an asteroids, but the ship was randomly destroyed. I was playing the web version btw.

Flappy Nerd by eddynardo 2018-05-09T00:00:29Z

Fun and well made. The sfw are subtle but important. My top score was 11. Great work.

Piece of Paradise by afendar 2018-05-06T18:14:10Z

I like the idea, and the graphics are done well. I wasn't sure exactly how I could manage to get enough food. Also, wasn't sure what the other guys do.

Clidger by Mathiouza 2018-04-23T23:52:50Z

Really well done. You know a Ludum Dare entry is good when it's actually fun to play, and this is fun. My only gripe is that the enemies are a bit too difficult. They shoot too fast. Great work. I enjoyed it.

a new day dawns by Ovidios 2018-05-09T00:39:05Z

Very good game. I played for a while. Day 10 was my best. This is fun.

RTHM by fashionbatman 2018-04-24T00:48:54Z

This game is awesome! The music is really nice. I couldn't figure out if it makes any difference which emoji you send. Also, I will be reporting youfor homophobia for not giving the option to send the two-gay-dads-emoji. Great game though.

Similize the Savages by silkworm_sweatshop 2018-04-26T23:57:51Z

Awesome game! This is really fun, nice graphics, and the music is really good. What did you use to make the music?

Platform Hero by elemel 2018-04-25T00:01:53Z

The gameplay mechanics work well, and the music is awesome. The second level was a bit too hard imo. Great work.

Groove Chase by Matt Pattabhi 2018-04-24T00:02:46Z

I thought about making a rhythm game but ultimately decided it would be too difficult, so nice job with this one. I wish there was an easy mode though, cause it is very hard for me. What did you use to make the music? It's really nice.

土星の台頭 - Saturn Rising by p-r 2018-04-24T00:41:35Z

The concept is very interesting, but I find it to just be too much going on all at once. Nice work though.

Basketball Tactics by BelowParallel_Ian 2018-04-24T01:32:09Z

@JezPez - there is no AI, simply because I didn't have enough time to make it. I ended up just making it reset positions and give the other team a point if you miss your shot, but that's as far as I made it with the AI unfortunately. I may flesh this out further in the future, since I do like the concept and I think it could turn into something fun.

Pill-Boy's Text Adventure Platformer by Damien Remars 2018-04-23T11:55:45Z

Fun game. Interesting idea. I wasn't able to beat the fourth level (the one with the enemies). Great work!

Unwinged Platzzle by mgsx 2018-05-01T01:05:53Z

Very innovative idea here. Great execution as well. I think the overall "fun factor" is missing, but that could be fixed with some further refinement. Great work!

Very awesome, especially considering you've only been making games since the beginning of this year. The music is really nice for being made in such a short amount of time. Great work!

Really well done. I wish I could choose which player to control at any time. I like the style of the graphics a lot, and I didn't encounter any bugs. Good work.

Dual-Threat Quarterback by Jack Hipson 2018-04-24T01:02:42Z

Great game all around. My only complaint is that the red team players move a bit too fast. The controls felt nice and smooth.

91' Evolution Football by Derek Volker 2018-05-01T23:48:52Z

You made two really hype retro video game style songs in less than 48 hours (while also creating this game in that same time frame). That alone is something to be proud of. The graphics I like a lot. The game concept I like a lot. The gameplay mechancis need some work to make the game more fun, but this is a terrific start and a great LD entry.

Yaxis by TimeLoad 2018-04-23T12:13:57Z

Really interesting idea. I've never looked at gaming from that perspective before. As far as "theme" goes, I'm not sure what the two incompatible genres are here. We've got platforming and ______? Anyways, cool game and great execution.

The forgotten jacket by CodeKoto 2018-04-24T01:22:22Z

The aesthetics and overall ambience is very nice. When it comes to attacking, I didn't know if I needed to press the key repeatedly or just once. Also, does it mean I lost the fight if the person talks to me afterwards?

Overall, really nice game here. I enjoyed it.

Project 'X' Malfunction by L14 Game Studio 2018-05-08T23:03:05Z

Unless I am mistaken, you are not allowed to participate in the Compo if you did not create everything yourself over the 48 hour period. So the music disqualifies you.

I like your game though. Really great work for your first time.

Deal Them 21 by devinwilson 2018-04-24T00:19:05Z

I don't think I was able to deal any cards. I mean, I hit the guys with the cards. I hit the place-mats in front of them with the cards, but the cards always deflected away. Cool concept, and I like the style.
