A hero's journey by Minemes 2018-08-15T21:12:52Z
Hard to get used to the controls and would probably be better if you turned with movement. But a fun game once you get used to the controls.

Dumb cop... I played this at work.. boss thought it was hilarious!
Very fun, but would have loved if you had added a few more levels
Ugh.. making me think after 3 days of game jam :stuck_out_tongue: It's a bit hard to understand what you're supposed to do without reading the description on this page. I'll def play this some more tomorrow after getting a good nights sleep
Fun game, would love to see walls reset after death and some sort of (bigger if it's already in place) minimum distance between the player and alien spawns.
Not really my humor, Seems like your trying too hard to be like Portal. But don't really grasp the portal humor get's kind of annoying. The game however is really well made and fun to play. Movement seems fluid and The ship looks really good!
The movement of the dragon feels slightly off but overall the game is pretty great and where can I buy a Kurisou plushy? asking for a friend, really!
@trenchcoat-phoenix Thank you, Yes it has a bug where it can randomly crash after a short time playing. Will try to fix the bug later today.
@mathiouza Hehe thank you! The randomness is amazing :-P Sometimes you can just walk right out, other times you're very lucky and can walk for a long time only to have the exit you were aiming for flooded by lava :-D And that damn bug was not there 5 minutes before release...
@trenchcoat-phoenix @freetomax @rother-games @kruemelkeksfan @mathiouza The game breaking bug should be removed now (At least for me so far :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: ) So if you want to try the game again that would be awesome!
@freetomax (please don't crash.. please don't crash... please don't crash..!!)
@cydouzo & @darylsteak Thank you for your extensive reviews! It's a big help going forward in our respective careers!
Please don't put LD games on ad sites like kongregate.. Other than that, after a lot of trying I did manage to finish the game! Awesome little mini game. But I would probably not be able to do any more than 10 :stuck_out_tongue: Far too frustrating!
For most of the game the obstacles just disappear before I reach them and when they don't they come towards me very quickly.
Please use WASD and not the arrow keys.. And the game starts very slowly, am I supposed to do anything other than collect garbage to get it going?
Was pretty laggy on my low end laptop at my night shift (not checking cameras, only support phone) Will test it at home tomorrow!
Tanks are Awesome! Not sure if this is a problem isolated to touchpads, but i was unable to turn and move/shoot at the same time. and the retry button did not work.
@haeder2132 Sorry that was a problem with this shitty HP laptop...
This seems really fun! Now I just need to find a friend
With a little more polish I could probably play this for hours!
Well done, tent got stuck to the cursor on my first attempt but after a restart I was able to lose a town :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
Seems very interesting but TMDP TBH
Haha.. So Russia is not gonna be flooded? or will the bats stay on the boat until I eventually go to Russia? Quick and funny game with a lot of heart! Thank you
Very relaxing after so many shooting games!
It's kind of fun. Needs more work on the visuals. The feedback when punching is not great, and it needs a mute button.
Please make a full version! Love the gameplay and mechanics
Very beautiful and a good story. Don't really like the gameplay XD
WebGl build works for me, but can't seem to find the password..
Lovley game! Love the graphics and the "story", I have several cats myself and this is just plain funny!
Fun, but a bit too slow... Needs faster fireing and more coins from the getgo (and higher prices)
Amazing, beautiful and fun! And can't believe this was made in 3 days
@oune That's weird and annoying... I've tested it on 4 different computers using several diffenrent browsers and am unable to recreate an issue with the button. Did the button highlight when you hovered above it?
@ithildin The market trends and training system were the next things we would have worked on given time enough to even playtest it ;-) Could probably have explained the age system in the description though. The ideal age for a slave is 25 yo, when the market favors age, they care less if the slave is older or younger than 25. If the market disfavor age, the further away a slave is from 25, the less they are worth.
@sky909 Thank you! An unowned slave has no name! Could have had something like a progress bar for training. But the more slaves you get the less you care about how long individual slave take to train ;-)
@bar Yeah.. Didn't have time to playtest. The value of the slaves should have been calculated as owned property in your total amount. And slaves should have increased more in value based on stat increases and market trends.
@rongo-matane Thank you! We actually have 6-7 stats, but didn't have time to implement them properly. But they are counted when setting the value for the slaves ;-) It is real-time, but that should probably be mentioned and visible in-game.
@adrien-dittrick Humans are the best merch!!
@oune Yeah.. didn't have time to add the options menu, so that's not supposed to work ;-)
@nonimad Thank you! Yes it's insanely slow... didn't have time to play test
@zchen Thank you for the praise! And thank you for the ideas! Yeah the goal is 1 million... It's actually taken from historical social structures. Problem is that we didn't have time to play test and tweak the value system
@zchen Thank you for trying our game!
Mute button please XD
Cool idea, Movement needs a lot of work as does the art. Love the potential of the combat style
Fun game! Gets a little repetetive and needs a mute button. But I couldn't stop nonetheless so Chuck had to wait!
Played for 5 seconds. The movement and sound almost made me puke. Would try againg if the movement was removed
Thank you @fernofai! We scoped the game as if we had a couple of months to make it, then worked on the MVP
@cabritta Thank you for trying or game and for the amazing feedback!
We sadly overscoped the game quite a bit, so we had no time left for tutorials or more indept instructions. In hindsight I have added this to the game description here.
I'm glad you enjoyed your time in our game <3
The phsysics are a bit wonky, making everything feel very unstable. Love the concept and the story
It is a fantastic concept, would love to see it expanded upon!
Wow, just wow! We talked about doing something with baby deliver. Something evil and bloody, but we never even imaginged going this far xD
Pretty addicting
On point with the theme, and love the story around the theme
Wow, I'm mesmerized by the mechanics of this game. I don't think I've every seen anything like it. I would love to see a refined version of this. Oh, the possibilities!
Wow, just wow. You've really outdone yourselves considering the amount of time you had to make this!
Wow, I could play this for hours, and its so simple. I did end up outside the play area a bit too often though... Screenshot 2023-10-09 143414.png
Really love the graphics and style, voice acting is superb. I had a hard time getting books into the top shelf and did end up ragequitting
On the money with the theme. I could seriously play this for hours. Except for the fact that the king trumps everything and could just jump around to remove all other cards
I love the atmosphere of the game! And It gets hard fast! I did manage to get a bit further once I got used to the hitboxes and could more easily hit the enemies. Good job
You are way to pessimistic  It is worth mentioning that this game was made in like 12-16 hours instead of the 72 you are given
I like the graphics, the sound gets a bit buggy sometimes, which gets a bit annoying. With a bit more time spent on minor polishes, this could be great
This was fun!! Hated all the clicking in the start, but the reliefe I got from automation was perfect!
I enjoy this type of game and the theme was amazing!
I tryly expected the Last summoning to be another burger, all that work, and you get a burger.
@alezjl That is a great idea! That's definitively something we should do
@joshanthony1990 Unintentional feature, but considering our balancing is weighted towards the more difficult side, let's called it planned ;-)
We're actually saving the personal leaderboard data, but didn't get time to add it XD
@anton-florey It is currently infinite. Eventually the monster summoning will overrun the world
Love the visuals, the theme and style. The controls are a bit too combersome, making the game a bit hard to play.
Soo simple, yet so much fun, I could play this for hours
Interesting concept, just lacked in content. Whish there was more of a point to the game
Very thourough game, love the world and the day/night cycle. Impressive amount combination system and interesting story.
Sound could use a little work, but other than that, this game almost feels close to being a market ready small game.
Oh, and I got a couple of fire crystals, never found a use for them, as they didn't work on the golem.
Very hard to get used to the summoning part, I had a lot of fun commiting suicide XD Love the idea, love the sounds, It's a bit annoying to so often jump/fall into the unknown.
Very creative and a fun twist on the tower defence genre! I enjoyed the sounds and visuals, the controls took some getting used to, but after a few levels I had it down.
Seems like the sounds gets messed up a lot, an I would have loved to hear the shooting sounds etc more consistently.
We also made a type of tower defence for this jam!
Very fun, enjoyed the mixing to make different minions, my best game was ended by me accidentally pushing a piece of meat onto the "do not press" button....
@samuel-hollywood-summers Yeah, we're working on communicating controls and functions better. Middle mouse and Right mouse buttons can be used to pan. Wheel can be used to zoom. Thanks for trying
@maksim-shalaev :cool: :cool:
@spacecadet Thank you for playing! We would have love to add more content, but with this style of game, there's a good bit of waiting. But the key to progression is timing the use of the "God Powers" and as you progress they are very actively used.
@thefruckets Thank you for the kind words and for playing our game! If we were to expand on the jam version we would definitively add more interactions.
@byk Thank you for the kinds words and for trying our game!
@karamelika22 Thank you! We appreciate your kind words!
@deantwotwo Thank you! As do I, glad I was finaly able to convince the other guys to join me in making something like this xD The upgrades all have hover labels, we could have propably designed those better  Psst! Don't tell anyone, but I added a cheat (ctrl + alt + F2) which speeds up the game even more. But I wouldn't use it in the web build
@callumlarge Thank you for your feedback! When you unlock God Powers and start timing them, you will get very busy. If you want to progress faster
Thank you @cliff-coffee, I definitively did not spend way to much time on balancing and ended up having to cut features, definitively.
@nickhellquist We actually added much more SFX, it's in the desktop build (original build) bit Godot web build crapped put because of it for some reason...
Wow, this is pretty F***** good. Love the splitting mechanic and how well it actually works. I split up to very tiny slimes xD
I am so calm after this. Wasn't calm when I realized that I was not supposed to move all of the flies to the right. But I am calm now xD
We also had a similar issue with Godot 4.3 web build audio causing memory issues. I just ended up removing a bit of our audio. But I read somewhere that it could be fixed by using .wav instead of .ogg.
Fun game! The third survivor ish game I played after LD56
This is the most stressful game I have played in a long time... Amazing!
Very interesting take on Frogger, Quite fun and relaxing
That was hard! Very smooth and very unforgiving
Sadly the web version didn't work for me
Man, this was so much fun! Feels like a simple version of Death must Die
Asking for reviews, when you don't review other people's games, is not cool.
I spent too much time playing this, thank you! I was a little confused as to how the missions actually worked in my first play, but figured it out an had fun!
Thank you!
My god, this was surprisingly fun! I went all in on frost, so the last boss never hit me, finished the game with 50/50 hp. Good job!
Absolute Mayhem! I would have loved to see some kind of depth or score tracker in game.
And some prompts for what to click in the start of the game. Click 'E' to buy, etc
Oh! and hold space to attack, instead of mashing space like a crazy person
Wow, very original! I did not enjoy get SAd by a tentacle monster. It's been a while since I played a puzzle game with a mechanic I've not seen before, thank you
I do love incrementals! How did you know? Screenshot 2025-04-09 210936.png
@grid96 The distance is fixed, but the speed increases all the time, so we get just a little illusion that it might be random
Probably had to have read the book xD
Cool entry. Very original, feels like an early 2000s style game
Almsot feels like I'm doing aim training for CS XD It was a fun experience non the less
It seems i often lose the money on retry? And having to use the mouse to click retry was quite annoying.
This could be very fun, but as long as I rarely seem to keep the money I make from the fish, it just takes too long to progress in the begining
Thank you, my arm is numb now... Interesting take, the text to speech ruined it for me.
Very interesting take! I never read the game description before starting to play, as I believe a game should be able to tell me what I need to do. This game was very hard to play without reading the description/instructions.
The cards were confusing and required a lot of experimentation to figure out, and it was not a given what was happening or what effect the cards had from just the visual elements.
However, I did enjoy the style and this was a very fresh take, so if you just work on presentation in-game and make it obvious for the player what is happening, this could have been a great game.
Thank you for making this for us, I hope I see you in LDJAM 58!
No links? Ping me when that's sorted please
Didn't understand what I'm supposed to do.. but the game looks good ;-)
So far the best game I've tried this Ludum Dare. Would love some kind of way to spend my money and more diversity in the skins for civilians. But overall the mechanics of the game are very good!
My arm is so tired right now I can barely write this comment... Game was fun and the combination did not work at all (Well done!) A bit short (thankfully!!) and could have been a bit darker and more moody music but well done!
Before I test this I would like to ask you if the version uploaded now with bug fixes were uploaded before the LD41 time limit or for a Change log to see if it's following the rules of the Jam
Love it! could play for hours if there was a bit more content! Love the theme and game mechanics. Would love to see it balanced and polished in the future! Thank you and well done!
I see someone else mentioned it before but a screenshot would be appreciated. I love TD type games, especially when you get something more to do during each wave. I didn't love the low friction movement though.
Link doesn't work
Very interesting combination. The space parts seems more like a theme for the poker game more than its own genre. Nice gameplay and good sound effects.
@Lost-Dutchman-Software We should probably have said so in the description but most of the movement is predictable. The enemy ships will always move 1 tile forward, turn left or right and shoot.
@nina I'm sorry to say that I'm unable to recreate your problem. I tried opening it with both WinRAR and 7zip. For me it works with both.
@OscarTrevejo @seurimas @Wassim Link should work again now. Sorry about that.
@Urban-Logic-Games Wow I like that idea :-P Will def implement it if we make a post LD version. We did intend for you to be pick anywhere between 1 and 3 cards, but right before release we found a game breaking bug and just had to force the 3 cards.
@artiko missing music? There should be music in the game
@Artiko Awesome! You scared me there :-P
@automatonvx I'm glad you were able to fix the 7zip bug! I agree in all of criticism and will take it with me to future games and possibly this one if we decide to improve it. Thank you for playing and reviewing!
@nina I'm glad too see you managed to fix the 7zip problem and have been able to play games!
@Invixel Wow, not sure how that might have happened, I will have to investigate!
@AnaGF Thank you! The AI is actually very simple and very hard-coded but due to the small screen size and the slight randomization it looks much more advanced than it really is. We do have a bug with the home planet where a new one spawns every 10 steps or so after the first one that's why you keep getting the message. 😉 As to not finding it, if we were to make a game like this again I would probably have an arrow pointing in the general direction of the home planet.
@merlin Thank you for the nice words! Don't tell @Ranzor but I also like the art style (wouldn't want him to get too high on himself!) as to address your problems I will adopt your style and order: * The cards right now are completely random which for better or worse make the game much harder, given more time I would probably have made a sort of "pool" of cards that were being drawn from. Right now it's random with a priority order like this: Forward > Double Forward == Turn Right == Turn Left > Shoot > U-Turn. * After some testing there seems to be some bugs related to going left that cause this bug. Has to do with how the camera movement is set up. You're never supposed to be able to fly on the outer most grid rows/columns and this will cause the game to crash. * We did talk about having a few more card types but didn't have time to implement and properly test those. But I love the possibilities of a shield card 😁 * Ideally it would probably be best to be allowed to choose how many cards you want to use.. We had a bug with the selection of less than 3 cards so we ended up locking it there due to the aforementioned time constraint 😫
@Crimson Thank you for your overall nice praise! 😉
Very fun concept with some fine tuning and som more features this could be a very fun game!
The game was very hard and I died after placing the first turrets.... Then i randomly hit shift and found my hitbox  Suddenly a walk in the park! Fun game, thank you!
Creepy AF, Would actually have preferred it if you locked the mouse right away :-P
Congratulations on you first submission! It's a very fun game and would love to play a future and polished version. As of right now I could only play for a short while before suddenly being unable to buy movement pieces. Not sure what happened.
Very fun game, thank you! Would have loved a different way of mining. Something like holding down space to mine or something but other than that it was a blast!
To be honest this game is far too hard and takes way too long too be rewarding.. Might be fun if you slow down the start a whole lot. Can't really rate the sounds as all I heard was explosions.. :stuck_out_tongue:
Nice physics! Could play an improved version of this for hours! maybe less players and faster player controls would make it even better!
Very fun game. would love to play longer and might do so when I'm off work and can download the windows version. the Web player one does not work very well due to it sometimes not registering click and subsequently blocking the movement keys. If the Windows version is better I would heavily recommend others giving this a go!
Love the mood and audio. Very sad story.. Nicely done!
I want to try an extended and improved version of this game! Would love for the enemy to not evade or at least not evade all the damn time though... Was a bit boring standing around for 10 turns just triple shooting the same guy :stuck_out_tongue: P.S. 20!!!!!!
One button named Start another named Go. none of which actually seem to start the game, Oh I have to fly around the start button and shoot it..
I generally like the genre combination due to the fact that it really doesn't work but it's still a fun game to play. The sound effects though made me want to destroy my headset..
Surprisingly fun, this is what I would call a hidden gem. You guys really need to rate and review more games so you can get this out there. I could play this for hours.
But there are always some points where I can complain. I feel like there were a bit too many enemies, the grass grew back a little too fast and I didn't feel like the water and seed spread worked very well.
Well done!
Had a blast playing this for a while, it's really fun and would love to see the idea be expanded upon. Would love to see a more polished and feature rich version. I did have som problems with picking the plants before they started attack, there's probably some trick to it but i couldn't figure it out..
I could play this for hours!! Would love an improved combat system and more variation in the scenes. But that's all part of the Ludum Dare curse. Nice game great sound and graphics!
Very laggy and it doesn't look like I'm shooting most of the time while playing. I like the concept and style of the game though so looking forward to seeing what you make in the future!
During this Ludum Dare I have realized that me and my hand really don't like clicker games :-P The game looks good, has a fun theme and plays very well. But the sadly audio is headache inducing noise and has to me muted
You Suck!..
Can't say it's very encouraging to be told I suck by the game during the first 10 seconds of gameplay.. With a lot of polish this game could be a fun addition to the racing genre. Can't say i noticed any other genres in here?
A bit too fast paced for my taste. But I like the idea and theme. The sounds could probably use just a little bit more love to be honest.
I like the combination of genres and the questions are very good, but it's a bit fast. Could possibly be improved with a slower start and a gradual increase in speed.
Nice game. A little boring alone and would benefit from some better graphics and the jumping feels a bit off. might be too slow compared to lateral movement speed.
Love the sounds and art but my arm is dying from all the click.
