it even has a boss. awesome
As others said, it was really satisfying watching them grow, I couldn't stop playing :grinning: Really nice and easy to play, perfect for a game jam.
The more, the merrier. At first I was kind of "eeh" about the art, but it grew me quite fast! Simple & fun, jolly good work on it!
This is so good for releasing stress! loved the art!
the rhythmic chanting of nom was very enjoyable. had to play until the frame rate became unplayable

@markeryjane Thanks for the feedback! I'm not going to guarantee it but I might release an optimsied version relatively soon. Godot has good docs on this topic :)
NOM NOM NOM!
This was great. Really simple, but satisfying to go from running away from the enemies, to devouring them with a large swarm of little dudes.
I thought the game was getting easy until...

My web browser slowed to a crawl, but eventually we prevailed. Overall I enjoyed my time with the game. I would have enjoyed some more enemy variety that made the game a more challenging ramp-up to the boss. Nice job!
(I wish you hadn't opted out of the "Theme" category, I would have rated it a 5!)
Haha nice take on the theme :) quite satisfying indeed to see a swarm destroy everything on your path ^^ Gameplay is a little bit contemplative as it felt quite easy to beat ^^ Maybe a very small mechanic to add difficulty could be a nice to add ? Otherwise the SFX used are perfect, makes the nomsnoms cute and fun :) I really like that B&W&red minimalist graphic style (Downwell ftw), the fluidity of the swarms moving around keeps my brain entertained :p Also for info there might be an issue with html version: Failed to read the 'serviceWorker' property from 'Navigator': Service worker is disabled because the context is sandboxed and lacks the 'allow-same-origin' flag.
Good job, cheers!
@andrewkennedy Oh no! I opted out by accident! Thanks for pointing this out! It should be possible now to cast a vote in "Theme" category.
@knarf Thanks for the feedback. I forgot to test the web version in Chrome. The fix should arrive soon!
@pietmichal all good - I updated my vote!
@knarf The game works on Chrome now.
I loved the absolute chaos of having 100s of them flying all over the screen chomping everything in their path and saying nom in unison. Kind of an awesome experience.
At one point I traveled far enough that I stopped seeing anything, and I wasn't sure if I could make it back. Are the soldiers/corpses generated infinitely in each direction, or do they stop after a certain point? If it's the latter, it might be good to have a barrier of some sort.
@markeryjane A version with optimisation quick fix has been published!
@sudocoffee Thanks for the feedback! I was worried that players might experience that. And I really like your proposed solution! I'm adding this to my post compo version todo list.
i loved the nom sounds! the idea of the creatures orbiting you makes up for nice movement innovation since you have better strategies than just doing circles around enemies
oh, and i love the second game within the game: will my browser crash or proudly recover? spoiler: i underestimated my computer and everything was perfect between lag pikes (honestly that was really funnier than how it sounds)
I imagine how you recorded audio. I love it) Too much lags for me on 3rd or 4th wave.
The sound effects are hilarious. I love that it's actually the title of the game.
Simple and fun... I liked it! I don't think I ever saw this exact type of controls before, either. Messing around with the velocity of the little creatures adds a nice touch ;)
We also had a similar issue with Godot 4.3 web build audio causing memory issues. I just ended up removing a bit of our audio. But I read somewhere that it could be fixed by using .wav instead of .ogg.
Fun game! The third survivor ish game I played after LD56
We just need radar.
Nomnomnom ihihihii! Didn't mind a bit of slowdown, it just made my flock feel more powerful than my PC!
Nice little game ! A progression bar or a scoring would have been great !
Fun game. The audio as great. Gave the Noms a personality.
Nomnom ? Nomnom ! Nomnom ! hihihi ! Nomnom ! Nomnom ! Nomnom ! shpshpshp ! Nomnom ! Nomnom !Nomnom
Hmmm... nomnomnomnom :shallow_pan_of_food: ... this is a dopamine spiker! Gameplay is fun and sounds are reeeeally spot on with the little b\*stards festing = DDD . Also the *hive* feeling is a very fine detail / mechanic! Congrats for that one! Spot on theme too.
You know how this would've become even better? Ofcourse that changes the scope but: turn this into a roguelite: e.g. stronger and stronger waves / bosses (enemies), then some kind of currency to spend on upgrades, upgrades in-between levels or permanent stat upgrades - each replay let's the player reach a bit further. Ofcourse not the scope of 2-3 days, but just a few ideas :P Overall, great execution!
cool yum yum, at the end of the game it's really tough yummmmm yummmmm
NOM NOM NOM! Very fun concept, despite being a bit too easy. The sound design was cute. Controlling a ravenous swarm is a great power fantasy!
The game is just super. I really enjoyed gathering a huge army!)
Cool game, ear did slowly start to bleed after the fighting the boss for a few min
fun one! =D I'd love to se more enemy types to eat >:)
I really liked the nom sounds. Satisfying gameplay, and fun to swarm the enemies!
Quite satisfying controlling a swarm! Wasn't sure there was an end game as I struggled to find more enemies after a while but after checking the comments I hunted the big guy down. Fps definitely dropped by the end but maybe that's just the web build.
Simple and fun! Great sfx, and very satisfying gameplay.
