No links? Ping me when that's sorted please
Yeah sorry @maxem4ek and @thatsommes I was setting up the game page and must have published it, first time mb
Adding myself to the ping group, let me know when the game is available.
Cover image looks nice. Would like to try it
Frogs are my favorite animals, I was excited for this to play. Please let me know when it's up! :)
I'm invested now, this game is being pushed upward by people commenting the game isn't there yet :p Seems to me the "karma-system" needs an overhaul? :D Either way, I'll be waiting !
@javasaurus I suppose they post many updates in feed, still wonder how does the buzz score work :P
where is the game?
@zeroblaster21 I ask myself this too :pensive:
No Link
@maxem4ek @iluvatar @coderaurus @immortalfox @iluvatar @javasaurus @zeroblaster21 @alexrak2 Here's the game all, terribly balanced but functional :raised_hands:
Great entry, changed my life. Theme 1 star.
Such a relaxing song for a bullet hell! 😅 I like the idea, but it still requires some tweaking around, the powerups are just some towers that spawn randomly on the map, i'd have rather had some power ups that affect the character's shot. Love the froggis tho!
Very nice game, cute art, wizard tower OP
cool graphics)
cute frogs! I like them! A ombination of tower defense and vampire survivors, it's a lot of fun anyway. Good Job!
I like the graphics. Gameplay wise it is quite rough. I would've loved to see the difference in towers, not just arrows and arrows, as well what the different towers do to make educated choices.
I barely heard the music in the background but once I did it was a pleasant tune.
I found that your score and health (at least in UI) do not reset after starting a new game.
Good work.
@coderaurus yeah ngl I got caught up with doing the UI way too much, but lesson learnt for next time
This game was somewhat fun. I liked the cute little frog. The art is adoring and lovable. I wish you did have time to tune the game properly. Arrows are slow as snails. Towers appear at random and seem like they don't work as planned. My score was 86400. I've spent quite some time playing the game.
The art is adorable, and the music is nice. The frog customization at the start is a great idea—it helps you grow more attached to your character. The concept is interesting, but unfortunately it lacks balance or perhaps explanation. The projectiles are very slow, which makes it hard to clear waves of enemies. I also didn’t really understand the differences between the various towers.
Beautigul game. Took me a while to understand what i should do. Some tooltips on tower would be nice. At first i thought they were some kind of upgrades
Came for the froggos, stayed for that lovely UI artwork. This is one of those games you wish devs would keep on working on, this has a lot of potential and I enjoyed it so far!
Played and voted ♥
Pleasant graphics and background music! Looks like a first prototype with great potential.
Really nice visuals, but sadly not the most fun survivors-like. I'm not convinced by the build selections being visual only, takes away the interesting deciion making when you're just guessing.
The visuals are really nice. A full tower defense in the 2.5D perspective with a cozy art style like this would be really nice! I think you should tilt the sprites back a little to face the camera more and be less perpendicular to the ground so we can see the nice art better!
Cheers :v:
I'd love to play this game, but the HTML build on the Ludum Dare site isn't loading for me across any of my devices. Is this an issue you're seeing as well, or is it just me somehow?
@sam-gorman I can seem to play it fine on Firefox on PC so not sure what's going on sorry
Good idea with the tilt @braeden I'll give it a go and see how it looks :raised_hands:
@lordsheo I’m on Chrome so that may be it. I’ll give Firefox a try later.
Worked on Firefox!
I really like the art style and music. It's a bit Paper Mario maybe, but to me the vibes are a lot more like Bug Fables if you've played that. I like the combo of genres here - taking the towers/turrets from tower defence games and using them in a more open setting where you get to join the action yourself is pretty cool.
I felt that the execution lacked some clarity and depth, though. You don't get to place the towers yourself - they just appear randomly on the far edges of the map. At first I thought the upgrade system wasn't working at all, so that could be better communicated to the player. Even so, spawning the towers like this removes any strategy element from the game.
The combat was also a little tedious. There's only one type of enemy and they take forever to kill, even when under attack by you and surrounded by several towers. I would probably make you - and especially the towers - deal more damage. I would also suggest adding more variety in enemy types/attacks, and also varying the way your own towers attack. It would be more exciting for the player if there are a wider variety of interesting things to do that are always changing up.
Overall, good work! I haven't played your post-jam version yet, so it's possible you've addressed some/all of my suggestions in that already. I'm looking forward to giving it a try.
The graphics are nice and cute, but the game is very unfinished. But it's okay for the first time. Maybe it's better to move the game to the Extra category?
Nice start, already wanna play in full game ^_^
The embedded version wouldn't start for me on Chrome, but as the comments suggested, it did work in Firefox.
I had quite some fun with it, but I wish there was something to do later on, or some goal to work towards - I've had a score of about 540k, at which point new towers were offered once every blue moon (I think my last two were around 300k and then 500k), and it didn't make sense to keep going. I wish there was some strategic depth to selecting updates, currently the most you can do is hope for a lucky spawn and herd the enemies to tower-dense areas, and just keep kiting / running in circles forever. With some more things to do, and an increasing difficulty level, this could become a very nice tower defense / zombie survivor hybrid.
@amolker I probably could add it to the extras category since I've continued to work on it but I'm still pretty proud of the initial jam submission and am happy for it to stay there, thanks for the suggestion though :raised_hands:
The frogs are ADORABLE!!! And there’s a good variety of them and of towers, and the gameplay works well. The thing that bothered me the most was the simplicity of the environment — after seeing that magnifique menu art, it feels a bit underwhelming. Anyway, I loved the game! Well done!
(I'll rate based on the jam version but comment based on the post-jam version)
Really enjoyed this, super peaceful lil Brotato-like. Vibe is spot on, love the lil twirl they do when they jump.
Map could be smaller IMO as there's a lot of empty space that doesn't really get filled till the endgame.
Bogart my beloved
@poboy thanks for checkin out the post-jam game as well, glad you enjoyed!
Brotato was actually one of my inspirations for the game! Also the jump twirl was supposed to be temporary because I couldn't figure out what to make the jump animation but then forgot to change it
The comment is based on post-jam version. The game is really nicely done. The graphics, the animations make a fantastic vibe, and, of course, the frogs <3 Love that! The jam version unfrotunately didn't work properly - the towers didn't shoot at all, which was a bit puzzling as to why I have to choose anything :D However, you've made it shine really nicely! Great job!
