Great game! It was first of course difficult to understand how to play but I spawned some minions to fight. Not sure how to spawn different ones but I was able to forfeit with meat...

ikuta 2024-04-15 19:47

Hey, great game! I'm particularly impressed by the graphics, especially the landscape. It would be cool to introduce more interactive elements while the minions are fighting, perhaps like casting spells from a tower or the castle.

One small bug I noticed is that draggable items can inadvertently click on buttons, which can be especially annoying for the "surrender" button.

Interesting game. i like the mechanics, it was hard to understand initially what they wanted me to do. but the idea that you can lose if you throw an item at the red button is unusual. This game could evolve into something more I suppose.

Fun to play, but a bit difficult with the spikes and summoning. Nice job though!

dreamteck 2024-04-16 15:54

The fact that some physics is applyed to the items is a very good thing! I really enjoyed the game

dotiocat 2024-04-16 16:01

I really like this game, it has just enough polish and enough silly janky controls that it's really enjoyable to play. I do feel like you might get a bit too much meat, but the inventory managing and the visuals for when you summon minions are very pretty. The only small shame is the lack of variety in what is fighting what, and if there is one thing I'd want improved or added it's definitely that, doesn't even have to be anything special some different shapes like a triangle minion or circle would be great! Thank you for making it.

I love how you included a tutorial and way to skip it when doing repeat playthroughs. The tutorial was funny, too. I did get confused about raising the spikes at first. I tried clicking that button a few times, and it didn't seem to do anything. Later I dropped an item on it, and the spikes were raised as long as the item was resting on it. So now I thought you had to place items on the button to weigh it down in order to use it. Took me a bit to realize you need to hold the button down. With the items having collision like this, I ran into some problems because they were pushing each other off the summoning tiles, and also pressing the forfeit button constantly. When I would go to take items from my bag to place them on the circle, they would collide with other items in the bag, knock them into the forfeit button, and everything would flash and alarm. Then I'd drag them into the circle and they'd knock my other summoning items off their places. I would have liked it better if items didn't collide with each other or buttons. But I did give it another shot once I understood the mechanics better. I do love some tower defense :)

The meta difficulty of objects bumping into each other and pressing on the forfeit button adds a cool extra dimension to the game. And it's very funny. This is surprisingly polished as well! GJ It is super hard tho.

pseudonclide 2024-04-16 16:03

Nice game, with good graphics and music!:) I found it hard resist the load of enemies with the spikes when I waited for more meat and knives. And hat panic when you unintendedly surrender XD ... What? me? No! Of course never unintendedly surrendered by dropping my meat on my way to the altal.. never!

zippry 2024-04-16 16:04

Awesome game, impressive sound and artwork with a simple but fun concept. I think the raise spikes wasnt working. My one complaint is I found myself dragging items as fast as I could instead of paying much attention to the battles. All in all it was really cool and I had a great time with it.

calvin 2024-04-16 16:06

I loved this game! I ts so fun when you end up going into a mad panic and then you accidentally flick some meat on the surrender button or you accidentally create a bomb guy who blows up all your other units. Great work!

subzerofusion 2024-04-16 16:26

@tykki19 you managed to play the game an hour before I pushed a change to add a tutorial, as well as tooltips to show what each of the ingredients do.

subzerofusion 2024-04-16 16:28

@ikuta it actually took effort to program in the bug, all the things your mouse can interact with, things in the game can also interact with as well. Inventory items will even sit on top of the minions. The idea was for the game to get progressively more chaotic, forcing you to weigh up the risks of just using a single item to wipe everything into the alter to summon something, anything, to prevent the massive forfeit button from being pushed by your messy inventory.

subzerofusion 2024-04-16 16:29

@dotiocat we just ran out of time really, I would've really liked to have had more polished enemy waves, but it was only really me working in the last 12 hours before submission, so it was tuned to the best of my ability to still be engaging with what we had

subzerofusion 2024-04-16 16:33

@amberfall92 It was very much designed to be a game jam game which would be fun while the user played it the first few times. The game gets progressively more chaotic as the enemies become more plentiful and start dropping more things into your inventory. The alter will combine everything in the alter screen into a dude, meaning all the garbage swept into it will get integrated. Up until adding the bombs, there was really no incentive to be careful with how you summoned your minion. You can also hold down the alter receptacles using your mouse. I had wanted this to create a minion who would hijack your cursor until they died, but I didn't have time to do that either.

subzerofusion 2024-04-16 16:35

@pseudonclide Perfect! XD I added the spikes to give the player an incentive to throw an item on top of the button to have some form of defense, but also a thing that the player needed to keep track of because it would hurt your own units as well. It evolved into a mechanic for gaining resources if you ended up getting team wiped

pseudonclide 2024-04-16 17:13

@subzerofusion nicely done :wink:

kirass 2024-04-16 23:28

You are really great! The game turned out great!

wigglypainter 2024-04-17 02:00

lol I like the "do not press" button idea, I found you can just put stuff on the spike button then you wouldn't need to click it any more 😂 Great game!

thatsommes 2024-04-19 17:11

Very fun, enjoyed the mixing to make different minions, my best game was ended by me accidentally pushing a piece of meat onto the "do not press" button....

alec 2024-04-19 17:46

I really enjoyed the pixel art, especially how the items spun around when you grabbed them. Like others I was confused by what caused forfeits. Though I wanted to keep trying different item combinations to see what I would summon!

pirey 2024-04-19 18:04

Screenshot 2024-04-19 200045.png Really enjoyed it, i'm a big fan of the forfeit button! Also really like the addition that the items can press the spikes button too! I wish i could get a horse-character by using the horse though...

subzerofusion 2024-04-19 19:44

@alec the forfeit button can be pressed by items that are pushed out the bottom of your inventory (or by holding it down with your mouse) everything in the game that you can interact with using your mouse, you can do with an item. Even the altar recepticals can be triggered by clicking and holding. I was going to make it such that if you did that tho, it would spawn a dude with your mouse embedded in it, and it would only return your mouse once the dude died lol.

subzerofusion 2024-04-19 19:46

@pirey we just kinda ran out of time for horsey :( he was part of the item sprite sheet that our artist made and we thought it was too cute not to at least add it in. The sprite sheet also contained a magic tome, staff, and armor.

chybby 2024-04-21 14:21

Game looks great and I really like the concept. I feel like it would have been better with some more time between groups of enemies just so I have some time to actually read the tooltips of the items and plan what I want to summon instead of frantically dragging the whole time.

justcamh 2024-04-22 15:30

Man I was unprepared for how awesome this game turned out to be! It was difficult to figure everything out, and I certainly wouldn’t have understood it without your guidance, I think the tutorial needs to go more in depth about how the summoning works. But hot damn is it funny that items could weigh down buttons, and I love how that was both good at times but also very bad! Outstanding mechanic!
