Loved this game! haha graphics and mood were spot on!
Nice little game, though it crashed when I tried to find more citizens. Otherwise the theme is cool, the game is fun, and the aesthetic is neat.
My only other complaint is that, while it's thematically fitting and quite awesome, the text is hard to read with all the V-s.
@trenchcoat-phoenix Thank you, Yes it has a bug where it can randomly crash after a short time playing. Will try to fix the bug later today.
cool game , i like the game play , but the game crashes when i play three times in a row .
The game is amazing, love the theme and the tactical feeling.
The idea is really unique and I like the style of the game. But the clicking got really exhausting over the time. And the game crashed often. If you put some work in it you could even publish it as a full game.
Looks very promising and appears to be funny, but sadly unplayable atm because of the mentioned bug 😒 would probably have given a fun-rating of 4.5 or 5 otherwise
Really cool concept, but the randomness is horrible ! I had to play three time to have a decent place, and in the other case, a case of lava poped just next to me, so I could not do anything. And when I managed to help this poor guy, the game crashed ^^'
So hope you will fix this bug ^^' Keep coding :)
@mathiouza Hehe thank you! The randomness is amazing :-P Sometimes you can just walk right out, other times you're very lucky and can walk for a long time only to have the exit you were aiming for flooded by lava :-D And that damn bug was not there 5 minutes before release...
@trenchcoat-phoenix @freetomax @rother-games @kruemelkeksfan @mathiouza The game breaking bug should be removed now (At least for me so far :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: ) So if you want to try the game again that would be awesome!
@thatsommes , ok thank i think i gonna play a bit longer this time , and try to go as far as possible in the game XD
@freetomax (please don't crash.. please don't crash... please don't crash..!!)
I think there is another bug. The game crashed when I clicked continue in the shop.
Nice and unique game!
If you change the way you control citizens (Like using the arrow keys) it would be a little easier to control. Other than that, great aesthetics and fun concept. Nicely done!
I like the concept, but I feel the feedback loop for the beginning of the game should be a bit tighter, I had to play 3 games (1 rescue, 2 deaths) before I could afford anything and unfortunately I hit a bug where the continue button wouldn't work. And the controls feel a bit grindy, if you could tighten those up you could have something really special in your hands.
Nice little game ! Very original !
A very nice little game, but the randomness of the lava kinda ruined it abit for me, there could be small patches that tell you how long before the lava pops out, or maybe which direction it might come in, but it has quite some potential.
The game also crashes somewhat, and the lack of a tutorial meant I was abit confused with the controls (I was ok tho).
Overall, not bad and can be expanded upon, good job.
Reaching one of the exists of the level is close to impossible with only one movement point, and it takes too much time to gaining points by dying repeatedly (I tried like half a dozen times, and got sick of it pretty quickly) (or maybe it's just me being unlucky with the lava pop?).
The controls are not intuitive, mainly because your character is not visible at first glance (even when I saw it didn't feel like I should click on it), and because the text boxes are too small.
The background is even less intuitive, I had to try to go on every type of tile to understand wich ones I can go on.
Last but not least, the game crashed after at the end of a run.
The few things I liked:
Menu animation is pretty cool!
My favorite touch was the roman-like font, really great idea, it gives personality to the game.
Sorry for the bad comments, I hope it will help! Feel free to trash my game in return ;)
@cydouzo & @darylsteak Thank you for your extensive reviews! It's a big help going forward in our respective careers!
I like this game. The music is great. The gameplay and concept is really fun. Unfortunately, the game crashed on me after the third stage.
Alright, I like the basis of the game. The idea is cool, the graphics and sounds work well, and there is potential. Your biggest flaw is game balance and general game design. The game isn't really a game, because there's no strategy involved. My only job is to find the shortest path to the exit and hope lava doesn't randomly appear in front of me or cover the exit. What if you made the lava only spread out a certain distance. When a lava pop reaches the maximum distance it stops spreading. This can be visually represented by a darkened color. And what if you gave each character a bucket which could be used once each level to clear a line in front of the character. That way, if you use the bucket on a lava pop which has stopped spreading, you can get past it, but if you wait too long other lava pops will reach you from behind. That would give the game more of a strategy element.
The characters are difficult to spot. Give them a color that stands out from the rest of the game.
It's annoying that I have to manually select each tile. Try to do some research on pathfinding, either the Dijkstra's algorithm (easy to implement but not very optimal) or the A-star algorhitm (better performance but a bit difficult to implement). That way you can click on where you want the character to go, and he would find the fastest path himself. The youtube channel Quill18creates has a good pathfinding tutorial if you're interested.
Oh, and the game crashed after a few levels when I loaded a new level.
I like the concept a lot. It was fun to play. I especially like the puzzel-y gameplay, I can actually see myself playing something like this while waiting for a train. :trophy: Good job
