The game is funny to play, but it goes crazy veeery fast, there were so much enemies on screen that I couldn't see where I was, still, it didn't matter since I only had to spam space to grow the playground size.

However the thing I like is the amount of particles on screen, it felt great having those feedbacks, it felt like I was really destroying things and that's so cool!

juke-games 2018-08-14 20:20

I totally agree with @saering! But I'd have add that resetteing the walls after you die wiuld be helpful. Anyways congrats on finishing this game!

neowhoru 2018-08-14 21:09

Thank you both for your Feedback :) Well i think i should tweak it a little bit more.

I agree with the previous comments in that the speed in which the walls converge is pretty fast. I also felt like the controls weren't as tight as I wanted them to be, and I found myself accidentally strafing into the walls.

On the plus side I really liked the music and the retro theme. It all felt quite nostalgic. I could definitely see this becoming a multi-stage game in the future!

neowhoru 2018-08-15 21:18

Thank you @djaack - well it was planned as a Game with multiple waves of "levels". I think this will come in the future.

timbals 2018-08-15 21:35

Congrats on finishing the game. The controls felt really weird. There seem to be quite a few bugs with the walls. You can easily get through them and the game will go on forver.

skas 2018-08-15 21:35

Hey really love the sound and pixel art of it. I agree, the time to converge should be more, but i find it quite addictive.

Congrats on getting it done on short amount of time. I couldnt get my multiplayer game as polished, but would love to have people check it out

Fun game, would love to see walls reset after death and some sort of (bigger if it's already in place) minimum distance between the player and alien spawns.

robo-chiz 2018-08-15 21:38

Pretty nifty idea for the theme. I liked the general premise. Feel like it could do with a little polish. The controls felt stiff for me, and my screen was basically filled with aliens by the end.

Keep at it! Awesome work :D

I loooved the main menu music. It's so punchy and crunchy I got a big old retro tear! This game has very good feel to it. The only problem for me were stiff controlls. But overall it's good

mrsylar59 2018-08-15 21:42

Nice take on the theme. I liked the way the game felt, however it does get crowded very quickly up to a point where I wasn't able to distinguish what was going on on screen. The fact that the music seems to not loop makes the game really dull when it stops. Also when you're shooting and die right after the sound of your pistol abruptly stops which gives some strange audio effects. Overall nice entry :)

Nice game ! Like others said, the wall are getting close to you a bit too fast. Being able to shoot in other directions independantly of your orientation would make the game a lot easier and enjoyable, especially with so many ennemies. However, killing them was really satisfying, with nice visual and audio feedback. Good job !

dragojt 2018-08-16 14:00

Particles are pretty satisfying, but I think that if they were smaller it would like more smooth. Pixel art is good but the game is so hard, hehe. Also, the main theme is nice to listen to.

Good job!

neowhoru 2018-08-16 15:12

Thank you for your comments. As ran out of time(I am on vacation so i did it in 12 hours or something) i couldnt improve the controls. But i try my best to improve it in the next release.

boyturnedrobot 2018-08-16 18:22

Played the html version and after I died and got a game over I was still able to run around shooting in the walls. Also, When I reloaded the paged and played again I was having trouble controlling the player. I loved the art and style of the game and the arcade feel. I'd like to play again once you iron out the control bugs. Good work.

neowhoru 2018-08-16 19:35

@boyturnedrobot thank you :) yeah i must try if i can upload a bugfixed version (Windows has that but web deployment had some cache issues when building and had an older state...really weired issue that i couldn't solved by the deadline).

mouthlessgames 2018-08-16 21:21

Wow, pretty damn hard not to die in this game.^^ The music was superb, really fits the pixel art style of the game - and I love this kind of chiptunes. I tried to shoot backwards all the time - like shooting into the inverse walking direction. Did not work though.^^ Respect for achieving the game, well done

neowhoru 2018-08-16 21:36

haha thanks @frittatenbank - the music (as often said here) is not by me (thats why i opt out the category) but i thought that it fits the game (its from opengameart a publich domain soundtrack).

aguahervida 2018-08-16 22:16

The game is fun, and one could say is complete, the mechanics seems great, although a bit accelerated, the shot also seems a little loose and unfair, the music is great for the game, takes you to a space place immediately, the art also looks good, nothing very detailed, but nothing very simple either. The particles when enemies are destroyed add a lot of detail to the game, it makes it feels better. I think the space could open a little more when the player hit the aliens, and, once again, shooting is difficult in this game, maybe if you shoot in the direction of the mouse it would be better, or if you could at least shoot vertically, the walls seem to kill without you touching them and the movement feels a bit too rough. The details look beautiful, the score, the intro, the little message below that says ludum dare 42, this just feels like add some awareness that this was made with love. Above all it seems like it can be a better game if you give more space to the mechanics to grow, good work and congratulations for taking something like this by yourself.

I think there might be a problem with spawnrate in Web version.

First there is only one alien floating next to wall so it was hard to kill. Almost got squashed between walls.

Then next thing I know is the room is full of aliens and you don't have to aim to hit one. Though you almost constantly get eaten, but respawning and shooting is the same button so you don't understand what is happening.

Still an interesting concept,

afendar 2018-08-21 19:29

The game is nice, a little complicated but after a few tries, the grip is simpler. Particles add a little something. However, if they were a little smaller, it would be less embarrassing. The music is pretty funny. Congratulations on your work and continue well!

philstrahl 2018-08-28 21:56

Congrats on the game, but apparently I had a bug with the controls and it just wasn't a lot of fun for me, as evidenced in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLytdAQ0Ig4

neowhoru 2018-09-01 09:08

@philstrahl thank you for playing ;) It is good to know what went wrong (and to make it better next time :))

2018-09-11 13:44

Very challenging game! I included it in my compilation video series of the Ludum Dare 42 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/tG45WDfIQds
