Hah, fun to figure this one out :D there is a winning strategy that will win everytime without having to think. Also I was a bit confused at first, because you can move a corner card to the center but cannot jump corner cards to the other side.
@frib Thanks for playing! I probably need better instructions, because you can jump corner cards to the other corners, as long as you are jumping over a card of equal or lesser rank.

It wasn't clear if Aces were high or low, apparently low?
I had a queen in the center with an Ace ready to jump it, but then got the no more moves message.Good intrepretation of the theme!
Wow. I'm so jealous. I've wanted to make a card game again for ages. This is so well done. It's polished. The cards all look great. The gameplay is simple yet has strategy to it. There's honestly nothing I can criticise about what's there. And echoing what others have said it's a very interesting take on the theme aswell.
If I had to be harsh I would criticise what isn't. Having some sound effects for picking up and placing the cards would've definitely helped complete the experience but honestly this is very professionally done. It's the kind of game I wouldn't be surprised to see on steam or the app store. With a bit of post dare love there's definitely a releasable game here.
Really fun game. I seldom see people making breakthrough on the poker cards in a gamejam, and you did it. I am so impressive by your idea, keep trying!

The idea of the card game is really great, but currently, it seems like the gameplay mainly involves continuously placing cards with lower numbers from the cross-shaped area to the center. It feels like it's lacking a bit of challenge. Adding some new restrictions might make the game more enjoyable.
@frib Ah, yea - no diagonal moves. I was already having a hard time coming up with restrictions to make it more challenging.
@somewan I agree. It feels too easy. You only really lose if you aren't paying attention. I was having a hard time coming up with restrictions that would still allow the game to be winnable.

The game design is full of creativity and perfectly captures the theme.
However, I seem to have found a loophole where having a K is equivalent to an instant win. Because you can repeatedly use K jump over others until clear the deck.
Perhaps there could be some way to balance the power of high-value cards. For example, every time use a card, the card value will increase one or increase value of the card be jumped, increase the K will loop back to A. This would ensure that high-value card are not always overpowered. Just some unverified ideas, hope they can be helpful to you.
Overall I think the game is great an you've done a nice job!
@nilan That sounds like an interesting idea, thanks for the feedback! In hindsight, I should have tried to get more feedback early on to figure out how I could make it more challenging.
Really cool game, didn't expect to find a card game like this in the jam submissions!
I noticed the same issue with the previous commenter, and found that as soon as I got a King, it was an easy game to win. My suggestion for how to potentially fix this would be to remove the rule where cards of equal value can jump each other, and have aces be able to jump kings.
But yeah aside from that, very neat application of the theme!
Nice game, i like any cards game, but this game different from all the ones I've played, well work.
On the money with the theme. I could seriously play this for hours. Except for the fact that the king trumps everything and could just jump around to remove all other cards

Always love seeing a solitaire game. It's a bit easy once you figure out the trick, but works for a game jam game where you only play the game once or twice.

I don't understand the rules or the goal.
I took me a few tries to get the hang of it, but when I did it was fun. I don't know if I'm going to be playing this for hours, but it's definitely enjoyable for a bit :)

It was nice to see a game made using traditional cards. I forgot the "of equal or lesser value" rule on my first playthrough and figured I had a game over because a king couldn't jump a king. That was on me for not paying attention to the rule. But it begs the question is it possible to lose this game?
I've also discovered K's sure-fire strategy. In fact unless all four k's are in all four corners. Otherwise it is always possible to get K's by constantly swapping side decks. Your idea is great and the game is well done. Designing a card game from scratch can be very challenging especially with its simple rules. I can understand the challenges you face. There's one bug but it's pretty good.
