Best game I've played yet. This is just really fun and had me laughing. Doesn't really fit the theme too well, but good job nonetheless.

Oh man, Christmas spirit is out in force with this one. I loved mechanics but there is a little cheat you can do to make it easier: just go backwards and you don't spin out. Great work!

Great mood, very funny. Things I learned:
1. I drive like shit. 2. Everyone else drives worse. 3. Cars are surprisingly explosive.
It's always a good laugh when AI cars crash into each other a blow up. The game was pretty fun.
Tried to play it straight before i just went full xmas shopping rage and rammed cars. Was satisfying.
Rainbow Booster is a winner. Top score of 6! Nicely done, this is a well polished package.
Very fun game! The sounds and graphics are both very fitting to the gameplay. Eventually you start feeling like a ninja, barely scraping past cars as you make the perfect drift into a parking bay, then you hit the car in front and you explode. I think that the title screen is a little static, but you barely spend any time there so it's no big deal. Great game!
This is good! It's silly and fun to just bash into things with the rainbow booster. Love the mood. Not reallllyy sure where the theme fits, but it's still a fun and entertaining game. Lighthearted and feel-good. ^-^

Well the nice thing is that you don't even have to go into the store since you found all the gifts in the parking lot.
A fun, simple game with holiday cheer. I enjoyed playing it. The rainbow boost was a nice touch. I can vaguely understand how this fits the theme, but I do think it's a bit of a stretch. Great job though overall. The game is fun.

This is a simple and fun little car physic game. The graphics is good and music gives a fun and cozy atmosphere to the game. The only real complain is, that it is beat difficult to see which one of the cars you are driving. Overall well done.

Hilarious Christmas rage simulator! Nice graphics, atmosphere and it feels really polished for a compo entry. One thing which confuses me a little - when I'm driving backwards, controls are inverted - I would expect to turn left when I'm pressing right during movement back. But all in all great job!

At first I thought "Although it's hard enough as it is, it still feels like the car comes to a stop too suddenly. I've no suggestion as to what could be done about it without making it harder though." I'm not sure what I was supposed to do, but the driving and crashing and rainbows was very satisfying. The music and sounds were very enjoyable with the season-y theme. Oddly addicting and fun!

This is a really fun game! I just love how the collision sounds line up with the music. It would be even better if there was some honking going on too. I finally managed to collect all 7 gift boxes without blowing up, but nothing happened. If the AI driving would have gotten even worse with every gift you picked up it would have easily fit the theme too. As is it seems a bit hard to connect to the theme.

Thank you all so much for the comments and feedback! Sadly there wasn't enough time to complete the entire game goal and I am happy to announce that I will be spending the rest of December to polish up and implement the games objectives, enhance the AI, and create larger maps w/ more things to interact with.
Some have asked how the current game relates to the theme. The original design had the parking lots fill up more over time as you tried to finish various objectives such as parking in specific spots, collecting items, and clearing the road of debris. This is the vision for the game I will complete this month.
Cool game, didn't appreciate how the other cars don't slow down when you drive in front of them. Some proper AI could benifit the game imo.
Had me laughing all the way through, so chaotic and very fun! I did feel like the controls were a tad too hard though, it could have been a bit better, it didn't feel very responsive to me. Overall great game!

@danvil made a good point about the music as it's actually against the compo rules to use pre-made art/sound content like Kevin Mcleod's music unless it has been used to create significantly derivative work. Even without music though this is great.
Lovely entry! I like the christmas setting - i did a christmas like game too :) Concept is well known and a very fun to play. Thing i don't like is the sluggish movement of the car if the speed is near zero. I do know that "in the real" world it is like that, but i feel a bit loose of control of my car if things are getting real tight :smile: Overall it is a very nice entry and will make it in the top 15, i guess...
I enjoyed the graphics and the drifting was fun. Those AI cars are ruthless! I found myself slowly pushing through the parking lot spaces rather than taking the more dangerous roads. I got to 7 presents eventually. Thanks for making it!
reminded me a web game I used to play years ago about parking cars, great job!
Who knew a game about parking cars could be fun? not me but it is. The icy roads and lack of maneuverability, acceleration and deceleration made it pretty frustrating and difficult to avoid collisions. I'd prefer to start on an easier less icy level. Overall however a jolly good jam game!
This game is very fun and well made.
Pros: -Genuinely silly in a way that makes me smile -Good controls (although I wish I had used an xbox controller) -Good level design (with the active streets on either side)
Cons: -Not sure how it fits the theme-- maybe the more presents you have more cars start actively chasing you?
Comments -The optimal strategy seems to be caution, while my main instinct was to ram stuff. Maybe work some more precision parking in there if your goal is to incentivise skill and caution (which it seems to be with the way the health meter and collision works)
-Is there a win state? I got 7 presents and I don't see anymore.
- Put just a row of snowmen somewhere, they are fun to hit.

Fun game that put me right in the Christmas mood (for better or worse). It took a while to master but I finally got the seven gifts. Too bad that there's nothing after that.
Glad I finally found the time to give it a shot! I was in fits of laughter when other cars would slam into the parked cars in the lot. The goal wasn't 100% clear, after picking up all the presents I could see what was I mean to do next? Aesthetically, this game was really consistent and felt like a believable christmas-y space. Great work!

On my first try I had issues finding where was my car, this is asking for the "car unlock" lights and sound effects from modern cars :sweat_smile:
Now seriously, I've had a lot of fun playing. Controls work well, and while the bump detection was oversensitive at times the gameplay felt very solid overall. All the chaos with the other cars mimicked the Christmas shopping rush perfectly, which was a brilliant touch combined with the Xmas music.

Very nice, but I had some issues with the car have a collider that was larger than the car itself. Also, the cars handling feels a bit strange, none the less, good job!

Really like the idea and the driving mechanics. The car is a little difficult to handle but I suppose that's the point of the game :)
If there is one thing I would do is figure out a way to fit the theme more, and maybe add some more depth to the game.

Fun game that evokes memories of playing tons of flash games about 10 or so years ago. Didn't run very well in my browser though with lots of slowdown... Felt polished and satisfying!

Congratulations on putting together an enjoyable game out of something I'm very much not looking forward too with the upcoming season. It did take me a while to figure out I was supposed to be collecting all the presents, not trying to fit neatly into a parking space before anyone else, but that is a very minor complaint in the overall scheme of things. Good work providing both keyboard and controller options too!

This game was interesting. However, I wish that some visual cues were added to indicate what car is yours since I was confused for over a minute what car I was driving. Though there was some ideas in the game that didn't make sense(like why are cars crashing into you instead of stopping and why are there gifts in parking spots), the execution was done so well that I didn't care about how realistic the game was. Finally, I liked the humorous mood in the game, especially the main menu's music.
The fun of grabbing presents and parking has never been so enjoyable. Liked how all the drivers were doing there own thing and didn't care what you were doing, made it harder where you always had to think about what the drivers around you were doing.

The controls when going backwards felt reversed to me, an "invert X axis when going backwards" option would have been helpful.
@LeviDSmith Huh, I double-checked and you're right, only the jam allows you to use pre-existing assets and then opt out of the corresponding category. Any idea why? My previous understanding of the rules was that there are many categories, plus a 9th category "compo", and you have to opt out of the categories for which you don't qualify: you have to opt-out of the music category if you use pre-existing music, you have to opt-out of the graphics category if you use pre-existing images, and you have to opt-out of the "compo" category if you collaborate with others or take more than 48h (but less than 72h). That made sense. The actual rules, in which you also have to opt-out of the compo if you don't qualify for any of the _other_ 8 categories, doesn't make much sense to me, can you explain the rationale behind it? Am I allowed to submit to the compo and to opt-out of the music category if my game has no music at all?
The idea is excellent. I love how everyone drives any old how :p I got the 7 gifts too, but nothing said if I won or not.
For the "Compo" entry while the music was made by someone else, it's an real interesting question. Is it enough to not being able to vote for the Music category ? I think the only people who can answer that question are the organizers themselves.
Hahaha great. The controls were tricky but that's kind of what made it fun, slipping and sliding around! Great submission, nice graphics and really quite polished.
