LD36 — Ancient Technology

Imphenzia_AncientTechToReturn by imphenzia 2016-08-31T17:49:00

I really loved the style! The colors were bright and happy, but not overly saturated, and the main character looked nice and peppy with a spring in his step. The low-poly models worked really nicely. My kids and I enjoyed going around and trying to remember where we put stuff. The game really made me want to explore; well done!

One time a box spawned too close to a tree so I couldn't open it (just restarted to get a new placement), but otherwise the game worked very nicely.

Holiday Parking Panic! by FormalCloud 2017-12-05T23:42:31Z

I enjoyed the graphics and the drifting was fun. Those AI cars are ruthless! I found myself slowly pushing through the parking lot spaces rather than taking the more dangerous roads. I got to 7 presents eventually. Thanks for making it!

Pico Golf by Too 2017-12-05T23:15:29Z

I really enjoyed this game, especially the retro feel. The ball got stuck outside the walls a few times, but it didn't stop me from having a fun time. I didn't understand that the coins were bad for your score at first, but after I realized, it made the game even more fun. Thanks for making it!

Life's A Glitch by gamepopper 2017-12-05T20:40:24Z

I liked the sound effects and retro style; the gun sound especially sounded nice. At first, I mostly forgot about the gun and just tried to get the boxes, but I ended up staying on one half of the screen and getting the boxes there while shooting constantly at the other side of the screen which was overrun with glitches. On my best run I survived for between 4 and 5 minutes. I noticed that after one minute the timer has a bug that shows a:.bc where "a" is the number of current minutes, "b" is the number of seconds in "a" minutes, and "c" is the current milliseconds - so you couldn't actually see how many current seconds there were. The character moved really fast and I lost a lot from just falling off the edge at the beginning, but I got the hang of it after a while. It was really fun; thanks for making it!

Piggle Puzzle by fractalsunrise 2017-12-05T13:06:04Z

@burgee: Oh my; that's definitely not how we designed it! I'm not sure what the issue is (we couldn't reproduce it), but we did get a web build posted [here](http://fractalsunrise.com/games/piggle-puzzle/web/); that may work better for you.

Update: Great; I'm glad it worked. Thanks for the feedback!

I didn't know we still had that by Papaver 2017-12-05T23:55:48Z

It was a lot of fun; I especially like the characters. The sound effects were spot on! Thanks for making it!

Fluffy Space Escape by potatolain 2017-12-05T21:19:22Z

I love the fact that you made an NES ROM; makes me want to get a PowerPak! The puzzles were good, and it was fun to play; thanks for making it!

Power Surge by Mettra 2017-12-05T17:34:59Z

I liked how well-made this game feels; the graphics, audio, and mechanics all work well together. It was really fun! I liked how there were lots of choices in how to upgrade, and there were a nice variety of upgrades. The balance between running away, shooting, and upgrading was done really well. I didn't really use the upgrades menu much; instead I just tried to avoid the ones I didn't want. I got beat the last wave after 6 or 7 tries, and ended up favoring 1x wide beam, 3x damage, and 1x multi shot. I tended to stay on the edges of the map running between corners. Thanks for making it!

Critter Clutter by Burgee 2017-12-06T02:56:28Z

I really liked all the little creatures and their hubub noises! My mouse hand hurt after a while, but it was still really fun. Thanks for making it!

Manystar by alexfalkenberg 2017-12-06T02:31:47Z

That's really great for just 12 hours of feeling sick! It was fun to play with; the red ships seemed to have so much personality. Thanks for making it!

APOLLO v-1.0 by grey 2017-12-05T20:08:53Z

It was fun! The floaty controls made it a lot more slow and calculating than I expected, but it was fitting for space. I was really bad at it with my left hand, so I moved my right hand over to WAD and it was much easier for me after that. I actually found that the beginning where the ship was lightest was pretty hard, then after getting a few points it was at a sweet spot, then it got more difficult from there. The most fun part for me was hitting the thrust at just the right time to make the rocket almost hover; the times when I timed it right it felt very satisfying.

It would be neat if there was a way to show the ship's current speed, so you could know if you were going too fast to hit something before you hit it. I was never quite sure if I was going to lose, but the neat glitch effect that happens when you lose was fun so I didn't mind much. My high score was 65. Thanks for making the game!

Get in Shape by Prostone 2017-12-05T22:57:08Z

I liked it, though it was really hard at first. Once I realized that I could tap J, K, and L in time with the music and not have to pay attention to those windows it got easier.

I really liked the guitar soundtrack. It was a really nice balance to the gameplay, and I found myself always pushing buttons in sync with the music to help me focus on everything. The quit buttons were really funny and helped me not take myself too seriously when I lost. I finished it in 138.04 seconds!

Thanks for making it!

Squire! Where's My Sword?! by Magnega 2017-12-05T22:25:56Z

I really enjoyed this; I feel like it would play very well on a tablet. The graphics were good and the contrasting item colors really helped you know what was available quickly.

I didn't realize that I could use the holding area at first. That adds a nice dimension to the game, though I often spent too much time trying to save good-looking items and not enough time giving them to poor Sir MΓΌnchhausen. I really wanted to give him the gold sword; it took me a minute to remember that it was treasure and not a usable item.

I love the title you picked; it's my favorite game title of LD40 so far! Thanks for making the game!

Hydronaut by terakorp 2017-12-05T16:52:12Z

I really enjoyed the retro style; the graphics and sounds were done well, and it felt good to play (just sluggish enough to feel like you're in water and make it a challenge, but still pretty responsive)! The diver animation worked very well, and everything felt alive.

Like the others, I think an indicator for your jump recharge and maybe one for your speed would make the game even better. It might also be nice to have a way to get a heart back every once in a while. Also, I found myself trying to use the spacebar to jump instead of the up arrow most of the time.

It seemed pretty hard at first, but I found it easier to do well when I focused on avoiding the obstacles rather than focusing on getting the coins. When I focused on getting coins, I would often work myself into a corner and get hurt; when I focused on avoiding the obstacles, I found that I could still get enough coins to get a good score along the way. My best so far is 32. Thanks for making it!

Mortal Komba by kokirisandfriends 2017-12-06T02:18:54Z

I really liked how polished the graphics, animation, and sound were. The thing I liked the most, though, was how well the game conveyed the happiness of playing (I loved the "what about... jumping!" line at the beginning)! I made it to 38 jumps with one of the easier combinations, but some combinations seemed really hard. Thanks for making it!

LD42 — Running out of space

caelique by Rother Games 2018-08-14T17:05:55Z

I liked how smooth the movement was, and it was a fun mechanic to play with. I got stuck on Level 19, but it was still really fun! It might be interesting to make the gravity wells bigger so you can use the objects' gravity from a bit farther away. Great work!

Save the Tomatoes! by fractalsunrise 2018-08-14T06:59:20Z

Thanks everyone for the feedback! @sohakes We used LMMS with a MIDI keyboard and a free VST guitar plugin to make the music - an improvisation on the pentatonic scale (the black piano keys). We were hoping to go back and clean up the timings a bit, but didn't end up with the time to do it. Glad you liked it!

Save the Tomatoes! by fractalsunrise 2018-08-14T16:03:36Z

@rafiki @keppu @sohakes Here's a build of the game that has all the levels unlocked, so you can try them all without having to beat each one in order. There are 16 levels in all. Enjoy!

Save the Tomatoes! by fractalsunrise 2018-08-15T01:27:08Z

@proafkboy Yes, LibGDX does provide a way to do an HTML build. It mostly relies on [GWT](http://www.gwtproject.org/), an open-source project that compiles Java code into Javascript web applications. We used LibGDX's recommended project setup tool which generates Eclipse project files for us (you can check a box to include a GWT-based HTML project), though we have found that these sometimes need a bit of manual tweaking afterwards. (For example, we usually need to change one of the parameters Eclipse passes to GWT to increase GWT's allowed RAM usage in order for our projects to compile in GWT properly.) Our experience has been that LibGDX's documentation is often lacking, but general web searching for specific issues is usually good enough for us.

We did not use a Mac to make the .jar file (we don't have one). The three links above all point to the same .jar file, since Java is cross-platform (LD's website only has specific platform links available to choose from).

Card Tower Defense by frozenfire92 2018-08-14T19:56:23Z

Made it to Wave 11, which interestingly enough did not have a title. I think there was really only one strategy that works, and a lot of randomness made me feel like it was up to the game whether I won or lost. But even so, it was still fun to play! I liked combining the cards and it felt satisfying.

I think it would have been neat if I could pick cards back up again, or if when cards go away they damaged the enemies a bit so there was a bit more variety and strategy in the game. Thanks for making it!

Dyson's Fear by zeta0134 2018-08-14T05:31:15Z

Great job! I liked the balance between running slow and fast, and the dangers at opposite ends; it was fun. And way to go for making a Gameboy Game!

Djabo by thomas-olsson 2018-08-14T18:50:50Z

I really enjoyed the polish on this game; the graphics and audio are breathtaking! No other jam game has immersed me in its world so convincingly; well done! The controls were responsive and actions felt good and natural. And the frying pan was spectacular! I liked how he went through everything he was carrying until that was the last thing to use. Wonderful job!

Clippy's Awakening by aevek 2018-08-14T05:06:10Z

I enjoyed it; it was fun to explore around. The sounds were great! I hit the boss glitch too, and I found another one that had me stuck in the pictures folder near the exit folder (the orange shield that was supposed to keep me from exiting until I finished was actually preventing me from getting in), but a restart fixed that one. Good job!

Mad Desert by djosef 2018-08-14T17:53:09Z

I really liked this game! The art and audio work very well together, and I really enjoyed the effects like the sand blowing that helped sell the desert world. It looked gorgeous fullscreen.

I was initially confused about what I was supposed to do, but once I realized that the bottom rows disappear for points like Tetris it was much better. The box physics were a bit odd at times when they didn't quite align to a grid; once I even ended up in this peculiar situation after some TNT blasted a hole on the left:

bug.png

Perhaps the game could be improved with a custom grid-based physics system for the blocks to prevent the edges causing odd behaviors, although I really did like being able to jump on the very edge of some of the boxes and it was still very fun to play as is. Thanks for a really fun and well-polished game!

The Crunch by ProAFKboy 2018-08-14T15:12:06Z

I really liked the concept and story for the game, though the game itself felt less fun than I expected. The tradeoff between delivering fuel to the core and using fuel to find more fuel was a really great idea, and I enjoyed exploring the universe and finding planets.

The fuel consumption and scarcity felt unbalanced to me; I was always running out of fuel even if only had to do small course corrections. I didn't really hit a situation where spending the time to drop crew members on a planet helped me in the long run - it would take too long even if I had a decent number of crew members there. I also never had the opportunity to worry about the space in my ship. If the fuel was balanced better (perhaps if turning cost less fuel, to make discovery more fun and less frustrating) this could be a really great game.

It would be neat if the HUD could distinguish planets with lifeforms and oil from those without - I sometimes felt like I would waste time investigating a planet which turned out to be unhelpful. Also, once I saw a planet on the HUD that was outside of the crunch; that was a surprise!

Great work on this! Despite being unbalanced I still enjoyed it. I often felt like I was rescuing people from annihilation as I took them off planets just about to be crunched, which was neat. With some more balancing it could be spectacular!

20000 Leaks Under the Sea by webthingee 2018-08-14T03:54:02Z

I loved the polished graphics and the audio (especially the music). The main character was also done really well and was full of charm. It would be interesting to balance the holes better to give the player more choice about how much to patch them before moving on (as it is, they patch faster towards the end so I would always stay just a little bit longer to get it all the way done). It took me a few minutes to notice the depth indicator at the top right, but I'm glad I saw it. Even though it was not as fun as perhaps it could be with a little more player choice and a bit less randomness, it was really nice to be in the world of the game; it felt really alive. Also, I laughed out loud when I saw the lose screen; it was great! Nice job!

Spacebars by The Triumvirate 2018-08-14T14:04:56Z

I like what you did with the theme, especially when you had different ways to go (platforms that you didn't have to use) and you had to decide how to use up your jumps. I couldn't get past Level 4, but I liked the idea of it - I kept being soooo close to making a jump that I think would have got me to the goal, but couldn't execute it. I was a bit surprised the first few times when I typed "RETRY" because pressing R twice toggles the R keys back off and I had to press "R" another time to retry; it would be neat if I could press Enter and it typed the retry for me. Also, one time on Level 4 I jumped off the top of the screen and the game closed, but I had tried enough that I was able to quickly get through the other three again to get back there. Great job on a fun game!

Space Hauler by Keppu 2018-08-14T06:41:51Z

I loved the artwork and audio in this game; it was very calm and atmospheric (no pun intended). It was very hard at first, because I expected to be able to do things more quickly, but once I slowed down it went much better. I found that it was difficult to control the astronaut when he was out of the truck - there were a few too many controls to keep straight, the tractor beam didn't seem to offer much of an advantage over just moving the truck, and I would keep losing the truck into the atmosphere while trying to get back in it - so I played most of the time with him inside and just moved the truck around to get the parts. I really liked that the mines didn't explode right away so I could bounce them away from me. Nice relaxing game!

Space Out by Pusakiller 2018-08-14T14:33:06Z

I like the visual style! The animations were a bit strange, but also fun. It would be nice if the movements were quicker; I often felt like he was moving really slowly. It did confuse me a little bit that the move right button was to the left of the move left button. Also, when I tried to restart I hit a bug where he wouldn't respond to commands. The fix for me was to click pause-->restart-->pause-->play; then everything worked fine. Also, after I thought I had figured out Level 7, my guy wouldn't walk left when I thought he would be able to at one point, so I couldn't finish that level. I'm glad you got a level select screen in so I could play Level 8. Great job, welcome to Ludum Dare, and keep making neat stuff!

PostoBot by Kyllax 2018-08-14T15:34:04Z

It was fun! I didn't get past Level 5 - it got pretty hard when there were lots of boxes and I often got stuck where I couldn't move because of being squished between boxes coming off the conveyor and the boxes in the warehouse. The graphics and sounds were really nice; I especially liked the robot's animation; he felt very lifelike and full of character. One bug I noticed was that when I clicked Guide and then Back, the Guide button lost its text, but that didn't affect the gameplay at all. Great job on a fun game!

"glow" Our first game Jam! by Angela K. 2018-08-14T16:38:54Z

It was fun! The ramp was an especially fun surprise. I really liked the atmospheric sounds in the game; it felt relaxing. The ball felt a bit sluggish at first, but in the later levels I appreciated that it went more slowly so I could take my time. Right before I finished Level 5 I did get a bug where the ambient audio stopped without starting again, but I was just about finished so it didn't affect the gameplay for me. Great job, welcome to Ludum Dare, and keep making fun things!

Arrows by JimmyC 2018-08-14T16:19:29Z

I enjoyed playing this game! It was simple yet interesting as the level gets more cluttered, and there was some strategy to it. I liked the "whooshing" arrow tails - they added a lot graphically. At the beginning, I could sometimes get the arrows to fly past the box instead of sticking to it if I was hiding out in a corner, but that didn't last long as they kept piling up. I liked the music a lot, but the instrument was a bit grating after a while. Ironically, my high score was 42! Thanks for a really fun game!

Leave me alone by kraiom 2018-08-14T05:57:08Z

I really liked this game! It fit the theme well, and was fun to play with friends. When I played it against the AI it was difficult to tell where it had moved since it jumped back to my turn so fast. Nice idea and great job!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Choo Choo Circuit by Elemental Zeal Game Studios 2020-10-07T02:36:29Z

I thought this game was fun; it took some thinking to make sure the trains wouldn't hit each other! I was surprised when I flipped a switch as a train was going by and half the train went across the switch, but it made sense and I was still able to win. I really liked how the main menu had a switch you could click to see how to play; that was a nice touch. Great job!

Stuck in a Portal by Dr_V 2020-10-06T19:02:51Z

This was really fun! I liked the feeling of exploration and advancement. I think I would have enjoyed it a bit more if it was top-down rather than side to side; that way I wouldn't have to worry about digging myself into a hole while exploring. But overall great job! I kept wanting to go on just one more resource run... thanks for making it!

Raceabout by joll05 2020-10-07T02:55:21Z

I liked it! Sometimes obstacles popped up right in front of me, but not too often; it would be neat if they could spawn in a region behind the car so you would be able to see them coming. Thanks for making it; great job!

Hiccup Time by Somogy 2020-10-07T04:08:52Z

I really like your game idea; it's clever and very funny. Even after I had been playing for a while, the hiccups always made me laugh. I thought the bars that showed the rewind point and the hiccup time were very effective. It was a bit frustrating when the ingredients I worked hard to get were stolen so often - I wish there was a way to keep the ingredients I got - but overall a really good game. Great job!

Crazy Running Cow by Vollfeiw 2020-10-06T20:24:35Z

This was fun but pretty hard for me. At first I thought the lights on the checkpoints were things I had to avoid. It was so much fun drifting around with the cute crazy cow; great job!

Core Guard by TomatoLamp 2020-10-07T04:59:32Z

I really liked the epic character poses and the yellow trails; it was especially fun to duck under and jump over the red obstacles. I found the aiming and shooting to be a bit difficult and would have appreciated something to show if I was hitting the enemies or not. Also it would be nice if the core health was more at the top rather than taking up so much of the screen. But overall, it was really fun; great job!

Leten Paradox by Darkhex 2020-10-06T20:50:08Z

Great job! It was pretty tricky but fun.

Survive the Temple by Duckonaut 2020-10-06T16:04:29Z

I really liked how polished this game felt; the graphics and movement were really slick. Like other people have said the UI in the top can get in the way, but maybe it can be laid out more horizontally across the top (like have the time slider to the right of the text, etc.) to make it a thin bar. The sounds felt a bit harsh or biting and I would have liked it better if the sounds were more gentle. But overall it was really fun. I especially liked how fun it felt to dash mid-jump. Great job!

Oroboro by ugly_robot 2020-10-07T02:00:10Z

I liked it! Once I figured out what to do and lost enough times to know where things were without being lost, it got more exciting trying to dodge all my past selves. It was tricky enough that winning felt really good! At one point I got stuck in the place where the three yellow shapes are supposed to be put and had to restart, and sometimes the quotes on the game over screen were too long to fit so they got cut off, but overall it was a really fun game. Great job!

Mouseherd by typeswitch 2020-10-06T20:38:23Z

I like this game; it has a great mechanic that has some surprising depth to it. It was really fun and not too hard, and the mice were cute! Great job!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

GA GAME ME by Jezzamon 2021-05-04T03:56:45Z

This was a really fun idea; I like how you found a way to make the layers interact with each other. The platforming seemed fine to me, though I never could quite get the in/out/action buttons straight... I think it would have been more natural for me to use WASD with Q and E for in/out and space for action. I had a lot of fun playing this one and would love to see more of it! Great job!

Puzzle Cove by MaggardJosh 2021-05-04T06:20:44Z

This was fun! I enjoyed how responsive and snappy the movement felt. Lots of good levels and a great difficulty ramp up, which is hard to achieve with so little time; great job!

Extract Enterprise by gamezero 2021-04-27T14:39:31Z

This one looks fun (I love how the people look), but the link was broken so I couldn't try it yet!

Fish'o'gram by Amolker 2021-04-28T01:16:45Z

I really enjoyed this; the exploration and camera mechanics were really inviting and exciting. There was one fish I didn't get from the shallow part that I never could find again after I got all the upgrades. With more fish and more ocean to explore, and with better balancing so I can't upgrade everything to the max so soon, and maybe with some more info about each fish so we can actually learn real things about them, I would easily buy this for me and my kids to play together. Great job!

Deep Sea Diver by gimbalock 2021-04-27T17:42:19Z

I liked how the background got darker as you went down, and the parallax was simple but really effective. The physics and control felt good, though I wished my diver was a bit shorter to fit between the jellyfish better! It would be neat if the oxygen tank indicator was like a progress bar - I found it easy to not realize how much air I had left - but great job!

Super Mole Racing by Mastoast 2021-04-28T01:41:05Z

I love the jumping moles! That plus the wonderfully responsive fast and bouncy physics made it feel really exhilarating and so fun to play. Great job!

Dig it up, dog! by MaDuShI 2021-04-27T17:52:34Z

This was a great idea; I liked it! It was simple but felt very polished. I would have enjoyed some kind of score, either time based or how many things I dug up, but even without that it was still fun to play. Great job!

Marty and the Eldritch Horror by Game Endeavor 2021-04-27T18:06:46Z

I really liked it! You nailed the digging mechanic; it felt really fun even though I kept running into spikes. The music was a bit grating and it would have been nice to have something different for the chase part. There were a few times when the little guy chasing me got stuck on a corner. Otherwise the game felt really polished; I especially liked the pixel art. Great job!

A Fairway Down! by Haydads 2021-05-04T02:44:30Z

I really liked this one; it was super fun and I wanted to keep on playing it over and over! It took me a few tries, but my best so far is 72 hits. I liked the various terrains, and the mood text was a nice touch. The physics were learnable and consistent; it always felt fair to me. The metal "underground" level made me curious about a larger story; it would be neat to develop that more. A few times I got stuck on the rim of a hole, and once on the last hole I ended up between the sand and dirt about one square in underground - it took a few strong hits to the right get me into the hole (but that was better than the lava!). All the holes felt very well designed. This game gave me the happiest moment I have had so far in the Jam: when I got a hole in one on #13! Great job!

Finding Mom by xazens 2021-04-27T18:53:14Z

I enjoyed this one; little Sausachii is really cute! I thought the difficulty was good; not too easy and not too hard. Great job!

Pimble! by PirateHearts 2021-05-01T03:17:57Z

This felt really cohesive and polished, and it was fun! The sounds you made fit really well, and the juicy things like the screen shaking a bit were amazing. Clicking and dragging to throw the pimbles was a neat idea, but in practice it made my hand a little sore after a while. I wish I could play this on something with a touch screen!

It might be neat to be able to start anywhere on the screen to drag-throw a pimble, rather than having to start on the pimble itself, and only have one instead of multiple (or if you have multiple, throw them all at once!). I think that might have made my wrist less tense. Also, I do wish there was more strategy or aim involved; it felt random every time I ran out of pimbles but I wanted to keep going!

Great game, and great job; I liked it!

Colors of the Universe by Itooh 2021-04-27T17:36:29Z

The infinite zooming in was a great fit for the theme, and I enjoyed the process of discovering what I was supposed to do. I appreciated being able to work on the puzzles or relax and explore interchangeably. Great job! I was able to get to the end!

ASTEROID SHOWER by EV3R4 2021-05-01T02:53:16Z

I wanted the game to be fun but it was too hard for me as is. Visually it was great, and I loved the simplicity of it and the retro feel with the scanline effect.

I think it would help a lot if there were three shades of color - darker, normal, and lighter - to show when an asteroid is under me (I can go over it), at my level (I will collide with it and get hurt), or above me (I can go under it). Once I found out that I could go under some, I had trouble knowing when was ok or when I would just crash; I think having separate shades of color would help with that. Also, it would be nice if all the asteroids spawned far enough around the circle from me that I had time to notice them before they got me.

I picked blue, and my high score was 130. Great work!

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Aloffed by Tyler Miller 2022-04-05T19:01:04Z

This was fun; I really liked the happy and calm mood which helped balance the feeling of panic as lots of words went towards the ground! Once I had two words on the screen which both started with the same letter, and when I tried typing one my letter went towards the other one, which threw me for a second. Overall it was a great game; good job!

Good Boy eats the treat. by RobbzenOne 2022-04-05T20:06:28Z

I had fun and made it 68 seconds! The dog was cute, and I liked the playful mood. I found myself wishing that I could jump faster - the floaty jumping made it hard to make use of the platforms - but overall it was a memorable and fun experience; great job!

Look Up! by Cinar 2022-04-06T04:55:39Z

I liked the look of this game, and it was fun to play! It would be better with more balancing, like having the asteroids get harder over time rather than as soon as I upgrade. Before I realized that's how the difficulty advanced, I would often lose soon after upgrading; I often upgraded multiple levels at once which ramped up the difficulty too much. I eventually found a sweet spot right after you get the triple shot that I could maintain for a while and collect iron and gold. Sometimes when I spent a lot of gold getting more damage and fire rate, it seemed like not much changed. I also couldn't click the Size upgrade button except for a thin region on the right side of the button. And sometimes, one of the asteroids would veer off course or come hurtling towards earth much faster than the others; it almost seemed as if the iron and gold were sometimes knocking into them. Despite the balance issues and the escape key not pulling up the menu when in fullscreen, I still really enjoyed this game. I especially liked the asteroid explosion effects and the gun whoosh as it moved, and I also appreciated how it was easy to tell what kind of metal was in each asteroid. Good job!

Overflow by Haydads 2022-04-05T18:02:27Z

This fit the theme really well, and I definitely felt the pressure when I found out that I couldn't rotate the pieces. I really liked how this game made me think about my strategy both for the water path and for what to do with the pieces I didn't want right away. It felt well-balanced, and had a good mix of randomness and strategy/skill. My high score was 70; I really enjoyed this one and wanted to keep playing! Great job!

LD53 — Delivery

Sorting Center Savant by ZungryWare 2023-05-07T02:15:42Z

This game has spectacular puzzle design; thanks for explaining your design process in the comments! This is my favorite puzzle game of LD53 so far. The laser sound was a bit harsh and I kept wanting to use R for restart, but I still really enjoyed this one. Great job!

LD54 — Limited Space

Hexle by TRASEVOL_DOG 2023-10-03T03:20:56Z

Incredible job! I really liked how the rules led to "theorems" which then made solving the puzzles easier (won't spoil them here). The polish was great and the confetti was really fun. Sometimes in fullscreen on my HD monitor the buttons at the bottom were partially offscreen, and for one of the rule tutorial levels the rule text partially overlapped the constraint bits at the top, but the buttons were still clickable and the constraints were still readable so I could still keep going. But so many things worked so well for this game; I'm very impressed. It's really fun; great job!

Micro Golf! by txomin 2023-10-03T01:41:37Z

I thought this was interesting and really funny. I always hit the ball super hard in mini golf games, but this poor guy just needs to unwind a bit! His facial expression was great. I really enjoyed the wall hit indicators and thought it was fascinating seeing all the different possible paths the ball could take. This felt more like an exploratory game than a mini golf game, since it was too hard for me to actually make the ball go where I wanted it to by aiming, but it was still fun! On some holes it felt like the ball was allowed in the hole when it was going pretty fast, but other holes seemed to reject the ball unless it was going really slowly; maybe it was just me, but I think it could be even better with a more generous speed threshold on some of the holes. I was able to beat all the levels though. Great job!

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Hexoban by PlasmaPuffs 2024-10-08T04:11:03Z

Great game; this is very polished! I like how juicy the game is: the bee was always moving and I loved how it stretched, squished, and animated when it moved, and I liked the reaction to hitting a wall. And the puzzles were fun too! The music was a good fit for a puzzle game and didn't feel repetitive. It would be neat to see some stats about optimal moves. Great job on a really fun game!

LD59 — Signal

Signal-flag Shuffle by HacksawUnit 2026-05-02T05:39:45Z

This game was fun! I appreciated that the time limit wasn't very restrictive so I had time to figure out what to do. It took me a while to understand that the lower row of the sign was the leftover two in the row I just cleared, but once I got that I felt like I understood everything. The animations were great and it felt very satisfying to throw the blocks and bombs. Great job!

Galaxy Connect by Baturinsky 2026-05-02T04:19:29Z

I really enjoyed this game; it was relaxing and fun! At first it seemed like the computer was too hard, and I'm not sure which of us hit 150 first, but eventually I ended up with more points than it did and felt very proud of myself. I liked the creative gameplay and playing on a graph of connections. I would love to see randomized levels instead of the same one every time, and also a screen letting me know the game is over after no more moves are possible. It might also be interesting if playing a card gave that option to the opponent next time (like the board game Onitama) instead of both players having the same set of options, though it was good this way too. Great job!

Galaxy Connect by Baturinsky 2026-05-02T13:10:28Z

@baturinsky Well look at that, it can make new random levels; yay! Looks like I just missed it in the description. Thanks for clarifying!

The Transmitter by austinmerrick 2026-05-02T02:56:22Z

I really enjoyed this game; it was hard but fun! Every time I tried to go slow and steady, there was another new mechanic like a jammer or the missiles that kept bumping it back to a more out-of-control-feeling dynamic system. I eventually beat it, but had to retry an embarrassingly large number of times on the last level. Great job!

lil lighthouse by Boxofcuriosity 2026-05-02T06:27:36Z

This was a really fun game; I liked the two alternating phases of gameplay and the good conflicting choices I had for upgrades that affected my strategy. It made me want to play "just one more time" to try another upgrade path; it felt great to find better strategies that let me survive longer. The sounds set the mood wonderfully. Great job, especially for a first jam!
