LD42 — Running out of space

Senbir by CliffracerX 2018-08-14T13:01:19Z

Sorry I couldn't get into it after being on a computer for 72 hours with minimal sleep. I started playing and it was something like being on a computer, after being on a computer, being a computer, I'm a computer, what's a computer.

The SACCULOS Saga by s-ol 2018-08-14T10:00:27Z

At first I was like  , then I was like  . I played Sacculus V: Ghost in the Sacculos, then I played the directors cut. Nice.

Get Comfortable by mcccclean 2018-08-14T13:07:09Z

It was funny and fun! The game was about getting comfortable but none of my positions looked comfortable, no matter though because my score indicated I was very comfortable. Who am I to argue? Fun times!

Sphere by Ntimi 2018-08-14T16:11:34Z

Enjoyed the music, I didn't realize my shield was depleting when I used to to attack or I would have been more sparse with my space bar. I never did get to the end though even though I roamed for what felt for ever. The music kept me going though. Good Job!

Running from ⭐⭐Space⭐⭐ by sobakaduka 2018-08-15T07:24:59Z

I made it to the end just grappling, never even landed until I landed on the last pad. Was fun!

Tetromatcher by Alchemic 2018-08-14T09:15:25Z

I had some trouble moving pieces where I needed them. When I hit left or right, I would frequently move more than one space. I ended up getting the hang of the controls, but they still felt slippery. I like where you were going with the color combining, but I felt more compelled to make lines than to match colors. Maybe add more color to the blocks, then I would get more chances to use the color.

Save the Tomatoes! by fractalsunrise 2018-08-16T00:04:41Z

I loved the cheering upon completing a level. That "Yay" really gave me a sense of accomplishment. I like how the fast you moved the quicker the weeds spawned. It made it so you couldn't waste movements later in the more difficult levels. Good job!

Family Computer by somnolentPumpkin 2018-08-14T08:07:46Z

My wife made me download it because she saw a Shiba. Was not disappointed. We had a good chuckle.

Don't Miss! by djlink 2018-08-15T02:14:47Z

So great! I'm literally going to be walking around for the next few days saying Pew! Pew! as my irl sound effects.

Short Fuse Saloon by souperstrawer 2018-08-14T17:11:06Z

Not being able to hand drinks over the bar was annoying so I started kicking everyone out, I should never own a drinking establishment, I realized I hate serving people. Great sound, funny at times. Good Job!

Rainforest by SimoGecko 2018-08-14T16:04:04Z

Very Great Job! I started playing and at first I was very taken but the moment the warehouse became bursting with packages I was on the job hustling and working for free and I couldn't stop! Great Job!

CAVEMAN by Subsage 2018-08-16T06:55:45Z

It loaded and then my caveman would get stuck after a few moves. Not do to hunger or obstacles. Had nice sound that fit the game though, and it had good randomization.

AL - A Choose Your Own Adventure by starvingindie 2018-08-15T23:56:44Z

I really enjoyed it, it was very funny and it was full of imagination. The only thing that ruined the start for me was that I didn't see I had to start the music myself, so I thought it had no audio. I replayed it with audio and it was even more awesome! Great sound!

Roboss by Doc ill 2018-08-16T06:46:57Z

Very polished and nice. As far as boss fights go this was definitely a very good one. Nice job!

Crystalmancer by Crowno 2018-08-14T14:28:23Z

Looks great, sounds great and I really liked being able to adjust the palette scheme on the fly. I can see the attempt was made to incorporate the theme into the game play but it doesn't exactly fit. It caused a bit of confusion on my behalf when my first instinct(break vase) created what I believed to be items but turned out to be impassable rubble, then I crushed it thinking I destroyed my items. Rinse repeat. I figured out on my 3rd life that it was working as intended and that I had to crush any rubble left behind from destroyed/killed objects. Still fun, still enjoyable. Great job!

Black Matter by BruReale 2018-08-14T20:53:16Z

I'll admit to giving up after about 6 attempts. I liked the sounds and the feel of being in space but I didn't life the feel of the controls. Took me a while to figure out that clicking not holding was the correct method to thrust.

Rebound by Greyo 2018-08-16T07:21:34Z

Going to be very honest, this is 5 stars all around. At first the camera angle was a bother but without it's slight angled view this game would be too easy. Very well done. Hope you rate more games so that more people have a chance to play this. It would be receiving a large amount of high votes per category. Good job. Hope you enjoy mine.

MondrianCraft by kromeboy 2018-08-14T08:55:02Z

I liked and finished the game. The strongest feature is rearranging pieces to fit. But, as others have said, combining shapes is trial and error.

Owned By by arctic_allosaurus 2018-08-18T10:26:05Z

The questions really helped pull me in at the start.

CRUSHED - Rage Inducing Platformer by Ajay.2002 2018-08-15T07:37:24Z

Very reminiscent of Limbo. Great music and nice unique control features.

Fergie Forker by LillyByte 2018-08-15T03:05:50Z

I hate work but enjoyed your game that put me to work.

WeAreTheAntidote by Mowztouch 2018-08-14T15:47:16Z

Great concept, took a lot longer than it should to understand the interface and the controls scheme could use a redesign but overall a great execution.

Born to jump by Blix 2018-08-15T09:24:38Z

Okay I didn't think I was going to like it but I love the crowds reaction to me losing my limbs. Was very funny game and was also fun!

L: An Interactive Mystery by Cercle 2018-08-16T02:54:37Z

The voice acting and the story were great. The ending was anti climactic for me but it ended on a note where it would be easy to continue adding on which is maybe your intent. Really shows that a story can make point and clicks very immersive. Great job!

Miss Eyesore by Filip Bergkvist 2018-08-15T09:41:19Z

I see a lot of these P.T inspired games now. It was very well made. Good job!

Taint - A LD42 Game by Pyja and BKAT by Pyjamaboy 2018-08-15T07:09:34Z

Looks great and runs great but a little to dark which makes it very difficult to see. Overall good job!

Escape Earth by Vedal 2018-08-14T18:06:49Z

Instructions weren't very clear. I came to the comments to find out how to play. Once I began playing I liked designing my rocket.

Get To The Airlock by Dan Davis 2018-08-15T07:15:40Z

A lot of fun, I really enjoyed it and really liked the ambient music and how the face mask breaks.

Pig Pile by GreenBoxGames 2018-08-15T04:36:06Z

I shot stuff!

Planet 'O' by Nehal 2018-08-14T15:29:19Z

The mechanics could use more work, also I have an ultra wide screen monitor and couldn't see the buttons on the bottom of the page unless I restarted and dropped down my default resolution.

Running out of Space by digital bacon 2018-08-16T09:36:10Z

The screen shot above explains my play through experience perfectly. With some polish it would be pretty easy to get a grasp of and get into. I liked the sounds:)

Dataphobia by Shozou 2018-08-15T02:27:11Z

My game bugged on the level after the tutorial but the guy kept dancing with the music so I left it him bugged and jammed out with him for a minute before restarting. Great music, great game and it looked wonderful on my ultra widescreen!

Memory Mayhem by ZuhairGhias 2018-08-16T08:27:38Z

Math is fun! Good job! I played many rounds as I got better at the controls in attempt to better myself and by my 10th round I was up to 5 blocks of 16. Good times!

Forkin' It Up by Eric Smith 2018-08-16T06:39:04Z

This game looked great and had nice sound but I'll admit that the mouse controls were a bit difficult to adjust to.

Virus: Rabbit by Rob Parker 2018-08-15T04:30:50Z

I liked the fire wall and Shield, I got lost in my own rabbits too often and yes I didn't know where I was half the time.

R.O.O.M. (Really Obvious Objects Moving) by NorthernDevGuy 2018-08-16T03:48:04Z

The game had some glitches but nothing game breaking. It had good music and created a feeling set the mood well.

Endless cleaner by Alidar40 2018-08-15T02:32:59Z

Great Job! I never thought cleaning could be fun lol.

The Dream of Becoming Too Fat by SkyreX 2018-08-14T13:57:53Z

Fat guy here. Eating copious amounts of fruit does not make you skinny. Source,: I'm a fat guy who eats chocolate fruit.

The Valiant by smuhlaci 2018-08-14T09:34:34Z

I killed all of the orcs and waited. Then, nothing :(

SpaceBreaker by MarkD 2018-08-14T13:20:47Z

Having a sweet mechanical keyboard helped me get to plad! Was fun the faster I went and I really enjoyed the audio. Great job!

Corrupt Space by jmswrnr 2018-08-14T11:51:51Z

It didn't fit the theme, but the art and atmosphere are very engaging. I turned the lights out for this one. I'd love to play this game someday. This is the first time I have ever seen or noticed normal mapped pixel art. I had to find out more, so I ended up heading over to your twitch stream and watched how you did it. You were hand painting normal maps in your stream. Doing something like that never even crossed my mind. Watching you paint the normals just perplexed me more, but you did a great explanation in blender with the matcap materials. I may give it a shot some day. Good Job! Again, I hope to see this as a real game someday.

"glow" Our first game Jam! by Angela K. 2018-08-15T02:11:25Z

@sekwah41 Interesting that it started your VR panel because it is not supported. Thanks for playing! @kirillr Sorry about the file size, we weren't 100% on how to optimize and it could most likely be a lot smaller.

Thank you all who have played our game so far and thank you for all your feed back. We are also enjoying playing all yours !

"glow" Our first game Jam! by Angela K. 2018-08-15T05:46:16Z

@nikyaer To answer your question about the objects in the distance. We took real landscape height data we collected using google earth, used the data to create mountains in blender. In blender, we randomly deleted about 70% of the vertices, then turned the remaining vertices into randomly rotated triangles. This left a nice silhouette of the mountains. Then inside of Unreal Engine, we added some emissive material.

"glow" Our first game Jam! by Angela K. 2018-08-15T07:48:20Z

So happy you are all enjoying our game, we are both taking the time to also rate all of your games and will get to all of them. I forgot to mention it before but our game includes controller support!

"glow" Our first game Jam! by Angela K. 2018-08-15T08:58:47Z

@mrjorts Thank you for your feed back. The final level was indeed a very different game type. It was intended to be a part of a feature in which you choose the type of game mode. There was also a race the clock mode that did not make it into the game but we decided to showcase the collect tiles mode on the final level anyway. It also seems that many share your consensus about the ball needing to be more visible. We really appreciate your constructive criticism. Glad you played our game. We will soon be playing yours as well!

"glow" Our first game Jam! by Angela K. 2018-08-15T23:29:15Z

@powerauer Thank you for playing and rating our game.

As for the balls reaction time, we're seeing that this feature is not being well received but a few and so it is something we do want to revisit and maybe make the ball not so heavy or multiply the torque values to a higher output more quickly.

Thank you all so much for playing. We are enjoying our time playing all your games and hope our comments and ratings help you all as well.

"glow" Our first game Jam! by Angela K. 2018-08-16T03:51:08Z

@martintristan I really enjoy roll ball games too! Glad you enjoyed it. I'm all about funky music:)

"glow" Our first game Jam! by Angela K. 2018-08-16T07:47:42Z

@carlos-giraldo Thank you for playing and rating! Super monkey ball and Marble madness were definite inspirations. We might continue polishing this game after the jam and releasing a 2.0 version with updated content including some of the recommendations made by the community. Look forward to playing your game. (Edit) Looks like I already played your game and I loved it and rated it above and beyond!!

"glow" Our first game Jam! by Angela K. 2018-08-16T08:07:26Z

@julien-foucher hello and thank you for playing! Your game was astounding by the way. Hope people posting here see this and click on your name and check it out.

To answer your question. Yes we did experiment with a lighter ball but felt that the weight created a more ball feel vs a person walking around feel. We might revisit as too how heavy it is though if we decide to continue with the concept of this game. Thanks for the constructive comment !

@zuhairghias Hi, thank you so much for playing our game. To answer your question about the terrain. We took real landscape height data we collected using google earth, used the data to create mountains in blender. In blender, we randomly deleted about 70% of the vertices, then turned the remaining vertices into randomly rotated triangles. This left a nice silhouette of the mountains. @nandelind Thank you so much for playing and testing our first jam submission. I'm happy you enjoyed our simple take on a roller ball game. We are considering updating it with more levels and more great scenery and sounds. If that happens I'll be sure to message you and others who have commented on enjoying glow. Thank you again!

Phase Shift by mitjmcc 2018-08-16T03:16:45Z

Very great job on such little time. Great sound and visuals and unique play style for sure. Maybe adding a short delay before returning to the idle animation so it isn't glitching between aiming position and gun spinning position. Other than some polish this game is great! Thanks for the trip back in time to Jet Set Radio Future!

AGAIN by Colorfiction 2018-08-16T07:40:54Z

Looks good but without a clear indicator as to what or where you must reach the filter and visuals become more of an eye sore than the beautiful thing you first see. With more clear direction instead of wandering aimlessly this would be a lot nicer.

Data Strain by Nikyaer 2018-08-15T06:24:33Z

Looks great but I have to reload the browser any time my game ends. Couldn't figure out the restart button.

Get spacebar back by Bennet 2018-08-15T02:22:45Z

I downloaded it twice but got the same error that read: There should be 'Get spacebar back_Data' folder next to the executable. I'll check back and if you have solved this I'll definitely play!

Ultimate Question - 42 by Usanio 2018-08-15T04:24:31Z

Very nice play style, I enjoyed it very much and smooth transitions!

Park & Match by Carlos Giraldo 2018-08-15T04:04:21Z

I played for about 20 minutes, it was so much fun and challenging!

Stuck! by chkkll 2018-08-14T15:21:37Z

Great take on the theme! I fooled myself into thinking I was safe when I reached the first door with my progress bar less than half way filled. Then the opposite door opened and it closed before I can shove the other fat guys out of the way. As a fat guy, it felt like real life. Good times!

Nice Try!

Took me a while to realize that killing the enemies is what made the light area smaller. After figuring that out I just avoided them as long as possible until I had to kill the redo ones and made it to about 175 points before dying. Overall was fun.
