WTF?! I was alone in home and was on full volume. Almost fell from chair on first jumpscare XD

panurge 2018-08-14 13:17

Took me a bit of time to get used to what was going on and I may have shrieked a little on the first jump scare! Very effective mood and setting - I can imagine this being expanded into a neat full game.

znw 2018-08-14 14:35

Nice mood. Almost accidentaly broke my mouse when encountered the robot. Like the game and visual style. 4.5/5.

And, surprisungly, this is exactly what the game I worked on intented to be, by the way XD. Though my one lacks gameplay and has balance issues due to bad time management. (Yep, PRing my own LD entry in comments section).

thedouche 2018-08-14 15:09

Happy that you guys like the game! /Daniel dev

outstar 2018-08-14 18:13

That was a really neat horror experience. I can see some YouTubers picking it up to do jumpscare'y videos! I screamed when Miss got to me :)

meltobis 2018-08-14 18:21

Got scared in no time, good job!

leave 2018-08-14 18:37

I tried to play it, but after a bit i decided that this is too scary for me, sorry. The menu looks great, i really like the design of the creature and lighting.

mike-inprinciple 2018-08-14 18:38

Fantastic presentation with a title screen to kill for. However, I had trouble understanding the game's map at first, because I was lazy to read all of the instructions. With that considered, I also had trouble understanding which room was dangerous and when. The light intensity wasn't helping my understanding. Great project though. Good luck if you decide to carry on with it.

bigbosserndog 2018-08-14 19:44

Nice! Horror games aren't really my type of thing, but it was clearly very well made! I like all the lighting, very eerie. Miss Eyesore herself is looking very pretty XD Nice simple gameplay, good job.

fingamer 2018-08-14 20:06

The game was epic! It had the right aspects of a great horror game. I was truly terrified and could barely move! When the time was running out I just went to wait in a corner in the main room just to hope that I could make it. But... I didn't. Miss Eyesore caught me. So... In the end I didn't manage to win... Hehe.

I guess I really have nothing negative to say about this game.

Overall very well executed concept and nice way to view the theme! I had a horrifyingly great experience. Excellent job!

drell 2018-08-14 23:21

I like what y'all did with the theme! The atmosphere was also really good! I was scared and creeped out even before running into Miss eyesore haha

bustosman 2018-08-15 07:15

It seems the web browser link doesn't take me to the correct page.

bungalow 2018-08-15 09:01

I'm not good with jumpscares. At all. But a lot of effort was clearly put into it and you should be amazingly proud, also the graphics were unbelievable. Good luck with future titles! :)

angela-k 2018-08-15 09:41

I see a lot of these P.T inspired games now. It was very well made. Good job!

catbutt 2018-08-15 11:19

there are alot of things i can walk though without collision (walls), this ruined it for me.

chupachu 2018-08-15 11:25

Really enjoyed watching and playing this game, the atmosphere was really incredible for this game, the whole thing was just really well made all around. I agree with SpookyShoots when he said that with a bit more polish this could be a game that Markiplier or someone famous would play. I hope you expand on this game, I can't wait to see what it turns into!

filip-bergkvist 2018-08-15 11:46

@chupachu Who is SpookyShoots? Edit: Found him, however he does not seem to save his videos, which is a shame.

filip-bergkvist 2018-08-15 11:49

@bustosman The link should be fixed now!

alien 2018-08-15 12:23

The Game is bloody Awesome!. It's Really fun. Scared the living shit outta me. Great Job!

wowa 2018-08-15 13:10

It took me a while to understand what's going on but it's pretty well made and the mood is great! Very well done!

devio 2018-08-15 14:42

Good game overall has many similar elements to allot of horror strategy games, this is not a bad this as they have been tried and tested. What I think would improve the game, is fewer generators. I was too busy running around and sorting generators out to feel a sense of impending doom. And the monster instead of being horrifying After running around a lot it was more of a jump scare. All of these problems can be fixed I think, with fewer generators. Graphically this game looked nice and I have (during the stream) suggested looking into the post-processing stack by Unity. Had a bit of fun during though so good job, a game is meant to give some sort of entertainment and you hit that on the head.

filip-bergkvist 2018-08-15 15:21

@Devio Hi I am the developer that was not able to watch your stream. We are already using the Post-Processing Stack quite extensively. We aim to completely redesign this game. We never thought that it would turn out this good and get such positive attention. Thank you everyone for playing our game!

michael-feldman 2018-08-15 16:56

My first reaction was to Alt+f4, then I remembered i was running html5 version and had to reload history. Effective mood and atmosphere. That's cool that you all recorded your own audio for this. Unfortunately I will not be playing anymore until the adrenoline is flushed out of my system. Thank you very much. But for real great job with this game :)

dumivid 2018-08-15 19:08

Brave move to try a full 3D game at Ludum Dare, this take some courage. Tbh, I do not like horror game so I don’t enjoyed as much as I could, but at least I can appreciate the effort you put in this game. Nice work, I think you should make the game a little bit easier to understand, and you will bi good.

acronaut 2018-08-16 00:01

One needs to get really familiar with the layout to get the flow going.. (after at least 8 replays) the distant lit-lights on the generators are very effective visual cue!πŸ‘Œ

It seems that whenever you attempt to close door there is no chance to escape the inevitable Eyesore..

Very Effective atmosphere with the sound-design!πŸ‘Œ

Optional Suggestions: - Color Coordinated Rooms or color/number lanes - Overlay text on generators: Instead Symbol cue + numeric % progress.. - I would as a Strat. to close all doors at main and hoping to at least let the demon gave chase around the table (a mini-game of confront demon?, Very slick and fast enough that you need to track-it moving of its 'phantom - silhouette' or it will fail then trigger the jump-scare); Instead it's railed-jumpscare(nice execution!)πŸ‘

lavinski 2018-08-16 00:08

Nope Nope Nope, Never again! Amazing work!

meatpudding 2018-08-16 00:44

It's intense!

bustosman 2018-08-16 10:21

A very tense game and I admit I didn't play it much since I don't like to play horror games often. Graphics are pretty excellent and so is the sound, while the gameplay seems simple and pretty fair. Good game!

gleb-shishov 2018-08-16 11:43

Very interesting game, I VERY EXHAUSED SCRIMER. Good work, keep up the good work)

saering 2018-08-16 14:50

Hi ! As a horror game amateur and for having myself worked on a horror game for this ludum dare I'll allow myself a detailed feedback !

First, the game is beautiful, there are only a few assets and textures (which is normal for a 72 hours production) but the lighting makes the job, it makes the environment stressful along with the sound effects of the alarm, the generators, etc... The only thing I would say about the sound design is that the music sounds more like a reflexion puzzle game. I, personally, prefer ambiant sound than music in horror games, but it doesn't bother me if there's one, however this one was not accurate in my opinion (though it didn't reduce the game quality !).

But after a few games I was almost lost, not completely understanding what I had to do and how. Even if the introduction texts give the game a little interesting storyline, I read it between the lines to be honest because I don't really want to play a horror game to read long texts. That's not really a bad point, that's my opinion, but maybe you could've gone a bit faster to the point, with less text ?

I eventually figured out how the game was working, and from that moment I could really enjoy it. Walking through the corridors is scary, the monster and the way he catches you is frightening, but the thing that's very terryfying is that he seems able to catch you from almost anywhere, so I had a feeling that the game over was kind of random. I know it's not, but sometimes (not often, just a few times) I was like "how the hell did I lose right now ??"

Also I like the use of the theme. When I realised the use of closing doors giving access to broken generators I was wowed by the idea, which is simple but perfectly fits the whole thing ! Good job on that. And one thing I would have not do, is showing Miss Eyesore in the main menu. Not knowing what the enemy looks like makes it even more scary :p

To conclude, this was a truly enjoyable experience, a very well ludum dare game, and a good little horror game that could be extended to become an incredible one ! And if my feedback is a bit hard, well this is simply because I liked the game and I think there's a potential (but don't worry I know making AAA-games in 3 days is hard haha) ! Great job to the team :)

filip-bergkvist 2018-08-16 17:03

@saering Thank you very much for this comment! We are still developing the game because we really like it and want it to be "finished", so I can cover some of the points that you brought up c:

Lighting was a big focus for this game, I spent way too much time getting the lights and materials to look right, but I figured that either they would look good or the game wouldn't be engaging.

The music part is something that we might look into. We had a friend make the music with no other involvement in the project because he was busy, but now after the jam we might give him a chance to make new music while knowing what game we are making haha.

The amount of text has been severely cut. In hindsight it was just ineffective to both tell the story and explain the gameplay in the same text. We have since divided them

The "how the hell did I lose" scenario was something I realised a little too late. We have now added a hint system when you die, telling you how and what to do to fix it.

Thank you for getting the theme in this :D While not working as well as we intended, we also like the idea of closing off areas as the game goes along.

The monster on the main menu is also something that we thought about. When people try these jam games they are quick to get a first impression, so we wanted to make ours count, but I absolutely agree, and we thought this through hard before going with it. The idle animation on that screen is kickass though, if I can say so myself...

You feedback was not hard at all, thank you very much for playing. I will check out your game and try to do the same to you c:

Also I know that I am talking about changes we made after the jam, so they don't apply to the rating, just letting you know that your criticism is very appreciated because we want to improve it.

saering 2018-08-16 17:58

Glad to hear that you're keeping on developing the game ! And thanks for this interesting answer !

I can indeed get why you decided to show the monster in the menu, I didn't think of that reason when I was giving you my feedback, but we can't forget that we're participating to an event where we eventually publish our games and try to attract as many people as possible to have reviews. But it's fine if you agree with my point haha

Hope I'll have the pleasure to play the game again once you're done with the updates ! :D

thedouche 2018-08-16 20:52

Just wanted to say thank you all for all the response! It’s unbelievable that we got so many great reviews!

rainbow-rave 2018-08-17 01:28

Awesome atmosphere built with the art and the music, nice work on the models and textures, gave me a good scare thats for sure ! awesome :D

lumpy 2018-08-17 17:23

Of all the games I played, yours scared me the most. Well done!

james-shipp 2018-08-18 00:12

Really nice graphcs! My favorite asset was the map in the main room, looked super nice- reminded me of Bioshock or something. Definitely set the mood well, the first jump scare really got me. The whole game was so dark that it was kinda hard to tell when a room was 'dark' and the text instructions on the screen didn't do as well a job instructing me on how the game worked as maybe they could have. About one of the above comments ^ I think having the monster on the title screen was a good, call, I spent like 2 mins just staring at it's texture before playing the game. Very polished!

rayne 2018-08-18 04:54

Oofff, I'm not made for these games. Awesomely done, team. It feels amazing. True horror

jern 2018-08-19 15:23

PROS

- Scary as hell. - Lighting, models, n environment are well done. - Sounds and overall mood are fitting.

CONS

- Gameplay confusing - Unforgiving, makes it difficult and frustrating - Gameplay alone makes it hard to pick up on what you're supposed to do to avoid the monster

Fun because it's scary but after you play it 2-3 times it looses its oompf

zinski 2018-08-23 14:38

I found the concept of this little horror game really interesting! I loved the immersion and the visual effects! However I think that with some additional feedbacks this game would be even better! Great job! :)

By the way please feel free to leave us some feedbacks on our game!

dleanjeans 2018-08-29 04:14

Freaking scary game! The anticipation is even worse than the jumpscare itself. The ESC button has saved tons of times from heart attacks.

I'm really enjoying the game but it's too hard to ever win.

You said: "I found the game to be too easy" in Patch 1.2. I suggest adding difficulty levels instead of tweaking the difficulty of the game itself.

Oh, and I think the lights above every door should indicate at least something instead of just being there.

Looking forward to your next updates!

ursagames 2018-08-29 06:18

Super spooky game! Very impressive how much was accomplished in the span of a jam. I wish I could handle horror games so I could actually beat it. Thanks for sharing the game with my stream awhile back. Your game starts at around 5:00 into the vod https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297479036

mrjoshuamclean 2018-08-29 16:00

This kind of threw me into a bit of a rant, maybe as a push-back from the plethora of positive feedback. It's not my cup of tea, but clearly it satisfies a ton of people, so feel free to ignore me. XD

I did really enjoy the monster design.

Anyway, if you want to see the rant here it is: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/298013773

filip-bergkvist 2018-08-31 19:01

@mrjoshuamclean Thank you! I watched your stream, and no I don't think you were overly harsh, but I feel like we can be forgiven for some of the faults you mentioned. First of all, this was made in 72 hours. Creating a horror game with context and different settings during that small amount of time would be incredibly difficult, we barely had enough time to finish the game as it is. I am ashamed that some very game breaking bugs appeared in your video which of course also makes it look much worse. We were fully aware of the "jumpscares aren't scary" opinion, and we agree. We really wanted to make something more than just another jumpscare game, but in the end we had to settle for that. There have been several aspects of the game that forced us onto that, mostly time and design issues. It kind of evolved, there wasn't even supposed to be a monster, but it turned out so well that I currently feel like the monster is the best aspect. I am not trying to say that you are wrong or anything, as I said I agree. If this were a full game developed over months that cost money I would be awfully dissapointed, but that's not what it is, and unfortunately it is very flawed. Thanks again.

ace17 2018-09-03 20:49

YES! I freaking love this entry!

Great work on the mood, graphics and sound - the level design is a little bit simplistic compared to those ;-) (and thanks for the web version, runs great!)
