Wow thats a very coherent 80s style game, the gameplay is amazing. What software you use to make the main theme? I love it <3
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD48 → Super Mole Racing

@tomeks Thanks you for the kind comment ! All the game was made in the Pico-8 engine, which comes with a music tracker i used to make musics and sfx
Really fun game. Feels great whenever you get momentum. Love the style as well. Really want to learn pico 8 someday, games from it look so good.
Very cool game, i had a lot of fun playing it, although I keep getting third, I think I need to practice a little bit more:v: :)
Another Pico8 fellow!
Awesome execution, but I feel too old for those insane speedy action games ... with picoblast processing !
Awesome! The soundtrack is one of the best I've heard for sure, and the gameplay is really satisfying. Well done!
Plus points for Pico8 too ;)
Was really fun and hilarious! Also, PICO-8 GANG UNITE!! I also used PICO-8 for my game DEEPER! also, I was wondering, how did you pull off AI in PICO-8?
Great work! Not much to say here, the game is fun and the AI are balanced enough to provide some challenge while still being beatable after a few tries. I had fun!
Sega!
@eboatwright The AI is really simple, you can check it in the source code, but basically : * Always try to go down * Dash against other moles if there is one next to it * If it can't go down, dash to a random direction (left or right)
That's it. I wanted to add a better one by analysing the map, but it started to cost me too much time, so i just went with the basic one
@mastoast Wow! That's really smart!
Damn, that's really fun to play, I could absolutely see it on an arcade !
Really fun to play ! Graphics are coherent and beautiful, really good retro game mood ! Awesome work, physic works so well, it's challenging and fun !
the logo design and the graphics are realy gooood.
I love the jumping moles! That plus the wonderfully responsive fast and bouncy physics made it feel really exhilarating and so fun to play. Great job!
✔️ The controls were very intuitive and allowed me to hop right into the action.
✔️ The controls also allow for some mastery timing dashes correctly to weave around objects.
➖ The game was a bit easy, I got first place on my first attempt.
I very much was not expecting to come across a racing game after seeing this theme. I think it's a great take on 2D racing. I would have like to have a couple of levels, even if a random one was chosen every time.
Loved the music and look (also yay pico8). Fun little racing game. I kinda wish the player character had a different color or something I don't love the white circle but yea everything else here I love. Great Work!
Hey, that was amazing! Everything about this is great: graphics, musix, sfx, controls, theme...
I agree with @rngames that it would be nice if it was a little more challenging. If you add a procedural mode and higher difficulty settings, I could play this for hours.
I hope we get to see more soon!
I just want to say that this is truly awesome. I would tweak the difficulty a little as it felt easy, but apart from that, this is a gem! Thank you for this! Love it
This is really nice. Good job.
really nice job! cute mole, excellent tunes, fun physics. fun to see other people's pico-8 stuff :D
Hey yo. Amazing work with this game. I absolutely loved every bit of it. :) The music was great. The physics were cool and the concept of a racing game with this topic. I'd say this is even a gem. :) (Would definitely play a post-jam version or even this one afterwards) So thumbs up for that one.
The only thing that I'd criticized are the controls. While I find the way they work generally good I don't like the button layout. I think that you worked on this with a keyboard with the qwerty layout... And I imagine this would be neat with the dashes since the "z" and "x" keys are directly next to another. But in other layouts those keys are not really next to another. I use the German qwertz-layout for example and in there the "z" and "y" keys are switched. So the left dash is more right on the keyboard than the right dash key.
So I'd appreciate a button remapping option or alternative button layouts for that problem. But that's the only thing that I'd criticize.
Absolutely fantastic work with that one. :)
@rocketninjagames thanks for your comment There are actually alternate keys for dashes, you can either use Z and X or C and V, maybe it will suit you more. I can't change the inputs since the game is made with Pico-8, which comes with limited and predefined ones. So keep in mind that you can use C and V for every other Pico-8 games you will find too
@mastoast Thanks a lot for your reply. Interesting insight. Never really played a lot of PICO-8 games. So that's a new one. And ahhh... Overread that alternative control scheme with "c" and "v". For me that would be a lot better since those keys are directly next to another in my layout. Don't know for other ones though. But yeah... That's nothing you got a lot of control so I understand it. Thanks again for the tip. Will keep that one in mind.
Great game! Simple but addictive. Good artwork, i like the music. I keep bumping into just about everything, and yet I made it 1st place. It would be nicer if the obstacles were easier to avoid. It would also be nicer to encounter more rivals while racing. Maybe have more of them?
