LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Sea of Lies by Erkberg 2021-05-08T09:57:37Z

This is a blatant smear against political dissidents. Not amused. You distort valid criticisms and conflate them with crackpot theories (lik flat earth).

For example, you make the enemies say:

"COVID-19 does not exist" => distortion of valid criticisms, for example problems with the validity of the PCR test which has been validated in court.

"Bill Gates tries to steal the sunlight from us" => Bill Gates's crazy plan to diminish the sunlight by dispersing particles in the atmosphere is not a conspiracy!

Reel Deep by frenchie 2021-04-30T21:16:48Z

Very addictive, great graphics and sound. Upgrades are well thought out. It kept me "hooked" until I hauled in the treasure at the bottom. Avoiding the obstacles/fish seems impossible at times. I think there's an optimal strategy when going down, by just sitting in a bottom corner.

Deeper Into Technical Problems by thesambassador 2021-05-08T21:20:04Z

Great game, very addictive. Great attention to detail in the animations, although I'm missing a death animation, the game stops so abruptly. The game seems a simple shooter, yet the game mechanic feels original and interesting. I found it very difficult. It would be more fun to have a lot of ammo and explosives at the start.

Descent into Midnight Trench by kfischer-okarin 2021-05-11T21:04:02Z

Nice game. Graphics are simple but effective. Harpoon motion is cool, but killing fish with it seems to be a hard and sluggish experience. How about making it shoot faster? The fish always start swimming to the right, which means you can win by just staying on the left.

Earigator by alec 2021-05-08T15:17:11Z

Very funny, and actually very playable as well! Good graphics. I think the music is a little grating. Beating the time is a nice to make the game replayable, though it would be nice if there were different levels as well.

Mind Hack by DivFord 2021-04-30T19:01:57Z

Great job, an FPS with multiple levels! The enter mind feature worked for me. If there are multiple enemies shooting at me I tend to take control of the first one, to make sure I get less flak from the others. The "mind" level would benefit from more variety.

The Elephant in the Room by CeeJap 2021-05-02T13:51:04Z

This is a pretty good game. Presentation is charming, and it's addictive enough to keep going to reach just one more level. Dying instantly from one mistake grates after awhile though. I see that you made a version with a checkpoint, I'm gonna try that now.

I just played the final level. The boss fight is a good idea, maybe good to have more of this!

Miner Rescue by Vasco Freitas 2021-05-14T19:59:03Z

Cute shooter with very classic feel to it. Well balanced in terms of difficulty and duration. The move/shoot control is rather difficult, it felt like I was shooting in the wrong direction. I would like more emphasis on shooting enemies rather than navigating the environment.

To the Center of the Earth by oda 2021-05-14T17:26:43Z

Nice and good-looking game. It could be a little faster to make it more exciting. Also it starts off rather easy. I would probably reverse the controls.

Time to grow down by Hidjy 2021-05-08T20:34:14Z

Great idea, and it looks good, although it's still incomplete as a game. As you get deeper, the view gets so dark it's impossible to see, with the white border. Also the roots seem to grind to a halt at some point, is that supposed to happen?

Light 'em Up by Deseteral 2021-05-08T18:41:06Z

I tried to run this on firefox / linux, and I get the following error:

SUBTERRA by daniele 2021-05-11T20:42:33Z

Amazing game! Well presented, addictive, and polished. The gameplay is also pretty original. The sense of urgency of having to drill deeper fits the theme well. It would be nicer to get an earlier warning of the the lava coming. As it is, you're pretty much screwed by the time it becomes visible. The game could also start off easier or have an easy mode, as the game seems pretty impossible to a beginner. Last but not least, I think the game would benefit greatly from better routing controls, for example using cursor keys to lay the path.

I get the following error on the html version. I'm on linux, can't play the Windows version.

Super Mole Racing by Mastoast 2021-05-11T22:48:50Z

Great game! Simple but addictive. Good artwork, i like the music. I keep bumping into just about everything, and yet I made it 1st place. It would be nicer if the obstacles were easier to avoid. It would also be nicer to encounter more rivals while racing. Maybe have more of them?

My Escape Pod by batuOZ 2021-04-30T19:19:56Z

Graphics are awesome! Length and difficulty level is good, although I think there should be more to do in the first couple of levels. Controls are a bit frustrating, maybe they can be tweaked a bit. Maybe change the mouse pointer into an arrow or something else?

Cookie Crisis by Uppitydonkey57 2021-05-08T21:02:24Z

Cute whodunit game! Nice blob character animation. At some point I guessed, and got the answer right. I never managed to use the "like" verb effectively though. Interaction is a bit confusing at first, because you keep interacting with a character even if you walk away.

you are chained to an egg and are falling down a pit by goblinkingmatt 2021-05-11T21:20:01Z

Wow... that was a weird experience, good job with that! You create a great atmosphere with the trippy graphics and environment. The physics are really interesting but I felt totally out of control most of the time. It wasn't clear what to do. I felt like level progress was just luck. The dialogue sequences were confusing. I could not figure out whether I was already playing. The egg was obscured by the text balloon and he table on the right (or whatever it is) glitched all the time. I had to wait for a long time for the dialogues to end. Is there a skip dialogue button?

Into the Forrest by frompdx 2021-05-14T20:15:36Z

Congratulations on creating a very ambitious game! It looks promising, but I experienced some serious control problems, which makes it very difficult to play the game. First of all, when I try to click on a user interface button, the armies walk towards that spot on the map. Secondly, there seems no way to scroll the map other than by the tiny cursor buttons, why not have keyboard controls? Overall the controls are confusing and do not seem to follow the usual RTS conventions.

A Dank Room by ssh.randy 2021-05-07T21:00:44Z

Great to see a roguelike on LD! Lighting effect is cool. The crafting part at the beginning seems a little pointless as there is no real challenge except figuring out the rules. Is there a way to attack the crabs? I just avoided them.

Into the Deep by Adam K 2021-05-07T21:29:32Z

Great shooter! Altogether well balanced. It's challenging but it kept me coming back for more. The game becomes more fun as you get bigger guns. Some of the graphics look good, like the water plants and the dolphins, so I bet you can make the other graphics also look good with some work.

The Adventures of John Drillman by Stanislav Angelov 2021-05-11T20:54:52Z

Simple gameplay, but well executed. As it is, the game is very hard. Sometimes there were so many objects in the way they seemed impossible to avoid. It would be nicer to start easier with less objects. I am also in favour of reversing the controls.

Seriously Deep Space! by Braden land 2021-05-07T21:59:16Z

Cute game! Because you have so little ammo, I found myself dodging everything and not shooting at all. I think the static background is a bit too bright.

Descent into tyranny by duo-afgebeld 2021-05-07T19:42:07Z

@knatt Thanks for pointing out the highscore bug! Both games used the same prefix ("LD48") for persistent storage. It's fixed now.

Beepo's Shop by itsBoats 2021-05-14T21:02:04Z

Great game! For a game with simple rules and no enemies it is very engaging. At the beginning I found it hard to progress but it was addictive enough to keep me going. At some point it became easier, and it was very satisfying to dig deeper and collect larger amounts of gold. Despite being simple geometric shapes, the graphics look polished with great attention to detail.

Taaanks! by Squerf 2021-05-08T20:43:32Z

Cute, good looking, and nicely finished game. The destructible environment is a nice touch, perhaps this could play a bigger role in the game? The move control is weird, why not make it "twin stick" with A=left D=right? Perhaps zoom the scene out more? Most things happen on the radar, but it's too low-res to aim accurately.

Encephaloexcavation by OffDutyExtractors 2021-05-07T20:00:28Z

Great game! Polished looking with attention to detail. And I like procedural and destructible environments. You get killed a little too easily by random monsters jumping on you, I think. The respawn button crashed the game (I'm playing the html5 version in firefox on Linux).
