LD46 — Keep it alive

Sanity Sim - Keep your sanity alive by petitpois 2020-04-21T14:55:07Z

Fun concept! Would be fun if you had money or something, and actions had a cost to them. I like the idea though.

I think it got a bit repetitive after a while, because you could just cycle between the highest output activities until you died.

TowerDefense by kableado 2020-04-21T16:43:20Z

i had fun hitting the balls. limited gameplay, but it's a nice concept. instead of being the builder you're the actual units going around hitting stuff. Keep working on it!

Sweet Baby Boi by Phing 2020-04-21T16:36:03Z

oh man. on the one hand, i hate it. on the other hand, this is a piece of art. 5/5

i think the controls around the staircase are a mite wonky. it doesn't have replay value. but boy that shock factor. that's a keeper.

Ducky's Day Out by Kosmo 2020-04-21T16:21:08Z

Awesome! Great execution on this idea, the level design was pretty fun, graphics were good, the resetting was a little annoying (and it was annoying to have the animation play from the end to start of the level on each death). Really well done though!

Burnt Out by ModalModule 2020-04-21T05:47:53Z

i don't like how easy it is to clip, but overall i loved the game! I love that you incorporated your nephew, i loved watching the fire grow, and it was satisfying to feed it. was a little confusing what the objective was, i thought it was just a time length at first, only later i realized that the fire could grow into different stages. but still pretty good!

Into the Woods by DJN 2020-04-21T04:44:19Z

scrollwheel crashed my game, and the controls didn't seem to work for me :(

Into the Woods by DJN 2020-04-21T04:47:08Z

oh got it now. is there any way to make more fire? all i could do was pick up twigs to keep my fire going. graphics were pretty nice though!

Time Agent: Protect the VIP by kasperhangard 2020-04-21T17:02:28Z

mood and graphics are great! but i don't really get what you do in the game? i just replayed it a few times and killed or got rid of anything that killed him in previous rounds.

You Live Like This? by LurkinMcClerkin 2020-04-21T15:17:04Z

I didn't particularly enjoy the game, but I think it did what it was trying to do. Great graphics, concept was absolutely horrifying, a little too real. Reminded me of the world of warcraft south park episode. That was really well done.

Mad Planter by Niki90000 2020-04-21T14:48:14Z

Hey cool game! I think that there's a bit more work to do on making the core mechanic more compelling (for now, it can seem a little tedious to just click on plants to water them). In addition, there's only one type of plant, so the game gets a little stale quickly! It'd be nice to think more about how you could extend this core mechanic (of watering plants) to make for more dynamic gameplay! Maybe make it so that plants take a few more turns to grow, and that watering shouldn't just be mass clicking?

Also you could make it so plants maybe spawn into different types, and that all you control is the class of plant you're watering!

You could also plant things that make you money, to buy more plants. Lots of different ways to go with this, it's a cool concept though! Great work!

Garden Royale by Nyamah 2020-04-21T15:23:58Z

that was a funny concept. I love it. I thought the game was a little unfair, and i'm not a huge fan of doom, would rather it be 3d, but definitely a good idea. Multiplayer would be awesome.

Keep the LEVEL ALIVE! by magicera 2020-04-21T14:26:37Z

wow that was insanely fun. one of the best i've seen! The controls were a little wonky, and glitchy at times, but the gameplay itself was super fun, and the idea really novel. I could definitely see this being a more full fledged game, even a tower defense of sorts in the future! keep it up!

Blood and Snow by Mika la Grand 2020-04-21T16:47:58Z

Awesome! Love the atmosphere, and the nice touch of your spouse in the cabin. found it kinda funny that she could die too

Neighbor - a spooky pixel adventure by kristinamay 2020-04-21T15:50:49Z

oh wow well done! That's a lot of story packed into a small timeframe. And first time using unity! I love that you managed to craft a little world in so short a time frame!

Dungeon of Robots by GullynGames 2020-04-21T15:02:35Z

That was a fun bullet hell roguelike! I think it could utilize the helper robot a little more though, he didn't really add much to the game. Fun though!

Jack's Star Destroyer by TheAxe316 2020-04-21T15:42:37Z

Wow. I don't think the idea is novel by any means, but the graphics and gameplay has been the best i've seen so far. this is a really stellar entry, and i love it!

visual feedback, audio feedback, different enemy types, all make for some really awesome gameplay!

Keep The Runner Alive by Life_Lich 2020-04-21T15:39:13Z

awesome game idea! i was hoping to see more of these, speedrun-esque games where oyu keep em alive! UI is clunky for sure, but the core concept is good.

I would recommend making it so that it's easier to select/deselect items, it's not obvious in the selection screen how to place items. I would also add a UI for removing single items, it's annoying resetting the entire setup just because one item is in the wrong place.

It's also not intuitive how the jumping platforms work.

Light The Fire by Bjoern 2020-04-21T15:27:05Z

i appreciate the puns. not really a fan of the controls (i feel wasd top down should be up down left right, not forward back strafe. unless we're going resident evil). fun concept though, and good job!

Perpetual Motion by gabtoschi 2020-04-21T16:37:18Z

that's really cool! unfortunately, no access to a printer :( but i think it's a super novel idea, fits with the theme well

7 Intelligence by twobitadder 2020-04-21T03:58:36Z

sweet concept, could make for a cool puzzle game

LudumBuster by gramozilho 2020-04-21T03:49:59Z

that was pretty entertaining. i liked throwing the customers around, and the south park esque characters. sound effects were entertaining too.

wish the dialogue would skip to the end, wasn't patient enough to read it all.

also gameplay could be a little wonky at times, were you supposed to just throw customers at the register to force them to buy things? was it a bug or a feature? kind of added to the humor

Eggbert II by senar93 2020-04-21T02:35:27Z

I thought the gameplay was definitely novel! I also thought the graphics and audio worked pretty well, although I think that I have a bit of fatigue with isometric turn based games. I thought the level design in particular could use some work, but I could see a lot of potential around level design.

There was a bug, in the fourth level, I turned one of the wyverns, yet for some reason the egg died and the game just kept going. not sure why (i played levels 1, 2, and 4 when this bug occurred).

Defend the swarm by Defenestration 2020-04-21T04:53:52Z

wow that was the most fun i had. not super innovative in terms of gameplay and theme, but i could see myself playing a polished version of this for hours. really good work!

also, scoring doesn't seem to work

Last keeper by Tatyana 2020-04-21T06:03:30Z

Gameplay super fun! Feels like that one party game you play, where everybody has to take care of different tasks together and you have to shout across from the room.

graphics are great too!

Repair-it Roger by somethang123 2020-04-21T05:36:50Z

Game was pretty fun, but the enemies got repetitive quick, and the gameplay didn't really vary. But a great first job!

Stay Alive by Hruy Gashaw 2020-04-21T03:11:14Z

a little confused, i couldn't get through any levels? Not sure if there were any controls besides WASD, but the bullets were fast enough that you can't effectively dodge anything. Maybe a problem on windows?

Emberkeep by T C 2020-04-21T02:37:40Z

Didn't really like the graphics/mood being set by the game, but I liked that you had to be strategic with how your follower had to follow you. Could definitely see some interesting techniques around that, could even work as a fun puzzle mechanic.

House Party! by HyperBabyDuck 2020-04-21T03:29:03Z

I thought it was really creative. Gameplay was super confusing, took me a bit to understand the core mechanic. But I thought keeping the party alive was a pretty good idea, and the ending definitely got a 5/5 from me

Keep Dano Alive by Blue Pin Studio 2020-04-21T05:57:05Z

unfortunately, i'm also getting the black screen :(

The last hope by WalterGK 2020-04-21T03:12:42Z

browser version is broken, can't move or reload (running on chrome on windows 10)

It's Just Human by MomoLala23 2020-04-21T02:41:19Z

hah that was pretty entertaining. i liked the multitasking, although the last element (bottom left) served to confuse me more than anything. I also felt at some point that the game was "unfair", the balance was a little tough, but overall i enjoyed. Maybe adding some way of progression could give this game better replay value? Overall though really fun.

also, bug: if you click on the sleep-meter, you can just automatically set it to any value.

Symbio by x_minus 2020-04-21T15:20:48Z

Oh i like the sim. Don't really get what the gameplay aspect of it is, hard to control the birds, and I don't really see how you can influence anything one way or the other, but it's always fun to watch simulations. Good work on your first try!

Leafed Behind by melomel 2020-04-21T03:19:34Z

upvote for grandma and puns.

i kept overwatering though :'(

Lab Rat by Maxathon 2020-04-21T03:07:04Z

Awesome! Loved the humor, thought the controls were a little wonky around the top (where the cutting board and the top right specimen were, if you stood next to the cutting board, you couldn't switch to the specimen without walking away first).

Never figured out how to make cobb salad :/ So i lost on the 4th or 5th level.

The gameplay felt a little repetitive by the end

Apopecalypse by weil 2020-04-21T02:44:17Z

I appreciate the effort put into the physics engine and mechanics! The game is not very forgiving though, and frustrated me more than anything else. I think sticking to the jumping, or the pillars, but having both ended up just being way too hard to manage from the start.

Kaze No Kami by ssh.randy 2020-04-21T03:13:33Z

Sorry guys, no win condition yet! We both have full time jobs and couldn't work on it on Monday, but we're glad you enjoyed it so far!

Kaze No Kami by ssh.randy 2020-04-21T17:03:21Z

Thanks for all the wonderful feedback y'all!

we'll make sure to make an update to this game at some point. we'd love to release it on android!

Kaze No Kami by ssh.randy 2020-04-23T02:01:32Z

@hellequinne thank you so much!!! Those ideas sound great. A lot of our limitations were because we lacked the time to polish our game, we just wanted to demonstrate the core concept first. But we will keep these in mind when we make followups!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Fishery by recursor 2021-04-29T03:32:35Z

cool game, good execution! got a little boring at some point though, felt tedious to have to catch fish to get gold. i think maybe some better visual reward for catching fish could be nice, or maybe making the hooking process a bit more challenging (as simple as having to press a button to get them to hook!)

otherwise i liked it. fishing games are always a blast

Cavity Tycoon by Roberto Romao 2021-04-30T00:57:05Z

Nifty game! Would be nice if we could hold down the mouse button to mine. It also felt like there was never any threats in the game? I think it could use some kind of mechanic that made the game harder, or at least something to build towards (other than just buildings to get win points), but i liked the overall concept!

Minexile by legavroche 2021-04-27T04:14:52Z

i love the approach! the music didn't work for me at all unfortunately, but i liked being able to control a bunch of miners and take them down. the UX was confusing though, don't really understand how to direct where the miners would go, took me a while to get the hang of that, but still don't fully understand it.

the concept is solid though!

Seven Sleepy Nights by Osterzone 2021-04-28T22:16:29Z

Awesome polish on the game, and a cool take on the theme. Really like what you did with it.

The only part I didn't like, was how close it hits to home. I really should sleep with my phone away from my bed.

Where's grandpa? by Holy 2021-04-27T04:35:57Z

i loved it, but i also hate that i finished the cat/fox puzzle but it doesn't tell me that I finished it :( i feel like one of the pieces is slightly off and i can't tell which one.

still, super fun!

Can't_Get_Out by rbeattie 2021-04-27T04:23:39Z

Not as big fan of the controls, movement made me feel kinda sick. but I like the idea of opening doors as you delve deeper! I couldn't figure out if there was a way to get deeper though, it just seemed to loop at some point and I wasn't sure why. Maybe I was missing something?

Great work though!

Elevator Goes Up? by Generic Games 2021-04-28T16:47:27Z

very nice take on cookie-clicker-esque discovery games! loved how you had to both drill down and go up! curious what the end game is (if there is one), but either way definitely had fun!

A Dank Room by ssh.randy 2021-04-26T21:52:21Z

sorry, link fixed! you should see it now, although the game is still WIP

A Dank Room by ssh.randy 2021-04-26T22:57:27Z

Just so people know, there's a bug with the map view! You have to click on the map in order to get your movements to register. we'll fix it asap!

A Dank Room by ssh.randy 2021-04-27T04:43:18Z

hah good find on the exploit. we can release a patched version in a bit :) @kaabiikaze

A Dank Room by ssh.randy 2021-04-27T04:43:49Z

@teenythanos thanks a bunch! time constraints was what ultimately led to the lack of sound track, in the future we'd love to make one. thanks for the feedback!

A Dank Room by ssh.randy 2021-04-27T05:06:10Z

woops that's a bug @fireslash ! we did not properly account for that  sorry! we'll work on fixing it

A Dank Room by ssh.randy 2021-04-27T16:55:10Z

@krummja we used react without any other frameworks! just bare react :)

A Dank Room by ssh.randy 2021-04-28T16:18:32Z

Glad y'all loved the game so far! we've been a bit busy at work, so we haven't had time to fix the torch exploit :( but then again, you can theoretically craft as many torches as you want

in future iterations we hope to add a real combat system too :)

A Dank Room by ssh.randy 2021-05-01T02:29:52Z

@feraligatr thanks for the feedback! it's been a while since we worked with react, but we'd love to make our UI more reactive in the future to deal with different browser sizes!

Dig Deaper by wigglewigglestudios 2021-04-28T02:28:11Z

there was an issue where if you try to buy a worker, you can't deselect, so it always attempts to buy a certain worker. also, they were super expensive! i'd make the lower tiers slightly cheaper/more effective so that people are more motivated to keep going at the start!

1000 Fathoms by Dom De Re 2021-04-30T00:32:59Z

Nifty game, thought it was fun! Didn't really feel that much of the theme, but I thought the gameplay was great

it was actually kind of fun as a multi tasker... didn't realize it was 2 players, i just controlled both at once and somehow managed to just scrape by. Could see this being a really fun multi-tasker kind of game

Nice Fall by Nice Gear Games 2021-04-27T04:42:27Z

i enjoyed it. was super fun, and comeback mechanics definitely made it more fair. it's impossible to dodge the birds though as you go down!

Deep Space Janitor by kristof 2021-04-30T00:49:48Z

Didn't like the controls/camera angle, but boy it made me sad to see Lucy dead. I had no idea what was going on until i checked her vitals...

didn't think a ludum dare game would make me feel like that! great work!

Asterisk by Crychair 2021-04-30T01:04:20Z

Awesome game!

wish there were some feedback loop though, to collecting materials. also, the death felt a little unfair. sometimes bombs went off right next to me, and i lived, and sometimes bombs would go off a little far from me and i'd die? it'd be nice to have some indication of how close i'm allowed to be. wasn't sure if i had health either, or if it was a 1 hit kill kinda deal?

either way, loved how rushed you felt to dig deeper, and how frantic it'd be to avoid bombs as you tried to dig deep. great game!

Fat Larry at the All-U-Can-Eat buffet by mariszin 2021-04-30T00:40:14Z

Cute game, feels kinda retro. some bugs though, did you intend for people to travel outside the outer walls? In addition, at one point i got caught, and got sent back a level but spawned inside a tiny square with nowhere to go.

also, it'd be nice if you were disadvantaged as the game goes on (like if you go a little slower as you got heavier)

otherwise fun game!

CAELUM CORE by inertiaa 2021-04-30T00:44:13Z

Collisions were a little wonky, the physics weren't too great, but i liked the jams and the platforming was still fun!

MazeCeption by burntoast2000 2021-04-28T02:40:08Z

on the one hand, i love how cruel it is to have to do a maze inside of a maze, on the other hand, it's so painful to have to solve 5 mazes to solve 1 maze.

i think it's a really novel mechanic/idea, but i wonder what kinds of feedback loop/rewards you can give your player for completing mazes! i enjoy getting the cheese, but there were no counters or any way to track progress!

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Total Collapse by tinykidtoo 2022-04-06T05:53:39Z

Atmosphere was good (was pretty terrifying), but the control scheme was really jarring. mouse sensitivity was super high, and i felt like the monsters came on super strong from the start. Overall pretty fun though, great work!

Flooded Caves by nusan 2022-04-06T05:48:58Z

Wow that was amazing! The music got a little repetitive near the end, but I loved the gameplay loop. Such a simple concept done so brilliantly, managed to clear hard mode after 5 tries! Scared to try the hardest mode though, bravo!

Wild Mongoose Chase by gglyptodon 2022-04-09T04:27:52Z

didn't give it a rating because it isn't working from me (windows on chrome)

The Gardener by GullynGames 2022-04-14T03:59:04Z

had fun playing it, liked the idea of bridging gardening with TDs! It was very satisfying to harvest my potatoes. The graphics weren't my favorite, but everything else was great!

The Death Pit Will Have You! by Uraffululz 2022-04-14T04:35:58Z

Super cool mechanic! Could definitely see this being fleshed out more, but i think it's super on theme, super fun to play, and plays very smoothly. awesome job!

Life of a priest by Adam Jewell 2022-04-09T04:41:26Z

Interesting concept! It felt a little repetitive near the end though, adding something to run away from/avoid could have been fun! Or adding ways to shepherd villagers together.

Overall great concept and great work!

The Death of Time by OminusGalaxy44 2022-04-09T04:30:19Z

I thought it was interesting to put the gun over the character's head, but it was visually very confusing. Who was my character, who were the enemies, and where was the shooting coming from? Because the game starts off so quickly you can't really tell what's happening. On second playthrough i got it a little better, but it was still a little frustrating. Also the game progresses so quickly that it's hard to get any sense of progression.

Overall I think there's a good base! Keep it up!

The Last Stand by Idontgetit1 2022-04-15T01:00:55Z

amazing graphics and sound, and great concept! Game was just brutally hard though, and the interface was a little annoying at the start to get the hang of. overall though an amazing submission!

The Squeel of Time by Victris Games 2022-04-14T04:41:55Z

Love the concept, love the gameplay, love the little "yipee", and thought it was an interesting idea. Only critique is that I don't think it explored the theme a ton, but everything else was great!

LD52 — Harvest

Lightshrooms by LeReveur 2023-01-16T02:48:39Z

Interesting concept! I loved that as the level went on, it'd be harder and harder to navigate the maze. Would be interesting to add more puzzle effects to take advantage of this, but it was fun nonetheless.

The Last Outpost by Joror 2023-01-16T02:39:11Z

Overall the game has a nice core game loop to keep you going (enjoy being able to manage a bunch of different resources at the same time, very rimworld esque). my main issue stems from managing so many different people, it becomes sort of a chore near the end game!

I'd say it was fun to play though, but could present the player with more interesting choices (as it lacked a bit of depth). The end loop turned out to be a bit easy once you get there, not presenting too many interesting choices.

Artwork was reminiscent of the early FF games which I enjoyed, and I appreciated the thought going into the sound design.

Also discovered a bug! Markets would auto-assign a villager, which ended up giving me infinite money (as I didn't actually need a villager to be assigned to the market!)

Great work, keep it up!

Red Owl LD 52 by Rocktavious 2023-01-16T03:31:55Z

I think it was nice to see some basic mechanics, and you have the beginning of a fun game! The gameplay loop didn't seem too satisfying though. the start felt a little slow and unrewarding (just hitting pumpkins in the face). I did like the animations on their faces as i hit them though.

great work!

Puzzling Harvest by Uzpykes 2023-01-16T03:21:25Z

that's a pretty tough puzzle game! love the graphics, and i think the mechanic is quite interesting. would have loved some nice music in the background.

Arrrrrvest! by SgtWeirdo 2023-01-16T04:29:21Z

love the music and voice SFX, my favorite kind of SFX. graphics were super cute too. the gameplay was a little confusing initially, as i had no idea what to do with the plots of dirt. but as i played it became a bit more intuitive. overall great job!

Leafus by koboldskeep 2023-01-16T03:42:55Z

super clever idea! never thought of gamifying the game of life. I'm super bad at this though, but love the creativity here

Pitchforks & Produce by Medow 2023-01-16T03:17:46Z

super cool game concept! i think it was a little weird to get used to, but loved it. great work!

i think a bit of "invincibility timer" in between combos, or making combos a little more spaced out (spacing out the clouds) might help. or perhaps a faster combo (kind of like hyperlightdrifter) could be interesting. the idea itself is super cool though!

Eden Harvest by KeichiTS 2023-01-16T06:17:49Z

nice soundtrack and good visuals, gameplay confused me a bit though.

Rookie Harvester by VA_kuro 2023-01-16T04:40:23Z

fun little game, but agree with @noeloskar ! the UI was really confusing at first, and i had to do a bunch of reading.

i think gradually introducing concepts, or having fewer to start might be easier for a player at first.

overall great job! cute artwork!

Money grows on trees by Fluburbio 2023-01-16T04:23:52Z

super cute art style! i'd love to see this game fleshed out more just for the art, great work!

Soul Harvest by twilightrh 2023-01-16T04:45:26Z

Love that you could dash, made the game seem a bit faster. Wish enemies spawned faster though! It felt like i was waiting a while for things to happen.

also think y'all could really use a dashing animation! I could tell that throwing the scythe probably took a fair bit of work haha. Overall well done!

Power Spud Harvest by Pojo79 2023-01-16T03:10:21Z

reminds me of digdug! fun little game, although the enemy movements seem a little haphazard. There wasn't really much point to the digging part, except for giving your bullets room to go, so it didn't feel like there was much impact to digging.

Otherwise fun little game, thanks!
