LD46 — Keep it alive

Keep It Alive by danman9914 2020-04-21T20:00:33Z

Whoa dude. SUPERB game! That's really all I can say, without sounding like a broken record listing off all the things you did well. Truly excellent. Wouldn't mind seeing this expanded into a full game (maybe with varying cargo or something). Well done!

Remember, Apollo by AdamCYounis 2020-04-21T18:53:45Z

Excellent artwork, especially the "final scene". That was chilling. Great story. The gameplay as a bit lackluster and could use some fine-tuning, but overall it was enjoyable for what it is. It was compelling, fun, and moderately challenging at times. Sound design was okay. Nothing really stood out, but maybe that was intentional. You definitely sold the mood of a weary, defeated man trying to do his best. At times the gameplay and events also added in a sort of understanding of his frustration, too. Great job!

Swarm by DerKuchen 2020-04-23T23:02:49Z

Fun game. Good level design, and the power-ups were a nice design choice. My only criticism is the choice of colors. It was kind of difficult to see that some of the barriers were moving against the color of the background (though admittedly I do keep my phone screen rather dark).

I would definitely play more.

Heat of the Moment by Uraffululz 2020-04-17T22:50:35Z

My first jam starts right when I get off work tonight. Picking up a pizza and some beer on the way home and preparing to churn out something with terrible noob code and crappy art. However, if even one person likes it, I'll consider that a success.

Thanks for playing!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

There's Something Down There by Uraffululz 2021-04-26T19:36:28Z

I hope you enjoyed playing my game.

I appreciate any feedback you have to give. Unless it's about my lack of initiative in life. I hear enough of that crap from my parents.

Thanks all.

There's Something Down There by Uraffululz 2021-04-27T03:07:07Z

Yeah, sorry if the aim is wonky. I haven't used Unity's new input system much, and never for that purpose, so there was a lot of trial-and-error involved just to get it working as well as it does.

It's also my first intro to using the "animation rigging" package (for pointing the harpoon in the correct-ish direction). I have to give props to Brackeys for their tutorial. It was a big help.

There's Something Down There by Uraffululz 2021-04-27T16:33:42Z

@usenrame You totally got the depth idea. Thanks for noticing! Just wish I could have modeled/rigged/animated more before time was up.

Was thinking some kind of angler (those dangly light bulb fish) and another eldritch monstrousity for the deeper levels. It would have made the game feel more "complete". Alas....

The idea was based on Cthulhu resting at the bottom of the Mariana Trench (which is about 10× deeper than the game gets, but who wants to spend 20 minutes playing a single-screen demo? Haha)

Deep Space Drill by Dorigami 2021-05-02T18:59:13Z

Excellent work! Classic scrolling shooter, and the streak system was a nice addition. Audio and game feel are very satisfying. Great work on the various enemy types, though the lasers sticking around after the enemy was destroyed was a bit annoying. Still, great job!

LD49 — Unstable

Hexworld by icxon 2021-10-05T19:06:40Z

Excellent game! Loved the unique mechanics, and the sound design was superb. Now let's bow our heads to the hundreds of little men who fell overboard (and the probably millions lost at this point, both during development, and by other players). May they find peace in the down-below!

Breathe in Puzzle out by glimaleite 2021-10-06T08:23:58Z

Wonderful game! Beautiful, thoughtful, and INTENSE! I think this is my highest-rated game of the jam so far! Fantastic work, team!

Kaboom Box by kleinzach 2021-10-12T15:01:57Z

Excellent game. Great use of "3D spatial awareness" as a puzzle-solving mechanic. My only issue is that the colors or various objects are a bit same-y, although the indicator given when hovering over interactable pieces did help with that. Very intense, and a lot of fun. Would definitely play a post-jam version of this game! Great work!

Reactor Rush by auxC 2021-10-06T19:08:43Z

A fun, unique idea! I absolutely suck at this, but still enjoyed myself. It definitely made me feel "unstable", in a good way.

Excellent art, solid controls (even if my panicked brain couldn't totally grasp them when being pursued by lava), and awesome music. Nice job, team!

SEXY BOOBY 95 by silkworm_sweatshop 2021-10-05T14:50:28Z

Ah, dial-up and virus-inducing incriminating internet searches. Definitely does feel like the '90s.

Excellent music and humor. Great work, especially for hitting the compo deadline. I would definitely watch that booby shake again.

II-III-V by miziziziz 2021-10-06T17:08:42Z

Mood rating: 17 stars

Holy crap, that was heavy. Excellent atmosphere of confusion and panic (or was that just me?). The movement was challenging, but unique (definitely more "unstable" than just "WS to move, AD to rotate". Kudos!). This game definitely leaves me wanting more!

And this was a solo, compo jam game? Daaaaamn! Fantastic job!

Garbostackers by Runuchok 2021-10-06T15:55:14Z

Awesome idea, and well executed! Excellent job with the graphics (I particularly enjoyed seeing the rotating stacks displayed during the "game over" screen).

I feel like it would go great with a kind of lofi-cyberpunk soundtrack. Great work!

Interstellar Highway Robbery by Corny 2021-10-11T16:54:03Z

Very cool game! Loved the graphics (the box "lights" are definitely a nice touch). I didn't make it too far (my oxygen depleted faster than I could keep up with), but I definitely look forward to seeing how you develop this game. And all that as a solo Compo game? *Martial arts bow*

Take stuff the game by Ayced 2021-10-20T07:08:56Z

I'm so glad I didn't read the comments before playing. At first I was thinking "Okay, this is kinda fun", and then I picked up a wall, and that DEFINITELY increased the fun factor. Excellent job!

My Ordinary Life by fabY 2021-10-06T06:46:37Z

A charming game with beautiful graphics.

The only part that concerned me was the dog-fetching quest. I found it difficult to jump on the big boxes without several tries. Maybe if the jump was a bit higher? Really, that's my only issue.

I'd really like to play this, if you decide to make an expanded post-jam version. Great work!

Deepwell Safety Inc. by rock-gong 2021-10-06T05:36:10Z

I can safely say that I've spent more time playing this jam game than any other yet. Great idea, with great execution. The music was great (if maybe a bit repetitive after such a long time).

Only bug I ran into was on day 33, the man wanted his bird back. I placed it in the "holding area" (?), but I think I dragged it over to him before the door fully opened when switching to the "cargo port", and so it just disappeared, and there was no way to get it back. Bye bye, Birdie.

Still, great job!

Crumbling Mind by NoeTheLazyDev 2021-10-06T16:20:14Z

Excellent game, and great visuals!

Not sure about having so many "leaps of faith" in the game, and some of the jumps that were there seemed a bit too far (I understand it's a platformer). Some of those jumps I'm still not sure how I achieved (because I was depressed, and couldn't see half the screen anyway haha). The combination of these things led to some really...unfortunate deaths (and felt a bit unfair at times). However, the quick reload and checkpoints made up for any inconvenience, and I eventually made it to the end.

If only we could all get a few re-dos when our mental issues cause us to make mistakes, amirite? Your team did a great job!

RAGE HORSE by SlickRamen 2021-10-10T20:32:13Z

I played it twice, and downloaded to play again later. If that doesn't explain how much I enjoyed playing this, I don't know what would. Funny concept, and the art is f-ing glorious. Gameplay is simple, but solid. Very fun, and hope you'll continue to develop it.

This is a fantastic example of each member of a small team putting their experience and styles together to create something absolutely amazing. Great job, team!

Celestial Heights by shp 2021-10-06T20:01:31Z

Cool little game. Often times, though, I'd get to the top of the "falling" platforms, and my grapple couldn't reach anything higher, as the platforms fall at different times, so there's a huge gap, and I just end up riding back to the ground. I get that I'm probably meant to be quick enough to stay ahead of that effect, but that requires a bit more quickness than I could manage, even on easy mode :pensive: . I do appreciate the "laser sight", though (especially as a console gamer I'm not so used to using my keyboard and mouse outside of my own gamedev projects).

I also think moving around with WASD might have saved my butt a time or two. Maybe a jump button? I get that those weren't within the idea of the game, and I can appreciate that.

Having said that, I did enjoy this game. Excellent sound work. Nice graphics, too.

Great job! And as a solo compo jam game, my issues are basically void. I understand the time constraint and pressure. All-in-all, this is a solid game. I just wasn't very good at it haha.

There'll Be Hell To Play by Enya454 2021-10-05T14:22:20Z

Honestly, it confused me at first. I felt like I was stuck on the first machine (like maybe I had to reach a certain score), but then realized it was because I was using A & D to move the claw (which did work), but (now it seem obvious) the game tells you to use LEFT and RIGHT, which DID allow me to change machines. So it was allowing me to use A & D to play, but wouldn't let me use those same buttons to switch machines. Thus the confusion. I even scrolled through the comments, hoping someone as dumb as me had solved the issue. Guess it's just me

Ultimately, though, I did reach and defeat the boss. It was a lot more fun once I realized my mistake. Great art, sound, and excellent use of effects.

Into the Cone Zone by Cookie Dragon 2021-10-05T21:13:01Z

I'm not ashamed to say I kept playing this until I had well over 100,000 points. My laptop could use a bit of a cooldown period, I think, haha. And I absolutely had to capture some screenshots of flaming cars flipping through the air, and launched myself high up to get a sweet aerial shot.

I would absolutely buy a full version of this game, maybe with different maps, objectives, multiplayer, or whatever. Reminds me of the "Crash" mode (I think that's what it's called) in the old Burnout games, where the goal is to cause as much destruction as possible. Or the movie "Rubber", but with a homicidal, immortal traffic cone instead of a tire.

I'm still chuckling to myself after playing this. Simple, but HILARIOUS

Etherlands by Ethernal Tech 2021-10-05T20:44:39Z

Definitely a good base for a future game. The visuals are charming, and the sound effects work well.

Unfortunately, I wasn't totally clear on my objective(s), and the game crashed on me a couple of times (something to do with the workbench?). Still, I can't fault that for a jam game.

The Eye of Glower-On by UkuleleFury 2021-10-06T03:11:27Z

This was a lot of fun to play on mobile. Level 2 didn't quite fit on the screen, but it wasn't a big issue, because although, I couldn't see the bottom-left platforms, I could HEAR them coming, thanks to the excellent sound design. The patbfinding was excellent, and didn't seem to get stuck even once (Those Orcs can do some damage, haha).

I would definitely play a full version of this game.

Wilson's Lab by Nebrazif 2021-10-12T11:17:01Z

Excellent game! Good difficulty curve, too

Wine Guy by johanhelsing 2021-10-06T06:57:27Z

Enjoyed the challenge and the audio. Great atmosphere! Excellent fit for the theme of this jam

Potions for Dummies by Milan Dolezal 2021-10-05T16:34:45Z

Really cool idea, and I definitely appreciate being able to play it on my phone. The sound and visuals were top-notch!

I'm still not sure what exactly was wrong with some of the villagers (they looked fine after treatment, but were, I guess, swaying back-and-forth?). Those were the times I just went for the hail Mary, and ended up passing them off, haha. Still, after a few minutes of experimentation, I was able to cure myself. Huzzah!

Blazing Festival (LD 49) by c-13mu 2021-10-07T13:40:54Z

Good job with the atmosphere! A bit repetitive, but that's not bad, given the time constraints of the jam. Nice artwork!

BATTERY ACID by AploveStudio 2021-10-11T08:57:09Z

Love it! This is one of the more intense and fun games of the jam that I've played so far. Simple, but strategic. I would definitely like to see this fleshed out into a full game, with some lore and various weapons/enemies/rules. Excellent job!

Everything is Fine by Noire 2021-10-05T08:53:33Z

As someone who (like many) struggles with addiction(s), I think this game provides a valuable perspective on (though ultimately nothing people don't already know, but alcohol (and "addiction" in general) is INSIDIOUS, and this game captures that feeling in a coherent, beautiful way.

Great mood, visuals, sound, basically everything. I just wish it had been longer, and that's a good thing. Incidentally, it was the reveal of the "kid's drawing" where the art hit me the hardest.

Kevin Is Unstable by Uraffululz 2021-10-04T18:15:08Z

Thank you for checking out my game! If you liked it, please let me know. If you didn't like it, well, that's certainly fair...better luck next jam....

Kevin Is Unstable by Uraffululz 2021-10-05T04:58:35Z

@darthboseiju Thanks very much. Full disclosure: I did notice that bug at one point, but instantly prioritized something else over it and forgot. I think it has to do with switching his attack from "just working" (in which Kevin would end up dealing damage to the player from across the room) to using a spherecast. I think the issue is that the sphere isn't very big, and starts at Kevin's position, which isn't his center-mass, but at his FEET, so that may be why it's not (or just barely) reaching the lamps. Derp.

Probably could have fixed that in about 10 seconds, but the jam is over, and I have to stand by my product. Maybe after the judging period (or during, if it's allowed) I'll upload a fixed version (clearly-labeled, of course, to prevent confusion) for any bugs anyone finds.

Thanks again! If nothing else, I'll keep such errors in mind for next time.

Kevin Is Unstable by Uraffululz 2021-10-05T09:25:06Z

@jonathan-alderson I noticed that issue also, after uploading. It does seem to be something with the WebGL build. If you choose to download the other version, the rotation works fine.

@ollieoa @arthur-mairs Whatever it takes to make him CALM DOWN!

@appoxgames That flip-out with the toys is just Kevin's way of playing, by keeping his destructive tendencies contained to small household items, rather than unloading on the people around him.I would have added some sounds for Kevin, but wasn't brave or creative enough to attempt recording myself sounding like a little kid.

Thank you all for the feedback!

Kevin Is Unstable by Uraffululz 2021-10-05T09:30:49Z

@pythorogus Haha, indeed. Thank you very much!

Kevin Is Unstable by Uraffululz 2021-10-05T10:06:59Z

@bluecalx I would have liked to add more rooms (maybe a bathroom or garage, but I wanted to keep the parents' room (the other door in the hallway) locked), but wasn't sure if I had time. And yeah, Kevin's "wandering around" is pretty much limited to the living room.

The "no item twice in a row" is actually a solid idea. Wish I'd thought of it haha

Thanks for playing!

Kevin Is Unstable by Uraffululz 2021-10-06T02:49:37Z

@lb01 Thanks for playing! I'm pretty sure that issue has to do with the mouse cursor hitting the edge of one's computer screen. Sorry about that. It's my first time making a first-person jam game, and I didn't foresee that problem. Thankfully, the downloadable version doesn't have that issue, if you'd still care to play.

Kevin Is Unstable by Uraffululz 2021-10-06T04:17:00Z

@proxy-games I totally understand what you mean. I definitely should have done more work with the audio (with at least some sound effects as Kevin eats, or grunts and smacks as Kevin bashes his toys on the ground). Maybe by the next jam I'll learn how to compose some background music for better ambience. I always tend to save the sound-design until the very last, but by then I'm also freaking about submitting before the deadline :disappointed: .

Thank you very much!

Kevin Is Unstable by Uraffululz 2021-10-06T08:31:11Z

@bgdc Thank you! Yes, I developed this myself using Unity, Blender, and the sound recorder on my phone (for the ONE sound in the game).

I should list that in the description. Thanks for reminding me!

Kevin Is Unstable by Uraffululz 2021-10-06T10:55:29Z

@bgdc Thanks! I enjoyed playing your game also!

Kevin Is Unstable by Uraffululz 2021-10-06T13:50:33Z

@ninjacatz Oh yeah. There's definitely something wrong with him.

Thanks for playing!

Kevin Is Unstable by Uraffululz 2021-10-06T18:50:38Z

@duck-reaction Thank you very much! I agree the sound could have been better. I always tend to save it for the very last moments, but maybe next time I'll make it more of a priority (We'll just have to see what fits the LD theme next time :ok_hand: ).

Kevin Is Unstable by Uraffululz 2021-10-06T23:27:14Z

@annearkey Thanks for playing! Sorry for the confusion about the tv. There's no need to interact with it. I guess you could think of it as "already on", since that's where Kevin goes when his blood sugar is above 50%. I did briefly consider trying to add a shader or something to the effect of tv static, but wasn't sure if I had time. Maybe I should have tried making it black and reflective. That would have upped the creepiness for sure.

Kevin Is Unstable by Uraffululz 2021-10-07T01:06:27Z

@tattomoosa Thanks for the tip! Since this is my first attempt at a first-person game in a while (and the first using Unity's new(ish) Input System), I wasn't really sure of all I needed to do.

I have uploaded a fixed Windows download on the itch.io page. I hesitated to do so, since it's outside of the jam time limit, but I checked again and see that it IS allowed by the rules. And if it's making the game completely unplayable, then it needs to be done. Also made sure to post a changelog at the top of the page. Now I just wish I'd known/done this sooner. Everyone so far might have had a better experience :frowning:

The WebGL build still had the same problem, despite the fix, so I've decided to just remove it.

Thanks again for the tip. I hope the game works well for you, if you decide to try it again (I also have multiple monitors, and tested it. I can see now how it compares to the old version).

Kevin Is Unstable by Uraffululz 2021-10-07T17:20:49Z

@xcvzxc Thanks for the heads-up. Seems each time I try to fix something, it works halfway. I'll keep at it. If it's any consolation, you didn't miss much. Basically just a "You Died" screen (anticlimactic, I know). Thanks again!

Kevin Is Unstable by Uraffululz 2021-10-08T06:56:55Z

@tattomoosa Thanks very much for giving this game another chance! I really appreciate your help, and I'm glad you (and everyone else since the fix) had a better experience with it. I get that the game is too easy (if I had had the time, I was considering a "hard mode" where you babysit two kids. Yikes). It was more about implementing the mechanics and making the art, to try something new. I admittedly did only a small bit of "balancing", but who really wants to play a shoddy jam game like this over and over? Nahhh. There are hundreds of new games out there to rate. I don't want people to get hung up on this one for too long  Anyway, I'm rambling. Thanks again!

Kevin Is Unstable by Uraffululz 2021-10-08T06:59:10Z

@fedegelo Thanks for playing! I'll definitely work harder on audio in the future.

Kevin Is Unstable by Uraffululz 2021-10-08T13:19:35Z

Thank you! I agree. I wish I'd had time (or worked faster) to work in a few more gameplay mechanics or play modes, and definitely more audio. I'll definitely keep this all in mind for the next jam. Thanks again!

Kevin Is Unstable by Uraffululz 2021-10-09T16:21:22Z

@zachsbutt Thanks for playing! Agreed, I think I spent too much time on the art and animation (I thought I was saving time by cutting corners with Kevin's animations, but I may have wasted more time doing it by hand. Oof). Also, I'm not well-versed in making first-person games, and had to learn a few things to do it (moderately) well. It's definitely been a good learning experience, though. Plenty of feedback to keep in mind for next time. Thanks again

Kevin Is Unstable by Uraffululz 2021-10-15T14:45:33Z

@nratcliff Thanks very much for playing, and for letting me know about the mac build!

Kevin Is Unstable by Uraffululz 2021-10-17T12:35:46Z

@voodoo51 I totally understand about the animations. I thought I would save time by not using IK, but it turned out to be just the opposite. Also, I wasn't sure I needed the "root bone", which led to EVEN MORE wasted time and effort. I had to do a lot more manual adjustments to the animations than I should have. Definitely a mistake (or two) that I'll try not to repeat in the future, haha! Thanks for the feedback!

Kevin Is Unstable by Uraffululz 2021-10-20T02:14:06Z

@ryjcio I agree with you about the left-click to pick things up. That did occur to me, but only after the jam was over. The E key is usually just my default when making games, so I didn't think about how awkward it might be. Thanks for playing, and for the feedback!

Kevin Is Unstable by Uraffululz 2021-10-21T16:52:38Z

@ucsbdad Thanks a lot! I'm really glad you enjoyed playing!

Unstable Vampire: A Text based Infinite Runner by Dobryn 2021-10-06T05:57:41Z

Very cool game; simple and whimsical. The pacing was a bit fast for me (which is not to say I didn't enjoy the intensity. I totally did), but that's more a problem with my reflexes than my typing speed. Still, I managed to kill ONE vampire (Let that be a lesson to you, pale-skinned vermin of the night). Excellent color choices, also.

I never played games like "Typing of the Dead", but if they're anything like this, maybe I should....

Great work!

Operation Meteor Shower by Seracrooce 2021-10-06T04:03:10Z

Awesome use of physics, and the voice-over was 5-star humor (I genuinely hope the Earth isn't destroyed by a farting asteroid. That would be humiliating. What will the Grays think of us then, you know?).

The biggest issue I had was that the web-build wouldn't fit my screen properly (even in full-screen). Not sure if this is because of the UI scaling? Still, it didn't make the game unplayable. Another issue was that sometimes the planets would find an orbit where they were off-screen for 70+% of the time, and were thus difficult to aim for (But you stayed true to the game's physics, and those physical laws can be a harsh mistress). Still, the game was excellent, and the theme was well executed! Great job!

Operation Meteor Shower by Seracrooce 2021-10-06T06:05:21Z

@seracrooce Using a 1080p monitor, it was about 1.5x the height of my browser window (accounting for things like the address, tab, and bookmark toolbars at the top).

As for the planet distances, I'd imagine that if they're outside the "Goldilocks zone", the asteroid military would consider them "dead enough", haha.

Operation Meteor Shower by Seracrooce 2021-10-09T05:19:23Z

@seracrooce No worries. Jam games are bound to have issues. The game was still fun, challenging, and super funny, and definitely not un-playable. Keep it up!

TECHNUCLEAR by TheGreenWorm 2021-10-12T09:18:02Z

Probably the best mobile game of LD49! I would definitely play a post-jam version of this game.

And a solo compo game? A masterful achievement! Great work!

Unsteady Bounce by Comfy 2021-10-05T09:15:58Z

I had fun with this one. It took a few (or more) failed attempts, but the mechanics and gameplay were solid. I'm glad I persisted, because it's a great little game. And the fact that it was done strictly during the compo (something I failed to do because my idea turned out to be too big) makes it that much better. Great job!

Ethereal Runner by jabsatz 2021-10-06T19:35:25Z

Very cool game! Downloaded to try again later. Great work, team!

New World Disorder by xpoho 2021-10-11T08:51:55Z

I'm going to forego my political opinions, and just say that this was a fine piece of art. It really has the potential to educate people, if expanded and gamified (to keep their attention and make the experience more interactive/persona1).

Makes me think someone should make a "Call of Duty"-style game, but if you die once, you're DONE. No checkpoints. No mercy. You start back at the beginning of the game, or your mission failed and you have to live with the results. Might make people re-think how "cool" war can be and how "badass" they would be under the circumstances. The poor are dying, to keep the rich in power.

Dammit, I said I wouldn't be political, but this game got me heated.

Radio Inactive by Edoardo Talamini 2021-10-06T16:35:51Z

It took me a couple tries, but I managed to survive with 10 seconds left. Who knew you could save the world with "whack-a-mole" skills?

This game looks and plays great, and the alarm sound definitely adds to the intensity (which, I suppose, is what alarms are for. Hmm...). Nice job, team!

Wobble by BGDC 2021-10-06T10:54:12Z

Beautiful game! Love the backgrounds and textures, especially, and the wings lowering each block are amazing! It was definitely a challenging experience, but I managed to make it through all the levels (I had the most difficulty with level 1, haha). Shout out to the sound engineers: The music and SFX were SUPERB!

Great job, team!

A Stable Job by UCSBDad 2021-10-09T14:14:59Z

The first time I played, I "ended it" after day 1. I was like "Nahhhhh."

Thinking there was more to it, maybe something I missed, I played again, lasting 6-7 days (I lost count, just like in real life). This was not fun, even while drunk. YOU NAILED IT.

Still, the audio was cool (But I guess you opted out of audio ratings?), and the character animation was cool. The "cutscene video" is morbid as hell, and really ups the "mood" factor.

I'm not quite clear on the character's "job", though. Pick up a package and take it home? Is he a drug dealer? Ironically, the game is every bit stable, but made me feel mentally UNstable as a result. Kudos.

Click For Living by d3w 2021-10-05T19:24:46Z

I guess this is what Adam did before Eve came around. I'm just going to assume this is universal canon.

Seriously, though, this is an excellent project. Nice graphics, excellent audio, and thoughtful gameplay. What more can you ask for?

In Balance by OlayColay 2021-10-10T19:32:38Z

Definitely has room for potential. For now, the combat system is WAY too complicated to not have a tutorial or on-screen info for the different elemental attacks and block. I couldn't keep track, and had to keep checking back to this page for the info (as it wasn't listed on the itch.io page). I feel like you could have done just 3-4 elements, and the effect would have been the same, but that much simpler. With the "combo attack" system, I could definitely see combat playing out like something akin to "The Legend of Dragoon", but with an elemental twist. Would be cool to see, if you decided to continue with this project.

The music seemed a bit loud, but that's adjustable, so ultimately not a problem. However, it was interspersed with totally silent dialogue scenes. Kind of jarring.

Solid graphics for a jam game.

Minor/personal inconveniences: The player moves a bit too fast for my liking. Moving slower would allow the player to take in the environments you're working so hard to build. Also, the in-game dialogue system is a bit slow, but if you press Space to try to "fast forward" the text, it just skips through and closes the dialogue box. Kind of annoying, but just requires more patience.

This idea may have been too big for a game jam, but definitely has potential. And considering the time-limit, there are definitely going to be flaws. Still, the prototype is solid, if a little too complicated. I'm sure it took a lot of work, and it shows.

Unstable Cat by wvbz 2021-10-06T06:30:07Z

Fun, adorable game! Excellent art and audio (though the background music was too bit loud for me).

Got a high score of 106.

the cards we're dealt by rainedoe 2021-10-05T21:39:39Z

Beautiful game! Loved the narrative, art and music. I also learned that it will probably take me several lifetimes to achieve emotional stability. I don't know if true happiness is attainable, but I sure didn't do it here....

Still, I enjoyed this experience. That's a good start. Great work, everyone!

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Crazy plant lady. by limered 2022-04-14T09:40:26Z

Great game, and a nice reminder to stay single, and plant-free.

Large Number Collider by Shigor 2022-04-15T09:26:15Z

Played the mobile version. Excellent job! I've never played 2048, but this is fun!

Last Contact by Cethin 2022-04-15T06:34:37Z

Mobile version doesn't really work. I can't seem to move my ships (by just guessing at the controls, since they're not explained anywhere I could see), and Earth gets immediately destroyed by the first alien ship. Good concept, though.

Descending by pev 2022-04-08T10:38:10Z

Played the android version. Excellent game, with a lot of potential for additional mechanics and such. Very cool.

Procrabstination by sebastianscaini 2022-04-14T10:59:35Z

Excellent commitment to a joke! I played the android version. Shell-phiroth got me a couple times, but eventually my fingers limbered up and he went down. Then I realized I was stuck in the minigame and it just kept looping. Still, lots of fun. Great job!

Death is The End by Wren Erickson 2022-04-07T17:59:51Z

Awesome design and graphics. Nice story, and fast-paced fun (wait, that was EASY mode? Jeez). Especially great to see a compo game with this much detail added. Great work!

Save The Dinosuars by ScalphaMission 2022-04-14T09:17:37Z

Great jam game! The Android version is a lot of fun!

Dungeon Dummies by Jozef 2022-04-09T22:40:19Z

One of the best I've played yet for LD50. Definitely a challenge, but I'm glad I stuck with it to the hilarious ending. Great job!

Stay Positive by Nick Barrash 2022-04-19T16:36:00Z

I grew more positive in this game, than I ever have in real life! What a shame....

Great game!

The Death Pit Will Have You! by Uraffululz 2022-04-03T18:51:58Z

Something simple, with more potential than I could exploit in 2 days of development.

Thanks to everyone for playing my Ludum Dare 50 submission. Enjoy some great games!

You Are A Bomb by Benjamin Halko 2022-04-12T20:51:27Z

The android version is excellent!

Brilliant Tetris adaptation. The mobile version is lots of fun.

What the Hell? by GlorifiedPig 2022-04-07T17:30:36Z

Great game. Fun, and the audio was EXCELLENT!

Deathly Delay by MasterOfCheese 2022-04-14T10:08:23Z

Great little collection of minigames. The cat-throwing needs a little work (or I just need to suck at throwing it less), but the android version was still a lot of fun!

It's like they knew... by boc_dev 2022-04-13T16:05:34Z

This is a great, relatively-unique game concept, and put together very well for a jam game. Great job!

Pillage Quest by phats604 2022-04-13T16:31:41Z

Simple, but fun. I could definitely see this being expanded on. Good job!

Nature Is Healing by KingOfSpill 2022-04-13T16:48:07Z

Great atmosphere of isolation, just waiting for danger around every corner. Excellent horror game!

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Ten-Second Murder by lectvs 2022-10-05T07:33:30Z

Pretty fun. Makes me want to go start a murder mystery of my own.

Wait...That's not what I meant.

Psycho Chaos by Gorr 2022-10-05T02:16:24Z

Good, fun idea, but the enemies are a little too "healthy", and the seizures last too long. Graphics are good, though, and the "wobbliness" of the environment seems an appropriate feature that provides that extra bit of challenge. Good work.

Laby10s by Patrick Premartin 2022-10-04T21:28:47Z

I appreciate the few mobile games that come through with each Ludum Dare. I like being able to participate, even at work.

This was a fun little game, and traversing the levels feels like a fairly unique puzzle. I could definitely see this expanded to be a fast-paced time-killer. That little bug is adorable.

RandoBots by Brusi 2022-10-04T21:43:48Z

Great, fast-paced fun. With some tuning on the controls, this would be a fun little multiplayer game. The animations and audio were especially awesome.

Choo Choo Crossing by Hydezeke 2022-10-15T17:22:40Z

Oh man. The low-poly style and chill, but upbeat music definitely gave me some Katamari vibes. That's NEVER a bad thing.

Interspersed by Uraffululz 2022-10-03T17:15:59Z

Hello everyone! Thanks for playing!

Well, Ludum Dare has come again, and another weekend has actually been put to some good use, instead of...no, wait, I did all the stuff I normally do to waste time. But I also did THIS!

I hope you enjoy the game, and I'd love to know what you think, so leave a rating and a comment!

Interspersed by Uraffululz 2022-10-04T22:05:49Z

@lautilaj Thanks. Yeah, I'm not very confident in my audio abilities, so the most my games usually get is a sound effect or two haha. Most of my time (like, an uncomfortable amount) was spent figuring out how to make the worlds similar (mechanically), but different (thematically)...and more than a bit of struggling with the models and animations. At that point, I was in kind of a hurry to finish haha.

@schadocalex Yeah, I probably could have explained the "combining" a bit better, especially since all the actions are on one button. Thanks for the feedback.

Interspersed by Uraffululz 2022-10-15T05:14:08Z

@ninjavitis Thanks. The combination mechanic definitely should have been explained better (that criticism has come up a lot more than I expected). And I can see how the "acid heart" is totally obscure. I was rushing myself too much, and trying to keep the models simple, but maybe I could have taken the extra time. Now that I think of it, "venom heart" might have made more sense, with the monster's snake-like body. Still not quite obvious enough, though. Should have just given it attachable claws or something. Definitely something for me to learn for the next jam.

Interspersed by Uraffululz 2022-10-16T06:27:25Z

@nardandas Thank you for the response. I do (now) see how I could have made some of the combinations more intuitive.

And a special thanks for giving me my 20th ratings, so I can get some idea of my overall score. I really appreciate it!

Blades of Doom by Benjamin Halko 2022-10-05T01:37:19Z

Excellent game! Definitely intense and engaging. Great audio, too.

The Therapy by Mika314 2022-10-16T03:47:41Z

Very cool concept and execution, but the click-movement is frustrating, and it begs to have WASD controls. Excellent artwork and animations, too, and the camera transitions were very cool!

Red and Black's Discommunicative Communication by chitoyuu 2022-10-05T03:22:17Z

Nice game. Not sure why it ended so abruptly, but I'm satisfied. It's refreshing that 10 seconds seems relatively chill-paced compared to other, more hectic games in this jam. Excellent work, especially for a Compo. Screenshot (50).png

Time to master by Woodpecker233 2022-10-16T04:30:15Z

@juxipolo Pretty much my thoughts. Great idea, but frustrating at that part, and I'm pretty sure I legit experienced vertigo for the first time in my life while playing this (drunk), due to the disruptive numbers and off-beat ticking.

That's fantastic, though. To think that such a common perception can be so (even slightly) fundamentally flawed, and easily disrupted, is really interesting. I can definitely see how altering the idea a bit could, for real, be used as a method of torture. (That's a compliment).

Very good job. I just need a minute.

TicTacCat by Kerioth 2022-10-05T03:02:30Z

Takes a couple playthroughs to get the hang of it, but that's fine. There's a lot going on, and it seems to all be functional. "Restart" button at the end wouldn't work for me, though. Not sure if that's because of my screen resolution or what. Good work!

LD52 — Harvest

Mr Drills Kandy Harvest by LordMiji 2023-01-15T18:08:29Z

Good concept, it just needs more variety in goals and/or levels

The Dealer by Porcus_Pie 2023-01-15T21:09:27Z

Wow! This was one of the most fun games I've played this jam. Simple enough, but it definitely gets intense as people grow more and more impatient. "Just wait 10 seconds and I'll get your marrow! Jeez!" And it's a Compo? Holy crap! Great job, dude! (P.S.: I'd love a windows download that I can save in my "LD52 Favorites" folder. I like to replay some of my favorite games from each jam sometimes.)

'Arr-vest by ThePelranthean 2023-01-22T18:26:37Z

Excellent game! Simple, but strategic and fast-paced. Great job with the controls.

🥕 Grow a Carrot! 🥕 by pauljs 2023-01-13T18:27:55Z

Cool concept. We'll see about the execution. See you in time for LD53, if I remember.

Harvest Looper by madcoil 2023-01-15T20:45:20Z

Excellent job, and nailed the theme! I could definitely see the potential for a full-on survival/crafting/exploration game using these basics.

Scythe of Souls by xaviarrob123 2023-01-10T02:26:37Z

Great game for such little time. The art and music were especially great.

Bullet Harvest by upcharlie 2023-01-10T15:39:12Z

Well, I suck at bullet-hell games just as much as I thought I did. Still, the 15 seconds I managed to survive each time were fun, and the art and audio are great! I may come back to this one. I still want to beat that corn!

Moon Festival by Teto 2023-01-11T00:34:00Z

Great game! It was a bit repetitive, but that's not really a bad thing when the game is so fun to play. I only wish there were more cards with fun effects like the rest.

The Harvester by MarkElliott 2023-01-15T17:53:32Z

Love the PS1 graphics. Tank controls were a bit surprising and awkward, but overall a really cool project.

Funny enough, a similar concept popped into my head when the theme was announced, but I ultimately chose to go a different direction. I'm glad to see someone went with the "vengeful scarecrow" idea.

BloodMage by Uraffululz 2023-01-08T19:59:12Z

Hello all!

I made it with 3 minutes to spare!

Let me know what you think. I may be able to use your feedback to fix the jankiness of this game in time to release an additional "Jam" version

BloodMage by Uraffululz 2023-01-08T21:42:13Z

@maymay Thanks for the input. I was definitely having issues with the animations for the duration of the jam (as well as a few other constant issues). Thought I got them worked out, but I wasn't 100% sure. Sorry you weren't able to finish. The level stops after defeating a boss at the end (a few minutes in), and there's an exit at the other side.

There is also a "secret" ending, for anyone who cares to invest their time (and can make it to the end in spite of the bugs).

Thank you for your feedback

BloodMage by Uraffululz 2023-01-09T06:10:00Z

@the3rdhunter Thanks for the info. I'm definitely gonna have to upload a fixed version.

With all the jankiness in this game, I'm surprise that's the bug that's standing out the most, haha.

BloodMage by Uraffululz 2023-01-09T17:14:50Z

@maymay @the3rdhunter I think I may have fixed that animation, if you care to try again. Hopefully you won't run into any problems this time. Thanks again for your feedback.

BloodMage by Uraffululz 2023-01-09T23:55:12Z

@jonqs Thank you! Yeah, I should probably slow down the attack animations and increase the size of the hit box. I was trying to inspire precision in attacking and comboing, but I don't think the game is developed enough for that requirement. I don't want the game to feel unfair.

Edit: I went ahead and made those fixes, and uploaded the new version (and downloads) to the itch.io page.

BloodMage by Uraffululz 2023-01-11T00:09:21Z

@jaywoody @bezbiletnym Thank you both! I really liked this idea, and I'm glad to see it has potential for an audience. I might have to continue working on this one in the future.

BloodMage by Uraffululz 2023-01-12T00:11:16Z

Thank you very much! I definitely would have liked to add more enemy types (archers and such). Maybe I should have thought longer about at least changing the colors on the spear guys to make them look different too.

BloodMage by Uraffululz 2023-01-18T19:39:42Z

@epa Oh, they can die. It just takes a long time. I didn't really take time to balance this, but I also didn't want it to feel unfair, so they ended up being super overpowered, especially when they attack in numbers. Thanks for playing!

Reap N' Sou-l by Wolfox121 2023-01-10T00:55:40Z

Beautiful game, and with a good challenge. Tried to play a few times, but I kept getting stuck in place and couldn't do anything (same thing happened to some of the demons, too), so I couldn't make it past day 2. Not sure if it's a problem with the animations, or the movement mechanics, or something else. The music was great, also. Overall, this game was excellent.

Soul Season by goldenXD 2023-01-10T01:23:05Z

I lost track of how much time I spent in this game. Thousands of souls harvested. Very repetitive, but that's not a bad thing in this case. It was a lot of fun for such a simple idea.

The Cave Mushroom by PSV Games Studio 2023-01-15T17:37:07Z

Excellent little puzzle game. Being able to pick up the batteries if a mistake is made, or reload the puzzle wpuld be nice. I could definitely see the potential for development into a full game.

Cosmic Dust by Rhanzoc 2023-01-18T04:08:19Z

Fun little game. Movement gets a bit wonky around the planet's "poles" (I've tried an idea like this before, and that bugginess seems familiar haha), but still fun to play.

Reap Its Future by PassbyKamenRider 2023-01-08T22:54:52Z

You're all grown up, Damien (my plant's name).

This was a great little story, and I think you nailed the parent-child relationship dynamic you were going for. I also think I spoiled my plant too much.

My biggest critique is that the text moves too slowly. Still, it was worth the wait to reach the end of the game. I really enjoyed seeing Damien grow.

Crop Season by chaikadev 2023-01-15T17:27:21Z

Great game. A few minor inconveniences within the mechanics, but nothing too bad (especially for a jam game).

TurnUp by bcmpinc 2023-01-10T04:41:32Z

Oh man, that was fun. I couldn't see if I was getting any robots though, so I couldn't reach any more milestones after a while. Not sure what happened there, but it was an enjoyable experience overall, and very funny too.

Seed Your Weed by LordDrw 2023-01-26T16:31:55Z

Pretty chill game, and a good job for your first jam game. Needs some polish and direction though. Also not sure why you listed it as a compo game, since you admit you didn't make the character model yourself. Kind of cheapens the hard work the rest of us solo devs put in to make our crappy art (and also means you lied during the submission phase). Good job though.

CelestialPersperation Hollow by derpygamer2142 2023-01-13T09:25:39Z

Not sure why you released an android version with no working controls (besides looking at the finger position). Maybe you just assumed nobody would play it?

Its harvest time by EPA 2023-01-18T02:10:58Z

Cool little fast-paced puzzle game. Definitely needs instructions

Scrapseed by scumhead 2023-01-14T01:22:19Z

Great little story. Gameplay was a bit lacking, but compo games have to make sacrifices (I know mine did). Would be great to see more of this story. Awesome job!

Grim Harvester by zbugba 2023-01-18T01:59:38Z

Great concept, but kinda slow and buggy. Good fun!
