You're all grown up, Damien (my plant's name).

This was a great little story, and I think you nailed the parent-child relationship dynamic you were going for. I also think I spoiled my plant too much.

My biggest critique is that the text moves too slowly. Still, it was worth the wait to reach the end of the game. I really enjoyed seeing Damien grow.

@uraffululz Thanks for you suggestions! Yeah I realized the text moves too slow just after the submission deadline, the text speed now is set to 10 chars/sec, maybe 20 chars/sec works better. Thank you for playing!

It really took me a long time to understand it.After getting its meaning,I finally understand how to play this game. All in all, very cool!

Loved the little story that took place each day! I was a bit confused at first what was causing happiness to go down, didn't realize you needed to use the scissors even when there was no plant visible in the pot  I wonder if it would be fun to only have the happiness meter appear at the turning point in the story, and have it be more effected by the type of responses you give. Although maybe it does and I didn't notice since I only ever picked the nice responses haha.

passbykamenrider 2023-01-09 04:55

@hypernoodlejon Yeah I planned to make happniess affected by the type of responses and scissors should be used to remove weeds, but I realized I didn't get enough time to draw extra sprites for the weeds so I made scissors to increase happiness, which is confusing.

And the responses have hidden counters to decide the ending. There're 3 different endings.

I also can't look after a digital plant i let it die :x: the first run. Nice and relaxing game.

While playing I was really looking forward to what my plant will say in next day and I enjoyed the whole experience of the game. I was also impressed by how you make things you’ve been thinking into a game in a creative way.

Very lovely little game (and I feel evil when sometimes I'm not choosing the good anwser  ). Same remark as above, text are a little bit slow and requires patience to play the game.

Really sweet game... I definitely got attached to my little plant. I like how you took a simple concept and made it into something that brought out lots of feelings

Relaxing gameplay and I really like achievements.

cloughd 2023-01-10 06:56

Oh man as soon as I had given my plant a name it was over. I was hooked. This is a neat little experience, especially if you like taking care of plants IRL like I do. The achievements were a nice addition.

Fitting game to the theme with relaxing music and dialog. The UI and the color pallete choice also work well with the overall feel of the game. One feedback I have is that I would need to wait 20 sec or so everytime I talk to the plant, even though I can finish reading the dialog in like 4 seconds. Perhaps remove the wait time can make the the gameplay experience much smoother.

poboy 2023-01-11 04:08

I teared up at the end. I started out being sort of frustrated at the slowness of the dialogue, but by the end of it I was really relishing the time it took for the dialogue to come on screen.

I chose the first option for the first half of the game, and then went with mostly the second option. I am a non-parent but this game feels like it captures some really essential part of parenting and I totally understand the impulse to over-protect.

Music was really nice too. Great game!

joshuarabbit 2023-01-12 01:01

The concept is interesting. I can check what I have done everyday!

But there are some points can be improved in terms of interaction and feedback.

1. It would be better if we can click to make the dialog of beginning shows up in shorter time because it cost about 15-20 seconds, which is too long for player.

2. When player take care of the plant, for example, watering, it will be better if there is some visual feedback or sound effect. Because players may ignore the status bar on the top and get confused about what is the feedback of their input.

Love your game! The story is really interesting and loved choosing my options. The parent & child relatioship is super complicated and a great subject to explore. What I took away is that you're never going to always select the right thing to say but there is always tomorrow to be better. Great Job!

vivek-sharma20 2023-01-12 18:18

Hey congratulations on finishing the game. The User Interface elements are designed well, though the game moves at a little slow pace for me. Its a unique game so points for that. Color theme is nice and subtle and so is music

ravernt 2023-01-12 18:44

The game is very simple but I like it. It has nice music, art and story. I only wish that the text moved way faster.

pushmepullyu 2023-01-13 06:41

The text comes in a little too slow but the story is heartwarming :D

lfreinoso 2023-01-17 00:57

Very nice, relaxing and contemplative. I read your message at the end, I thought it was really cool to break the third wall and talk about gamedev, I hope it improves the prototype, good luck and congratulations.

Very sweet. I like that it encouraged me to actually read all the answers, and at one point, I felt my tone and choice in answers changing. First time it got all rebellious on me, it got a decent "Excuse me, young plant!" response.

- Agree with all the rest that the text needs speeding up, and a click to autocomplete feature.

- Ended up finding the happiness scissors by clicking everything, as I didn't associate them with happiness.
