Fun game, I did have some issues with the exe from your site. I had to unzip that exe and run the 2nd take exe to get the game to run but otherwise it was a nice game.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD49 → Interstellar Highway Robbery

@neverwinsthegame
I'll see what I can do to make sure nobody else has these kinds of problems. Thanks a lot for playing by the way!
EDIT: turns out that's just how Game Maker compresses larger games to fit in a standalone .exe, go figure
I had a great time on that game ! The graphics are really cool, the gameplay loop is fun ! The only reason I stopped playing was the lack of sound. But if you release a post-jam version with all that, I will gladly play it! Awesome job !
Very Great Game I Love The Graphics And The Really Awesome Gameplay
Absolutely in love with the artstyle, so simple, but the choice of colors and overall art direction is amazing! i feel like that this game suffers a lot for the lack of audio :( , cant wait to try a post-jam version with it, great job!
This was a really fun time! I wish I had more time to play it, this is legitimately the kind of game I would expect to pay for on Steam! You've actually convinced me to donate on the itch page, the level of detail and polish you managed to achieve in such a short amount of time is insane. My only complaints are the lack of instructions at the beginning for what you're supposed to do, and naturally the lack of sound. Sound design would seriously elevate this game to even greater heights, and I would love to see where you take this game in the future. Seriously, amazing job.
Wow, the graphical style is amazing! Despite the lack of audio I think you nailed the gameplay! Good job!
Really cool game! I was a bit confused at what to do at times but I could see this game becoming much more in the future.
Absolutely loved this. Will definitely be playing it more as well. My only qualm is that I wished there was a map for when you entered a new ship. I also encountered a bug where I ended up in one of the orange crates.Still though, a fast paced and fun arcade game. All it really needs is a map for the new ship you enter and maybe a few more enemy types and you have a really good game on your hands. Solid entry
@kwiper To say that I'm incredibly flattered is an understatement, thank you so much for donating! I'll add your suggestion on my to-do list!
@badpiggy The map idea is actually something I thought about - I didn't have enough time to add it, though. Still, it's on the to-do list as well!
A version with temporary minimal SFX as well as some minor tweaks (like removing the one crate you can get stuck inside in the green ship) will be coming in a day or two, separate from the on-time version ofc!
That's very, very cool! Dynamic and catchy gameplay, stylish look, old-school spirit, interesting idea, and all this made by the one-man army! It's not that hard and you understand fast enough what you should do, even without a minimap or something, it brings a touch of hardcore where you should operate fast to survive. It's not about exploration, it's about drive and adrenaline rush. I personally prefer it to be a bit more faster, hoho. Good job, develop it further and it will bring you success.
The fact that this was made by 1 person in so little time is astounding! It is fast and tactical at the same time and forces player to make fast decisions. With a bit of progression with couple of difficulty spikes it would be even better.
Love the aesthetic, and very cool map generation going on! Tight gameplay. I like that the streaming lights outside the airship also provide an intuitive sense of which direction is forward besides looking really cool.
One thing that could improve - the fonts aren't very recognisable and easy to parse. Also, you sometimes get spawned inside a crate or outside the ship.
i just love the feel of this! it looks awesome!
Amazing graphics, flight mechanics and solid entry overall!
I really like this, could make use of some audio though, also i found a glitched, i spawned in a box on my second run, and found myself out of bounds, but quickly found my way back in, also if you look up in the air, your camera can sometimes switch to the other side, but overall this is some really cash moni stuff, i would love to see it turned into a full game
Great movement, sharp shooting, satisfying combat and a great artstyle! Waiting for the version with audio!
I love this! If you add audio and some progression it would be sweet!
I like the concept. It has a Role Playing touch I'd like to see further developed. Honestly, if it was multiplayer, playing with a team where everyone plays his role would be really awesome. Even though it has been said before, I agree that the lack of sound is sad. Though that's really the only thing I didn't like... Great work !
Super fun game! I love the visual style, and the gameplay of jumping from ship to ship is so frantic (in a good way). The first person animations are also so nice looking, especially the hacking. I did spawn in a crate a few times after jumping between ships, but it was just a minor issue. Great job overall!
I like the artwork and animation very much. Fun gameplay as well. It would have been even better if it had audio.
Very fun game! I enjoyed how fast paced it is. The concept reminds of Void Bastards, but I enjoy the pace in your game much more. Good job overall!
This game looks amazing! The shooting part is really tight and enjoyable too!
I wish there was some sick soundtrack to back it up. But hey you can add it post-jam!
I was streaming my playthrough of some games and made a recording of it. I hope it will be helpful for you to see a first-time player's perspective of your game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88rtTOXawsw I'm starting to play your game at 39:52
Awesome aesthetic, this game has a really well polished art style. The ship controls are really fun as a contrast to the shooting, I like how the cargo ships duck and weave out of your way that's a nice touch.
Only issues were the lack of audio, and that the fonts are a bit hard to read/instructions disappear too quickly.
Great work!
A really cool game! So many different parts, and they all feel very polished. Even without sound the gun feels satisfying to shoot, and I believe it'd be amazing with sound. I think that's the only thing that I miss from this game really, but the lack of it is understandable considering the time limitations. And that you sometime spawn inside a big crate when crashing into a ship, but you can get out of it quite easily. Everything else is spot on. Great job!
This is an extremely charming and endearing game. The aesthetics are great and more than make up for the lack of sound. While the gameplay loop is a bit basic, at the same time it is also very satisfying thanks to the little side-step animation you added. Also, jumping from ship to ship is a cool mechanic that reminds me a lot of Heat Signature. This definitely has expansion potential.
I'm amazed of what you produced with gamemaker. Really cool game. I love the art
Really great stuff! I loved the look and the concept, which was pretty well-executed. The controls were good, my one real gripe was that I think it would have been greatly improved by music or sound design, that bogged it a bit for me, but everything that was in there was very nice indeed.
super cool game, I ended up loosing when I ended up outside the level after one of the jump transitions, I'm not sure if that was intentional to fit the theme better haha. It reminded me a lot of void bastards which is also great.
The visuals are amazing in this game! I wish i could spend all my space dosh tho.
The only only audio cue I needed was where I was being shot from, and maybe a heads-up as to where an enemy might be in the room. Shooting was fun nonetheless.
Like someone else said, it's not so much an exploration game, as it is an adrenaline run. Once I decided to ignore SD and just go for max number of ships in a run, that's when the game got a little more interesting, and the theme became a little more present.
My strategy became find the command module, killing everything in my path, and then go back and loot until say 30s left. I would have really liked for the blue crates to provide me with an extra 30s of oxygen.
Even though the theme is unstable and all... would have been nice to have a rest area, a moment of stability, like as soon as you board a new ship, you are in a safe room, and once you open the door the oxygen starts depleting.
I like spaceships stories in pixel art and here it's made at a great level, very cool colors and interesting mechanics + for very delicate camera movements. I played the jam version and I will definitely play upgrade one. Good luck with your transition to Godot, I know how laborious is 3d in a GameMaker. Good Job! :star::star::star::star::star:
Great idea with collapsing ships! Nice FPS experience! Somehow it reminds me Void Bastards, same overall vibe)
Really enjoyed the take on the theme and the idea of crashing into the other ships. Graphics were clean and the music made it feel that much more hectic. Great job!
Very cool game! Loved the graphics (the box "lights" are definitely a nice touch). I didn't make it too far (my oxygen depleted faster than I could keep up with), but I definitely look forward to seeing how you develop this game. And all that as a solo Compo game? *Martial arts bow*
Nice game ! Gameplay loop is simple yet very fun, replayability is welcome, and art is smooth for that type of game. I like the way you added the oxygen inside one type of box in your revisited version, that add a lots more pressure and hurry (in a good way !). A detail but the music you also added fits well ! Very nice entry, though there is a lack of connection with the theme but that's okay !
Such a nice entry ! Congratz !
Really love the idea and presentation. This kind of aesthetic is my cup of tea. I wish the gunplay had a bit more impact, that part lacks some crucial gamefeel. Other than that this is really solid ldjam entry.
*Holy shit!* This game looks phenomenal! And only *ONE PERSON MADE IT!!* **_DURING THE COMPO!!!_**
Good god! Skimming through your other entries, this one reigns SUPREME among graphics! *Perfect* send-off for GameMaker Studio 1.4, unlike my disaster of an entry.
Game loop is also pretty good, though I feel it's a little barren.
As other people have said, there's no audio in the original build; but in the revised version, the audio is *WAY* too quiet! I had to turn my my volume to **90%** to even barely hear the sound! Normally things are alright at ~16-20%.
There's not too much to say here, this game is AMAZING, and you should give yourself a REAL pat on the back for this one! Bravo, man!
This game is super cool game. I really like first person shooting games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Call of Duty and Valorant.
