LD44 — Your life is currency

Gladiator Souls by hadesfury 2019-04-30T11:42:33Z

I really enjoyed playing this

Slime, Blood and Pain by Steffo 2019-05-09T01:33:22Z

This was pretty fun could have done with a bit more progression and challenge but it looks like time was an issue :D It was an enjoyable little game

Tensilver [HTML] by seizethedia 2019-04-30T23:28:25Z

I have to say that guy looks a bit like a... anyway this was cool although i found i often fumbled the coins

Ocean Ecobalancer by TheCrittersCove 2019-04-30T23:03:34Z

Fun game I ended up with a pretty successful underwater paradise... unless you were a fish... if you were a fish then it was probably more like hell :D

Vampire Escape by Copito 2019-04-30T02:08:34Z

If anyone sees freezes / crashes could you comment saying what happened? Some of the UX is a bit unfinished so it's not always obvious which parts can be clicked (Especially the to town button in the bottom left)

Vampire Escape by Copito 2019-04-30T12:45:32Z

You draw new cards at the start of each day, once you've used all your cards for the day you need to rest to draw new ones. You can run out of cards against an enemy but i didn't want the game to force you to rest as this would mean you couldn't go to the shop after running out of cards. The game is pretty difficult but it can be completed with a little bit of luck!

Vampire Escape by Copito 2019-04-30T22:50:54Z

I totally agree Ryan thanks. I ran out of time pretty hard and didn't have a chance to complete a lot of the polish i wanted to add. For example you're supposed to beable to burn cards in the incinerator at the back of the town but alas out of time. I think if i do a second version of this game i'll probably put the draw and discard piles on screen and animate the movement of the cards so people can see exactly what's happening.

Vampire Escape by Copito 2019-05-01T10:31:29Z

@team-on you should always be able to return to the city but yeah if you run out of cards on the last battle it really should immediately kill you rather than requiring you to go back and rest. I Think i'll do a 1.1 version of this game that will work that way and also allow you to burn cards in the incinerator

Vampire Escape by Copito 2019-05-01T21:24:00Z

Hey, sorry the balance wasn't to your taste, my friends and I tested the balance quite a lot and feel it's about where we want it. If I do another version I might add difficulty levels so that you have the option to beat the boss in 20 days instead of 10

Vampire Escape by Copito 2019-05-02T11:24:20Z

That's excellent feedback @vimlark thanks so much! I'm going to do a new version of this so I'll make sure I fix being able to use bread at full health and make sure the splash screens stay up until you click rather than randomly disappearing after 2 seconds.

Vampire Escape by Copito 2019-05-03T00:44:48Z

Thanks everyone for the feedback! There's a trick to buying super sword but i don't want to spoil it here. I think the missing enemy bug is basically if you go back into a dungeon room other than the rat room after previously leaving you can't return so you end up going back to the rat room (Which is empty since you already killed it) So you need to go back and rest in this situation. I'll change this in an upcoming version so you just go straight back to the monster you were fighting.

Vampire Escape by Copito 2019-05-19T20:31:37Z

thunderstone quest perhaps @kristinamay? :D this game was loosely based on thunderstone quest and star realms, I'm glad you enjoyed it anyway!

Cucumber by Uriel Bromberg 2019-04-30T01:39:05Z

I was enjoying this but i got stuck on the first double jump and couldn't seem to reach the platform

They ran out of mana by Sergi Montaner 2019-04-30T22:33:57Z

This was really fun, I enjoyed it! For my taste it could have been a little bit harder!

Gather Drone by Vimlark 2019-05-02T11:35:27Z

This was very polished for 48 hours. It reminded me a lot of rogue-lands and it would have been nice to see some of the mechanics from that game used to add more challenge (for example an enemy type that persistently chases you while no-clipping with the terrain). Fun little game though!

100 leaves by neverix 2019-05-01T13:27:25Z

WTF are the pepsons trying to do to my tree.... nooooooooooo

Faery Tales by Ryan Wine 2019-04-30T21:26:48Z

I had fun with this game probably the one i've enjoyed most so far!

LD45 — Start with nothing

Homie The Homeless by KekkoDude 2019-10-07T14:03:00Z

I couldn't really work out what i was supposed to be doing in this, after getting off the bus i seemed to just be able to very slowly walk around, i guess i'm missing something!

The Pumpking by WFMG 2019-10-08T16:33:38Z

This wasn't bad but lacks polish. Adding a ray cast to the camera to stop it clipping through walls and making sure the player auto restarts the level when falling in spike pits would have been great improvements for me.

Slinger by Bungalow 2019-10-07T14:45:43Z

this was probably my favorite game i've played so far from ld45 although i didn't complete it. I found it became quite mechanically challenging but I didn't feel that much excitement to practice the more difficult sections repeatedly (I got to the 2nd section with the wall jump + sing) IIRC in ori you have a small pause / slow motion window when grabbing a grapple point thingy, i feel a mechanic like that might make the game a bit easier to control.

ZERO: UNDIVIDED HEROES by DjindeGames 2019-10-10T19:16:48Z

This was fun although i found the "loose" camera a bit uncomfortable personally. Over all i enjoyed the game though! Good job

FromNothing by Copito 2019-10-07T11:12:56Z

Hey thanks for the feedback guys. I don't think you can go faster by moving diagonally however you do move faster when you're not hungry.. I have now verified the diagonal move speed bug but i think since it's mechanical it'd be against the spirit of the jam to fix it now

I think the camera shake is just against objects where i ran out of time to make a mask.. so you're colliding with the noisy messy alpha channel... sorry! :(

FromNothing by Copito 2019-10-07T12:11:29Z

@happysnake ah sorry i just realized i didn't answer your question. Yeah that's right first step is to spawn enemies, then you need to get a weapon and fight your way to the second brazier which is the end of the game. It might be possible to get to the second brazier without a weapon but... eh probably not :D you're supposed to get the weapon first anyway

FromNothing by Copito 2019-10-07T15:50:35Z

thanks @piturnah i'm happy you liked it! Sorry there wasn't an ending once you hit the second alter and everything goes green that's the end of the game. Good job getting there without the sword you must have crazy dodging skills!

FromNothing by Copito 2019-10-07T17:31:28Z

hey @christophebessette thanks for playing my game! Do you have any thoughts on how i could have made the start easier? I considered making it so that you don't start to get hungry until you start moving but at the same time i wanted to push the player to move towards the apples rather than going and exploring the later areas

FromNothing by Copito 2019-10-07T17:41:09Z

@christophebessette hm there shouldn't be any monsters until the first alter is activated, until then your goal is just to survive using the placed apples and explore the world until you find the alter. If you managed to reach the southern alter before the northern one then... eh that's a bug but i don't think that should be possible

FromNothing by Copito 2019-10-07T20:49:47Z

@igoreshka I've added a 32 bit version. Sorry i didn't really consider some people might need 32bit

FromNothing by Copito 2019-10-07T21:04:54Z

@igoreshka it might be your computer doesn't support a recent enough glversion, the game requires gles3 support I think that would mean a nvidia 8 series or above. Sorry about that

FromNothing by Copito 2019-10-07T22:41:05Z

@rusty-jim i was like surely i didn't do something as dumb as double speed when moving diagonally.. that can't be right... double checked the code... yep i screwed it up... BUGGER xD now i feel really stupid... never mind... sorry! i can't fix it now :P

FromNothing by Copito 2019-10-07T23:45:22Z

@silkworm-sweatshop um you're not meant to be able to get the knife before spawning enemies :P... how did you manage to do that haha

FromNothing by Copito 2019-10-08T00:18:00Z

@silkworm-sweatshop :P i gave this a go i think it requires you to know the map well enough that i'm fine with it as a... creative strategy :P originally you could only have 4 stored food which also prevented you short cutting to the end without getting the knife but i changed it right before release since i thought running out of food was a bit annoying while fighting monsters.... Never mind! :P

FromNothing by Copito 2019-10-08T21:00:07Z

thanks @kushimoto i'm super happy to have someone notice the skeleton movement, i worked hard on that! :D

FromNothing by Copito 2019-10-09T17:41:00Z

@shrapx hey thanks for playing my game! Glad you liked it, I watched through your stream and it looks like you got through it pretty much as intended. :D (And sorry about the lack of an ending I ran out of time to even just hook up a bit of text :( )

FromNothing by Copito 2019-10-14T14:21:21Z

Thanks for the feedback all, I always find the difficulty of games hard to decide on. I like difficult and punishing games personally so this probably errs a bit towards my tastes! Sorry!

Overthought by JakobTheQuizGuy 2019-10-07T10:48:18Z

this was pretty cool although i also couldn't figure out what the power ups did after smell

Robo-Fort by geoff.nagy 2019-10-08T20:58:10Z

seems to work ok now, i'm surprised it was down to vram though, my gpu has 6GB.. that must have been 1 mighty sprite sheet!

LD46 — Keep it alive

Samurai Slow Down by CreamyBacon2 2020-04-22T01:37:10Z

The style is pretty cool but i couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do, perhaps a bit of description text explaining the controls above would help

Luciole by LaJazuve 2020-04-23T00:38:45Z

the art style is cool but this feels very unfinished to me, i wasn't really sure what to do other than walk back and forth

Life Plug by JuanJ7 2020-04-22T13:50:42Z

I like the style and theme of this one, it looks very polished. I found the limited cursor movement confusing though, i think perhaps it would be better if the cursor changed color or icon but could still move outside the movement range of the ghost since as it is it feels sort of like a bug when you can't move.

Exolvuntur by PxGluz 2020-04-22T12:19:25Z

I enjoyed this, i got to the 3rd enemy on perhaps my second or third attempt after i figured out the mechanics. This game is very fun and i'll definitely go back and play it a bit more later and try to complete it.

It was your fault by Gavin Camlin 2020-04-22T01:10:12Z

I wasn't sure what i was supposed to do, I followed 3 ghosts of myself (memories?) but nothing happened when doing so and they eventually disappeared, it didn't seem possible to progress, still the art style was cool and this was certainly ambitious

Save Our Ship by Laurari 2020-04-22T13:33:03Z

Not bad, but I found it a bit counter intuitive that 'S' was stop rather than retro, i think perhaps it would be better if holding 'S' allowed your ship to reverse.

Monster Zoo by Copito 2020-04-22T01:55:49Z

let me get back to you on that @exevirus I don't have a windows 7 machine here but I'll see if one of my friends has one so we can figure it out. If you're using a Nvidia gpu it seems Nvidia has a driver downloads page https://developer.nvidia.com/vulkan-driver I imagine AMD has an equivalent. I will get back with a better answer tomorrow sorry for the trouble!

Monster Zoo by Copito 2020-04-22T02:05:07Z

thanks @sacredbacon the doors just give you an easy way to transfer things around, like say if you want to move some monsters across the visitors path without the visitors being eaten, or if you want to use a flower to attract some monsters to 1 room then use a different flower to attract them somewhere else you can use doors to block the scent from the flowers. (you can get the same effect by adding and removing walls but doors make it more convenient)

Monster Zoo by Copito 2020-04-22T16:13:39Z

hey @dukebot which os are you on?

Monster Zoo by Copito 2020-04-22T21:00:25Z

hey thanks @laurari i'll have a think about a tutorial, basically if visitors are happy your reputation increases which increase the rate at which guests come into your zoo. Guests become happy each time they see a monster so to raise your income you need to create a path where the guests see a number of monsters on their wait to the exit.

Monster Zoo by Copito 2020-04-23T00:34:34Z

hey @eldar sorry i don't think i'd have time to make this run on mac at the moment, I'm not even sure the graphics layer it uses is supported on mac and i don't have a mac to build and test it on. Sorry!

Monster Zoo by Copito 2020-04-23T14:24:28Z

hey @lajazuve which OS / GPU are you using? It might be that you need to update your graphics drivers although it seems from other comments some people have had trouble with the game on windows 7, but i sadly don't have a windows 7 machine available to test.

Last Line of Defence by Goldi 2020-04-22T11:35:06Z

did you make these characters (the dragon warrior + skeletons + animations etc) during the jam? If so that's exceptionally fast for making such high quality assets!

Keep the Dark Lord alive by Heho 2020-04-23T00:02:36Z

I found this game to be a bit over complex, maybe it would have been nice to unlock the mechanics 1 by 1 rather than having everything from the start. It's a cool and unique idea though

Fire Up by oscarglo 2020-04-22T14:41:00Z

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

two tapes by Aurel300 2020-10-07T00:37:26Z

This was one of the most artistically pleasing entries i've seen so far. I enjoyed the tape puzzles but found the word solving puzzles a bit tricky and ended up randomly clicking until I solved at least 1 of them. I got stuck after finishing my first loop and was unsure how to continue. I felt like while the game generally felt polished I would have appreciated right mouse dragging the camera and perhaps only to need 1 click per button during the word game.

Another by kuro 2020-10-06T00:36:36Z

the art style and atmosphere worked really well, personally I found the mix of using 'Q' And 'WSAD' to attack a bit confusing I think I would have preferred either always separate attack keys or always 'WSAD' to attack unless this was intentional to add difficulty

Raised by Serpents by binroot 2020-10-10T03:00:20Z

I wasn't very clear on what was going on; initially I seemed to have a fairly straight forwards avatar that orbited a nest then it started looping and going haywire... That said I somehow won and it was a unique idea / mechanic. I thought the mind control was a good idea too.

That Time I Was Held Hostage By Some Loop, So I Followed The Road And I Was Fine by alaah 2020-10-06T18:31:54Z

That was an incredible life changing experience... Thankyou

Just to add some more critical feedback; I felt the invisible walls were a bit over done, it might have been nice to dynamically adjust the world to the players movement (So make the play area bit bigger but spawn the "continue token" based on where the player is). An asteroids style wrapping world might have worked well here as well

Ascend by almost 2020-10-07T10:57:07Z

This was cool but I found it very difficult and had to follow the streamer above to even get past the squirrel :D I might give it another go later and see if I can get to the end

Atermon by aemiliu5 2020-10-06T20:23:42Z

I initially ran in circles for a while before figuring out that the the maze was looping. I thought the first level was well balanced although on my first attempt pulling random switches I ended up in a state where the correct sequence didn't work and I couldn't tell how to get out of it leading to me restarting the game.

I also couldn't find anything interactable on the second level

Over all it was fun to play

Shlooper by Gurbx 2020-10-10T13:59:21Z

I enjoyed this as well timer got me too, good use of mechanics to keep it from getting repetitive, good job! Only obvious crit from me is I would have liked to have a way to dodge from idle since muscle memory from other games pushed me to stand then dodge at the last moment.. so it felt a bit unsatisfying when this resulted in my character just standing still and getting hit.

Eternal void by UglySwedishFish 2020-10-25T12:27:41Z

The art was nice although I found the post fx wayyyy OTT for my taste and would have appreciated more nuance in their application. Nice to see more entries written in C++!

Blossoms & Steel by Hare Software 2020-10-06T01:48:39Z

I thought this was really fun; I felt that the combat was maybe a little bit over complex and I found I generally did better by judging distances and not trying to block or position my sword than trying to counter the enemies. If there's a sekiro style blocking mechanic I didn't figure it out. I also wasn't quite sure what the elements did. These issues didn't hold it back from being very enjoyable though.

Train Rush by Panagiotis Iatrou 2020-10-07T11:42:18Z

This was a cool genre combo that matched the theme well. I felt the mechanic where the centre part caught fire was a little bit confusing and was the main thing that killed me. If i understood correctly when there's an ! over the middle you had to rush back to put it out while for other ! you had to avoid them. Perhaps a different symbol for the centre area would have been good since i found myself avoiding it and dying :D

Deep Winter by Copito 2020-10-05T22:28:52Z

Hey thanks for giving it a go! Do you have a log file from the crash? I imagine i'll do a post jam version with some audio and a couple more monsters but I just didn't have time :D

Deep Winter by Copito 2020-10-06T11:10:21Z

hey thanks for giving it a go, I definitely agree about the lack of additional set dressing in the more open rooms. Annoyingly I didn't even think of it until play testing after the jam was over

Deep Winter by Copito 2020-10-06T23:09:13Z

hey thankyou for the positive review! I thought the lack of punctuation (due to a technical glitch) and rushed dialogue combined with fully fading out the last scene made the story almost impossible to understand it sounds like you at least got the gist of it though which is really reassuring thanks!

Deep Winter by Copito 2020-10-07T20:41:46Z

hey thanks for giving it a try, finding henry is the end of the first of 3 "memories" in the game intended to explore the hunters past, I don't think it says "the end" after that.. well hopefully not!

Deep Winter by Copito 2020-10-08T17:58:25Z

Hey thanks everyone for trying my game

@toasteater I am hoping I get time to do a post jam version with sounds but it's more complex than just making the wav files as this game is written without an engine in C++ and I forgot to integrate a sound API before the jam. I will integrate FMOD before the next jam but I'm not sure if that will happen today or in 3 months

Deep Winter by Copito 2020-10-08T18:11:29Z

@maclav sorry you found the controls awkward, the gameplay is based on diablo but I didn't have time to integrate targeting enemies sorry!

Deep Winter by Copito 2020-10-13T13:51:20Z

@wakobu the first part is to rest at a camp (not the one you start in) to complete the first "loop" after that enemies should spawn on future loops

Deep Winter by Copito 2020-10-18T17:00:09Z

@robonaut121 hey thanks for giving it a go; I feel like I screwed the dialogue up in this, the character you play is the ghost of a dead hunter and the dialogue is supposed to imply her growing detachment from her memories but.. eh I made a mess of it. It was extremely rapidly written and the broken punctuation rendering didn't help much. But enough excuses I'll try to do better next jam!

For context most of the scene art (trees / wall decoration etc) was made in the last hour before the submission deadline... so there wasn't much time for polish or features to keep the player engaged.

Deep Winter by Copito 2020-10-23T11:37:27Z

@trexxak @xk-the-name I thought it might be worth adding a short story synopsis here since I know I did a bad job of fleshing it out and I've half explained it in various comments.

*spoilers*

----- game story ----- * I need to find henry, he shouldn't be out on his own - (can't remember what happened to her dog) * Finds the body of her dog: * Oh henry died. Never mind - (Her dogs fate isn't the main thing on her mind) * What was it I was doing here - (can't remember why she's here and has forgotten about her dog) * Finds a slaughtered animal: * There's food here, that's right there was food here before. We came to look for food, I wonder if henry is ok - (remembers she was looking for food and contrasts her current perception of a world of nothing but ice with a previous world with animals and food) * I wonder how long I've been here - (can't remember anything) * Finds her body: * That's right we couldn't find enough food, I was called Jenny right? Maybe I can rest now - (remembers her name and rests in peace)

----- overview -----

The story follows the ghost of a hunter who came to the waste lands to hunt animals for food, however she couldn't find any and after loosing her dog (Henry) froze to death. In the game she is haunted by effigies of her body freezing as she tries to understand her situation until eventually she finds her body and rests in peace.

Deep Winter by Copito 2020-10-23T11:40:59Z

@trexxak I'm glad you liked it. In many ways I would like to do a "full" version of this game maybe 1 hour long priced around $5 but I have too many other projects on my plate sadly

@xk-the-name Thanks for the feedback, I would certainly have liked to add more graphical polish and fluff but there just wasn't time. Obviously downloading sounds would have required me to opt out of audio anyway but I would have added sounds if it weren't for the lack of code support in my C++ code base at the time of the jam. Sorry!

Deep Winter by Copito 2020-10-24T19:13:57Z

@pawciu awesome thanks for giving it a go! Diablo 2 was actually a game I used for reference for this, the archers movements should be pretty close to the amazon from d2 as I captured some gifs from her movement in d2 and them as reference for animating the character. The archer AI is also based loosely on how the archers move in d2

Deep Winter by Copito 2020-10-26T14:15:07Z

@jjoeyay interesting idea about smoothing out the camera movement, I don't think this is directly related to character movement rather to a deliberate decision to quantize everything to the pixel art grid. I do agree though that perhaps for this style of game it would be nicer to move the camera with screen pixels.

I think Enter the Gungeon probably allows the camera to move with screen pixels while say Nuclear Throne snaps it to art pixels, I think the snap gives a more raw visceral feel but in the case of this game that's not really what I was after. Might be something I'll revisit in future if I do another slower paced pixel art game.

Thanks for your feedback! (And yes sorry the sound is a bit crap)

Eternal Punishment by Yuukurisu 2020-10-24T23:12:58Z

this reminds me of Eryi's Action and is every bit as frustrating, in a good way.. sort of!.. I would have probably liked a bit more difficulty progression since it felt nails hard from the start at least for my platforming game abilities. I got stuck at the long falling bridge over the pit on the first level, which I might give another go later. Over all I thought this was pretty great though the art was good and it felt quite polished.

Killer Killer by WhoMakeWorse 2020-10-23T14:01:55Z

@whomakeworse fwiw it seems the way the ratings system works was changed a bit this jam so your game is promoted based on karma (hearts on comments given) rather than ratings given so unlike before rating a game and not commenting doesn't bump you up the ratings table.

I did give this game a go but found it hard to rate due to it missing many aspects. kudos for attempting this kind of animation and modelling in the jam I know it's not easy at all and super time consuming and I think you did a decent job of it!

WhileLoops by Ausstein 2020-10-23T13:27:49Z

this was incredibly stressful, I'm not sure how to give critical feedback on such perfection, good job!

Chronos Time Warp by Zliebowitz 2020-10-10T10:09:46Z

while the individual parts of this game were simple there were quite a lot of them and they all integrated well. Over all an enjoyable polished feeling experience. Only slight negative for me was the snakes chased me between 2 rooms at once point which felt a bit inconsistent for the genre

CREATION EXCAVATION by taffyko 2020-10-25T13:34:30Z

I really enjoyed this, Mechanically I think I might have preferred a ray cast to destroy blocks over the point based destruction as I often found myself trying to run while sweeping away blocks and ending up bumping along stop starting. I wasn't sure what to do after I got the ability to create and explored a bit, I wasn't quite sure if there was more to do after that. Still a good entry one of my favourites this jam

Get in the Loop! by toasteater 2020-10-08T14:18:49Z

At the start I felt like... :( I hope she's ok... after 2 restarts I was like... come on please grab it... by the end I was like GET IN THE DAMN LOOP!

HONK II by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2020-10-18T20:34:16Z

This was very well done. I found for my taste it was missing some kind of unique hook or mechanic, something to provide stronger differentiation against games like enter the gungeon or nuclear throne. (Also a bit more of a feeling of progression such as not starting with all the guns would have improved things for me)

S P A C E D O U T by LanaLux 2020-10-07T01:57:35Z

this was an impressive little game, I got a bit stuck though, having fixed everything I couldn't figure out how to complete the game, I'm not sure if I missed an interactable or something. I also had to restart a couple of times since I didn't upgrade "work" first which seemed to put me into a sneaky death spiral... over all a cool entry though!

Round-a-bout: Get Me Outta Here! Edition by trmrddr 2020-10-06T19:17:07Z

This was an exceptionally professional entry and felt extremely polished but I found I got bored fairly quickly.

As others have noted the breaks felt very weak, I also drove off the bottom of the menu and got lost.

I especially found the later levels where I had to re-tread my steps became quite tedious, I think I would have enjoyed it more with some mechanics that pushed me to take risks with my driving something like a time limit or de-buff system where your car gets fixed in accelerate mode for 1 roundabout or something

Coalescence: Battle System Prototype by Seth Tal 2020-10-07T09:31:36Z

this was a great game idea and I enjoyed a couple of battles, some kind of progression would have been nice but it was fun!

The Titan's grave by BadPiggy 2020-10-18T20:01:36Z

This was really fun and the art style worked well for what it was. Feels very solid not much to critique here really!

Third Time's the Charm by Jag 2020-10-07T00:07:13Z

This was quite fun once I got into it. I found the disjoint between the game jam quality gameplay with the more polished assets a bit distracting and left me feeling like the character movement during jumps and attacks was a bit off the mark. I think this is probably because the assets set my expectations a bit too high though. Still it was pretty fun trying and failing to jump my way through all the platforms! Good job

I am not a murderer by Bunkai 2020-10-07T11:22:18Z

I found this quite unique maybe it would have been cool to upgrade the players gun each level to make it harder to avoid hitting "enemies"

LineLoop by Squareworx Studio 2020-10-07T00:46:42Z

Pretty fun but I died a few times due to enemies seemingly spawning inside me which was frustrating (I am pretty tired though so perhaps i just didn't notice them spawning in)

Caught in the Sheriff's Loop by Kassie Kitsune 2020-10-07T09:16:44Z

I really struggled with the key mechanic in this game, after cutting the rope I seemed to be able to push it around but I couldn't figure out how to open the door with it; do I need to push it into the door? The game was quite unique but I felt I got stuck quite early on due to the above

EvoLoop by GroundDoon 2020-10-19T16:16:27Z

This was nicely put together, but I found the mechanics seemingly caused me to run out of ammo with no way to regenerate it then sit here stuck and watch my plant get eaten by bugs which was a bit frustrating. It would have been nice to have some kind of recharging ammo or something even if the recharge rate was very slow

Loopy by Flying Basement Studios 2020-10-06T23:14:41Z

this was really cool, I'm up to level 12 so far and might play a bit more later. I also thought this was excellent use of the theme. On the downside I found the level of foresight required to get programs right first go was quite high due to the tight looping nature and as a result ended up often writing something that seemed "About right" then debugging and fixing it. This made the game feel a bit more like debugging a horrible bug than like writing code which I think marginally reduced my enjoyment :D

Silly Platypus by kotovnav 2020-10-06T02:13:31Z

this is nice and consistent but I got stuck at the I think second door. There was a downwards pointing arrow on a platform above but leaving a clone there didn't seem to open the door, upto there i'd enjoyed it though

INSIDE THE LOOP by aerloth 2020-10-19T16:56:18Z

This was cool and reminded me of the purple coin levels from Mario galaxy. I would have liked something to collect or other marker to help me figure out where to go since once I got to the larger room as I got stuck and was unsure how to progress. The animations and IK were really nice and over all it felt good although perhaps could have benefited a bit from a hidden layer of collision meshes to smooth out some of the sharper corners and areas the character interacted weirdly. Over all a really good entry though

Stuck in a science loop by Uncle RIP 2020-10-08T21:16:01Z

This was cool, and reminded me a bit of commander keen. A couple of bits of feedback: - I found it confusing having 2 destructible doors basically implementing the same mechanic I think it would have been better to stick with 1 or the other - I found it quite frustrating that running to the right of the screen to get ahead and explore caused the death wall to advance which seemed to punish success

Cool entry though and I enjoyed playing it!

SORO BORO by nethead 2020-10-07T14:12:17Z

I liked the art direction and colour palette / style, but i found the rocket collision a bit too janky i think it would have benefited a lot from Continuous Collision Detection

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Deepspace by Willops 2021-04-29T21:37:18Z

This was a really impressive entry, very well put together and polished a ton of solid features for not much time

Through Hell (Traveling soulsman 2) by Angry Squirrels 2021-04-27T18:24:50Z

this was a fun and polished experience I felt like juggling the torch, business cards and escorted critter worked pretty well together to create an engaging experience

Made in the Deep by ambivorous 2021-04-27T13:59:19Z

this was super fun one of my favourites of the jam so far. There did seem to be a bug where if you collected a mushroom as you died you'd get the "mushroom power" and the mushroom would despawn when you respawned which meant restarting a second time to start with the level in a fully reset state.

Deeper & Deeper Winery by ciaccodavide 2021-04-27T08:12:15Z

Simple but pretty fun I imagine this could be a good party game especially if you tried to keep pace with the wine bottle opening. The voices were great too

Watcher Patrol 4 by BlueCalx 2021-04-28T09:32:43Z

this game is unique and super fun although I felt like it was a bit too difficult for me at least, it took a long time to find the right widget to activate compared to how quickly I was taking damage. Some kind of homing missile or something a bit more automatic to deal with the more aggressive enemies would have been nice, since trying to turn the ship and activate a gun was too slow while being shot up by a UFO

Orpheus by Ametentia 2021-04-28T20:09:32Z

sweet another game written in C++! this is pretty cool but i found the musical battle with the hydra thing too difficult and died

Bob by Jin9310 2021-05-01T13:11:28Z

This was pretty cool the pixel art was great and the zombies felt endless. Like others I would have liked the grenades to be a bit more impactful maybe not detonating on contact with zombies and having a larger AoE but it was fun anyway

The Deep by TheMoonrise 2021-04-27T17:42:52Z

Amazing game, not really my kind of thing but I still really enjoyed it. I found linking the coordinates to the map especially hard somehow and it took me quite a few goes before I even realized they were linked. (Maybe because the gps seemed a bit high tech and obvious compared to the sonar and handles? Not sure, somehow i just didn't grok it for a while)

Spikers Quest by Copito 2021-04-27T09:31:37Z

hey thanks for trying it at @stlunatick did you manage to get it to work? The game doesn't use an off the shelf engine, I did test it on a couple of machines without issue though. Just waiting for some more of my friends to play it to see if it works for them. It should have a .log file that might give some hit as to why it's not working

Spikers Quest by Copito 2021-04-27T19:01:22Z

@whysguy52 hey thanks for giving it a go you can't break the black rocks sorry that was about where I ran out of time! (hopefully you got the you win screen though).

Spikers Quest by Copito 2021-04-29T09:16:38Z

hey @miej you don't pick up items yourself rather the aim is to feed your pet and after you've fed it enough it'll spawn upgrades for you, sorry if this was confusing! It probably could have used a tutorial

Spikers Quest by Copito 2021-04-29T18:27:45Z

haha thanks for giving it a go @fabula-rasa :D It definitely could have used more content and some extra bug fixing to sort out things like running off the edge, but i ended up spending too long on just getting the art style right and sorting out the basic collision code and such never mind!

Spikers Quest by Copito 2021-04-29T19:00:09Z

@miej yep should do if you cut down a tree and bring your pet nearby it should fly over and eat the wood hopefully

Spikers Quest by Copito 2021-05-01T16:00:32Z

hey @hruhf yep that's a bug however it's a bug I sort of deliberately left in since I felt it over all was sort of fun having some slightly more challenging enemies even if it wasn't intended xD I was hoping to have a lot more enemies in but just totally ran out of time

Spikers Quest by Copito 2021-05-04T18:59:33Z

@jin9310 hey that's a bit weird, I know one person had trouble with this due to having a non-English input language selected, switching to an English keyboard layout fixed it for them. Perhaps this is the issue you're seeing there as well? The game doesn't do anything particularly smart with input but it seemed to have issues with that and I didn't have time to investigate it. Thanks for giving it a go anyway!

Spikers Quest by Copito 2021-05-04T21:35:11Z

@jin9310 excellent thanks for the feedback, I'll make sure I fix that in any future games!

The Depths of Science by Trusty 2021-04-27T17:59:55Z

this worked fine as a basic shooter, it would have been nice to have some kind of unique gimmick but it all worked fine for me and i completed it. I was really impressed with the animations especially on the scientist zombie. That must have been a ton of work for 3 days!

Sblaaf!! by Thob 2021-04-28T19:13:30Z

this is an awesome game if a little motion sickness inducing. I didn't rate sound either as if I understand the rules correctly you can only be rated on a category where you only used your own assets made during the jam

(although if i could rate sound it'd get top marks as it totally fits the game!)

Deepest Dungeon by Almighty Games 2021-04-30T19:04:43Z

It was definitely brave to take on this theme in 3D and over all the game looked pretty good, however I found myself running in circles and got bored pretty quickly. I think the first level being shorter with a more obvious end point would have perhaps helped a bit.

Legend of the Goblin Hoard by Bauke Regnerus 2021-04-27T09:32:52Z

This is super cool although i'm totally stuck in the cave with the 2 ogres at the end on a tight platform with lavvaaaaa arghhh lava xD

Sergei the Salvager by kankje 2021-04-27T19:05:28Z

This was cool but seemed a bit short unless I missed a second level?

Magic Sword Swallowing by gramozilho 2021-04-28T22:39:49Z

that was... wait what lol... i feel like i'll remember ld48 for this game

Catlantis by fabula_rasa 2021-04-29T16:38:18Z

this was amazing, great design and use of assets. I was really impressed with how well balanced this was as well, the difficulty and placement of objects was top notch

Red Archer by BadPiggy 2021-04-27T17:39:43Z

this was super cool although I felt it became a bit grindy later on. It reminded me of the shotgun combo from bio-shock infinite.

Deep molatoes by leggy 2021-05-01T13:22:51Z

This was amazing if extremely difficult :D I loved it. I felt the difficulty of managing a large team early on was a bit too high and it felt almost inevitable that most of my molatoes would die while trying to leave enough resources for the final chosen survivor to get to the diamond... I have no idea how you'd improve this though. I guess an FTL style pause would have made it a lot easier but maybe would have also destroyed some of the frantic fun.

Fat Larry at the All-U-Can-Eat buffet by mariszin 2021-04-29T19:44:06Z

i like how Larry gets fatter as you continue to play, a true masterpiece

Spin On by Hruhf 2021-05-01T13:01:27Z

this is a cool and unique idea i like the way the different stages leave some enemies around in the sky when you level down. Like others i felt the mechanic of putting the player into an endless loosing spiral could use some work, i also felt the shooting could have been improved perhaps by something like the halflife rocket launcher where you can fire without locking on but the rockets will move towards whatever you're targeting after firing so the player would still get feedback when shooting but you'd maintain the difficulty.

Mind Fall by Nyx_Works 2021-04-28T19:00:38Z

i have no idea what is going on, that was bizzar :D but er i think i won

LD49 — Unstable

Cat Stranding by 0x01F0 2021-10-06T21:38:05Z

This was a neat design and kept me interested well enough to complete it, the first time I played I totally missed the package at the start and ran around for 10 minutes before getting bored and quitting so maybe it'd be nice to make that first package a bit more obvious

Heat Death by zeta0134 2021-10-06T00:42:54Z

This was really fun, I didn't have too much trouble completing it and I felt the pacing was quite good. I found the difficulty a little bit up and down, the middle levels seemed the most difficult with more resource management required compared to the last few levels I could just platform my way through, but I actually kind of liked that as it felt like a reward for learning the mechanics. I agree with the above comment that standing around waiting for entropy was a bit of a negative, but it was such a core mechanic any change to it would make the game feel totally different I think.

Interstellar Highway Robbery by Corny 2021-10-07T20:42:49Z

super cool game, I ended up loosing when I ended up outside the level after one of the jump transitions, I'm not sure if that was intentional to fit the theme better haha. It reminded me a lot of void bastards which is also great.

Horse Rider by Lawrence 2021-10-07T17:12:45Z

Loved the atmosphere of this one and I definitely felt unstable.

Plan of Action by Sharks 2021-10-07T16:23:02Z

this game is super cool but let down a bit by rough UX the AI works well and the range of tactical options available building different ships is really impressive, but I hit quite a few problems such as: * only seemingly being able to drag down and right to select ships * zooming out and dragging throwing my camera way out of the map * ships being deselected whenever I clicked to give orders to them while these weren't entirely game breaking because the game itself has such a large scope and complexity for the player to manage I felt they impacted things more than they might in a simpler game

I still really enjoyed it though and it's an impressively complete RTS.

Steel Coffin by JLV 2021-10-05T23:19:18Z

I liked how consistent everything was, it's hard to fault it for the time spent! I guess ideally it could have been a bit longer with some story points giving back fuel or something but I imagine that was out of scope

Escaped Plague by Federico Giorgi 2021-10-06T23:18:40Z

something about this game really reminds me of heretic very cool, I thought the movement was a little bit floaty making it hard to fight the monsters precisely

LabEscape! by Copito 2021-10-06T00:07:39Z

@joshua-allen hey thanks for giving it a go; any chance you could explain how to reproduce the issue you saw? I've played through quite a few times and not had any issues like that.

@sploky i agree about the right mouse it's that way because originally I wanted more of an MMO like UI then forgot to change it. I might do a post jam which makes the camera move regardless of if you have the mouse pressed. Did you manage to work out how to use your transformation ok? The game is hard if you try to just make it through in human form but it shouldn't be too bad if you juggle back and forth between human and monster forms.

LabEscape! by Copito 2021-10-06T00:13:11Z

@cromo amazing! Thanks for giving it such a thorough test, I feel really stupid for not writing the controls anywhere I'll do that now. I definitely came away from this feeling like practicing animations is the no1. thing I should do before the next LDJam. It was the best I could do in the time but I agree they're below par

LabEscape! by Copito 2021-10-07T08:21:51Z

@sharks hey thanks for giving it a go; did you figure out how to transform? As soon as you transform you regain all your hit points and become invulnerable for 8 seconds. I'm pretty sure the reason people are finding the game hard is that they're not working this mechanic out. I definitely agree it could give more feedback when you're hit though and I had wanted to add this but I both ran out of time and didn't have support for alpha blending or post fx :D so i didn't have an easy way to make the screen flash

LabEscape! by Copito 2021-10-07T14:49:09Z

@sharks hey no problem thanks for the extra info i wonder if maybe the horizontal bar made people think it was a stamina bar or something i had intended for the transformation to feel a bit er unstable but it seems like maybe i overdid it and made it too obscure.

Thanks very much for the extra info i'll have a think about how i could have made that more clear (other than i guess a tutorial or something)

LabEscape! by Copito 2021-10-07T17:43:32Z

@thiago-nascimento oh good grief you're right, I certainly wouldn't call myself an animator but I'll fix that in the post jam version thanks!

LabEscape! by Copito 2021-10-07T17:52:12Z

I've updated that in the post jam version and it feels *much* better, thanks!

LabEscape! by Copito 2021-10-07T19:25:02Z

@skleembof hey thanks for your feedback! Sorry you found it too hard. I've posted a walk through video hoping it might clarify some of the mechanics around how to use monster form and how to manage your monster bar between rooms (although I don't always do a great job in that video haha)

LabEscape! by Copito 2021-10-08T09:09:43Z

@wolderado hey thanks for giving it a try, There is a roughly 1 second tell before they shoot (you can see me dodge one at the 1 minute mark in the video) but it sounds like it's too subtle. I had intended to make them kneel too shoot but I thought it was a bit weird having them bob up and down all the time. I like the danger icon idea I think that would have really fitted the game and made it easier for people to read the tells if they hadn't played the game before.

LabEscape! by Copito 2021-10-09T00:45:04Z

@duckonaut hey no I made the engine last weekend I think implementing skinning etc would have been a bit much during the jam. In the jam I implemented collision and (simple) pvs culling along with matcap shaders etc but no low level rendering

LabEscape! by Copito 2021-10-12T09:41:42Z

hey thanks for your feedback @weaselswithyourmoney I think you're the first person to mention the range being awkward on the attack and TBH this is my no1. thing I would have liked to have improved. I really wanted to give some kind of indication of when you were in range of an enemy but I couldn't think of a good, easy way to do it that I had the tech for.

Transforming was intentionally random to try to meet the "unstable" theme (various things trigger it, being shot at, taking damage, killing enemies). I'm not sure that was a good thing but that was the motivation.

Thanks for playing it I'm glad you had fun!

The Three Goblin Problem by pfs 2021-10-06T21:55:52Z

incredible game it took me ages but we made it and I'm sure many drinks were had and they definitely didn't immediately fall over and get kicked out

Unstable Robot Soccer by Ausstein 2021-10-06T18:30:59Z

amazing game I loved it! Maybe ball could have moved a bit faster to increase the scoring I found after my 2 minute game that it was a 1:1 draw with the ai; not sure it was great though I really liked it.

The Penguins Below by michaelaranda 2021-10-06T20:07:53Z

top marks in humour since I laughed out loud when I realized I couldn't control the sub anymore because the driving penguin had been squashed by a box. It was total genius to put that there

Chaos Theory by marrs 2021-10-05T23:08:54Z

this was a fun interesting take on the theme, although I felt like maybe the mechanics didn't fit with the scrolling view very well and it might have worked better with a fixed view port. That would have given better intuition of how the maze changed and which areas you'd already explored. I found with the scrolling view it was easy to get lost and repeatedly visit the same area.

The Great Derby by Geojax 2021-10-07T21:11:13Z

Pretty intense typing game, awesome game :D

Don Muchacho: Vigilante by javi7 2021-10-07T20:56:17Z

that was really damn silly haha good job

Meltdown by diharaw94 2021-10-07T16:50:04Z

Cool, very polished game. I found mouse targeting a bit awkward and switched to game pad which was better. Some how I didn't feel super motivated to replay this game despite how polished it was, I think maybe unlocking the different turrets when you died or similar mechanic to increase engagement would have perhaps have helped.

Robot party 2049 by Remn 2021-10-07T17:05:29Z

really cool game I enjoyed it. It's hard to say how to improve it, maybe some more instantaneous tools to control robots (like maybe a freeze robot that prevented nearby robots from moving ). I also found after a little bit the game reduced to trying to keep the board clearish until i got 2 duplicating robots of different colours so maybe limiting replicators a bit more (perhaps they could only replicate once) might make the game feel more varied by removing the obvious low hanging fruit strategy. Not sure over all the game was great as it is.

Proton Pilferer vs. The Particle Police by Skyward4d 2021-10-06T22:02:15Z

it reminds me of commander keen! Fun game, maybe a tad short

Bird Game!!! by Ty Rymer 2021-10-05T23:00:13Z

this made my partner repeatedly kick me so I guess it must be good! (I won btw)

Plundering Boy by HaaYaargh 2021-10-06T19:39:49Z

sweet game, I got thrown up in the air a few times and once landed back on the top of my ship, there seemed to be a few invisible walls that blocked my path so I couldn't get back to the looting area, perhaps a bug? I found it a bit too tricky to get over the end of the ramp between the ships but other than that it was really fun

Uns' Table by ValidDark 2021-10-06T22:15:16Z

HAha wow the camera and music just made this game, it was a crazy time i think if i'd played it in VR i would have really been sick xD

Lovecrafting by Concker_88 2021-10-05T23:41:50Z

Cool game, great mood and super interesting use of the theme. Hard to think of any improvements although I successfully summoned 1 monster then didn't feel very motivated to try and summon another; so some kind of communication that there's more exciting content and you unlocked something would help (maybe if you unlock a component when you summon a monster the game could communicate this a bit more clearly)

Still amazing game very polished.

Nuclear Labs by JoLu Studios 2021-10-06T19:46:53Z

cool game I found by the 1 minute mark it was getting really hard and it didn't seem possible to survive much longer so I didn't try to replay. I think maybe as there's only 2 primary weapons i would have found it better to have a weapon on left / right button and space kick or something similar to make it easier to use both weapons

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Somnus by Stending 2022-04-06T20:37:19Z

awesome camera transitions and music, really built an imposing atmosphere

Rude Bear Restart by alexrose 2022-04-07T18:42:47Z

great game, satisfying and complete feeling. Only complaint is on the left puzzle 1 time I pushed a block into the 3rd left gutter and was unable to cross it despite being able to cross the earlier gutters in the same manner, my favourite part was the log puzzle

The Last Patrol by WilloXs 2022-04-06T20:52:13Z

hey cool game, I enjoyed the dog fighting although found it hard to aim with the keyboard at such high speeds I probably would have preferred to use the mouse for direction / targeting. Game started full screen on my ultrawide monitor and I couldn't find a way to window it so there were quite a few visual glitches as a result.

Fire Escape by Dj Depressive 2022-04-07T23:29:47Z

amazing game I super enjoyed it although I got to the last level feeling pretty pleased I'd evaded the boss and discovered I got a bad score because I evade him too quickly haha maybe it could be more clearly indicated that spending more time per level gives better scores, not sure it was pretty good anyway.

Grieventide by Abdonatioera 2022-04-08T00:02:59Z

cool game really fun, I think maybe a knock back on the attack and slightly faster enemies might have improved it a bit since as it was combat felt a bit straight forwards (I didn't really feel threatened at all and killed the boss via standing still and spamming attack) having knockback and faster enemies would require the player to keep more awareness of their surroundings

MegaSpiker by Copito 2022-04-05T19:37:10Z

@binaryspark Oh hell no the vulkan rendering was written before the jam, I'll add a note to clarify that. I don't think I could even get a triangle rendering with vulkan in 3 days xD

MegaSpiker by Copito 2022-04-06T12:08:02Z

@boykala thanks for the feedback, I think that is pretty close to how I feel about the game too, The original intention was that each day you'd get a new power up until eventually you could fight the monster. Alas I got too bogged down in technical issues to make it happen.

MegaSpiker by Copito 2022-04-09T17:37:11Z

@jelch hey thanks for giving it a go; yes this kind of issue is basically what I spent the whole jam trying to fix, I really struggled to control the walkable areas of the nav mesh with monsters often teleporting onto the river bed and other annoying issues. These would have been solvable by better tooling etc but I really underestimated how much trouble I'd have thinking placing large invisible blocking objects would allow me to robustly fence off areas.. which really didn't work as well as I expected. Really frustrating. Sorry I will sort it out before next jam

MegaSpiker by Copito 2022-04-10T13:59:22Z

@noiyy Hey, any chance you could check the log file and see if it gives any hints? It should just be in the folder with the exe, the game does require a reasonably modern GPU as it relies on sparse virtual textures even though it doesn't use them...

MegaSpiker by Copito 2022-04-10T14:36:14Z

@noiyy I think you can ignore the NVidia part as that log is wrong, what gpu do you have? I don't think the requirements of this are super high but possibly the sparse virtual texture requirements are causing issues. Thanks for the reply btw

MegaSpiker by Copito 2022-04-10T16:07:19Z

@noiyy looks like the issue is sparseResidency4Samples which is a weird feature I have no idea why you'd want and definitely not needed for this game sorry my bad it shouldn't be required, I'll try to do another build tonight but the current one won't work. Sorry nothing to do with your GPU just a stupid flag I forgot I had set from testing random things before the jam

MegaSpiker by Copito 2022-04-11T01:42:54Z

@zimny @noiyy @beebster-games I've uploaded a patched version of the game that should be a bit less picky about GPU (although you'll still need something relatively high end to run it min spec is probably a bit under a 1060 or equivalent)

MegaSpiker by Copito 2022-04-12T13:15:33Z

@noiyy hey thanks for giving it another go; I think the issue this time is the max texture array size looks like it's 2048 on your card while the game uses 4096 :D good grief the game only uses about 10 textures though so err yeah I'll do another build later tonight. Thanks for all the testing the game will be a huge disappointment if I'm ever able to get it to work for you xD

MegaSpiker by Copito 2022-04-18T12:50:35Z

hey @commanderstitch thanks for trying it, there should be a log file in the folder with the executable, does it have any info in it about what might be wrong?

The Endless Night by Arivenzys 2022-04-10T02:16:52Z

I had trouble with this on ultra-wide on the download build after struggling with the html version, it'd be nice to have a way to start it in a window, or have it border itself to an appropriate ratio in ultra-wide

Don't Kill Your Darlings by scalliondelight 2022-04-05T20:58:13Z

Amazingly atmospheric, but I struggled to work out the strategy on how the different materials related to the different ill animals and got stuck dragging randomly. The art was super cool and music was solid as well

Click to Continue by Daniel Foutz 2022-04-06T22:22:17Z

unique and does a good job of getting your attention I felt it went on a bit too long and started to loose it's impact a bit towards the end xD If only it had been an infinite loop and you had to blow up the puppy to end it

Battery Low by Milestone Games 2022-04-08T00:12:42Z

cute fun game, felt pretty bad for the rover but I guess it did it's job haha.

Highrail to hell by BadPiggy 2022-04-06T23:18:25Z

I'm not sure if i screwed something up but in each level the hoard seemed to get stuck at the entrace to the carriage this meant i couldn't progress past the "use the hoard to kill the zombie" level. Controls felt tight though and i enjoyed what i could play of it.

ResQ by marrs 2022-04-05T19:06:19Z

Cool, retro feeling game. I was a bit confused when I flew to the end of the river and the river ended rather than wrapping around as I thought all old school games should! Everything worked as intended though, only other thing is it might have been nice to have some context sensitive prompts to take off, return to the pad etc since I found myself getting confused with what to do at times

Neverwash by ironcutter 2022-04-10T02:08:51Z

I'm so good at this in real life... but not so great at it in a game apparently!

Bossfight But- (READ DESC PLS) by GM637OFFICIAL 2022-04-06T22:58:49Z

super difficult but fun juicy and polished. I would have perhaps preferred it if the boss followed the same pattern each time so you could learn the pattern and gradually improve

Scuttling Is Painless by HexyVexy 2022-04-05T19:18:29Z

is there some way to start this in a window? I'm running on an ultrawide monitor and couldn't read half the text. It also didn't look great blown up across my monitor. I did play quite a long way through while the charge jump is quite clever it felt clunky and I found jumping off moving platforms felt wrong compared to my subconscious expectations from other platformers.

Nightwaker by Bottled up Dark Peace 2022-04-06T22:50:23Z

Great atmosphere and visuals, typing j l all the time certainly made the typing a lot harder than it otherwise would have been and I often found myself having to look the keyboard to re-orient myself. it would have been better for me if I was spamming f and j or maybe had to type small phrases to stay awake to avoid getting RSI in my fingers I would have also loved a mechanic where you could knock monsters back a bit as you type each letter.

Venting Machine by EmberUshi 2022-04-06T22:33:29Z

nice art style felt pretty old school like something from an ancient pc in cga or something. Hard to give any feedback on the gameplay felt pretty polished!

BaraRun by DerekBell 2022-04-05T20:27:23Z

Super fun, this game reminded me of Australia

CardDom by Essojadojef 2022-04-05T18:56:11Z

This was really fun, crazy that you effectively made 2 games in 1 here with a tower defence game and a card game, very nice!

Mars-O-Tage by adncoach 2022-04-07T23:39:56Z

really fun game; I felt like maybe it would have been good if your sabotage progress slowly degraded if you have to break it off to challenge the player to risk going back when a rover goes past. Good idea well executed though

LD52 — Harvest

Fairy Feeder by recursiveanomaly 2023-01-13T17:22:40Z

Wow.. I think that's the first time I've literally laughed out loud at a ldjam game, recommend giving people a button suggesting they get a drink irl before clicking to continue and "harvesting" the fairies to destroy some keyboards. excellent entry!

The Orchid's Edge by Cornflowerblue 2023-01-13T17:00:53Z

I absolutely love the character art in this, I struggled a bit with the controls though, at least on my pad the sensitivity was too high to really play and I prefer an inverted Y axis, which is sad because the game seems amazing

Tony Crow's Pro Scyther by auxC 2023-01-10T23:07:43Z

super solid entry, great across the board, I'm glad I don't live in a world with a wise cracking death skater though, what a way to go

Wheat World by Belonzik 2023-01-10T22:30:29Z

amazing game, very polished and really fun but for some reason i keep getting the level failed screen on level 2 when walking off the right hand edge after successfully getting all 5 wheat, not sure if this is a bug or if there's some extra mechanic i'm miss understanding.

Cute Baby Animal Organ Harvesting Simulator by TheOtherSamP 2023-01-13T17:12:05Z

wtf did i play xD... thankyou for dragging me back into the spirit of ldjam... that was... memorable

LD52 Moonlight by Fis 2023-01-13T15:24:58Z

fun game with a cool visual style and art direction. I felt like some forces to push the enemies apart and stop them from clumping up too much would have helped along with time scaling on difficulty matched to upgrades, but I'm sure that was just a question of a bit more dev time, Nice game I liked it!

Mc Gobbers Shroom Panic by Copito 2023-01-10T22:15:42Z

Hey thanks for the feedback @cybek I did originally have a hit feedback animation on the player but i removed it last minute because it interrupted attacking and lead to the player being stun locked too easily which i found really frustrating. there should be a graphical effect from picking the shrooms though (the little bits spawn on the floor then they fly towards you). as to the logs... sorry! :D i also wrote the gl code during the jam.

Mc Gobbers Shroom Panic by Copito 2023-01-10T22:36:24Z

@cybek yeah maybe it would have been nice to have a bit more feedback when you were hit, for clarity you get 1 "shroom" for each particle you collect after destroying a shroom plant. Sorry if that was unclear

Mc Gobbers Shroom Panic by Copito 2023-01-11T08:20:48Z

thanks @ss9, that's so true about lack of rewards as you level up, and I was really disappointed I didn't have time to balance it better and improve the rewards. It was just a lack of time issue

Mc Gobbers Shroom Panic by Copito 2023-01-12T11:12:01Z

sounds like you might have hit the "monsters stop spawning" bug @skosnowich normally the number of monsters scales up quite a bit by 10 minutes in or so that said the balance isn't ideal. Shrooms flying around you should only happen if your bag is already full, but could also be a bug like everything it's rather an unpolished feature... i did my best with the time i had!

Mc Gobbers Shroom Panic by Copito 2023-01-14T10:16:17Z

anything in the log @nullval ?

Mc Gobbers Shroom Panic by Copito 2023-01-15T00:50:51Z

@nullval fwiw i've put up a version with better logging on the itch page called "build-post" if you have time to run it. What kind of gpu are you running it on?

Mc Gobbers Shroom Panic by Copito 2023-01-24T08:33:23Z

interesting, thanks @lizelive I sort of expected this game to be fairly easy to run via emulators etc, as it only uses really basic OpenGL and it was one of my motivators for using gl rather than vulkan as I have in other recent jams. Seems this rationale wasn't really correct!

Astral Aberration by ModdingMachine 2023-01-10T22:12:15Z

wow that was a lot of stuff in this one and i'm not quite sure how i feel about it! I felt maybe the loss of all crew members was a bit of a harsh punishment for loosing a raid, it might have been nice to have say a 50% chance of death of a crew member and the others are incapacitated for some period similar to xcom. Over all though a super cool and memorable entry

Harvest Dune by rrsmtz 2023-01-10T22:58:25Z

innovative and atmospheric, i really enjoyed this one.

Les Fleurs du Mars by tttt 2023-01-10T21:46:19Z

holy crap i loved it, looking at the title i expected some high brow arty thing and that expectation just made this oh so much better... amazing!

Glean the Luminescent by jcg 2023-01-09T23:31:36Z

Loved the art style of this but found the gameplay a little bit sluggish it felt to me like the projectiles could have used larger hit boxes to counteract the rather dark small targets i did test it in the browser though, not sure if this would be different in a larger window.

Slime Crime by No whOne 2023-01-13T18:19:26Z

how the hell did you balance this so well in such a short period of time, insanely impressive, great work!

Farm Fighter by MegaFocus 2023-01-10T22:50:48Z

cool game! were the assets made during the jam? I notice the goblin sprite looks a lot like one off reddit I noticed when looking for reference for my game (https://danieldiggle.itch.io/sunnyside)

Catchy by danmerey 2023-01-10T21:41:14Z

cool little game, I managed to catch everything except the above catfish, it's hard to think of much constructive criticism since I think you nailed the look and feel, perhaps a bit more fanfare around the speed level ups would be nice since it wasn't to obvious to me something had changed, some kind of little dash / speed boost mechanic might have been nice too to help chase down the more annoying fish

Bewitched Potatoes by aey 2023-01-09T23:14:55Z

loved the art style and feel of the attacks, I protected my house for a while but was unsure if there was a way to progress and ultimately ran out of health and died, the music and sound effects are also extremely good, did you make these made during the jam?

Boar'd'Hell by Blublu 2023-01-09T23:07:01Z

awesome game seems quite unique to me, and very polished, I found it super hard, but i'm not very good at this kind of multitasking

Unhappy Beaver by Zidoolan 2023-01-10T22:42:15Z

what xD. That was.. intense, even though as far as i could tell things randomly came from both directions in my mind they were running, grabbing sticks then running away!

Veggie Voyager by juzdepeche 2023-01-10T18:08:21Z

This was impressively robust and seemed to work pretty well, I definitely agree with the comment above that making the character a different colour to the ground would have improved it.
