I really enjoyed this! Also my son had a good time with it. I love that you made the pitch of the sound effect go up and down as you collected / returned the power. One thing that may help a little bit: it's not totally clear from your description that the "power" you collect are the little white motes floating around (I thought they were just there for aesthetics), so I kind of just sat around for a bit at first. Maybe make that clear in the instructions?

Anyway nice work! A satisfying day/night cycle and a simple but enticing aesthetic.

It was a bit hard to grasp the mechanics. On the first day I just stood still before realizing on the second day that the small circles were to be collected. The visuals are amazing.

Excellent and fun core game loop, very clever use of the lighting as well. I really liked that my buildings also ended up blocking my line of site.

Nice game, the aesthetics of light/sources is really neat. The day and night shifting gameplay was a great addition also. Would be cool to see where the game goes. Great job! :)

Loved the art style of this but found the gameplay a little bit sluggish it felt to me like the projectiles could have used larger hit boxes to counteract the rather dark small targets i did test it in the browser though, not sure if this would be different in a larger window.

Nice and fun ! Well done ! I like the change of gameplay day/night :)

aaaah this game is so pretty! this is adorable. i love the sound effects, too, and how the power bits follow you around — well done on the polish! i died on day 4 because i didn't quite understand how it worked for the first few days. so much potential, though! the colors are also amazing. wowow

the idea is brillant (hehe) and wrapped in a beautiful game, very polished. i was expecting the collected light to be attracted by you when you come close, not having to collide them, but it's ok. the color changes are beautiful. Great entry!

I really loved this entry, tower defense are always nice to play and here it fits the theme perfecty. Playing with the idea of light is also very poetic, and can be scary when we don't see what is going on. The difficulty is also nice, it took me 3 tries to win but it doesn't seem unfair. Thank you for making this game!

Its Fun But It Lacks Music!

cool mechanism to connect all stuff with the light(power)! finally rush collector and win at day 3, having fun with it!

I had a great time with this game! I managed to beat it in four cycles with only two turrets and two collectors! The audio for collecting was quite satisfying. I also lost the first time I played because I accidentally spent all my money on a turret/harvester combo and had nothing left to defend with! Then I died the second one got through.

beautiful minimal aesthetic, my eyeballs were very pleased, small touches like the source getting brighter during the night if powered properly, the elegant and delicate motion of the light particles, it was a beautiful experience

i like the fact that everything is bound to one resource - that serves the role of healt, collectibles, building resource etc - very elegant

the core gameplay loop is very nice and elegant and I enjoyed surviving as long as possible - and I knew that every mistake was my own, the game is very fair

only thing that was missing was some ambience in the background to pair with the beautiful audio effects and it would be pure heaven!

nice job! :ok_hand:

Real nice submission, especially for a Compo entry (I don't get how you guys do this so well )! It's nice and simple to understand, I immediately got the premise and could play the game to the fullest -- which can't be said about a lot of the other games I played. But that also means I can't give a *huge* amount of feedback, except for the parts that I really enjoyed about it; namely, I loved collecting more than two or three bits of light just to watch it create the little swarms (:stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:)! Half of me wished it had more than just geometric shapes for graphics, but the other half realizes that it makes the game look really sleek along with the lights and shadows, so I'm not complaining! Great entry, keep it up!

this was fun, i really like the visual of the light in the center growing in strength, and the shadow you cast from it. i wish that was integrated more into the gameplay, the idea of a central light and shadows surrounding it.

i also wish my character got more powered up the bigger the light got. maybe it did and i just didn't notice?

i found both the light points and the enemies really difficult to see on my screen, not sure if its a resolution thing, i have a HDPI display.

made it 5 cycles before becoming overwhelmed.

Cool take on the theme. The graphics are really nice, and it's an interesting take on tower defense. Personally I wish the shooting was a little easier and that it was a little easier to collect the bits from the collectors, but overall this is a nice, well-polished experience. I especially like the ascending/descending notes when you collect/drop off the pieces!

chompdev 2023-01-16 02:46

Really fun idea! I love that everything is connected to the concept of light/dark, and it's really cool how you balance what you're spending on buildings versus what you need to keep in the bank for illuminating the night battles. I also really liked being able to help during the fight, but mainly relying on the towers for the bulk of my defense. The minimal sound design is simple but pleasing as well.

I was able to survive for 10 days and get 262 light! score48.PNG

This is a really solid game! The only issue I had with it was the lighting/shadows sometimes made it difficult to see things. Otherwise it was really fun, I love tower defense and it was really smooth and polished. My favourite part was the sfx of the collecting and delivering the power though, well done!
