There had to be at least one straight up farming game, and this one was satisfying to play! I had all my hard vanished after the first day when I forgot to water the plants, but I only made that mistake once. I'm also curious... is there actually more land if you manage to get OVER 9000 gold? I quite enjoyed that little joke. It also took me a day to realize the bed lets you sleep mid day, which was a massive quality of life improvement being able to skip to the next day once everything is finished.
It would be nice to have a timer from the start to let players know how long the game would last. It's a great base for a fun not so idle idle game! The tree's reactions were also entertaining, but there wasn't much of a reason to upset the tree until the last few seconds of the game.
It took a bit to figure out how the game works, but once I learned what the mechanics were it was a ton of fun! I like how difficult it is and that you have to keep an eye on everything going on in order to meet your soul quota. This was a very impressive jam game, and the art was incredible!
The effects on the enemies were really nice! It took a while to figure out that you can harvest the town defenders after destroying their holy shield. The difference in point values between the villagers, defenders, and queen made it seem like it wasn't worth doing anything but harvesting the queen and then farming the defenders. Overall a very impressive jam game!
This game was a lot of fun! It felt quite polished for a jam game. It did take me a minute to figure out that you could pick the direction of weeds though!
This was a fun game to play! It was fun to play a fast paced precision farming game, and the intro levels quickly teach you how to play. Great job!
I'm not sure if it is the new web version or what, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to shoot. I've pressed R to enable the shooting mode, but then nothing seems to happen. Pressing left click, right click, space, enter... nothing seems to work. @allan-urique if you have any advice let me know, because this game looks like a ton of fun and I'm excited to play it :)
@theothersamp That makes sense! I saw the dreams popping up over the planet, but I assumed it was an energy shield to block the asteroids from hitting the planet. I'll give it another spin.
After playing the game I think it would be a bit more clear if the dreams only appeared on the dark side of the earth, since that is where most people would be sleeping. Another thing that would be really useful is to have a little icon next to each resource that shows what it looks like in the game.
The audio was great! The voice lines were fun, and definitely added to the experience. I thought the crouching mechanic was interesting, and just trying to keep your heart from hitting the bullets while weaving in towards the mobs was quite difficult, but that is expected during a bullet hell! The variations in the enemies also kept each encounter unique, and you really had to adapt to each mob. Overall it was a great jam game!
This was a pretty fun game to play! I thought the movement was very clean and I enjoyed finding the hard to reach seeds. My first play through I managed to miss finding the hoe for the first three minutes, so I was rushing to farm as much as possible in the last minute!
This game seemed like a great base for a board game! I know the time constraint is tight, but having a basic NPC that makes a random move each turn and trying to compete to growing x magic fruit would have made the experience worth playing alone.
I really enjoyed the graphics. The grass is nice, and the effects of the falling leaves is really cool. I also really like how knocking over the scarecrows is a risk because it stops moving you for a second. It's a fun slightly addictive game that makes you want to play again for a better high score.
I had a ton of fun playing this game! I also enjoyed the balance of the game and that the fertilizer wasn't so cheep that you could farm infinite money with it. I also liked that the cards you get each day are randomly selected and so hoarding resources isn't necessarily the best idea. Overall it was a ton of fun to play!
To see the graphics better, play the game in full screen on itch.io! The link is in the description and also here: https://lookleftstudio.itch.io/dataharvest
Hit the full screen button in the bottom right when the game begins!
Thank you so much for playing :)
I had a great time with this game! I managed to beat it in four cycles with only two turrets and two collectors! The audio for collecting was quite satisfying. I also lost the first time I played because I accidentally spent all my money on a turret/harvester combo and had nothing left to defend with! Then I died the second one got through.
This game was quite fun! I'm impressed you got all of this working in just 72 hours! I think the greatest feature is that skeletons get back up if you do not harvest them in time. I also liked the variation in abilities and how they have different tiers once you unlock them. I thought the game was too easy at first, but then the final boss almost killed me. I could not imagine letting it respawn.
This was a very relaxing game to play! The audio on the cart was also very immersive. I liked how the whirring noise sped up and slowed down seamlessly with the character.
You all absolutely killed it! The graphics were great, the music fit right in, and the character animations were nice and ominous. Even though the stakes were low (you just restart the level if you fail), I found myself on the edge of my seat not knowing if I would be caught cheating or not each time the inspector climbed the ladder. This was a very fun game to play! I also didn't manage to find the key!
This was a very impressive game jam! The only change I would have liked was a bit more feedback when you hit an enemy so that you know when your attacks are connecting. I was very impressed with the amount of detail in the environment and the characters, and I enjoyed that people would come and eat in the background as opposed to just at the bar. I also think it is incredible that Omni Jacala was able to pull of that music in just two hours! I also really appreciated the massive text letting the player know what to do and when. That's perfect for a game jam because you don't want to spend the time reading instructions. It was so nice to be able to just open it up and play. I also think it is great that you can get a team of six people together working on the same game in one weekend. You all crushed this Ludum Dare!
The animations for the character were nice, and the assets are very clean. I'm not sure if it was intentional, but if you press "d" to move right and right click to blow, the character quickly starts moving to the left, but if you aren't pressing any movement keys then the character is not affected by the right click to blow the apples. I think it would have also been nice to have apples grow back on the trees so you know when you can and cannot get apples if you miss the bucket. Overall it was a fun jam game!
You could publish your game on itch.io and provide a link in the comments!
This was a really neat game! I'd be interested to see the code behind the crop field and how the player flattens it. Is it something you built during the jam, or pulled from another project? Either way it is quite impressive! I'm also curious how you calculate the final score. I also really liked how the aliens always leave a trail through the corn field, even if you are standing tall.
@francois-dervaux, thanks for the update! You should send me a demo of the shader that bends the wheat once you get it working, I'd love to see it! Shaders are something I've been trying to learn but haven't taken too deep of a dive into yet. If you write an article or just want to share the code, let me know about it at LookLeftStudio@gmail.com
This was a neat little puzzle game! The only change I would add would be to have the disaster occur the second you click to put it down as opposed to going to press OK each time.
This was a pleasantly difficult game, and I managed to prevent 37 days of harvest! My only complaint is that the second fireball seemed useless because it was difficult to find a time when it would not hit as many red or red/blue plants as the others.
