LD52 — Harvest

Harvest From Your Success by jk5000 2023-01-16T12:34:07Z

Quite an interesting approach to the theme, I loved that. The camera shaking was a bit disturbing. I enjoyed the graphics and the overall atmosphere. For the ending, my playthrough ended just as I was turning a corner and it felt like a cliffhanger/a bit incomplete. Maybe getting out of the labyrinth in a wide meadow like place could have been a better ending for success. (Like discovering the real success should have felt like freedom, not chains.)

Harvest From Your Success by jk5000 2023-01-16T14:32:12Z

@jk5000 I understand what you want to convey. This is not the same incomplete feeling I get from the ending. Incomplete as if saying "try all you want but you won't get there.". Success itself wouldn't mean reaching an empty wide meadow either, it would be just a new state of mind. Even turning the corner could have been enough. Some spark of change and slight hope. But it ended in the same enclosed area where I started the game. But of course that is all about personal preference and the way you want to tell the story. I enjoyed the overall experience nonetheless. :D

H. R. Vest by mvasko2 2023-01-11T20:09:59Z

The game caught the eerie lab atmosphere quite well and it made me curious to learn more (so to play more). Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to progress. I was stuck at burner, used the spoiler then stuck with the padlock. Prompt says the digits are shuffled, arranged them from 2 to 9 but nothing happens I must be missing something... For that adding a gameplay/walkthrough video would be very helpful for anyone who couldn't progress and give up. Also making the interactable objects slightly different from the background would help as well.

H. R. Vest by mvasko2 2023-01-11T21:17:44Z

@tildecat Oh, that ending was funny. Glad I finished it.

Midday Garden by Dustyroom 2023-01-12T11:06:28Z

Very lovely looking game. The art style is so beautiful and consistent! As for character's movement, I would have preferred it a bit faster.

A Day in the Life of Death by DDRKirbyISQ 2023-01-12T11:31:46Z

This game is great for a jam game! I liked how the hearts and notes follow the music rhythm (though I didn't understand if pressing any key mattered for Lala parts), how red strip on the paper aligns as a guide for the harvest, style, animations, story... I enjoyed playing it to the end.

Warden of the Woods by arzi 2023-01-12T11:49:41Z

Game pace and character movement are a bit slow. I enjoyed the atmosphere. It is a sweet game with smiling trees in a fairy land. Apparently, even the bosses in fairy lands aren't much different

Dead End Job by fatPenguin 2023-01-15T15:58:34Z

Wow! This game is quite polished, almost a commercial game, just requires minor tweaks. Difficulty and currency needs some balancing. Also, I would prefer attacking on mouse direction, it would feel much more natural. Graphics and the sounds set such a perfect atmosphere. The characters are adorable! And a bat sidekick as a lantern!? Oh, the irony!

Hex-Yield by AndideBob 2023-01-13T11:10:53Z

I had quite good time playing. Art style is so beautiful, I was curious to see all the combinations. Great game!

Crowings Do by PatrickRMC 2023-01-13T10:58:09Z

The audio is so funny, it made me enjoy the game so much more! I loved the simplicity in this one.

Art of Occult Harvest by Jajakeim 2023-01-11T19:27:02Z

This game has quite a relaxing atmosphere. Simple and neat execution of an alchemy game.

E.C.F - Extreme Conditions Farming by dimaswift 2023-01-11T21:37:13Z

Oh, that "how to play" button is a great feature! I loved it!

Skin Birds by foxxy 2023-01-27T17:32:12Z

I didn't expect to have that much fun. Loved the gameplay :D

Apothecary by benskca 2023-01-20T13:58:57Z

Oooooh, I thought the gray outcome of wrong combination was charcoal. I thought I was picking it up under the cauldron and couldn't proceed for some time. :see_no_evil: So some interaction feedback (prompts over objects, particles for cauldron fire etc.) would help a lot. Also simple doodles-diagrams of the recipes would fit to the overall style.

After figuring out that cauldron part I enjoyed the game. Graphics are clear and cute. This is a lovely game for compo.

Pulling Teeth by Deprecat 2023-01-21T10:20:32Z

Ahaha, great business concept for the fairy! I loved the humor and the art style in this one! :D

Hedgehog Tree by Alexascher 2023-01-10T20:26:44Z

I enjoyed playing this game so much. The progress of the difficulty and the challenges were adjusted quite well. The mechanics are streamlined fun. Graphics and the atmosphere are lovely and relaxing.

Planetary Planter by MidoriMelody 2023-01-11T17:09:55Z

Little carrots trying to run, I wasn't expecting that, it was so cute.

Apple Harvest by PROJECTaroid 2023-01-17T10:05:17Z

Very relaxing experience. The shader looks gorgeous and I loved how apple spawning composes a melody.

When I work with multiple audio sources and they work simultaneously the pitch and volume works weird. The sounds play one over the other creating only indistinguishable noise. I would appreciate if you can share how you managed this to work so perfectly?

Apple Harvest by PROJECTaroid 2023-01-17T18:35:33Z

@projectaroid Play one shot caused the same problem for multiple enemies but I didn't think of the mixer, I will check that one. Thank you so much for the help and this peaceful entry! :D

Salvage City by StormCat 2023-01-21T09:59:59Z

It might be intentional but character movement felt a bit uncontrollable, it accelerates too fast for more 'precise' movement. Especially on the building part, I started randomly placing the buildings, but in quite a short time I ended up not being able to find empty spot in any layers because pressing on right and left keys the buildings slide more than it should and always ends up missing the tiny empty space.

But apart from these details I really loved the idea and the overall atmosphere! Great entry! Oh, and ideas @Deprecat suggested would fit so perfectly! It would be so much fun chasing down and devouring human/props!

Untitled Squirrel Game by TureGrappa 2023-01-12T12:12:07Z

With this camera angle, most of the time I watched shifting grass. Controllable camera height and direction would fit better to this game. Also playing a squirrel in a game like this it would be fun to climb up and jump off the trees. Peaceful environment and a very sweet character.

Nimkip! by T C 2023-01-11T10:10:10Z

Oh, I felt sad for every single nimkip that died in the battle, they are so cute with their tiny voices. I enjoyed the gameplay though some worker nimkips were feeling a bit lazy.

Farm Patronum! by MrchickenBoy 2023-01-13T09:17:30Z

This one is a neat and consistent game! Very simple concept executed well. I especially liked the vfx, sfx and camera movement feedback when I kill the enemies, subtle but effective.

Radiance by XOREAXEAX 2023-01-15T11:46:45Z

In this current state the gameplay is not very gripping but there is a great potential with such graphics and sfx. This one is a very atmospheric game, I loved the overall feeling of it. Shaders look great and sound effects/music are great fit. I wonder, is there an ending, like does the planet get depleted? :eyes:

Arnold the Reaper by D3kryption 2023-01-11T17:40:17Z

Intro, humor and the story was really fun! Great graphics and atmosphere as well. It is just that the gameplay was a bit monotonous for me. I couldn't find the motive to go after the 3rd one. Some interactions with that beautiful environment, character comments on the environments/npcs or interacting with the targets after killing them, these kind of minor details might spice it up.

KICK by taxol 2023-01-13T14:30:52Z

Holding and releasing kick at any point of the red bar ends up with the same amount, yields always the needed amount, nothing less nothing more? Am I doing something wrong?

Harvest Net by YoungArtifact 2023-01-24T13:00:48Z

The gameplay is a bit monotonous, there isn't much rewarding/satisfying things to make the player go on for long. Just a passing thought, after picking all the apples on this tree, transitioning to another harvest area and chasing after a flying apple with the net to that area or simply some visual feedback from crates could enchant it. :)

Regardless, I enjoyed the overall atmosphere and graphics, it is one lovely, relaxing game.

Juicy Reaping by Kita 2023-01-15T14:58:32Z

The game is fun to play. I loved how the harvested plants become weapons! But game difficulty needs some adjustment. The game becomes overcrowded with enemies in no time. Overall a funny and an entertaining game with lovely graphics!

Hermesh by Kultuk 2023-01-15T15:28:37Z

One neat and brief platformer game executed well: cute characters, very fitting sfx, good way of progressing story and character skills.

Not side-scrolling on the edges felt awkward a bit. 'Freeing' the ducks they slow down but in addition changing their transparency would fit this game providing the player a better feedback. In overall I had fun playing it, great jam game!

nut another harvest story by WhaleJam 2023-01-11T10:26:49Z

This game is so adorable and the art style is gorgeous! I had come across this kind of text animation in "The Lion's Song" and it enchants the mood so dearly, fits this game so well!

Christmas Hustle by john-wuller 2023-01-12T13:19:27Z

At the beginning I thought that coffee was a timed boost but trying it and speeding up, the game became fun. The song was a bit high pitched for my taste and the gameplay became a bit repetitive after a while but atmosphere, story and humor was excellent, I enjoyed this game!

Pseudo-Harvest by JfeeefL 2023-01-13T11:35:07Z

Very funny story and fun gameplay! Great concept and execution.

Catchy by danmerey 2023-01-20T14:24:26Z

My only complaint with such a neat game could be that there wasn't sound and mini details on the map to be discovered, spicing the gameplay slightly. (There had to be a letter bottle! :p) But there was a huge time limit so... I enjoyed the antique map atmosphere. The illusion of depth for the fish is achieved well. Playing with the sail and using the wind force was quite fun to play with.

The Time Traveler's Garden by Drizzle Games 2023-01-17T10:17:03Z

Great (pun) name for the game! Oh, I had quite fun playing this game. That cheery tone and the scary one sets the mood so perfectly! This is one joyful-funny game, great work!

An Apple a Day by Hulya 2023-01-10T10:36:36Z

@slantyoj Thank you for the feedback. I agree, collisions getting stuck on platforms and speed inconsistency annoys me so much.

An Apple a Day by Hulya 2023-01-10T19:34:05Z

@slantyoj Thanks! I used 3DsMax for modeling, Illustrator for the textures and default URP settings in Unity.

An Apple a Day by Hulya 2023-01-11T09:45:22Z

@jackofcups Thank you, glad you enjoyed the mood! I had fun finding animations for this character.

An Apple a Day by Hulya 2023-01-11T16:14:21Z

@lookleftstudio It was intentional, wanted to create some kind of force backfiring if you try to move forward in any direction. As for growing apples, if you jump off a platform or fall down it resets the apple spawning, trees grow more apples but I should have definitely added a visual indicator of it. I am glad you enjoyed!

An Apple a Day by Hulya 2023-01-11T16:33:03Z

@d3kryption Thank you! Awesome to hear that you enjoyed the mood and uplifting tone of the game. I had fun especially choosing the animations :D

An Apple a Day by Hulya 2023-01-11T16:41:12Z

@midorimelody I'm glad to hear that you found it to be fun! I hoped to create something like reverse backfiring movement for right click force but I guess I failed on that. The apples spawn again if you jump off the platform but I should change it to a more logical way. Thank you for taking the time to play and leave a comment.

An Apple a Day by Hulya 2023-01-11T17:00:32Z

@poshdan As the cursor position didn't have any effect hiding it was intentional, backfiring movement was also intentional but the rest of the movement instability and collision problems was definitely not. :see_no_evil: So sorry for the overall frustration. My jam aim was to practice and learn Unity's physics, character controller was opted-out. Thank you so much for your feedback and suggestions; I will check that input value tweaks!

An Apple a Day by Hulya 2023-01-12T10:34:14Z

@rezioz To avoid that lock, jumping off the platform resets apple spawn but quite illogically I didn't make any indicator of it, sorry :see_no_evil: I am glad you enjoyed the concept!

An Apple a Day by Hulya 2023-01-12T13:29:03Z

@hmrpf :open_mouth: I didn't think of upgrades, great idea! May go and sell the apples at some spots, I can visualize the shop already! After bettering the physics I may try implementing that! Thank you for taking the time to play and leave feedback, glad you enjoyed!

An Apple a Day by Hulya 2023-01-13T08:48:58Z

@mrchickenboy Yes, I added a single simple box collider to the parent objects of the models and scaled them accordingly. What is the alternative, I would appreciate if you could point me in the right direction? :eyes:

An Apple a Day by Hulya 2023-01-13T09:07:06Z

@fluburbio Thank you so much! Awesome to hear that you enjoyed!

An Apple a Day by Hulya 2023-01-13T09:21:55Z

@mrchickenboy Oh, that is very practical, I will try that. Thank you so much for taking the time!

An Apple a Day by Hulya 2023-01-13T13:18:33Z

@taxol I'm glad you had fun! Thank you so much!

An Apple a Day by Hulya 2023-01-14T17:33:42Z

@patrickrmc Oh, on left click or hold, a weaker force is applied and the apples move slower (for closer baskets); on right click stronger force is applied. Thank you so much for playing!

An Apple a Day by Hulya 2023-01-15T11:38:37Z

@xoreaxeax Thank you so much for playing and leaving feedback!

An Apple a Day by Hulya 2023-01-15T16:23:47Z

@angiemon Absolutely, I should have added the apple meshes back, even they could have grown without jumping off...who knows what I was thinking.

I think it must be about my "perfect" positioning of the next platform, it is activated on the right bottom, very easy to miss. Then there is a basket escalator that carries you to the end platform, up or down according to amount you collected.

Oh, that little town idea is soooo awesome, it would fit great with the idea of mini shops I have in mind!!! I plan on improving this game so feedback is very valuable, thank you for such a great feedback!

An Apple a Day by Hulya 2023-01-15T16:43:57Z

@angiemon Best of luck to you too, seasoned jammer :D

An Apple a Day by Hulya 2023-01-17T09:51:31Z

@artsyomni Oh, I agree the character and animation assets from Mixamo are great! You can also add your own human model in T-pose and it creates bones! (the environment assets are modelled by me.) I am currently working on improving the basic mechanics but these are absolutely great suggestions I would love to add! Wind would spice up the difficulty quite well! Thank you so much for playing and leaving great feedback!

An Apple a Day by Hulya 2023-01-17T09:55:16Z

@projectaroid Yes, I agree with key-bindings, jumping key will definitely change. Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed!

An Apple a Day by Hulya 2023-01-18T06:08:57Z

@pinchazumos The build on itchio and ludum are the same; on Firefox itchio runs it but ludum doesn't. That is so weird. Thank you for letting me know! I am glad you enjoyed the atmosphere, thank you for playing!

An Apple a Day by Hulya 2023-01-20T13:10:03Z

@benskca Not much, I guess I must have used very basics in some projects at some point but not having any understanding of it. Now, I've understood very well not to use simple box colliders in general and that I should also add frictionless physical material to those said colliders as well.

I am glad you enjoyed the game. Thank you so much, your comment made me so happy!

An Apple a Day by Hulya 2023-01-21T09:22:25Z

@brainles-etertainment Thank you so much for playing. Awesome to hear that you enjoyed! :)

@youngartifact Thank you so much for playing! :)

Energy Harvest by SlantyOJ 2023-01-10T10:43:28Z

I like 'move two players together' concept. It is fun. Just, I had hard time with the camera angles and zoom.

Money grows on trees by Fluburbio 2023-01-12T12:54:36Z

What a prosper and abundant harvest that is! Very sweet art style!

Harvest Heroes: a text-based anime-style battling game by algo_baker 2023-01-11T20:53:18Z

image_2023-01-11_233433349.png I enjoyed playing it! The story turned out so lovely. Instead of fighting I used good will and that caused quite a damage for Thorne as well. This would make great practice tool of creative writing.

The overall look and feel is very beautiful but I would suggest minor tweaks. That input box does not look very fitting aesthetically. It doesn't align with the submit button nor with its style. Also the text field is too small, filling with a long paragraph I wasn't able to read what I had written.

Dr Bentham by hmrpf 2023-01-12T13:52:17Z

Unfortunately most of the time there was only one patient at a time, others didn't spawn much and we lost so many. The decay speed being so fast didn't help either. 😅 Overall atmosphere and graphics are consistent, nice and fitting to the concept. It is a neat concept, had fun; unexpectedly especially on "How to play" screen.

Wave 21 by AlexClay 2025-04-24T14:24:19Z

That game was fun. I got to eat a whole helicopter, but unfortunately, I died crashing onto the shore. :D

Profundo by Marcos Tulio Cavalcante 2025-04-20T12:45:38Z

Such a cute submarine :D I loved the pixel art.

Drillraph by DaivyIsHere 2025-04-20T13:04:39Z

Neat! I enjoyed how the upgrades directly impacts gameplay, it made progression feel meaningful and fun.

Dungeons Below by oopsvincent 2025-04-24T14:36:25Z

The motion blur during the breathing animation made me feel like the little Viking guy was having an anxiety atack! 😂 I loved the pixel art.
