LD52 — Harvest

Our Hill of Stars by limered 2023-01-09T21:41:19Z

Had a lot of fun working through the first five or so levels of this. Heres some feedback. I hope you find it helpful! Things I loved: - Really nice way to use the theme. Core mechanic is a lot of fun. - The actual level design is also very nice. The puzzles were legitimately interesting - The sprites and the game art are a lot of fun

Suggestions: - In unity web player, the movement of the tractor was very choppy. It seems to jitter back and forth as it moved. Not sure if it was the animation or the web player - It is a bit slow to click a square 4 times to get an arrow in the direction I want. I think it is a mix of responsiveness- the animation makes it feel a bit slow to respond to a click, and the mechanic itself of needing to click up to four times. - I could see this working very well as a mobile game - The levels were always hard enough to be interesting, but I would have liked to skip ahead to some of the harder puzzles without grinding through the early ones.

Things I enjoyed: - Very creative way to use the theme. Core game mechanic is fun and addictive - Controls are simple and intuitive. - Art and sound is very cute- enjoyed it. - Gameplay and animation is very smooth and intuitive. The game feels very responsive to my actions - The game is legitimately difficult and interesting.

Suggestions (maybe out the scope of the constraints of LD): - It was not that obvious to me at first why the water or mud balls might be useful until the field started changing. Maybe prompting earlier that something like this will happen will make it clear. - There is quite a lot of text that I have to read outside of the game to workout what to do. I think it is likely possible to add some hints-in game without doing a fullblown tutorial, to make it clear who the game works and what the controls are. - High-score board. Could maybe be some interesting mechanics for multiplayer or coop. - Would be amazing as a mobile game.

This game is amazing! The art and mood both fits the theme and is stunning. The core mechanic of controlling an objects rotation was also totally new to me! Control-wise I found it quite difficult to coordinate on a trackpad.

Great game! Think I've never played a game with totally hand-drawn art before and it was totally charming. Level of completeness was impressive including the fact you had sound. My main suggestion would be that the spacebar dive command felt a little off in terms of responsivess/feel. The left/right control felt just right though.

Fantastic game especially the art, use of the theme and simple addictive mechanic. Would love to play it as a mobile game that goes on forever, gaining in ridiculous complexity. Suggestion: buying the auto-harvester and auto-planter at first can kind of penalize you, because they are slow and you can't harvest while a crop is being auto-harvested. Allowing me to overrule the auto-harvester by clicking would get rid of this penalty.

Farm to Table: Wizard Edition by fc85057 2023-01-10T14:07:50Z

Not sure if the zoom in-out meant that I am missing some menu or something but after following the tutorial twice I could't work out what to do. I guess I need to start by planting some seeds to get crops, but I start off with 0 seeds. How do I get seeds to start doing stuff? (Did not leave a rating yet because of this- I'll try again later and give a rating and review if I'm able to get started)

HARRR Vests by Lomby 2023-01-19T16:23:19Z

Really enjoyed the play on the theme, pixel art work and idea of the mechanic. Here's some suggestions from my playthrough (mostly outside the scope of what could be done in the time you had): - The camera movement could feel more like it was coming from a wave on the sea. - If made longer would be nice to have a story to tie together the tailoring activities. - Penalties for incorrect stitching (I realised I could spam the stitch button)

Seven Favors by surr-sloidah 2023-01-13T22:21:23Z

Cool graphics, well integrated sound. Found the difficulty really high. Was only able to kill a couple of heretics each day. Maybe would have found it easier if i had an xbox controller. Menu felt a little out of place. Great game!

No Harvest by RogerW 2023-01-13T19:24:40Z

Very innovative/fun use of the theme. Game was really challenging. Would be cool to have a leaderboard. Sound is really great but would like the option to mute if I want to play quietly.

Eat your fruits by aduermael 2023-01-13T09:37:19Z

This is absolutely ridiculously good for something built this fast. And the game is actually active too! I had no trouble matching an opponent. I struggled at it because I've never played minecraft but the action was there, movement and controls did feel responsive even though I'm a noob.

Heart's Harvest by AidanBacon 2023-01-10T21:00:21Z

What I liked: Game idea is really cute. I like the art and how ambitious it is- the map is pretty big and the detail on the house is lovely. Incredible how you build something so ambitious in just a weekend.

Suggestions: I wasn't able to progress that far because I found the interface was quite unintuitive. I wasn't able to chop the potatoes by following the instruction to click again after placing them. It took me quite a long time to work out how to plant seeds because of how the whole active item slot works.

A Conversation With A Stranger by Adam Burt 2023-01-13T09:18:13Z

Cool! I can imagine writing all the different paths etc must have taken ages. Your work made me look up Twine which I'd never heard of before, even though I also made a text-based game this LD (thanks for the review btw:)). I liked how you used the theme in a super non-obvious way, not directly to progress the story but to add something to it in a more subtle way

THE REVERSE CARD: Harvest the ladybug! by Acehunter 2023-01-13T18:56:12Z

Movements was really smooth and fun twist with the reverse event. Also cool that you made it in scratch
