LD52 — Harvest

Star Crystals by OddballDave 2023-01-09T13:00:19Z

The physics are great. At first the game seemed simple but then all of a sudden, the levels got harder and the physics possibilities dawned on me! Good audio and visuals too. I agree with the other commenter who said an instant restart would be handy. Maybe also a hint system for those trickier levels! Not super close to the theme, but a good game.

Agricultural Express by DeathBySnail 2023-01-09T13:39:01Z

I spent way too long before I realised I had to click "tomatoes" to plant anything! Good production values. Particularly thought the music was good, and the town names are inspired. Fun experience!

Living as a _ in a Small Town by Unentokku 2023-01-11T21:18:53Z

I like text-based games like this, so I had a good time wandering around. It would've been nice to see more descriptions, and more on-theme material. I also didn't feel much sense of direction or urgency, which can be tricky to do in games like this - some kind of quest or mission would help with that. Thanks for sharing!

Tony Crow's Pro Scyther by auxC 2023-01-09T21:51:45Z

Well worth playing! It lagged a fair bit in my browser, but when it was smooth it was really enjoyable - maybe a bit too much "snap" on the grind, but undoubtedly a blast to chain together combos. Good graphics and audio. Great level design. Well done!

Bungee Pumpkin Harvester by KOHCEPBA 2023-01-11T15:57:41Z

Really like that you did something new with the controls. I wasn't entirely sure if my saw was working or if I was supposed to press a button to hit the cones with it? Or is it a case of needing to hit them at speed to avoid taking damage? Either way it was fun to move around and collect experience. Well done.

The Cactilogue by Sarah 2023-01-11T22:25:39Z

Fun little chill experience! Effective artwork and good SFX. The little mini games to pick flowers definitely added an extra dimension!

Lo-Fi Harvest & Chill by gamesplusjames 2023-01-11T15:51:44Z

Really well done - relaxing and ticks that completionist box. Reminded me of PowerWash Simulator, in a good way. Good use of music too. Everything was smooth.

Harvest Roll by NekuSoul 2023-01-09T21:44:53Z

I liked the idea of this a lot - but I found it a bit buggy to play. I got a dice stuck under my cursor which I couldn't use anywhere! Also, I went through a lot of dice but never saw a single one with a number above 3. Which is a shame because the missions I had needed dice of >3 and >4. A good effort, which I enjoyed playing. The art is charming but could probably use just a bit more clarity about what things are where.

Robert the Druid has Made a Terrible Mistake by Mohamed_DKD 2023-01-09T13:20:57Z

Good music, and a good little tower defence mechanic with the tradeoff of gambling on removing turrets in order to add more. It got really easy - feels like it needs more tree types, more enemy variety, and more levels. But the basics are good!

Agricultural Ascension by Sibi 2023-01-09T22:14:54Z

Inventive, with good visuals and audio! As intended, I found it quite relaxing to sit and puzzle out. My only gripe is that I experienced some bugginess with the undo button, creating stacks of flowers that seemed to be a drain on performance. Other than that, this was a really great experience!

Cultist Garden by GreenRadiation 2023-01-11T22:02:59Z

Your HTML5 link is currently 404ing for me. Might be worth restoring if you can!

District 17 by Paulsams 2023-01-11T16:13:08Z

Good use of mood, although I confess I have no real idea what the story was about! I had fun exploring around a bit, then I got stuck in an elevator. Still, a good time. Good use of music too.

District 17 by Paulsams 2023-01-11T16:52:08Z

@paulsams I was in the elevator, and it went up, I got out and explored the floor but couldn't seem to do anything there yet (I needed a key I think?) so I went back in the lift and it didn't go anywhere. I could still move around but I think I was trapped? Sorry if I missed something I was supposed to do! I tried pressing all the buttons.

DeadLyft by JoshH 2023-01-11T19:53:10Z

Really neat concept, and good execution with some very fine writing in there. Lots of little quirks and touches, and I like that it gradually fleshed the character out from stereotype into something more. Thanks for sharing!

Wheat Master by nyxkn 2023-01-09T21:14:28Z

This is a good clicker! At first I thought it was a bit slow, but once it got into the swing of things I found myself really enjoying getting all the little upgrades and balancing my auto plant with my auto harvest, plus my personal clicks. Good music too. Well done!

Farmer Rabbit's Wild Ride by joyrev 2023-01-11T19:42:37Z

Interesting control scheme and angle, I had a good time shooting carrots. Nice 3D work too, and good sound effects.

Children of the Combine by MilkWine 2023-01-11T13:21:13Z

I found this genuinely amusing, so top marks for humour! What a wonderful, absurd lore you have. The game ran pretty well for me too. Some sound issues where audio clips kept playing when they should have been cut short by me moving on. Still, great work.

Organigrow by Phillip Scott 2023-01-11T19:45:55Z

Really impressive solo effort - in particular the fully realised 3D world, which looks fantastic. Interesting level design. Well done!

Your Harvest Story by Andreia 2023-01-09T12:55:20Z

Good little animations, sounds and audio which does make it feel like a card game. The game itself is a little basic - it would be great if the player had more agency, like the ability to trade a card and hope for a better one, or earn more cards to try and turn the tide when a year is going badly! Very on theme.

Fruit Frenzy by kirypto 2023-01-09T08:29:51Z

Fun little twist on a "whack a mole" style game, where you have to wait before hitting things rather than hitting them immediately. I liked the music and the visual style. It would be helpful if the game had a built-in tutorial, I ended up losing my first "life" just to figure out how it worked.

Les Fleurs du Mars by tttt 2023-01-11T20:45:42Z

Great mechanic - in particular the risk vs reward of letting the flowers grow more to get more nectar, which then makes it harder to cut them in time! Good music, clear visuals. A really good effort!

Harrr'vest by xHadie 2023-01-11T21:58:41Z

Thanks for sharing this - interesting idea, with some unusual quirks like the scroll wheel navigation which was novel. I think with some expansion it could be a nice turn based game - it's currently a little barebones. But still, fun to check out!

Christmas Hustle by john-wuller 2023-01-10T19:22:13Z

Festive! I had fun playing this, although it took me a little while to get the hang of it. Good audio. The controls felt "slidey" which I suppose is part of the fun but it did annoy me a bit, I just wanted to move quicker! Good use of backstory/lore as others have said. Well done!

equniox - the harvest moon by Dawnreaver 2023-01-13T08:40:40Z

Cool concept! I couldn't see all the info at the top in the browser (maybe an issue just for me) so I was trying to keep track of my harvest in my head for a bit! The idea of miracle cards is a nice additional mechanic that adds an extra layer. I think the game would benefit from more cards overall (I saw a lot of repeats), and maybe a slightly faster deal - e.g you could get three events at once maybe, which would make things happen quicker and also add an interesting dimension to the divine intervention card where you've gotta weigh up if it's worth losing the good to get rid of the bad. Good music!

Blocky Battleships by FrederoxDev 2023-01-09T12:17:43Z

Wow, this game is hard! I found the build stage a little glitchy - kept getting guns stuck in places I couldn't remove because they were too close to other blocks and snapped back in. Then, when I did eventually get a decent ship, I was terrible at the combat. Not sure it's that on-theme. I had fun though! The random part drawing and building was cool and the battles were enjoyable even though I got wrecked every time.

Pumpkin panic by _michdev 2023-01-09T08:39:34Z

I liked the gameplay here, although I found it rather difficult. Audio wise, the noise of the cornlet was a bit annoying but otherwise the sound was good - could've maybe used a 'death noise' and a 'taking damage noise' that were easily distinguishable. The use of the theme was good, and it definitely gave me harvest time vibes.

Alien Fruit Harvest by kossnocorp 2023-01-09T08:45:19Z

Good audio, good physics - a really good effort. It gets quite difficult - it would be easier if you had some air control after you 'launch', but I suppose the difficulty and accidentally falling back down really far is part of the fun!

Word Harvest by Steelfeathers 2023-01-11T19:35:39Z

Fun typing game! And I liked the artwork. My only issue is it has a very large size, so I couldn't see all of it on my laptop screen at once! Agree with the other commenters that some sound effects would go a long way here. Well done though!

Jacques Boomer's Garden by Globul 2023-01-11T19:38:31Z

Interesting movement style, kind of like a puzzle! Good use of sound effects, and the music was decent. Pushing godzillas off was fun!

Harvest Heroes: a text-based anime-style battling game by algo_baker 2023-01-09T22:02:15Z

I have no idea how you did this, but the game really did respond to the things I typed in! I didn't type anything too crazy, but still, the responses felt really neat and like I was really influencing the story. Is this driven by some kind of ChatGPT-style thing? However you've done it, it feels cool to see it unfold. Well done.

Pipeline Defender by PapaD 2023-01-09T12:30:44Z

There's the bones of a really cool game here. The idea and the slow zoom out as it gets harder is all really clever. I found the character a little hard to control - easy enough to move around and shoot basic targets, but hard to pull off jumping trick shots like I wanted. And I kept thinking I could stand on the pipes. I missed a lot, but maybe I'm just bad at it! I also didn't know what any of the items really did. Despite that, I think I got really far? The music didn't work for me, even on a second playthrough. I still think this is pretty neat though, well done!

Reaper's Holiday by JoeFazz 2023-01-10T11:52:20Z

This is fun! Good use of the art (ghosts in particular) and audio, with responsive feeling controls. My only issue is that it's so hard - I can't beat the ghosts! But it's got the bones (no pun intended) of a good arcade game for sure. Well done!

Plant, Harvest, Make money! by huozhedexiaoc 2023-01-11T13:11:34Z

I found the interface a little hard to understand, but once I knew what I was doing I enjoyed trying to puzzle out where to plant and when! I think the text descriptions could be clearer too. But it's definitely an enjoyable overall puzzle!

Don't Stop The Beet by Wrong Timeline 2023-01-09T22:26:26Z

Reminds me of Vib Ribbon! Which is no bad thing. I couldn't seem to nail the timing - on the basic tutorial it helped to tick the box but then I had to untick it again to get any points on the beet drop level. Still, I had a good time. The music is good, which is essential for a game like this. Well done!
