I AM THE MASTER OF FARMS

@autogibbon O rely? image_2023-01-09_204107307.png
@phillip-scott Sweaty try hard. Also clearly hacking.
Can't reach that gun! How do I jump up there?
@lukas-boersma Oh! its maybe a little tight! Try Double jumping - hold button for longer/higher jumps
This is a neat idea :) I love the presentation and the art-style, it's really well done.
Gameplay wise, I think it was a bit too physics based, throwing guns away often meant I'd lose them amidst crops, and the seedgun proved to be quite unreliable and wasteful when trying to plant crops.
If this were given more time to be tweaked and refined I can see this being a very fun and casual little farming game.
I had difficulty reaching the seed gun, but it's a nice looking game and interesting concept.
Very nice graphics but gameplay was a bit stale. Also i missed the music during my harvesting :(
I'd agree with @surr-soidah there, the controls could use some work (onscreen relevant key indicators would help) but overall it's really highly polished and looks amazing for a solo game.
i like the robot, just wish you could seen his front side. His hat brings back memories of my dad when he was alive before his accident.
@surr-sloidah @919113 @hoeleboele @moffkalast Thanks for playing, the game has controller support but I was a little late with testing it so the button prompts had to be dropped same with making the tools "hover".
Took me a little bit to get to the seed gun as I was exploring - nice solid foundation for a game with good graphics.
Amazing entry in the solo category! For me the controlls felt very nice once I've read up on all the buttons. I felt like the Defib is a bit pointless because once its time to plant there is SO much growing (while I was planting the first seeds were already fully grown). But maybe thats just the case with my strategy. Loved it!
@upcharlie Thanks for playing :smile:
@thejan14 I added it more for the spectacle and fun - you only need it to get the best highscores also my kids liked it
lovely Idea. New and fresh. Liked the Defipad. Nice work. keep the good work
@keip Thanks for your kind words!
I love the physics based gameplay, and the mechanics here are very fun. The farming with a gun that blows/sucks air reminds me of Slime Rancher. This game is polished in every aspect, and very impressive solo entry! Below is my score on my second attempt image_2023-01-09_193551519.png
The graphics are really beautiful.
I had a hard time trying to understand the game without reading the "How To?", but once I read it, my goal was crystal clear and my try-hard mode got activated.
I find the blower tool really original, it is a nice game mechanic!
Good job!:)
@taek Thanks for playing, Well done I love slime rancher, I had a number of ideas akin to plorts
@juzdepeche Thank you for the kind words - I love that try hard mode was activated, a few of my friends and family have had similar reactions
The game looks really good. The controls are a bit tricky at first, maybe showing the "How To" at the start of the game would help! Had fun playing, thanks for the game :)
Love the graphics, Nice innovation, Good game
@coke @darkpavlov Thanks for playing
Showing the "How To" is a great idea - it was a little rushed
Total points 32! Took a while to get the hang of the farming. Impressive game in such a short time! Hope you continue developing this, I think it has potential. Reminds me of Slime Rancher. Great job!
I feel that I did very bad at your game when I can see how much points other players did...
Nonetheless, this is a great entry. Smooth controls, nice simple graphics. The howto could have been a bit clearer but, who I am to judge, mine was confusing too I think... Haha !
Well done anyways. Great job.
Fantastic, the art is so polished and the little touches like the car going round were nice and made it feel real!
Once I found the tools I figured out what to do and was off and away. Character controller felt great too, especially the double jumping.
Nice one!
jamml.PNG
A totally different organ havesting mood approach to the game I made, but really nice! I like the fiddliness of it with the physics, makes it unreliably fun! Congrats :)
Great graphics! Overall very nice
Reall nice game! I only got to 80 points so far but I will play the game again later and then tryhard it :D
Image1.png Ok that was actually cool. I didn't expect to like a farming game. Only thing that was a bit frustrating is switching between weapons and finding them in this swarm of seeds and plants. I like a lot the mechanic of throwing objects in the hole! Good job!
A bit difficult to get the hang of, but it's a pretty cool idea. Couldn't wrap my head around making a 3D game like this so quickly. The different types of tools are cool, too. But I agree that it's a little too physics-based, with throwing around tools becoming a little tedious. Either way, awesome job!
Great visuals and a unique idea!
I liked the low poly style very much, and the cars running are a nice touch. cool blur effect , it adds to the game. i kinda lost my tools left and right and wish there was some kinda mechanic to switch weapons easier. Very good effort
score.pnghttps://ldjam.com/markdown
My score ain't much, but it's honest work.
I'm really amazed by the fact that this is a solo entry. From great visuals to a fun game idea with details using particles. Love it!
I really like the use of a slightly shallow depth of field! That, plus some vivid colours and nice models and you get a really good looking game scene!
Very funny and cute game. I don't like Blower. It's very hard to deliver vegetables. Drop items is very strange and funny feature =0 Good Job!
It looks and feels great! I think it's missing a clear goal for the player. I took a while to realize what I was supposed to be doing, and equally as important, why I was doing it - a clear indication of what is my goal and why should I care about it, if that makes sense? But there's something really good here!
@hfsevans Thanks for playing - I mean its a simple point pusher with some "funny" physics get the most points in the time given.
@ukirain There is a method to it, but it could be a little more forgiving I agree
@ben-toosey Thanks, been trying to find a good mix of effect, palettes etc
@kita good score - Thanks for playing!
@kostas-nik yea I spent far to much time on those little details - the weapon throwing was meant to feel chaotic and give you something to be purposeful with - I did plan on making them hover and sparkle but ran out of time
@timur-bahadir Thank you for playing
@nikkunakku Thanks for playing and your feedback - the tool switching can be tedious, but I general make a pile of them near my farm.
@climbing-dolphin Great score - thanks for playing and your feedback
@stefan-laimer good job - good luck with your try harding
@lerg Thanks I started learning 3D in January last year, feel like I am making some progress
@elflashor Hah Will have to check yours out  yea the physical tools was meant to add to that feeling with a OMG where is my HOE! kind of vibe
@procrasteroid Thanks for playing and your kind words
@yamzho hah I just hope you had some fun! I had to drop most of the tutorial and took some hurried screenshots - thanks for playing!
@soonthespoon hah slime rancher was in my head when the theme was announced
Thank you all for the positive comments and feedback
Well that's a bit disturbing take on the theme, heh.
Spent too much time plowing and just running around before figuring out what I had to do. Mechanically pretty solid, movement flows well, tools mode switch UI works well. Overall solid entry.
Heads up: Your game is broken for me on the Ludum Dare page (Firefox on windows 11) but working on itch.io.
This is what's happening for me:
ogranigrow_broken.png
@sean-esopenko hmm ok thanks, sometimes the LD site does that on Chromium based browsers too - anything in the console?
Building a 3d game for the jam is really ambitious and the progress you made in the short time period was impressive. Implementing different tools was a great achievement. I wish there was some UI so that I could switch between tools instead of having to pick them up from where they were thrown because I didn't realize at first it was throwing my tools when picking them up. It makes it a little hard to reach the end of the game on the first play through, I was a little confused. Once I figured that out, I started to cultivate some seeds.
Art style is great. Great job for a jam game, lots built in only 72 hours!
Bug found:
When playing in full screen on itch.io it appears that my camera movement is attached to the mouse, and when the invisible mouse cursor hits the edge of the screen I can't look further in that direction. It resulted in me only being able to look around in a 90 degree area and could only move towards one end of the map. I didn't get this problem when using Firefox on Mac OS using the mac's touch pad. Only when using a mouse on firefox on windows 11.
Lovely graphics, it's nice little sandbox, took a while to figure things out but it's a pretty clever game. Though I did lose a tool and hand to spend a lot of time finding it. Only thing I can possibly critique is the camera goes all over the place sometimes. Overall great game.
@sean-esopenko Thanks for playing! Yeah the physical tools have been more divisive that I had imagined  Will know for next time haha
I have been building 3D games and modelling for around 1 year now, so my style has been evolving and I am getting fairly quick at making things.
Bug interesting - will have to look at my game in Firefox as I have only really been using chromium browsers and not encountered that issue. I know that the cursor can become unlocked sometimes and you have to left click, but again not experienced that yet so will go check it out - thanks for reporting and again thanks for playing!
Wow, very cute and very impressive! I honestly wish there wasn't a time limit, I would've kept playing for much longer if there wasn't. The different tool mechanics make for a fun gameplay loop,
Excellent low poly art, everything looked well designed and put together. All that was missing was some ambient sound or background music.
This could easily be built into something bigger post-jam that I think a lot of people would enjoy playing. Stellar job!
I had a lot of fun. The physics based player character kept my eyes entertained while playing since there wasn't much going on other than the occasional car seen on the distance. I love the low poly art style and the depth of field made it all come together nicely.
Thanks for sharing, I had quite some fun with it :)
@flaterectomy Such kind words wow! there is some ambient sounds but I turned them down so low and forgot to turn them up again! oh well.
@daitli Thanks for playing - yea I forgot to add some vertex displacement to the trees, bushes and grass! Glad you enjoyed!
You know it's a great little game when the first couple comments on the post are people being angry/toxic about earning the high score 😂
Excellent, charming art style and fun gameplay. Nicely done!
Great concept and implementation. Quite impressive what you've done within that short amount of time!
@breadstick hah yeh - though that is my buddy who skipped this jam  Thank you for playing and your lovely comments
@stevencolling Hah thanks, as my style is evolving I can get alot done in a small space of time! thanks for playing
Nice job, it looks gorgeous and really polished, especially for a solo dev work!
Cool idea! I like the mixture mechanics for each tool and the need to explore and find seeds before you can plant crops. I don't think I've seen many farming games with platforming mechanics, so this definitely feels fresh and like it has potential for more features later! Great work on everything you implemented here :)
I forgot about the objectives and just had fun pushing the crops into the chute XD
Wow! This is great for a solo jam project! Only think I would've like to see was more audio, and running score during game. Sometimes the tool were hard to pickup in corners as well.
This was very relaxing- Manual labor never felt so good....from the comfort of my chair! Beautiful game! xD
image (4).png
An easy and pleasant experience. Visuals are good on the eyes and generally well put-together. Farming for points is satisfying, though playing around the sometimes disagreeable physics of the fruits is a little tiresome at times. Very relaxing though over-all.
Great true harvest game with nice additional mechanics.
looks great, plays well, my only gripe is having to find all the tools. I feel it could feel a lot more fast paced if you could switch weapons with a keypress rather than having to find them hidden throughout the map (or even just have them at the spawn point).
Very cute graphics! I loved the little robot moving around! the gameplay feels good enough and is a nice "feel good" game! Well done!
Super fun game, very chill and the controls are sooo smooth, it's a treat to play. I love the level design as well, with the hidden stuff that you can pick up left and right. Overall a very nice entry, well done !
Very relaxing and gorgeous, amazing game!
Really impressive solo effort - in particular the fully realised 3D world, which looks fantastic. Interesting level design. Well done!
Wow I'm impressed on how many things you managed to add to the game solo and in such a short period of time and also make it fun to play. For me at least art takes a lot of time and you nailed it. I liked the sound effects, the assets, the particle systems, the level design, the ui. Such a polished game.
I'm running out of compliments and I want to save some for other devs . Wonderful job.
Oh, almost forgot, I found a small bug. When the time ran out, the time went to -2.59 or some negative number.
This is a very nice and cozy game! We love the style of it. It was a little problem to climb somewhere. Thank you for that good 3d project, you did a great work!
Nice solo game, you did a lot in the little timespan you had. Great job.
Few things from design perspective though: 1. I wouldn't put the seed planter on the platform; (First time playing I spent most of the time looking around for it) 2. It seems that to reach most places you need to actually use double jump. Usually double jump feels good and powerful, but only if you spend some time without. If most platforms require double jump to reach them, maybe it's better to just make the normal jump more powerful. And keep the double jump height/distance for the places that you want to be to really harder to reach. 3. Not sure if this intended, but you use hoe to till earth on brown and green tile patches. This seems a bit weird, as the best play is then just to grow everything new the collection point. Even if you allow growing seeds everywhere, it would make sense to grow them slower on green grass patches (all other weeds compete for resources). 4. I think it would be cool interesting to see some limitations on the seed/ground combinations. For example Lung plants could be only planter/harvested up high on the platforms with different soil type, (there is more clean oxygen up there). Or Heart plants only in far-side corner of the map, as there is more water there. 5. Every time I picked seed planter or pull/push tool I wanted to use scroll wheel to change the value. Also title 2023-01-12 15_16_41-Organigrow.png could different somehow (font/boldness) as this seems like another option I can select.
But overall, great entry. Nice, that you added scoring, helps to see how well players are doing in the game.
@bloodycoin These are all great insights and fantastic ideas! Thank you for playing and giving such great feedback - I am toying about making this again (as I personally find the game quite fun to play/as do my kids) so I will look at incorporating your feedback into the new version.
Thanks!
Hi there! This game has a very interesting concept. I like the graphics, and the gameplay in general. It took me a little while at first to understand how everything works in general, but then it was fine. I really liked the double jump. Congratulations!
Really cool entry, i love the graphics, and the idea, i feel like though it would be better if we had all the tools with ourselfs right away, or atleast that they would spawn in one place, also the defibrillator feel quite useless, like yeah there are dead plants, but tbh i have enough seeds and not enough time, i just ignored them and harvested the others, if i wouldn't need to travel half of the map for it, i would probably end up using it more
Very nice low poly look! Well done!
i liked it, pretty polished, art was good. wish i couldve held all three tools at once, felt a little annoying to have to pick them individually. also was unsure what harvesting actually meant
Nice farming simulator! However, I don't see the point to hide all the tools on the level and it looks confusing at the start
@smeljey yes I agree - I wanted to encourage exploration and for players to get the highest score they would need to remember where things were, plot a route and execute a good farming strategy.
But only being able to hold one tool at a time and having to go find them is frustrating for most players (something I am going to update) Thanks for playing!
Well polished straight up interpretation of the theme! Congrats!
Just created a new update (only to the itch.io version) - [read about it here](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/52/organigrow/organigrow-update) and [play it here](https://dysfuncgames.itch.io/organigrow)
This is definitely the best looking game I've played so far, it's really impressive
The game is really beautiful and the gameplay funny, like some comments, for me it would be better if we had the tool at the beginning :) but that's only a detail.
Congratulations !
Nice game! The graphics Great, concept is fun too! But I'm little bit struggled bout time limit! Still, I had some fun with this game on streaming! Thanks for made this game. Cheers!
Oh, so nice visuals. I can imagine how you tweaked everything to make game look so juicy and nice. Even though i understood what i need to do after a couple of minutes, i simply enjoyed running around
(maybe give tools by deafult would make game a bit less frustring though :D)
Super fun and well polished game! I love the name of the crops and the physics, (especially the way the player moves and stumbles over obstacles)
Not sure if you're planning to continue development of this game, but I did find a way the player can jump out of bounds. If they jump on top of one of the brain seeds containers in the corner they can jump up onto the surrounding cliffs. Running around the top I couldn't find a way to fully escape because of invisible barriers but there are also some blocks with no collision I could walk through. Not really a game breaking bug or anything, I just thought it might be helpful to point out. BOunds.png
@zach-hsu hah nice find - thought I got them all, will patch that soon - no massive advantages as there is a kill box that will restart the level if you do get out, but not a great experience either - thanks for the report!
Sick graphics for a solo entry! Really pleased with how "complete" of a game this feels, I spent pretty long trying to figure out what to do as I was just jumping around gathering seeds but after a while figured out I had to find tools to farm. Love the aesthetics, it gave me a little bit of that slime rancher feel for some reason. Solid entry good job!
Really great work on this! It's a really unique mechanic to make the player hunt down the tools they'd usually start with. It works really well. The graphics look really cool too.
Thanks for submitting your game on the stream! Here’s the start of your game if you wanted to re-watch initial thoughts youtu.be/OTjgGbVpf7g?t=10454
Great work, especially for a solo entry! Congrats!
This was a pretty fun game to play! I thought the movement was very clean and I enjoyed finding the hard to reach seeds. My first play through I managed to miss finding the hoe for the first three minutes, so I was rushing to farm as much as possible in the last minute!
Very cool
This game is a fantastic fit for the theme that it represents, and the graphics are truly impressive. The mood and atmosphere of the game are spot on and really add to the overall experience. I had a lot of fun playing it and can tell that a significant amount of time and effort went into its development. The innovations in the game are evident and make it stand out among other games. I think this game is really well done and I'm confident that the next game you create will be just as good, if not even better. You should be proud of the work that you have done and I look forward to seeing what you come up with next. Keep up the good work!
@hadik wow what a nice comment thank you so much!
Bravo great work, especially for a solo effort.
For a jam effort maybe you could have just had a wider rake for pushing/pulling the harvested crops as it would have simplified things (and allowed players to harvest and till more land) for you and allowed you to spend more time on sound fx.
Having the number keys and icon/UI elements could make tool selection easier.
No real threats or enemies to take on maybe like my 3D entry you could add some enemies, and have fun doing that with monsters from the black lagoon wanting lungs, zombies wanting brains and witches/necromancers wanting hearts.
@arowx Thanks! yea that would have been a bit simpler  yea some UI HUD for your tools would be a nice QoL enhancement too.
I wanted the game to be about efficiency, can I plan a decent route, plan a good farm and execute it in 5 minutes - can I do better next run?
Hazards is an interesting idea though!
Really nice visuals for a jam game with everything being great to look at while playing. Took me a while to find certain tools on the map which hindered my score a lot but the overall concept is great and had a nice loop once I had everything required to farm. The one thing if you push some more updates post jam that I feel could make it better is instead of having a how to section with a bunch of info, spread that into the gameplay to teach it to the player over time (as once you enter the game you tend to forget most of it since its a giant info bomb)
@ategon yea totally agree - wanted to get a tutorial level into the game for Jam but ran out of time - definitely will add that if I continue with it.
Thanks for playing and the feedback
➕amazing graphics
➕100% theme usage
➕interesting combination of farm and 3d platformer
âž–it is difficult to make a full farm loop
âž–i'm not a fan of "no-win-just-score" games
Great graphics found it difficult to find all tools and figure out all the farming mechanics. Great work overall and you should be proud!
That is pretty impressive! Graphics look spot on all around and the style is consistent. Didn't encounter any issues during play so far. It also feels like it's a complete little game with nothing missing and I couldn't spot anything that seemed out of place. Btw, managed to get on top of the "building" and stuck behind the score board by jumping from top of one of those blocks pillar things.
Awesome work! Definitely something that I will be using for inspiration how my future LD games should feel like.
Pretty cool game! The gameplay is fun and the graphics are beautiful, I liked the use of physics in the game. Good work!
Looks like a pretty little game, but I had issues with the controls for moving not wanting to work  . Still, it's obvious you've put some effort into this, and I think it's a good foundation for an entertaining game. Good work.
@digital-bacon What kind of issues did you have? Maybe something I can fix for you?
@phillip-scott: when I used the movement keys (WASD or the arrows), the robot would judder in the right direction a very little, then stop moving and return to its initial position.
@digital-bacon hmm ok, will try to look out for that!
Really enjoyed playing around with push/pull physics on this one. Movement was smooth and nice for me, so the overall experience was decent.
Wow, the graphics and setting is really cool! Hard to believe it was done in 72 hours so that is amazing in and of itself. I, on the other hand, could not figure out how to harvest the items LMAO.. not sure if its just me or what. I tried using the blower but didn't really understand how to harvest the "fruits". Maybe a little tutorial thing would be good for us who have a bit of a hard time picking up on cues :) Nice, though!
@artofluba Thanks for playing - there is a "How To" in the main menu but its not super obvious, you need to push or pull the organs into the delivery hole at the factory - pulling feels better for me, In in game tutorial would have been better I agree!
Wow! Impressive game. As the physics is involved, it makes even the simple things like jumping really fun and responsive.
This is really cute! And super polished, well done for being solo! I love the little character and the whole game just feels really adorable, well done!
