LD52 — Harvest

Froot Processor by Joel Davis 2023-01-11T09:24:27Z

Very interesting concept! I like how it starts simple and you can improve a lot on your paths, and then fuck up... xD I wish there was ways of removing things, moving them around, rotate them... That would be even more strategic! Congrats on the jam :)

Boba by danman9914 2023-01-10T16:35:21Z

As well, I started with a sigh "oh, just another idle game". But then something compelled me to continue, maybe it was the clever tradeoff between resources that forced to actually engage with the things in order to progress...? But once I reached the end of the first stage and a new chapter opened, I was really wondering when it would end... And then again multiple times...! Congratulations for that one, it is a truly interesting idea, unexpected, and fun! I really enjoyed the mix of idle and the subversion of tropes, the cleverness of the multi-tab multi-window gameplay...! Good job! Enjoyed it a lot.

And I particularly liked the little portrait of the successive rulers, that age and change physically then get replaced... Nice touch!

It ended for me on a screen with the galaxy and the purple orbs underneath, not completely completed, with nothing else to click or do... A bug maybe? although I waited a long time to see if anything would happen, sadly I didn't see the end screen :( But nonetheless, I immensely enjoyed this one!

Boat by pndaa 2023-01-11T12:07:06Z

Although this is a cute little toy, I'm not quite sure it fits the idea of a game per say? There's no real puzzles to solve, no actual challenge to overcome, no tradeoff between resources or tactics to make us feel clever... We're just following instructions to the next yellow circle most of the time. I liked the chill experience, and the day/night cycle is pretty to look at, I would have wished for a bit more polish on the boat itself! Good effort, congrats for finishing it :)

Harvest Survivor by hadesfury 2023-01-11T16:39:18Z

It's a fun entry, but I wished I would have seen something like a twist to differentiate it from the basic vampires survivor genre.

mad veggies by yopox 2023-01-10T13:57:07Z

I wished the puzzles and complexity went a bit further as it was really easy to finish, but it's a nice concept! And the fact that there is a level editor is a nice touch :)

Death In Time by Yorsh 2023-01-10T16:13:56Z

I like the little diorama round worlds, that's a neat presentation :) Otherwise, I found the game a bit repetitive, I wished for more challenge, maybe some clever tactics to use or things that can change the outcome of a level...? Congrats for the jam!

Red Owl LD 52 by Rocktavious 2023-01-10T16:10:44Z

I couldn't make the game start unfortunately, even though I tried multiple browsers. I'm on Win10 as well.

Agent 001 by Maytch 2023-01-10T11:33:53Z

That is a really neat prototype! I really like the electronic/impulse board mechanic, and expanded this could get reaaaally interesting and fun! I had a lot of fun, and wished there was more of it, which shows there's something there :) Good work!

Shroomer Caves by Martynas 2023-01-11T10:30:38Z

Cute recreation of other games with a harvesting twist, I liked it although it lacked a bit of innovation or something new to that genre... Nice overall, very polished! Congrats on the result :)

Hooked (Online) by Becher 2023-01-10T14:47:15Z

Not so much of a game unfortunately since you couldn't finish, but cute! I hope you didn't spend all your time trying to make multiplayer work instead of fleshing out the gameplay? πŸ˜…

FloraShift by togo sepultraut 2023-01-11T10:44:47Z

Simple but effective, polished and cute art style. I liked it. Congrats on the jam :)

Asteroid Rush by Aarimous 2023-01-10T16:44:48Z

I liked the mechanics, it's not often you see that kind of things. I just wished there would be a bit more of a challenge, for example gravity slowly attracting asteroids towards the center to add a bit of a "stress factor" and push the player to be a bit more daring?

All in all a fun entry! Congratulations :)

They Hide in the Fields by Hawkin 2023-01-10T14:43:08Z

This is the kind of things I really hate in games: horror! πŸ˜…πŸ˜† But you did it well, the ambiance is oppressing and you can't see anything in front of you... Fun! Congratulations :)

Night of the Zombie Chickens by Jonqs 2023-01-10T11:47:00Z

Very limited, but still fun prototype :) I wish there'd be more meat to it, and there definitely was some lag when launching, but otherwise interesting and fun!

The organ trees by elFlashor 2023-01-10T11:21:43Z

@profan Thank you for the comment, and thanks for playing! I probably made the harvesting mechanic way too complex for the little amount of tutorial I was able to put in, unfortunately :( It is supposed to be a journey of experimenting, failing, unlocking new tools, and trying again, but I didn't have enough time to make the UI and mechanic clear enough πŸ˜… But thanks for playing, and I hope you still had a little bit of fun with it! :)

The organ trees by elFlashor 2023-01-10T13:47:13Z

@fallcresthero Thank you for your feedback! Initially I wanted the fertilizing/harvesting loop to be bigger than the fighting part, but I wasn't able to course-correct with so little time remaining. The upgrade system was meant to have various weapons, and fleshing that out would have allowed to flesh out the enemies behavior and fighting clarity. But as you said, right now it's a bit muddy, I agree. Thanks for playing!

The organ trees by elFlashor 2023-01-10T14:30:17Z

@kr4ft3r Yes, you exactly pointed at the biggest issue, indeed πŸ˜… If I had more time to put into it I'd try to simplify that whole loop, as it stands right now maybe I can just pause the game while in harvesting, but the whole starting idea was to be frantic and force the player to be quick and make mistakes because of stress... Maybe adding so ways for the player to fight that would help...

But thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback!

The organ trees by elFlashor 2023-01-10T16:38:38Z

@eggshelldog Thank you for your "common LD comment" 😁 I truly agree, more juice and little details like that would have been really nice to sustain the player's interest in face of a complicated and hard to understand prototype... Ah well, maybe next time if I find a couple of people to team with! πŸ˜…

Thanks for playing and thanks for the kind words!

The organ trees by elFlashor 2023-01-11T08:01:40Z

@taikinaaa @back2zero @ra-sio Thanks for your kind words, and thank you for playing !

@xandruher Being stressful was the intended idea behind the operations part, so in a way I'm glad it worked :D But yeah, you're probably right that it could be nice to have a bit of a breather from time to time for that... Thanks for playing!

The organ trees by elFlashor 2023-01-11T13:14:52Z

@indivisibleparticles Thanks for your feedback and for playing! The lack of explanations is definitely the first and foremost point of feedback I got, and I completely agree. And for the graphics, indeed it is very barebones, but didn't have any more time πŸ˜… We'll see if I can work on it more! Thanks :)

The organ trees by elFlashor 2023-01-11T19:41:31Z

@hmrpf @javasaurus Thank you for your comments and for playing! A youtube video would be nice, but a new version with something understandable right away would be even better

The organ trees by elFlashor 2023-01-12T10:53:55Z

@offdutyextractors @pndaa Thanks for playing and for the feedback! Indeed the collisions could need some improvement, you're right. Actually you're not really "harvesting" organs, you're more prepping them up for sprouting into a tree, which, once you harvest, gives you various amount of money depending on which organs you validated. Yeah, a bit convoluted, I had big plans in communicating that nicely but couldn't fit it before the deadline πŸ˜…

Thanks again!

The organ trees by elFlashor 2023-01-14T09:32:51Z

@deadjolly Thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback!

@hawkin Thanks for the detailed feedback! Indeed the lack of clarity on what exactly you're supposed to do during the harvesting makes it hard to project yourself into the state of mind of "I jus need to wait to have enough money to buy the proper tools". I should probably have unlocked a basic "harvesting" tool right off the bat, or almost, like after the first round. But thanks for sticking around! Obviously more polishing would have been nice, but well πŸ˜… I'll probably do a v2 just to be able to adress this, and speed up the loop, indeed! Thanks for playing!

Organigrow by Phillip Scott 2023-01-10T15:21:28Z

A totally different organ havesting mood approach to the game I made, but really nice! I like the fiddliness of it with the physics, makes it unreliably fun! Congrats :)

Seed of hate by OldDog 2023-01-11T10:40:38Z

This is indeed a neat concept, I liked it, although I'm not quite sure where the theme really gets in there... It didn't help that I couldn't get past the first fight, as I had multiple bugs when dragging cards around that just broke the game every time... Too bad :(

But I really liked it, I could see some potential in expanding this! :)

4 Souls 2 Reap by Kepsert 2023-01-11T13:54:47Z

I was surprisingly invested in that game and was force to leave to stop, so pretty good! The music was geting a bit repetitive after a while, but that's nothing unsolvable with just a bit more time :)

I felt like the mechanics would probably fit better in a metroidvania than a simple level-by-level platformer, but for a gamejam it might be trickier to pull off. But good job, remappable controls would have been amazing, and I couldn't try with a gamepad but it would fit perfectly, so I hope you've added support for it! :) Congrats on the jam :)

The day before the harvest by froissant 2023-01-10T16:41:33Z

I liked the chillness of all and the cute little observations here and there! Unfortunately not enough to keep me engaged and sustained through it all, as there is no other challenge than moving around to find things... But cute nonetheless! Relaxing :)

Plantome by Danyclockworker 2023-01-10T14:49:08Z

Very cute little game, I like the simplicity and pixel art. Especially love the blinking christmas lights 😁 A bit difficult to understand what to do and what does what/what has an effect (what about the little stars during night for example...?), but is has a very nice vibe!

Arnold the Reaper by D3kryption 2023-01-11T11:40:13Z

Cute ambiance and setting, love the pirates, what can I say :D On the gameplay side, I like the ideas of the "mediums" that chase you, but I felt like the combat would need a lot of polishing to be really engaging.

Congrats on the jam though! :)

Carrot Jack by RobLaro 2023-01-11T09:13:18Z

Cute graphics, but I missed some sort of challenge or tradeoff with my choices, something that would force me to take a decision on how to use something and sacrificing something else instead for example. Some sort of way to increase the complexity space :)

Plot Luck by Ani 2023-01-10T16:09:58Z

Interesting idea, I wish there was a bit more options to influence the result and be able to gamble more things for example, or anything to give a bit more control and feel like you're actually impacting things... But it's fun, I like it :)

Harvest Mole by Yumepix 2023-01-10T14:53:31Z

I wish there was a bit more feedback, not only on the things you whack, but also where you're going to whack, for example with a shadow of the hammer? It would allow to be more confident about your hits and move the risk from "being uncertain of where I click" (= bad feedback, game's fault) to "woops I went to fast and clicked wrong" (= taking more risks, player's fault). The feeling would be much more interesting when it's your fault, instead of being perceived as "the game's fault". Nice try, congratulations!

Hi!Waste Tomato by Asahi 2023-01-10T14:25:32Z

Cool style, lots of attention put on the visuals. Sounds could have been improved a bit by lowering down the statics noise. Menus were a bit obtuse to navigate, but interesting twist on the gameplay!

Betty Raba - Don't Be Harvested by mcechinatto 2023-01-10T13:44:53Z

It's a cute little game. I just wish there was a way to turn down the squeaky walking noise, it gets very unnerving ^^ I personally would have increase the controls responsiveness. Making the character faster with a steeper acceleration for example. It would make it more responsive to start moving, but you could still keep the sliding when slowing down at the end if you want somewhat of a challenge. Having more responsive controls would also have allowed you to ant up the ante and challenge by making faster hazard, all in all increasing the game difficulty and intensity (and thus exhilaration). Good try!

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Barn by Lila Pause 2023-01-10T15:26:03Z

Interesting idea, although the ramp-up curve could have been tuned to make the difficulty scaling a bit more forgiving to the beginning of the game, especially since the "gameboard" is less constricted and less clear than normal tower defense game! Congrats :)

Veggie Survivor by Hyster 2023-01-11T12:10:42Z

I'm a bit sad that it was just a game very similar to vampires survivor and others of that new genre, but good try! I wish the hitboxes would have been a bit more clear to see when you'd get hit or not.

Alien Fruit Harvest by kossnocorp 2023-01-10T16:16:00Z

A bit simplistic, but at least it's finished, as you said! Good effort, I liked how the jump was unreliable, creates a lot of good frustration! Congratulations on the jam :)

CrapCirclz by Francois Dervaux 2023-01-10T12:06:57Z

I personally not quite sure it fits the theme, but I really like that idea! It's a neat twist to turn the crop circles into an exam for aliens, good job!

Brutal Harvest by Harlow 2023-01-11T12:04:17Z

I like this one a lot :) Amazing job overall, it has interesting gameplay, it has levels and variety with the crows attacks, and an end. And nice graphics and fitting music. I could have enjoyed a harder difficulty curve, maybe some curveballs here and there, but otherwise it's a solid gamejam game! Congrats :)

Harfaster by Skaaaza 2023-01-10T16:40:31Z

Unfortunately I get the same error probably: "Shader Hidden/Universal Render Pipeline/Stop NaN shader is not supported on this GPU (none of subshaders/fallbacks are suitable)" and a few other lines...

Techno Plants by morpheyz 2023-01-11T15:50:18Z

I really liked it, and I'm a fan of these kind of games! But there seem to be some latency or calibration issue between graphics and music, as I kept getting the "Early" or "Missed" feedback... (and I'm a very big player of Crypt of the Necrodancer, and that's usually not a problem at all!...) But otherwise, really nice! The theme link is a bit tenuous, but that vibe, really good!

Heartvest by jaonewguy 2023-01-11T09:14:05Z

Chaotic and messy! Interesting but quite repetitive until it gets overwhelming... Congrats :)

Enough is a feast! by Devin Bulut 2023-01-11T11:54:44Z

Cute little game. I don't know if I liked or disliked that you can "game" the system by going back and forth between tiles that need multiple watering, it feels like the puzzle design could get a bit more attention to make sure that you have to plan and perfectly execute, instead of just bouncing back and forth. Congrats nonetheless! :)

Human Harvest by Gregormack 2023-01-10T14:16:54Z

I guess reading the instructions would have been good to know you had to fly up to save your harvest... ^^ A quick message once you start getting full would have helped a bit to solve that for the lazy players that don't read instructions, like me xD But nice otherwise! A big grindy, some variety in levels would be great. Nice pixel art style, cute little game! Congratulations :)

GMO Survivors by Jeno 2023-01-10T12:09:17Z

The executable doesn't want to launch and I get a missing UnityPlayer.dll error message... Did you forget to package files? Maybe a zip with everything in would be better? Can't wait to test it out though, looks cool!

LD53 — Delivery

Cargo Cove by superjai 2023-05-07T18:26:30Z

Really nice game, easy to understand and self-teaching, compulsive loop... I liked it! I wished the theme would have been a bit more obvious (I guess you're delivering the cargo, but that feels a bit far-fetched to me). The graphics are a treat though, great style!

Deliveries & Dragons by PhilStrahl 2023-05-02T07:23:37Z

Cute little toy :) I wish I would have more controls over what is happening and have to make decisions beyond what upgrade to buy, which becomes a bit irrelevant after a little while. But it's a nice effort!

Neo City Express by Pedro Medeiros 2023-05-02T07:05:56Z

That is such a great idea! Love the humour, love the jankiness of all... Great job :)

Garçon! by MercilessCult 2023-05-02T08:18:10Z

I like the idea and the theme! Unfortunately the amount of back and forth as well as the mix of graphic styles (very pixel art + clear text visible through obstacles) made it a bit too distracting for me. But still a cool idea, and once again, fun theme! :)

Parcels, Please by Neon Glass 2023-05-07T18:03:50Z

Nice game, reminiscent of Papers please obviously ^^ A bit more instant feedback when doing something good or bad (other than just the score) would make it much easier to learn from your mistakes! :)

Cart Delivery by zimny11 2023-05-07T18:36:46Z

That is a really unique mechanic, and I enjoyed immensely! Simple idea, doesn't need much more than that! Reminds me of QWOP and other games like that because of it's intended "wonkiness". Congrats!

ON TIME by VirtualMan52 2023-05-07T18:34:05Z

Nice little puzzle, feels like a complete game that wasn't rushed :) I especially like the humor!

Parcels, Please by Mat Stevenson 2023-05-14T16:19:21Z

I liked this one! Start chill but quickly becomes complex where you have to plan your routes to not get bankrupt...! Pretty good, congrats!

SlopDrop by elFlashor 2023-05-02T16:04:24Z

Thank you all for playing the game and leaving some feedback! :)

SlopDrop by elFlashor 2023-05-04T07:33:03Z

Thanks everybody for playing the game! :) I had very little time to balance and polish, I agree that the loop could be faster!

@nougato the weight "class" is actually displayed in the bottom left corner, it helps to give an idea of what to expect from the current package :)

SlopDrop by elFlashor 2023-05-07T18:12:58Z

@cobrajs I agree that the filling is a bit slow, I should make it faster definitely : Thanks for the feedback, and thanks for playing!

SlopDrop by elFlashor 2023-05-09T15:21:41Z

@ominusgalaxy44 Haha yeah I saw that after submitting, I guess a typo in my code! ^^ Thanks for playing!

@fuzzybut Thank you for playing and for your kind words! Indeed I thought the box weight class was obvious, but apparently not enough! xD

SlopDrop by elFlashor 2023-05-11T19:02:34Z

@mawrak Oh that's some good catches! Thanks for the bug report, I'll have a look ^^ Yeah no unfortunately I didn't have time to do any sound since I only had 24h available to work on it :/ But thanks for playing and for the feedback, glad you enjoyed it!

SlopDrop by elFlashor 2023-05-14T09:03:21Z

@jnaver Thanks playing and for your kind words!

News Flash! by Shaggy 2023-05-07T17:55:57Z

As other have said before, it's a cute little prototype but it lacks some goal apart from just "be as fast as possible". A failure condition for example would increase the stakes, some optional goals or scoring (other than just time) would create player choice and tension!

Inconvenient Conveyance by LucDeligne 2023-05-04T08:27:15Z

Fun game, I like the chaotic nature of it! I'd have hoped for some music and sfx when drifting, would have made it even juicier, but I really liked it, good job!

Paper Man by CardboardMoon 2023-05-02T07:59:52Z

Fun little game! I wished there would be more content of it, upgrades, more hazards, getting more difficult with next levels... But that's a nice idea :)
