Do you think you can include a HTML5 version or a OSX version? I would like to check it out. Itch is a good source to host a HTML5 version.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD52 → Harvest Mole

Allright whack-a-mole implemenation with things to avoid. hit-box vs the hammer felt a bit off, or too tight. I ran into a bug where moles stopped spawning. Some more juice-effects would have been nice, but good effort!
@rjerez192 I actually tried but it didn't work with the godot 4 beta. I'll check today after work if I can find why :)
@havchr you're totally right ! The final result isn't what I had in mind but with only 10h of work I had to take a lot of shortcuts 🥲 Thanks a lot for trying and for your feedback! I think I'll update the game in the future to match my original idea
Good job! The graphics are lovely and go well with the sound effects. It's a bit unclear to me where the hammer lands and what gets hit. Maybe I ran into a bug? But the score wasn't responding to the hammering as I expected it to. Amazing 48h contribution :muscle:
Nice! Amazing visuals and very well implemented. Not easy to target the moles, the hit box is visually accurate but not accurate for the player, this should be more intuitive.
Fun, good graphics, but a feeling of loss when finished. Maybe because of the sound ? Good work !
Nice little game in which one can give free rein to his cruelty towards moles. GG !
@kr0k Thanks for trying ! You're right maybe I can add a shadow under the hammer to really see where it goes in the future
@rockford thanks for you're feedback ! :) I've actually changed the hitbox just before realease, but for the worst I think :(
@raphytator thank you ! You're actually right I didn't thought about that !!
@globul Haha ! thanks for playing ! :)
Great graphics, good idea for the theme. Some areas for improvement: it was hard to judge where the mallet collides with the ground exactly (a shadow on the ground would help a lot), and when a mole gets hit the feedback should be more clear and immediate. Other than that a pretty solid entry.
@vasco-freitas thanks for your feedback I really appreciate ! :)
Glad to have a good time thanks to you
Had a fun time with this, simple and quick!
I wish there was a bit more feedback, not only on the things you whack, but also where you're going to whack, for example with a shadow of the hammer? It would allow to be more confident about your hits and move the risk from "being uncertain of where I click" (= bad feedback, game's fault) to "woops I went to fast and clicked wrong" (= taking more risks, player's fault). The feeling would be much more interesting when it's your fault, instead of being perceived as "the game's fault". Nice try, congratulations!
@arthur-mairs thanks ! :)
@elflashor thanks for your feedback :) yeah I totally agree with you, I will take all the advices to make a better version at the end of LD52 !
Interesting game, the famous mole game ! Here are my feedbacks :
* The time line should be in seconds, not percentage. Also maybe smoother that 5% per 5%. * The graphics and drawings are great, nothing to say. It is even the best point! * You need to have a user feedback when you hit something. Here it takes 1 sec for the mole to turn red, but it's too long IMO. It could flash or move right away. * Idea : Farmers or carots could pop just as mole do, and the game could be to react quickly but not to everythings that pops. * Your rules on the left : you could use icons instead of text. * There is something strange with the hammer : it does not seems to hit where I intend to. It is just a feeling, I can't explain why. Maybe can you add dust on the hit, so we can clearly see where it hits. I'm resaying what I was saying on feedbacks. User feedbacks are important. * On my 4th game, no mole poped at all, maybe a bug here.
But anyway, it is a cool game !
Game isn't working on my computer somehow. When I open the .exe, It shows a white screen and it closes on his own after a few seconds. I'm on Windows 10.
@sdelay thanks for that awesome feedback I really appreciate, this will help me a lot to improve myself :)
@gcake oh I'm sorry to hear that, I tried on another pc and I have the white screen for I think 10 seconds then it's launching correctly. I assume it's because Godot 4 is still in beta so the export isn't optimised :( thanks for your feedback !
I didn't know if I was hitting right or not, the sound doesnt help me to understand if I was winning or losing Also why do we have farmers head lol
@minakorii the farmers were suppose to gather the vegetables but I didn't had time to implement the system so instead they just remove 2pts when you hit them Thanks for trying :)
Sweet game with lovely graphics and sfx! Had a lot of fun trying to beat my best score; turns out you can whack a mole several times for more points until it disappears, so as long as you click fast enough. I got 95!
I love that you replaced the traditional cursor with a hammer - it made the experience even more playful. As some of the others mentioned, perhaps a marker showing where the hammer lands would help on accuracy. Could also be interesting seeing the farmers and moles hide again after a short time :)
Anyways, excellent job!
I got 59 points! At first I thought I was doing something wrong because the mole took more than one whack.
The art for this game is fantastic! The sfx were also well suited.
I had a lot of trouble telling where exactly the hammer was going to hit. I very often hit the carrot when trying to whack the mole. More visual feedback on where exactly the hammer is aimed.
Like others have pointed out the time being a percent and ticking down in large chunks isn't ideal.
There's a lot of visual polish that could help to improve the game. As I said above feedback on where the hammer is, like a shadow, would be tremendously helpful. More feedback on what's being hit would be super helpful as well, whether that's flashing the hit target, adding in a hit reaction animation, or having some kind of "explosion" type particle would help tremendously.
Great work for your first time doing a game jam! This shows a lot of potential.
This is overall a pretty fun little game. Maybe a bit difficult to survive for very long, and it is a bit difficult to see when you hit the moles. But anyway is this a pretty good jam game. Well done.
@fnkee @googlypoo Oh my ! I didn't see that one thanks !! After the jam I will upgrade the game to have the gameplay I really wanted at the beginning :)
@jason-wilson thanks for the feedback ! I took to much time on the art but I'm really glad that you liked it, that means a lot to me. It's my first LDjam but it's actually my third jam (or second, there is one I didn't push very far). Thanks again for your kind words :)
@jk5000 thank you for trying ! Yeah I really need to fix this hammer and the hitboxes :_)
Nice simple game, very good one as the first gamejam submission. Keeping it simple, but actually finishing is already an achievement. I think you went in a good direction, just spending more time on polishing in the end would be nice - like adding some kind of aim and feedback from hitting or missing. Well done)!
Good job on finishing a game!
For me it would have been nice to resize the window, it was quite small on my 4k screen.
Thanks for providing a Linux version. The game is as expected, its whack-a-mole. But it was a bit nervewracking since the moles were divided by carrots that would cause you to lose points if you wacked them. Though this could be used as like one of those mouse/aiming/accuracy practice things I think. Good work!
