I don't think I got much control over the results of the search of the matter, during the slots and during the bonus round, maybe I missed something?
Nevertheless, being able to finish a game and deliver it all by yourself is quite a feat
If you take all the previous comments into account I think you can release a post jam version that will be very solid. I like the minimalist art style, good job on delivering such quality by yourself!
Love the graphics! Wish it could run in a browser
Got some Celeste x Binding of Isaac vibes from your video
So cute! As other said, clever mechanics
I missed that I had to press S to start the travel when I first played, fortunately I read the comments and understood my mistake. Otherwise I would've left frustrated :stuck_out_tongue: If you update the game, don't hesitate to put more indications when you encounter the aliens
Nevertheless, it's a pretty cool submission and I wish you the best for your 4th game jam next year
Hahaha I loved the concept  Quite hard!
Short and fast-paced! I liked that everything is simple and understandable straight away. Great submission!
Great entry for someone working all alone! I caught the jam fever this year too and I hope we get to compete again
Thank you everyone for your comments! We really appreciate your feedback and are glad you like how submission :two_hearts:
@florianbald we polished the game during the last few hours, and audio bugs should be gone :) I've also added a bit of audio to some actions we initially missed, and put my heart into the Game Over scene :v:
@3amsoda took quite some time for @Shinyo to get it right, but basically every drawing is compared pixel by pixel to the reference texture, if it matches it's 1 point, otherwise we check if any adjacent squares were colored and give 0.5 point if it's just a pixel away -- otherwise it's 0 points for this square
@xschaumix that's a good score, the game speeds up quite fast in the end... My personal best is 3400 but I was on mobile :smirk:
@pavocado glad you noticed (and liked!) the TARDIS drawn by our artist @Tayteus :blue_heart: We tried to put as much easter eggs as possible while not compromising the delivery of the much needed assets for the game
Thank you guys :hearts:
@deav we had harder mini-games (the lights one was a "Lights Out"-style game for example, where changing one light affected the surrounding lights), but it was really difficult to balance the time it took to complete mini-games vs the time it took for the gauges to fill in the short amount of time we had to playtest, so in the end we leveled down the difficulty to keep the game fun but not frustrating.
I'll pass along all your comments on the art to @Tayteus
@aquilart once a gauge at the top is filled, you get a Game Over screen with your score -- didn't you get one?
@cerieyele glad you enjoyed the sound design  Our artist @Tayteus has an instagram account ([@autostrip_tristan](https://www.instagram.com/autostrip_tristan/)) but as you can see he usually posts comics there, producing pixel art for our game was actually the challenge he put himself up to this week-end  (I just edited a video of our twitch livestream where you can see him draw [Earth exploding](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1168042589) :v: I'll try to edit more clips in the coming days)
@substain you're right! We could implement only 2 difficulty settings so the step is a bit high... 5 games in easy mode, then the rest is hard mode
@marc-grabow I've updated the description to warn users  thanks for the feedback!
Thank you again for your feedback
@tetrapteryx I had to pester @Tayteus for hours before he drew the cat for me haha  Glad you liked the color mixing mini-game, that's my baby :stuck_out_tongue: We had a lot of discussion about it, whether we should go with substractive or additive mixing, because people might not be used to additive, but it turned out great I think.
@hotowlgirls thanks :thumbsup:
@sanemsky Yeah, the lights go off on purpose if you take too much time to light them all  the goal is to keep you on your toes at all time
@ardorugus I take note of your suggestion! At first we wanted a bit more narration in the game but were short on time, so I think we tried to cram too much on the first screen, acting as a mini tutorial... (I had the idea to put a fully fledged user manual inside the game for each machine but @Tayteus already had a lot on its plate at this point  )
Thank you everyone :two_hearts:
@pikario apologies for the sound! None of us were very experienced with sound design, but everyone's feedback here has been valuable and I'm sure in our next game we'll be better
@rjmarzec thank you :smile:
Very fun little game, going for the Compo takes balls :) Getting the timing for jumps right is not always easy, but I enjoyed your submission.
It's impressive that you built everything by yourself.
I feel like the game is a bit slow to start, the characters don't move very fast and you have to wait for the resources to be produced quite a lot. But it's entertaining nonetheless!
Well done! I love the aestethics. I also had the idea to make a temple runner game during our brainstorming session, so I'm glad to see someone had the same idea and managed to make it fun
As other said, great art direction and great ambiance, but right after getting the canon it gets a bit boring :(
Controls are a bit wonky, graphics are great!
If you have some time I'd be glad if you could test my game and leave me a rating :v:
Love the pixel art / animations, but not a fan of the UI.
Only 6 votes left! If you have some time I'd be glad if you could test my game too
I like the graphics and the sound effects bring the atmosphere together, but as said previously, I didn't understand the point of the game or the relation to the theme. I might have missed something, it could be useful to update your game page with some more information!
Here's your 20th rating
I played the game on mobile as it was advertised, controls were a bit rough but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I'll give it another go on desktop later!
Congrats on making all of this alone! The leaderboard is a nice addition ππ»
It was really fun driving the combine, but hell mode really felt like HELL  I'll try to revisit it when not live streaming to avoid people making fun of me.
Really fun game! Took quite a while to get the hang of the mechanic, but the concept is really fun!
Liked the art direction, the creepiness of the level and monsters is interesting
@ninnec here's the replay: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1716029414  (I was at work, too!)
Funny trying to stack things and get to the end. Wish it had keyboard controls.
Loved the art style, got a bit bored harvesting pollen, but the rythm game was a nice touch. Congrats!
I think it'd be great to update the game page with some more instructions, it took a few tries to correctly get the hang of it. Congrats on delivering this by yourself!
Managed to make it! FOOOOOD!
It was so simple, but it was also so stressful keeping the propaganda meter up! (especially because I didn't notice you could take multiple items at once!)
Congrats on delivering it by yourself!
Fun concept. Congrats on delivering this by youself!
I would looove to code a gameboy game just like yours!
My only complaint, as others previously said, are regarding the controls / cursor speed: it gets tiring after some time to go from the game screen to the inventory etc.
I struggled with z-fighting issues with sprites in my game also, so it was funny to see I wasn't the only one
Very challenging platformer! Integrating a timer / speedrun elements is a great idea. Controls were a bit rough, as other have said, using "N" is not the most straightforward way to use abilities, but after some time you get used to it.
Thank you everyone!
@titos2k glad you caught it π
@andy-link some are tricky, don't hesitate if you need a hint!
@orhu our apologies regarding the framerate issue you had. We did our best to optimize everything, but it's our first game on this scale and we will use the time post-jam to understand in depth your issue and try to mitigate it in our next jams.
@amkingtrp yeah exactly, previous games we developed were built using the Unity UI framework over Canvases, but for this one we used a 2D world and had lots of issues with the sorting order of the sprites, that's also the reason we have a couple of quirky colliders π
@kromeboy haha glad you liked it! Way to evoke nostalgia πΆ
@pitisek nice! did you find all 30 memories? We save them between runs, so you can complete it later! We didn't have time to make a special screen when you collect everything, but if we were to polish the game that would be one of our priorities.
@fionasprinkles thank you ππ»
@nougato when it starts raining, you can hear the cry of a creature that crawled out of hiding... try something bold with it π
@leon-oost @korvack thanks for your comments, don't hesitate if you need any hints  (there's one above, it might be the one you're missing)
@jason-wilson thanks for taking the time to play the game and your kind comments!
The mushroom effect is randomized, so sometimes it flashes from zero to a full effect, sometimes it stays on for the whole duration but the effect is less pronounced π
Regarding the theme, it was indeed a bit of a stretch. Our artist initially wanted to do pixel art + have a horror vibe to our game this jam, and we collectively spent more than 2 hours at the start of the night brainstorming ideas around horror games, but we never anything that really clicked. After talking about a game we all played and loved (A Short Hike), I suggested we scrap our current ideas and go for a game without a set goal where you spend your last day of free time before the harvest season and just enjoy yourself. So it's a bit of a stretch, but it helped us get out of a (creative) rut
@vrerabek thank you fellow cat lover π»ππ»
@bo-dangles thank you! Animal Crossing and A short hike were inspirations
@snowdrama congrats!
Fun game, great artistic direction, challenging and not boring
The intro is funny but a bit too long. As soon as the game started, my laptop fan went rogue π I like the Assassin's Creed-like gameplay, but the controls were a bit rough. Nevertheless, impressive work!
Loved the aesthetics! I don't have a controller handy, so I played with keyboard and mouse, which was manageable. Congrats!
I love card games, so it was a good surprise. Took me some time to figure out a good strategy for the vegetables but once I got the hang of it I enjoyed fighting the other farmers. It would have been great to be able to continue playing after 3 victories
Loved the art! We tried to play with a French keyboard (Azerty) with two players and it was a bit of a mess :confounded: I think it'd be great to be able to remap the keys
I didn't expect to be entertained by a root progressing through soil to a techno beat, but I liked it!
Surprised by the sprite and mechanic change when I started hoarding twigs, that's a nice touch. As other have said, the ending is a bit rough, I spent some time trying to interact with the nest to no avail. Congrats on delivering this by yourself!
Only 9 votes to go!
Here's my game if you have some time to spare :) https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/52/the-day-before-the-harvest
Congrats on delivering this by yourself! I had the idea of using the packages as projectiles too, but we went with another concept in the end
That was unexpected  I was wondering if my computer was glitchy or if it was intended, so we can say that your design was convincing.
Felt a bit lost at first.
It's took me some time to get the combat mechanics, but it's impressive what you've assembled in 72 hours! The concept is also quite novel, so good job!
So funny how our games look similar  Congrats on achieving such a polished result in 3 days!
Such a feat to deliver a fully scoped project like that under 72 hours! Congrats! (and teach me for the next one π€£)
Congrats on delivering 9 levels in such a timeframe! Mechanics are well thought, it was a bit confusing in the first version but the new update made everything much easier to grasp. Having the spawn point randomly being vertical or horizontal is a nice touch.
