LD48 — Deeper and deeper

SlappyBird by JCMonkey 2021-04-28T18:03:08Z

Love this idea of this game, but I found a lot of the time I couldn't see the enemies and I was dying to something I never saw which was slightly frustrating. I think perhaps some health system, or a warning that there's an enemy above somehow would really improve it. Overall enjoyed it though!

Manic Miner by ryannielson 2021-04-27T15:02:24Z

Really like this game, has a real sense of urgency to get down! Loved the fact that the air decreased in realtime whilst the movements are turn based. Think something that might be cool would be to have certain blocks you can't mine through

Rooted by Webox 2021-04-27T12:19:58Z

Thought this was a great game, very innovative! Only feedback I would have is that I found it a bit tricky to spot the minerals in the ground, perhaps just need slightly more contrast. Overall very good though!

Deep Mine Time by Grewoss 2021-04-27T14:42:04Z

I like this! It's a simple concept which I think has quite a lot of roof for potential if you develop it further. A future improvement could be to be able to mine just with the keyboard and directional arrows instead of the mouse (Actually spent a while trying to find the correct key to mine with!). Overall enjoyed this though!

End of my Rope by Maytch 2021-04-27T12:28:46Z

Love this concept of this, enjoyed the idea of having the bow as your main interaction with the world. Also thought the 3D effect was really neat. For some reason the audio didn't play properly for me though. The other feedback I had was the that the rope mechanics could have been a bit smoother. Overall really enjoyed it though!

Blue Eye - Salvage & Rescue by PurpledArtFrog 2021-04-27T14:54:46Z

I really like the feel of this game, really feels like you're going down deep underwater. It took me quite a few attempts to figure out what I was supposed to be doing, especially with the battery level. The first time I ran out of battery and couldn't move I actually thought it was a bug. Think once the UI is improved slightly it could be a really good game!

Ropedive by lootgrounds 2021-04-27T12:35:26Z

Thought this was really good, love a game with a simple mechanic that takes a while to master! Only feedback I have is that I found the game a bit small, probably just my eyesight though! Thought the atmosphere and music of the game was really nice too, very immersive.

The Deep Caverns by GullynGames 2021-04-27T15:47:52Z

I like this game, think it's got a lot of potential. It took me a long while to figure out I had to stand on the resource to mine it, expected shooting it to do something - just needs some sort of visual feedback I think. Overall really liked it though!

Plunge by ZwodahS 2021-04-28T17:52:40Z

This is definitely one of the more fun games I've played so far, the fact that your speed determines whether you'll break the white blocks is a really cool mechanic. The whole game is perfect for a game jam too, short, quick and easy to get into.

I agree with a few of the other comment that the bouncing takes you out of the action a bit, the sudden stop is a bit jarring and I found myself disappointed because I just want to go fast! Tried your updated version and it's definitely an improvement. It's a bit annoying when you die to a red brick off screen too, but don't know whether you should change that or not!

Other that that the only other suggestion I have is to show my previous best time once I complete the level (or furthest distance if you've never completed it) - just so I know what my record is to beat!

Overall, very enjoyable game though!

More than Deep by SoftGround 2021-04-27T21:13:25Z

Just gave this one a go and enjoyed it, got past 1000m before crashing! I think something that would make it more fun would be to gradually increase the speed as you go down to add more of a challenge.

Love Under the Robot Junkyard by frogmen 2021-04-27T16:10:30Z

Like it! Took me a while to figure out that my battery was decreasing, but once I'd got that sorted it was a really nice experience. Somehow a very pretty game even though it's just ASCII art!

Watch Out Below by Haematite 2021-04-27T21:01:05Z

@kovi Really good feedback thanks so much. And thanks for playing, I think you beat my high score!

Watch Out Below by Haematite 2021-04-27T21:01:49Z

@webox Thanks a lot for the feedback! Those two things have been suggested the most so I'm definitely going to tweak it for the post jam version to get it just right.

Watch Out Below by Haematite 2021-04-28T17:56:56Z

@jcmonkey Thanks, trying to get that correct balance of you not being able to really easily fit down the one wide holes is a bit tricky, thanks for playing though!

@zwodahs Wow, thanks for all that feedback, extremely valuable and I think very accurate! I'm definitely going to upload a post jam version of the game with these extra bits sorted. You've also beaten my high score!

@bicheste Glad you liked it! Yes, the button placement needs a bit of work, if you're unlucky it can basically mean you lose the game - something for me to work on!

@zimny11 Thanks! I planned to have it slowly increasing the speed more, but I think I got so used to my own game that I forgot how brutal it could be at the start!

Hop or Stop by winniehell 2021-10-08T18:21:08Z

I think this game has tons of potential, I love the idea of just being able to grab all the little bits and move them around. I did find the bits a bit too small though and had trouble moving and rotating them and getting them where I wanted. Something that might work quite well is a way to snap them to a grid - just to make it slightly less effort. Overall I think with a bit more polish this could be a really good game. Very impressed with what was done in the timeframe!

Shaky Structures by TomBuston 2021-10-08T18:06:24Z

Really love this game, very polish and fits the theme really well. I love puzzle games like this and I'm really impressed this has been made in a weekend. I can definitely see this as a mobile game, and a successful one too. The best game I've played on here so far

Catastrophy by Fis 2021-10-09T08:58:19Z

Such a cute little game, I really love the concept of it! I found the controls a bit hard though, perhaps some of the jumps could be a bit more forgiving and the countdown for the bigger jump could be a bit faster? Great game to just while away a few minutes though and I got surprisingly into saving the kittens. Animations and sound are great as well, think this could easily be expanded into a full game with a bit of refinement of the controls

Cyberduk by abvadabra 2021-10-08T20:44:30Z

This game has got such a great feel to it, really nails the cyberpunk feel. The platform physics is great, the instability keeping it exciting enough without getting in your way. Unbelievably polished game for 3 days work, I'm extremely impressed!

Gem of Stability by JakobTheQuizGuy 2021-10-08T18:32:26Z

I loved this game, I just had great fun playing it, which is the most important thing! The main character is adorable and his facial expressions are amazing. I think the difficulty curve is just right, just as I was thinking this is quite easier it started ramping up! Really great little game

Portal Problems! by LadyMistLeaf 2021-10-08T18:42:56Z

Nice short little puzzle game, I found the clues a bit simple but the voice acting was a really nice touch! I did find the lack of any audio slightly jarring after the voice intro but otherwise enjoyed this!

ŮNSTÅBLĒ by Dominium11 2021-10-08T19:44:47Z

A great twist on a tower stacking game, really clever. I loved the Swedish furniture company theme, and the fact that dragging stuff carelessly destroyed things was just a stroke of genius. This could definitely become a popular mobile game!

The DEATH DOOM by Alan123 2021-10-08T19:02:03Z

This is such a cute little game, I love the feel of a children's story in a game and the sound effects are just amazing. I think as a jam game this is just fantastic really, short, experimental and just enjoyable

MANIC MELTDOWN! by David Bohan 2021-10-05T19:31:59Z

The graphics and music really felt like a NES era game to me and I loved it. Great simple concept that gives you a nice manic dashing about feel to the game.

I think with a little bit of polish it could easily be expanded into something awesome. I had a couple of issues with getting stuck half jumping on the vertical moving platforms, but otherwise really enjoyed this. Great work!

In Search Of Water by Tom Stephenson 2021-10-08T17:52:10Z

Very cool game, I can definitely see the Limbo inspiration! Had really good mood, and thought the graphics were really neat. For me I found the movement to be a bit slow outside of the water, but that made me eager to get to the water again.

The Nuclear Ball by 0X_VOID_X0 2021-10-05T19:02:48Z

A nice simple concept done well. I think this would be great on mobile, really great job for your first jam!

Watch your step by Haematite 2021-10-05T19:28:47Z

@david-bohan Thanks! All the levels are randomly generated, but each quarter of a room gets selected from a random list and then reversed or flipped - provides quite a bit of variation whilst making it always possible to get through

@ekilibr Thanks! I've only got into jams this year, and this is my third already; they're great fun. But damn, I'll take a look at that bug!

Radio Inactive by Edoardo Talamini 2021-10-08T17:57:17Z

Cool game! Nice original idea and fits the theme really well. I found that the letters of the sections were obscured when they were raised - perhaps some more indication of which quadrant I'm meant to be focusing on would make it easier. Overall really enjoyed this though, good fun

PING 99 by MFauzan 2021-10-05T18:58:28Z

I think this is a really cool idea, graphics and general feel of the game are amazing. I'm not sure where you'd take this from here, but it's a great concept and really well thought out.

The Forgotten World by QueenOfSquiggles 2021-10-05T18:52:19Z

This game reminds of Undertale, great job. Really liked the feel of the game, great atmosphere. Unfortunately the game crashed during one of the fights, but I enjoyed it up until then!

Unstable Tower by Dumrum 2021-10-08T18:48:38Z

I think this is a really really cool idea, really enjoyed this. I can imagine this with even more players as a big party game. I actually loved the concept that you can only fit two rooms on a screen and then you get cut off. With a bit more polish I could definitely see this being made into a successful game

Unstable Gun Meets Zombies by Its_F4llen 2021-10-05T19:38:45Z

Cool little game, I got a bit confused with how I ended up at the reactor but I really liked the gun idea and it could definitely be expanded on for a full game. Great work!

Life on Cards by Lumbigui 2021-10-08T20:39:22Z

Great game, reminds me of Reigns for mobile. Overall thought it was really good, nice simple interface and easy to pick up and understand. Only thing was feeling like you weren't working towards anything - maybe some form of high score would be good to implement.

UNSUSTAINABLE: a god job by froissant 2021-10-09T08:51:38Z

Really great little game, the graphics and general feel of the game were incredibly polished for a jam game - loved it! My only comment, and it's minor, would be more clarity on the colour minigame for which way the levers were meant to be going. Really great entry though
