So cuty
I enjoyed the pixel art and 2D shadows.
I just wanted banana, but then that guy hit me and game just hanged...
I really liked the sassy skulls. Well done!
Really cool game, but I can definitely see the undertale inspiration
Awesome game, I dig the story and the concept, also love the humor there as well!
Though I did notice some bugs, whenever I interact with something, there's a chance that I would be unable to move. There's also when you get 0 HP, you could still move (you die once you got hit again, but still feels strange imo), then my game freezes after I died.
This is really cool tho, would love to see the full game
I enjoy the unpleasant music. I do also feel like that guy you talk to early is definitely you or someone doing the jam. Undertale inspiration is clear, and it still works here! I did get stuck talking to a big skull though - game wouldn't let me move out. It's a cool start!
Coulda sworn I've played a game like this before. Can't quite put my finger on it. Got into a loop of saving right off the bat that took some fenagling to get out of. It was also strangely difficult to actually start a new game. The UI needs work, and you probably shouldn't be able to move into objects you can't see through, that gets a little awkward. Still, good effort.
This game reminds of Undertale, great job. Really liked the feel of the game, great atmosphere. Unfortunately the game crashed during one of the fights, but I enjoyed it up until then!
Fun little Undertale-like game! A bit unpolished, but that is often the nature with jam games. I had a lot of fun exploring it, though!!
It did freeze at the not-Sans and not-Papyrus battle, with the following errors. Capture.PNG Capture2.PNG
I couldn't get very far as I kept encountering a bug where the game would freeze during a dialogue. But aside from that, I like the pixel art and color scheme. The shadow effects and music are also very good.
maaaaaaan i loved it :D such a cute entry, i dont know if you fixed the bugs or what but i didnt have any so i had a great time :)
I really liked the art style! The character walk animations are prefect. I ran into the same RuntimeError reported above, but was able to talk to some of the characters, and I had fun exploring the underground!
This reminds me of Undertale, in a good way! The art is super charming. I also like how the lighting obscures the map based on the character's position; it creates a feeling of claustrophobia. I unfortunately couldn't finish playing because I ran into a bug while battling - the game froze when my heart icon touched the border of the box. Otherwise this game is a great play and has an impressive amount of mechanics for a game made in 3 days!
A very interesting prototype. I liked the influence that games like Undertale have on your project hahaha.
The graphics are nice, good old 8 bit pixel art.
The sound is also interesting, and if I may suggest I would tell you to just turn the volume down a little bit, or put some volume control on.
Controls are simple and functional.
When I finished playing your game, I got a little "want more" taste. I hope you take this game forward and turn it into something bigger.
Good job!
@d3w @spolarium @darthboseiju @threaded-lama-digital @haematite @rubr @gamebuilder @misfire-dev @wbertrand @katelyn-d @vphyre Thank you all for playing my game. I did a small bugfix (changes noted in my main post). If you want to try the game with at least fewer bugs it is currently live at the same link as before. I'm hoping to also fix the bug where most of the animations don't play for things I made animations for. All battling enemies as well as the talking skulls are supposed to have animations, it just won't play.
I liked the use of shadows, it added to the environment.
Decent amount of content for the given time frame. I feel like maybe it's a little TOO close to the games you were inspired by, though. Might want to find ways to make it more unique.
I promise to write a more full-fledged comment, but in the meantime, here's the live-recording: https://youtu.be/8_LZxCDpWIE?t=1978
@thetotemguy Thanks for the review
@jitspoe @omiya-games Thank you for the streams! It was nice to hear your feedback in real-time!
What an interesting world. I included it in my Ludum Dare 49 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/T1tx-BQwhE0
Alright, the full comment, as promised:
I'm genuinely impressed at the amount of humor and world-building you were able to cram into this jam. Yes, the game is buggy, and froze at least 3 times during my playthrough. The graphics is...simplistic. The only properly-implemented battle mechanic is bullet dodging, as `action` and `spare` menus didn't do anything I could discern. And the lack of enemy types was quite disappointing. But I feel like the game description undersells how much *charm* you were able to ooze out of all the silly dialogs the game has to offer.
I certainly would like to see more time spent polishing with this game, obviously starting with the bugs and the battles. Sound effects would be a great addition, as well as visual effects like screenshakes, flashes, and particle effects. And of course, I'd like to see an actual plot and storyline develop. But what you've already got here is pretty darn amazing. I honestly would love to see more coming out from you!
@omiya-games Thanks so much for the detailed feedback! Already I've solved the bugs with crashing (they were on the game engine side so I had to do some digging). I'm starting now to work on my first "Post-Jam" version of the game, which I intend on including a lot of the features you're recommending. Thank you so much for the support!
I do like the walking animation most! :)
cute lil character
