I don't understand how this game fits the theme
@vishwah you have to first complete the mission of collecting some fuel artifacts and you are raided by aliens, but only to find that you only got 20/100 fuel in your spaceship making it unstable! And then you have to drive it home (earth/The Blue colored and purple-outline sphere that you will find in the game). You also have the blue-colored stars to guide you to the GATEWAY TO EARTH, in your completely unstable spaceship.
Just copy past this text in game page so that people can understand what they needed to do
Fun game! Kind of hard to find out what i needed to do, though.
Nice idea! The ship was definitely unstable. I liked the story as well! I think there are a few things you could improve. Firstly, getting the fuel before you can start flying the ship every time gets a little bit boring. If you restarted to when you take off in the plane, that would make it nicer after you fail. I also think the rocket ship should accelerate quicker - it's very hard to avoid the asteroids. I know the ship is supposed to be unstable - but it could be unstable in less frustrating ways! The cyan stars showing you where to go were a nice touch. I made it to Earth eventually!
@natpat @devparty Thank you for the feedback, I will try to improve it. I was going to make the ship's acceleration faster, but in that way I found out that it was a little more difficult to avoid the asteroids. But I think what you meant was that the ship could accelerate a bit easier when it turned?
I missed that I had to press S to start the travel when I first played, fortunately I read the comments and understood my mistake. Otherwise I would've left frustrated :stuck_out_tongue: If you update the game, don't hesitate to put more indications when you encounter the aliens
Nevertheless, it's a pretty cool submission and I wish you the best for your 4th game jam next year
@froissant  Thank you for the feedback!
Hey everybody a quick note. The WebGL version of the game has the latest changes, or has some post-jam changes. So if you want to play the original game you can download the binaries.
Love it! The aliens take you by surprise!
@chesschaser Thanks! Did you find the alien in space or the ones that attack when you are on the planet? Because if you found the one in space, stay careful from it ... it FOLLOWS YOU!
Great little game! Was a little bit confused about what to do, but I managed to reach thegoal. Also missunderstood a rock in sky for fuel and destroyed almost the ship xD
The game is perhaps a bit unfinished, but I still had fun trying it.
I also did not see that you should press s to start the travel, I did it by accident. Why did you add the collecting of fuel to the game? I feel like if you would concentrated on the rocket part you would have more time to polish the game. But overall I had a good time with the game.
@jk5000 @parttimeindie Thank you for the feedback! @parttimeindie I added the fuel collection so that it would give the game a bit of twist. It could've been simpler that way, but I wanted that twist where the aliens attack when you are collecting fuel to power your ship.
@anshul-k that makes sense
This is creative. I really like the two separate gamemodes of being on the ground and controlling the rocket.
I tested and reviewed the game in this video: https://youtu.be/s4yliNM61Xw
@meansquarederror In the part where you fell from the platform, there was actually a (hidden) bounds collider over there that respawned you. But unfortunately, I forgot to make it long enough to cover more than the space of the planet while development... it only reaches a bit before the "ALIENS!! RETREAT!!!" text, because I had a bit of different landscape before the final hours of submisson. Sorry for that "fall" in the void (blue emptiness).
Fun little game! It wasn't as hard as I expected. Wish aliens did some kind of damage or something. You could also make a kind of wall so player wouldn't fall off the planet. I liked the unstable spaceship mechanics and asteroids.
@aslan Thank you for the feedback! I will take that in consideration.
EDIT: Have made the changes in the latest WebGL build. Go check it out! (See log for the changes)
Really impressive work for a kid who is 11 years old. My young friend, you have a real potential as a developer. Your game is interesting with a solid gameplay. Mechanics for the ship are really clever - maybe a little bit too hard for me. You should fix capsule collider which is not really efficient. However, you made a good entry. I wish you the best ++
@geckoo1337 Thank you for the feedback! It really helps me!
