LD52 — Harvest

Elonkorjuu - Live Harvest by Tutti Ankka 2023-01-11T03:42:54Z

Neat game! The art style was super eye-catching and compelling and the music compliments it well. I had a little trouble with some of the mechanics, but eventually got the hang of it. This is also a really interesting subversion of the theme. Nice work!

The Orchid's Edge by Cornflowerblue 2023-01-14T03:54:44Z

Cool game. Lots of great art and models, all look really polished. I think the collectathon is an interesting way take the theme. Some of the enemies (the flying ones) were kind of annoying to fight, especially when there were other enemies. It felt kind of weird to me that you'd have to redo everything when you die, I think it'd be less tedious if you just had to refight enemies or something like that. Great work on this.

#NoOneDeservesToBeAnEggHoover by bellatrion 2023-01-13T22:40:34Z

Interesting game! I like the idea of the egg vacuum, reminded me of slime rancher in a way. I wish there was more going on in the game, though the story feels kind of detatched from the game (like they are two separate, isolated sections) and the actual core gameplay is just the same get 10 eggs over and over. I wish that the story and game were more integrated with one another early on so I felt more motivated to get engrossed in the story, rather than getting stolen away from it for 1 or 2 minutes after 5 or 6 lines of dialogue. That being said though, I though the game was pretty good. Nice work!

Heroes, Please by Quoclon 2023-01-14T00:15:09Z

Nice, short game. I see the inspiration from Papers, Please. I don't really understand the relation to the theme, but that's fine. I'd love to see more development and maybe multiple levels as well. Nice work!

Missiya by cybek 2023-01-14T00:47:15Z

This is really cool! I didn't expect to see a game that could work on DOS in this jam. The clunkiness of the controls makes it feel a lot like an old retro game. It does leave a lot to be desired though. Nice work regardless!

Low Tide Treasures by Cody1712 2023-01-14T00:54:28Z

I could tell before I even started that this was going to be a visually impressive game. The graphics are really nice and you can tell a ton of time went into making it look super polished and pretty. The music is also great, creating a really relaxing mood. The game itself feels a little bit lacking though. Though it's very relaxing and enjoyable, the lack of a goal holds it back since it's kinda tough to get super engaged in something that feels like it doesn't really have a purpose. I think working a more clear goal to work towards would make this game really great! Nice work!

Death In Time by Yorsh 2023-01-14T02:32:00Z

Awesome game! This is such a unique idea for a puzzle platformer. The levels are designed really well and I had a great time with it.

Dreamcatcher by 6smith 2023-01-14T00:36:58Z

Interesting game! It took me a second to realize that I actually had to drag the mouse to slice nightmares, but that is a really unique feature that I quite enjoy. It reminds me of playing games on the DS. I think it'd be nice to have a little more direction in the game as to what I am supposed to be doing, but otherwise, really solid work!

Rough Harvest by Timur_Bahadir 2023-01-14T02:49:07Z

Good game! Fun to play and difficult. I found it pretty challenging and had to play through it a couple times to win. To make a small suggestion, I think it'd be nice to have the center plot unlocked first then unlock the other plots clockwise/counter-clockwise to make a smoother progression of difficulty. Nice work.

Wheat melody by EasyLuckyGem 2023-01-09T21:05:20Z

Nice job! The art is beautiful and the music is as well. I think the only suggestion I'd make is making the levels more aligned with their music. It's tough to play a rhythm game with off-beat notes and stuff, so if the notes were to the beat, I think it'd be both easier and give you more freedom to get complex with patterns and stuff like that.

Completely Normal Garbageman Simulator by SundanceKid 2023-01-14T00:33:21Z

Cool game! The map and all the custom assets are really impressive considering the time limits. The game worked quite well aside from a few things (you can only suck in one item per mouse click) and at one point I was shoved into a building by an NPC and couldn't escape. Great work though, I love that you can fire bones at the NPCS.

Pulling Teeth by Deprecat 2023-01-09T23:46:39Z

Fun game! I love the dichotomy between the day and night! It's really cool that you get to go through the whole harvesting process in this one, from planting seeds to reaping crops, if you know what I mean ;). The visuals and aesthetics of the game are really cool too. Nice work on this!

They Come In Pieces by Cpt Slimers 2023-01-09T19:50:38Z

Very fun game. It reminds me a lot of surgeon simulator. I thought some of the organ names were really clever and I really enjoy the old Newgrounds game vibes I got from playing. Some of the audio was a little hard on my ears, and there were a few times when I would damage an organ while trying to cut the connective tissue on it, (this made clearing the skull bladder objectives basically impossible), but I still had fun with it despite that. If I could make one suggestion, it'd be to prevent the player from accidentally cutting stuff beneath the skin while they're cutting open the alien. Really great work here though!

Harvey's Tiring Job by Maka 2023-01-14T01:06:47Z

I like this game! I love how you make your own levels (more or less) based on how you plant things. I think it's a pretty interesting mechanic. Nicely done!

Herogatchi by WiredOverload 2023-01-14T00:43:11Z

Interesting idea! I enjoy games that have tomogatchi aspects to them like this one. It reminds me a bit of the Pokewalker from Pokemon HGSS, but if it were all in one game. I can't really tell all of the time exactly what the effects of what I'm doing are, so if there was some more visual feedback on that, it'd be really nice.

Witch's Wilds by Vipaka 2023-01-13T22:55:16Z

Cool game. There's a clear game loop here which, with some development, could become something quite nice. The music was nice as well, albeit a bit repetitive after a few days of play. I would've liked to see more upgrades becoming available as the game went on and a challenge aspect that would provide more incentive to play the game (like a minimum value you need to collect each day that rises). I found the size of the character to be kind of awkward to work with, since she's bigger than some of the gaps and would get stuck on obstacles a lot. I also broke the game by pressing escape on the end of day screen, causing my time to go into the negatives.

Otherwise, nice work on this. I hope you continue to develop it post LD!

Menagerie Street by Evan Charfauros 2023-01-09T19:03:45Z

What a cute game! I really love the art and music. Even the cursor is themed around the animals! The aesthetic of the game felt really homey even though you're accusing your neighbors of crimes.

I found it kind of difficult to figure out exactly how to progress the story. I figured the beaver's wife would come home eventually and I'd find out more info on them, but even after clicking through all of the dialog choices on all of the neighbors, she didn't show up. I was pretty confident it was them, so I accused them, but I turned out to be wrong. I figure that's because I didn't have enough evidence to make a case for my accusation, but I couldn't really tell whether I was gathering any evidence at all. Who knows? Maybe I wasn't!

Overall though, I had a good time with this game. It was a very chill time.

Harvest or Die by Ninnec 2023-01-14T02:20:35Z

Interesting game. I think it's a little weird that the bunny falls into it's own holes, but I guess that makes sense since slime monsters do. I think it'd be nice if instead of dying immediately and having to restart, you had a few lives so you don't have to play perfectly.

Mafia's Drive-Thru by Pusheeneiro 2023-01-11T03:49:15Z

Interesting game! I like the idea of the conveyor belt of people to steal organs from, it's pretty unique and a clever game mechanic. I had a little trouble figuring out how to do more than one or two orders before getting a game over, so I didn't play much, but I could see what you were going for and think it's a neat idea!

Jigsaw by kuviman 2023-01-14T21:27:48Z

This certainly delivers on all of it's promises. I love that there are a bunch of different puzzles to try and with variable sizes. I'd like to have a way to turn down the music in the puzzle screen, though.

We Harvest as One by Ben Toosey 2023-01-11T03:52:28Z

Fun game! I love the visual style and the way the design of the puzzles. The only thing I'd change is making the music loop more cleanly if possible. Great work though!

Doki Doki Ninjin by ChevalBancal 2023-01-13T23:00:53Z

Neat game! You can see the SMB2 inspiration immediately and I think its a neat direction to go with the theme. I could only play one level unfortunately, as the screen scrolling was giving me a headache, but from what I played, it's a pretty neat game! Nice work!

Click On Fish by Pomo 2023-01-11T03:32:03Z

By George I most certainly did click some fish. I didn't realize some of the fishes had families, so I feel really bad, but I also got a pretty good score, so...

Fun game overall. I'm a big fan of the subsection of fishing-themed games all over this jam, and this one is definitely high quality. The leaderboard is a great addition.

Wheat Master by nyxkn 2023-01-14T03:36:55Z

Screenshot 2023-01-13 213542.png Great Game. I would play it for several hours if there was more progression. Please don't add any more progression though because I have things to do that aren't clicking on wheat, and I don't want to be forced to choose between clicking on wheat and having a life.

Afterlife Assistance Agency by FishMasterino 2023-01-14T03:43:40Z

Cool game! Reminds me a lot of the wanted poster game from the DS Mario games. The only two things that I found frustrating were how the picture of the new person briefly covers a large corner of the screen and that occasionally the person you're looking for will wander off screen making it impossible to grab them. Other than those things though, this is a really fun game!

Reap N' Sou-l by Wolfox121 2023-01-09T20:50:06Z

Interesting game! The visuals are really pretty. I like the ground shader a lot (it reminded me a bit of risk of rain) and the colors look great as well. I had some trouble hitting enemies sometimes, especially after I'd get a soul stolen from me, and I got lost a little at one point, since the ground looks the same in a lot of places. I liked the gameplay a lot though! Great work!

Children of the Combine by MilkWine 2023-01-13T23:39:48Z

Interesting game! Playing as a combine harvester is pretty unique. I think it'd be nice if the people didn't all cluster up on the sides of the stage, but it isn't a big deal. I thought the monologue from El Presidente was quite funny as well. Nice work.

Hobo Harvest by magicstunts123 2023-01-09T20:13:25Z

Very fun game! Definitely one of my favorites. I love the aesthetic of the cardboard cutout people and really the whole premise behind it. Such an interesting and unique interpretation of the theme. I don't speak German, so I have no idea what people were saying, but I don't feel like that took away from the experience at all. Everything was in great balance and the game flowed super well. The only issue I came across was after I finished Day 10, I was sent to a day 11 which insta-killed me. Not sure why that happened. I also didn't have an opportunity to play the guitar since I was spending all my time gathering food and stuff, and I wasn't sure what it would do for me. Great work on this though. I hope everyone likes it as much as I did.

Social Mediæty by const_arch 2023-01-14T00:11:01Z

Fun game! After a few minutes of blindly playing around, I figured out what was going on and started doing really well. Really nice work on this. It was a lot of fun!

Carvest by feor 2023-01-09T23:14:39Z

Very impressive technically. I think the cars stick too close to their paths to really crash enough or at least give enough room for error that you can figure out a solution to a level. I also wasn't 100% sure what everything was doing, so I wasn't able to clear many of the levels. Great work though, I played this for like a half an hour so suffice it to say I enjoyed it a lot.

Organigrow by Phillip Scott 2023-01-14T03:16:56Z

Really great work on this! It's a really unique mechanic to make the player hunt down the tools they'd usually start with. It works really well. The graphics look really cool too.

Victor Voidbringer by pedsm 2023-01-14T00:27:37Z

Fun game! I see a lot of potential for further development here, adding more weapon variety and stuff like that. I had a lot of fun with the existing weapons, they feel well made and polished. I think the game could be a bit easier, whether that be by spawning fewer enemies, getting rid of some ranged attacks, or decreasing the amount of knockback/damage you take.

The day before the harvest by froissant 2023-01-09T20:39:31Z

Fun game! It reminds me a lot of the experience you get from playing Animal Crossing or something like that. You manage to simultaneously create a sort of nostalgia as well as a sense of exploration in this, which is really challenging to do since those things are kind of at odds with one another. I love the music and sounds as well, it's all super well designed and a great time. The only thing I had trouble with was the game's frame rate was a little low. I can't help but feel like the experience would be so much smoother if I could play it on desktop. Amazing work though. One of my favorites of the jam for sure.

Red Harvester by Forgin Bits 2023-01-14T01:02:48Z

Great work on this! I really love how clean the visuals are and how deliberately designed the movement is. You did a really amazing job on this. I would've liked to have more of an idea of where storms would go since they seem to move. I don't really know how best to deal with them, but I'm sure if I played more I'd figure it out. This was a really solid game!

Mineralia by googlypoo 2023-01-13T22:10:30Z

Well done! This is definitely a strong entry. I enjoyed how much variety there was in terms of buildings you could construct and the game economy feels very well-balanced. The visuals as well are quite nice, I think their simplicity complements the atmosphere of the game. Sound wise, I noticed the background music didn't loop, but I didn't mind just having that cavern ambiance. I think it would be nice to start the game centered on the map and with the starting lantern at the center of the screen, so you have a better idea where you're starting and have available all directions to build out in. I think it would also be nice to draw more attention to the resource counters at the top when there is too much demand for a certain resource, so you can plan accordingly. Maybe also showing a resources gained per day counter underneath them would be helpful so you can see if you'll meet your quota for a given resource. Nice job overall though! I enjoyed playing!

Seven Favors by surr-sloidah 2023-01-14T02:56:11Z

Fun game. The graphics are really polished and look nice. I would've liked to have been able to change my mouse sensitivity, but that's really a small issue. There is a lot of stuff in this game and that's really impressive to me.

Troll-mart by SimonO 2023-01-09T22:04:11Z

Amazing game. I enjoy any game with a grapple hook. Also, a really unique take on harvesting! I had a bit of trouble with framerate in the web build, but even with that, I still had a great time with it.

Troll-mart by SimonO 2023-01-10T18:05:25Z

@simono I played in chrome. I had like 20 tabs open when I did, so I'd imagine that'd impact performance a bit.

Just in case, here are my specs: OS: Windows 10, CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz, GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070, 16GB RAM

Bearly Fitting by jamdong15 2023-01-14T02:42:04Z

Nice game! I'd imagine it's tough to design several levels for a game like this (there's only so many ways to pack things into a tight space after all), but you guys pull it off really well! I especially like that added mechanic of the onions and bananas which really helps to change up the levels. I thought the comic-style opening was really nice too.

Harvest Inn by paloobi 2023-01-13T22:27:07Z

Interesting game. I like how smooth all the movement feels and the art is really nice. I think this game is kind of lacking in terms of challenge, though. I didn't really feel any motivation to keep playing, and as I got more and more seeds each day, my money just exponentially grew. Communicating more to the player and setting targets (i.e. make this much money by this day) turns simple games like this one into a more challenging, engaging experience that'll keep people wanting to play. Great work on making this though, I enjoyed it.

Slime Crime by No whOne 2023-01-14T03:09:24Z

Awesome game! I had a lot of fun with this. The visuals are all great and there are so many upgrades available, it's really impressive! The only thing I didn't really enjoy was the amount of particle effects and screen shake might've been too excessive. It'd be nice if you could turn down the intensity of it rather than turning it off all the way. (I'm pretty surprised to be saying that in a game jam, "too many cool particle effects" is not something you'd really expect to see with a 72 hour time limit XD)

Somebody Will Die by Coderah 2023-01-14T21:44:33Z

An interesting game for sure. The huge game world was interesting and finding little secrets like Ad was pretty neat. The theme is definitely there and there is a consistent, mysterious atmosphere throughout. I think it'd be nice to have things like stabbing or fighting wolves be tied to little minigames of some kind since leaving it totally up to random chance is kind of frustrating when you finally find the person you're looking for only for you to miss your stab and have to go back to looking.

Dream Reaper by Orhu 2023-01-09T19:34:43Z

@foxwindler Hehe, sorry about that. I must've missed that during testing. Thankfully you caught that before the deadline, so I was able to fix it. Thanks for letting us know!

Dream Reaper by Orhu 2023-01-10T00:53:11Z

@chevalbancal Reap and Harvest are synonyms ;)

Dream Reaper by Orhu 2023-01-10T17:22:40Z

@ysendrin I noticed that as well. For some reason it only appears when we build the project which made testing for it and diagnosing the cause extremely time consuming and we were running very low on time. I plan to go in and fix it for a post-LD build. Thank you for pointing it out though.

Dream Reaper by Orhu 2023-01-10T23:49:34Z

Thank you everyone who's commented so far. All of us are thrilled to see so many people playing and enjoying our game. This was our team's first time doing a jam and all the feedback we've gotten has been so touching to read. Thank you all so much for the kind words and feedback! <3

Dream Reaper by Orhu 2023-01-11T21:35:05Z

@accatosh Yeah, I totally agree about the redo button. A lot of the feedback we've been getting have to do with the tedium of having to go all the way back through a long level if you die. I actually wanted to make a Baba is You-esque undo button, but that turned out to be fairly challenging implement in the time we had. I am planning to implement this in a post-LD build at the moment.

Dream Reaper by Orhu 2023-01-12T21:04:13Z

@timur-bahadir Thank you for making us aware of this. When I was designing the control scheme, I hadn't considered that people would be playing on all kinds of keyboards. I'll implement rebinding keys in a post-LD build so that everyone can play with whatever control scheme they'd like!

DRUNK WEEZARD'S FARM by CO5MONAUT 2023-01-09T22:09:57Z

Interesting game. I saw this in a blog post yesterday and laughed my ass off. It's a little tough to play, but fun to mess around in, even if you aren't going for the objective.

Fungiform by Aruspice 2023-01-09T18:49:58Z

Nice work on this! I saw a lot of your development screenshots on Discord and I was super curious to see what this game was about.

The gameplay feels really solid, definitely has a lot of potential for further development. The goal of the game seems to be to dig as far out as possible and make as big a colony as you can, which is a really neat concept. I spent a lot of time exploring and finding these neat little structures. I'm not sure what they did, but they looked cool so I didn't really worry about that too much. Eventually I found myself hitting a point where I had so many resources that I couldn't dig fast enough to use them all up. That sort of defeated a lot of the point of growing more stuff, especially since as my colony grew, I'd be further away from my crops and would keep hitting unmovable tiles that would disrupt the pattern of my farm, which was kind of annoying and lead me to just stop planting more stuff. I also found digging became more tedious due to how slow it was later on when I had an excess of resources. Maybe upgrading your digging tool could also make digging faster on low tier tiles?

Overall, I found this game really fun. Nice work!

Catchy by danmerey 2023-01-09T22:44:48Z

This is a such a fun game! Navigating is super satisfying and fun, I enjoyed looking for the different fish, too. I didn't find any of the rare fish, but I honestly didn't mind just relaxing and catching whatever was near my boat.

Veggie Survivor by Hyster 2023-01-09T20:57:54Z

Fun game! I thought it felt a lot more challenging than other games of it's genre due to the speed of the enemies. I'd suggest adding some kind of explicit progression in so that the player can tell they're improving and how they're improving. I think it would help improve the replayability of the game, to be able to try new upgrades or something like that. Great work!

Soul Guide by LottaUnicorns 2023-01-13T21:46:13Z

Nice work! I think the sound design in this is excellent, with the smooth, soothing sounds complimenting the cozy atmosphere. The character design on the main character is also really well done. Like some other people have noticed, it's not super clear when you pick up the blanket, as the sound is quite quiet and is easily drowned out by the background music. I think if you updated the blankets on the shelf to have one fewer blanket when you pick one up, it'd be more clear. Also the game felt really short and took me only like a minute and a half to finish, which was kind of disappointing. I think if you explored the concept some more after LD, you could make an interesting puzzle/exploration game out of this. Other than that, really nice game! Good work!

Greenfinger! by TomasPraestholm 2023-01-09T23:34:27Z

Very cute game. The music was great too. I am terrible at rhythm games so I didn't do too well, but I still had fun!

Down to Earth by Chum Chum 2023-01-13T23:35:23Z

Neat game! Not too tough and has a good balance. I think that it'd benefit a lot from having some kind of goal to work towards (maybe you could alter the game a little and have a big crop you're trying to grow for a fair or something?). It'd also be nice to add background music of some kind so I have something to jam out to while playing. Otherwise, great work!

Techno Plants by morpheyz 2023-01-09T23:23:42Z

Awesome game. Gives me Snake X Necrodancer vibes. I especially like the music.

Collector of _ by Jujus 2023-01-14T02:53:05Z

Great work on this. The art is awesome and the mechanics feel really polished. I had trouble figuring out how the right click worked so maybe that is worth having a little more of an in depth explanation somewhere?

Overgrowth by Sheng Mai 2023-01-14T01:24:56Z

Very good game! I could definitely see this being developed into a much much larger project. The gameplay is solid and I loved the art. The sound design is also really great. Nice work all around!

Dreizehn: Grim Harvest by ScriptMage 2023-01-09T20:27:00Z

Fun game! Dreizehn has a really cute design and the game is a lot of fun. The difficulty is definitely fair and I think the intangibility power is a really interesting design choice for this kind of game. I'm sure if I was good enough at using it, I'd be able to survive a lot longer than I did. This is a really solid, fun game you have here!

Froot Labs by Knatterton 2023-01-09T22:30:08Z

Very fun game. I especially liked level 3 where you had to bounce back and forth between the two rooms. This was a really fun game and honestly, I feel like you could develop it into a full title by adding a bit more variety if you wanted. I wish that the settings didn't get reset every level though.

Soul Harvester by Accatosh 2023-01-14T01:12:30Z

Interesting game! I think there's a ton of potential here for sure. Unfortunately, a lot of that potential is snuffed out by the difficulty of the game. It takes a really long time to harvest souls (maybe this should happen by simply walking overtop of them), which makes it really hard to gather them. Also the enemies move really fast and erratically, and also have really large hitboxes for hitting the player, so dealing with them is really tough. Maybe slowing them down to around half their speed and doubling the speed of harvesting and time for souls to decay could help alleviate a lot of the difficulty?

Egg Egg Chicken by JUMPirate 2023-01-14T02:28:36Z

Neat tower defense game! The variety of items is really nice and I like that you can kind of game when you want to sell eggs to maximize profits. It'd be really nice to have separate game and shop areas though so you don't click on buttons to buy things accidentally when trying to get the stuff underneath it. Great work on this!

Weekly Harvest by Dragon B.R. Studio 2023-01-09T19:19:23Z

This is a pretty interesting game. The graphics are really nice. I especially like the scarecrow sprite. I found this game somewhat difficult to understand, though. There isn't a ton of feedback or instructions, so I had to guess around to figure out what the controls were and what to do. It took me a minute to realize you could only plant seeds in watered tiles. I don't think skipping days worked since I skipped a bunch but my crops never grew. It could just be that they took too long to grow before I got a game over screen. The concept is neat though and well aligned with the theme. Nice work on this!

LD53 — Delivery

Uber Driver by CedarBishop 2023-05-02T21:11:13Z

Definitely a fun game. I thought driving the car around and causing chaos was quite enjoyable. I noticed that you couldn't pick up/drop off someone if the car wasn't all the way inside the pick up/drop off zone. I would have liked if it also didn't require a button press to pick up or drop off a passenger, and some way to know my star rating for the ride as it's ongoing. Otherwise this was a really fun game. Nice work!

Totally Legal Baby Delivery by Sassages 2023-05-02T21:05:56Z

Great game. As a big fan of birds, I love it when they steal newborn babies from hospitals and drop them from a great height into marked zones.

Pack It In! by Broccolly 2023-05-02T21:01:35Z

Interesting game! I found myself having a bit of trouble getting down some of the tighter puzzles on this one since a lot of them needed me to be pretty precise! I thought the game was very fun though. Nice work on this!

Dear friend by hmrpf 2023-05-02T20:49:57Z

Great work on this! I thought the art style was really appealing and the gameplay feels really smooth. Despite being really simplistic, there's a decent amount of depth to the gameplay (it definitely feels like there's some techniques you could use to get to the end faster)!
