Seems to be unfinished? Or I don't understand how to play it :(
Sorry that you had difficulty playing the game @lukas-boersma. There was an unfinalized (and buggy) version of the game up on the link between last night and the publish deadline today, you might have tried to play it before it was fully functional. It should be in a working state at this stage.
moving around in the world works nicely, but it was difficult to find anything to do
Good game overall, but the hit-boxes were too big
There are two things that can be improved here. One is the collision detection on the walls in the area where the mushrooms can be harvested, since more often than not, I am going against an invisible wall. The other is the walk cycle of the player character (though I understand you didn't want to add animation frames due to time constraints).
Furthermore, no matter the day, golden leaves always spawn at the lower-left. Maybe you intend them?
Cute premise for a game, I like the idea of being a witch harvesting ingredients. I wish there were more upgrades, maybe allowing more items to spawn or giving you powers like picking them up from farther away. A bigger map would be cool too-- I was able to harvest everything in my garden right from the beginning which made the movement speed a little unnecessary.
Nice cozy game. The Items could appear more randomly on the map
Great job! I had fun playing it until I started spamming Enter to get unlimited fairies :P The collisions were annoying at first, but I got used to avoiding running in between the boxes that were closer to each other.
@bklolo Thank you for reporting the bug! I have patched it, so hopefully no more unlimited fairies :)
It was an ok game, beautiful spritework but world feels a little empty, could use more things to do/and fill the world.
Fun little game and upgrade always keep me playing. The collisions are sometimes annoying.
Nice graphics. I agree that it needs a little more to do, and more randomness to the items. It might be fun also to craft potions and use or sell them.
A cute core gameplay loop, there's definitely a bit of strategy to collecting. Some kind of variety, or larger goal, or complication to plan around would be a nice addition. Player's hitbox should be smaller.
Love the artwork, feels like with a little extra atmosphere and motion this would be a very beautiful game. I found the movement frustrating because there seems to be friction against surfaces and the movement vector isn't normalised leading to diagonal movement being faster. This makes the game feel a lot worse to play than it should sadly as the camera is constantly changing speed. I played until I got a dragon egg and both the upgrade costs were over 1000.
I see there's a bar above the players head so I'm guessing there was originally plans for some sort of combat or energy mechanic which definitely would have added a lot. Well done though you made something really cool and with a lot of potential. I definitely want to see what you can make with more time and experience, keep it up!
Cute artwork and nice music! I may be mistaken, but diagonal movement feels faster than horizontal/vertical one. Maybe it's only a feeling.
Accidentally broke the game by pressing "esc" when I should've pressed "enter" in a shop. Got back to screen, but the time went negative :( So it was -5, -10, -30... So the game stuck.
P.S. Girls worries me a lot by thinking that fly agaric is edible. Girl! It's bright red!!
This is a great prototype, good job for such a short time constraint. Ending each day with a shop was an unique idea, I liked that. When handling movement it's good to keep track of what's currently pressed down, and what the most recent movementbutton was that was pressed down, so that the player doesn't have to let their fingers off all the movement buttons to move to another direction. It makes it feel more natural. I didn't figure that out though myself until I built a few prototypes, so not having that in a prototype isn't a big deal.
The character was intriguing, with a larger, more detailed sprite. The music suited the character well, as well as the theme of collecting fruit.
Nice job, keep making more games!
Really cute game. Sometimes I have problem to walk around stone walls, but it's no problem. Also more environment can be nice. But overall, good game!
A neat little prototype, but it lacks a strong core loop. Collecting things is kinda fun, but the timer seems kinda arbitrary, and there doesn't seem to be an end goal.
I love the artwork, although some animations would have been super nice to see.
An aside: your website's main page seems to be a bit broken, I tried snooping around but none of the other pages would load for me.
I recorded my gameplay, you can watch it here (34:49): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihro-C1lbJM
GFX is cute. But gameplay confusing. I didn't catch objectives and mechanics besides walking around and collecting stuff spontaneously (I don't understand which key to press and just pressing everything).
Cool game. There's a clear game loop here which, with some development, could become something quite nice. The music was nice as well, albeit a bit repetitive after a few days of play. I would've liked to see more upgrades becoming available as the game went on and a challenge aspect that would provide more incentive to play the game (like a minimum value you need to collect each day that rises). I found the size of the character to be kind of awkward to work with, since she's bigger than some of the gaps and would get stuck on obstacles a lot. I also broke the game by pressing escape on the end of day screen, causing my time to go into the negatives.
Otherwise, nice work on this. I hope you continue to develop it post LD!
Nice, I like how this game felt and like the core loop of collecting all these items. I think there's some great potential here, having a larger or other spaces to explore, terrain and locations that you need certain upgrades to be able to go to (swamps, something to protect you from cold and heat etc.) Visually I really like the look of the game, giving things a couple frames of animation would really take it up a notch though in bring it all together. Overall great job and I enjoyed it!
I managed to break it by pressing tab :sob:
